[Q] Can't find Accented characters on Canadian French Keyboard! - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hi all,
My first post, hope it doesn't show too much.
First thanks to Krook1 for his great release for my Lenovo Ideapad K1
I am running [ROM][JB 4.1.2 JZO54K] CM10 for Ideapad K1 v6.1 3G+Wifi [Updated Nov 10th] and it works pretty fine. I am triing to find the French Canadian accented characters on the French Canadian Keyboard.
When running the original Android 3.1 or 3.2 can't remember there was a special key on the Canadian French Keyboard that gave access to all accented characters. Now that I have upgraded to CM10 4.2.1 I cannot get to the accented chareacters. I tried playing with the language and keyboards and I can't seem to get to those accented characters. I'm talking about "éâçè" etc. I think that the key on the keyboard was called AltGr for Alternate Group or somthing.
I do not know if this is a bug, or just me not selecting the "exact" way to do it in JB.
Thank you for any help.
Claude

Oh god! Yes, what a noob. They have removed the key allright!
Holding the E key brings "éè etc." as accented characters.
I guess, "working as designed". Sorry for the post.

Hi guys, I wonder if someone can tell me where are the files that can be hacked in order to change or add new languages for the Android, in my case is Arabic.
here is a solution for you http://dumpytips.blogspot.com/2009/01/arabic-on-t-mobile-g1half-solution.html
Cheers!
Thanks buddy

Where is the second Half ?
Arabic Support in Android 3.0 Honeycomb
It looks like official native support for Arabic finally comes to Android
See the snapshots at http://bit.ly/honeycomb-arabic
best luck pro ...
looking for this also...
Do I have to root?
I think you just need to add Arabic font after rooting your phone. I did not try this yet and I am new to android.
Or maybe using one of Arabic supported ROMs like Cynagon for example.
I hope anyone can help.. I am still looking for a solution for my nexus s.
I flashed latest build of cyanogen for nexus one yesterday and seems arabic is finally solved. letters are connected letters, right to left alignment in msgs.
It's CM7 build#35
It's now late November 2011. Any news of newer Arabic language stuff for droid phones?
I want to know about Arabic in droid too, bc my native lg for Uyghur. it's same to Arabic for use.
Noon keyboard
NOON KEYBOARD
WRITE ENGLISH GET ARABIC LIKE YAMLI BUT ON A KEYBOARD
Must have keyboard for all those who want to write arabic on android
Supports 2.1 and up
Cheers
Salam Aluikum everyone. Currently my sister's husband owns a htc sensation, and has been griping about reading Arabic on it. Now I COULD go and install cyanogen 7 on his sensation, as that has good Arabic support... but I personally don't want to do it as 1- I'm lazy, and 2- if something changes and he doesn't like it, guess who he's going to ***** at?
so are there any ways of displaying Arabic on his android correctly in everything? like texts, emails, and etc. The only thing I could think of was making him install Firefox as his browser, so he could read Arabic websites
COS DS Android 2.3.4 rom now supports all ASOP+CM languages and locals splited into 4 builds:
for arabic choose:
Build Langpack1:en_US ar_EG ar_IL ur_PK fa_IR bg_BG ca_ES cs_CZ da_DK de_AT de_CH de_DE de_LI el_GR en_AU
it has full support for arabic language...

Hebrew/Arabic support

Hi to all the the lucky one's which already have this phone
Does GB finally bring GUI in Hebrew/Arabic (I know it has locale, but in the sdk it does nothing)
Does it has keyboard in Hebrew/Arabic?
Does it has proper BIDI support?
screenshots would be great
Thanks in advance
It does have Hebrew and Arabic fonts (can open corresponding sites fine).
NO system interface in either.
Thank you
what about keyboard?

No Hebrew keyboard as well.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
it does now have hebrew on 2.3.5 and 2.3.7 but not arabic!!
Gingerbread has Arabic font but no RTL support. Letters aren't connected, that's why people go to custom roms like cyanogen and miui.
CM7 Nightlies have both font and keyboard for RTL
The solution - if you insist on using stock Nexus S ROM - is to root, deodex, then use the Arabic Univeral Patcher by madmack and brightidea here:
http://blog.devasque.com/?page_id=11
You will get Arabic interface, RTL auto-alignment, and correctly connected characters (the full package except Arabic keyboard).
For the Arabic Gingerbread keyboard (with suggestions), just rip the LatinImeGoogle.apk from the latest Cyanogen nightly and overwrite the one in \system\apps
You might find that you actually prefer SlideIt, SmartKeyboard, GoKeyboard, or some other Arabic-supporting market keyboard.
Another solution is to use the Cyanogen 7.1 RC1 or Nightly ROM as it already supports all of these features (maybe not the Arabic interface, not sure).
2.3.4 brought Hebrew keyboard and interface but..
2.3.6 took the Hebrew keyboard out.
Yet, no dictionary and no RTL support.
I expect full Hebrew support in ICS because Honeycomb does support this
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
Gingerbread keyboard does solve the problem. but not solves problem of rtl ... expecting of ICS ...

Does Samsung keyboard have Greek language?? It only has English UK for me. I am on Kyrllos 6. Use Swype keyboard or Gingerbread keyboard. .
Note : - Same answer/suggestion also posted in General FAQs. Post number 34 here.

I suspect this is a bug in XXJPQ ROM. I cannot get anything else with Samsung kbd either, regardless of what I tick in input languages and what I select by swyping the space bar. This worked fine in previous ROMs. I recommend using Gingerbread kbd from the market to bypass this issue.

Try GoKeybord with Greek add on.

[Q] Swedish Keyboard Does not Work - KingDroid ICS NoteMania Edition v2.0

As im not allowed to write in the [ROM][ICS] KingDroid ICS NoteMania Edition v2.0+OPTIONAL MOD S3 [very fast] ONLINE thread, i post my question here....
I have installed the KingDroid ICS NoteMania Edition v2.0 and it works just fine. But the Swedish keyboard does not work as it should. When pressing "a" it writes and "s" even though the small popup clearly shows "a". Pressing an "ö" i will get an "x" and so on... The English keyboard works just fine.
Im i doing something wrong or is it at bug??
Thanks again,
Peter
same problem with french keyboard in kingDroid 1.5 1.6 ... 2.0
pressing "m" it writes "w"
w,x,c,v,b,n are also wrong
I solved it by installing SwiftKey... And i love it as it seams to be much better then the original keyboard...

[Q] AOKP JB 4.1.2 - How to change hardware keyboard layout to german?

Hello everybody,
two days ago I found this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906026) and installed it - successfully ... so far. The rom works much better than my previous one (tezet's CM10) and has even more options. But I can't get one thing working. It's the layout for the hardware-keyboard. I can type but online letters from a-z. Z and Y are correct positioned (as on the german keyboard) but when I press alt oder left-shift and then try to type a number or a special character, nothing happens except that two little arrows appear at top and bottom of the cursor pointing to its center.
What I tried to solve this problem:
- Changed languages at the settings-panel to german whereever I found such a setting
- Installed this layout-file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32586129&postcount=35
- Extracted, copied and overwrote all files from the folder /system/usr/keylayout off of the rom I used before where everything worked fine
Unfortunately since I'm new to this site I do not yet have privileges to post right in the thread of that rom. So I'm sorry I opened another one. I hope for sympathy and help.
Big thanks in advance,
parameta
Sorry if my answer will be of little help, but here it goes.
I understand that you cannot access any special character without Alt. Have you tried by long-pressing a button ?
Furthermore, the QWERTZ keyboard is not supported yet for AOKP for Milestone 2, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32029006&postcount=3.
The latest build of your ROM was released on 2012-10-15, but it is based on CM10 which has seen 4 builds since that date, including a really major one. I suggest you ask Megalith27 to release a new version of his ROM, based on the all-newest CM10. (Maybe I'll do that if I learn how to do it.) However I don't know whether that will solve your problem or not.
I understand this response is not so helpful, but I didn't want to leave you without any sign of life for ages.
Tschüss !

You will be able to get a qwertz keyboard in this Rom for sure.
just follow this link, and download my qwertz file. replace it as described. It will work. But replace just that one file. Not all the files as you have done!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32586129&postcount=35
So reflash the rom zip in recovery, and do it again. You will get all the olf files back, this way.
If you want to read this how to in german, please send me a pm. I will give you another link....
I'm sorry for my late reply, but here I am.
First of all, thank you for your answers.
@Agmenor:
Yes I tried long pressing and this way I get the usual small window with offers some special characters and letters. But that's not very comfortable.
I believe, if Megalith27 had to compile a new version auf this ROM that would be too much of an effort with too little use. But thank you anyway.
@lulli1
Will I be able to write letters and special characters with your linked files or will I only get a quertz layout? Typing special characters and letters without switching to the softkeyboard or long pressing buttons is one of my demands on this rom.
By the way, do I know you from android-hilfe.de? If yes, call me "MalzMalz", that's me. If not, ignore this line.
Greetings,
parameta
