Burned super amoled - Nexus S General

Anyone else have the super amoled Nexus S with burnt images on the screen? My keyboard has a minor burn but my status bar is really bad. Anyway to prevent that on my next phone?

Yea I have it a little bit status bar & if I look real close I could see numbers looks like time hour & minutes burnt in but it really faint. The status line is noticeable when the phones in landscape. The best way to prevent it is try not to have the screen on really bright that's what I've heard & read.

Burn_in is caused by bright static parts of screen, so that's status bar mostly... Try to hide clock if your ROM supports it or move it to center.... You can also hide status bar in custom launchers to prevent that or assign it to gesture...

After about 3 months of using my phone on max brightness (old logic = better to have working eyes than bad battery) now my status bar displays the old gingerbread icons and YouTube logo on the left.. so ugly. I guess don't use max brightness all the time!

If it is really bad, i guess you could buy a broken amoled nexus s, and replace the screen.

A better logic is to use proper brightness for proper ambient light levels. Too bright will strain your eyes just as bad as too dim. Ever tried looking at the sun?

I have that on galaxy s2, in monday i will try go to service with my warranty to replace my screen. If you have warranty, try the same, or wait for my case to end.

Nexus 7 2012 - Screen is not level?!

Hi Guys
So I was looking at my tab during a lecture and for some reason I noticed something odd. I looked closer and it seemed to me as if the lines on the screen, which we were supposed to be straight...weren't so straight after all :silly:. At first I thought it as my imagination or that my sinus was affecting my sight...but it turns out I was right. My Nexus 7 screen is just about a millimetre off and now that I'm conscious of it, everything feels off. I even had @MattDN93 confirm it.:highfive:
I scanned my actual device to show anyone who's interested. (I didn't trust myself with the right camera angles to capture the problem)
What should I do about this? Would this count as a hardware defect for me to claim the warranty?

Wow, thanks...... Now you've convinced my brain that mine is crooked too. :|
Totally off topic but why does scanning a color screen produce a black and white image?

Perhaps because the scanner was set to scan in grayscale mode?

No that's not it. I just tried with a handheld scanning wand on my computer monitor and got a b&w image also. It was set in color mode.

Well a scanner shines white light at the pixels maybe they reflect white back if they're on with any colour and black if off?

Seriously tho no its does not look normal ive seen simular issue on lcd screen with abnormal pressure points. Also when screen refresh is out of sync and strobes lines if I would suggest returning to supplier.
Hey a simular patern appears on a crt monitor when a strong magnetic field is near by the side...

i would say it's normal because that's just how the screen of S4 is. on my S4 also banding is visible especially on gray color. you might try to change phone for another one but think hard before doing it because you might get phone with screen that looks even worse.
Its not normal... I have this problem before with my previous galaxy and samsung replaced it for a new one..

I have that problem too, but didn't notice until about 3 months after purchase. Samsung doesn't replace with a new one, but a refurbished one, and who knows what problems a refurbished one will eventually happen. Anyone ever figure out if this was normal or not? Seems to be a lot of people with this issue if you do a simple Google search. It doesn't really bother me unless I'm on a gray screen.
I had the same problem on my Galaxy S5 too (horizontal lines)
goodbye Super AMOLED Display !!! :victory:
goodbye samsung !!! :victory:
I bought a LG G3 today http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3 :good:

[Q] One-handed shrunk screen background color BLUE - why not BLACK?

This video shows this cool new feature to aid one handed use:
http://youtu.be/S2Yr7PvgKQw?t=33s
I was surprised to see however that the background color of the unused screen area is blue instead of black - which would make much more sense on AMOLED.
Can that color be configured? Or maybe it's a safety measure against screen burn-in? Also, the border of the box could be a darker color...

Sounds like a cool feature, but I will never use it. It's why I bought a screen that size and not a screen size that it shrinks down to lol. Can be useful to some, but honestly defeats the purpose of the note haha. As for the colors, I have no idea...

I agree. I have big hands and could reach all points of note 2 so I'm not worried about it but nice for some people

I'm sure that color can be changed (at least I THINK I saw black in another video). As for the burn-in, blue IS what causes the burn in. So blue would actually make it much worse.
they probably made it blue so it's easy to see, so when you move it back to original you can place it exactly in place, instead of black where you might find it hard to put back.
unless of course there is a reset....

Very visible digitizer

Hi!
I heard about vertical lines visible on G2 but on mine I have them visible not only sunlight but also indoor when I'm browsing web. Especially on one color surfaces (google results white, google play background&green bar at top).
Really I'm guessing it's digitizer (line every each 1mm).
It annoying me because the're pretty visible. It is common? Please check in your devices at full brightness.

I think that's normal. I can also see them when I go outside and the lines reflect with outside light.

Ok but I can see them not only in sunlight, but in typical using. And they're not doted. Maybe that's not digitizer lines?
I can see them on my D803 in any lighting just by tilting the screen a little. Not dotted. Make the screen look like old-school graphing paper from high school. Never bothered me, though.
The extremely high reflectivity of the screen annoys me more. It's basically a mirror under fluorescent lights.

mine are horizzontal is that normal?

Color convergence issues

Hi all,
I've had my 6p for almost two weeks and tomorrow is my last day to return it. They will not extend buyer's remorse to a replacement unit so before tomorrow I need to decide if the issue I have is specific to my unit (get a replacement) or related to the AMOLED panel used on this phone (cancel).
The issue is that colors seem not to converge correctly, just like old CRT screens would. This is most noticeable on high contrast borders such as black text on light backgrounds, which my brain interprets as embossed text rather than nice flat text. Below is a zoomed in example showing this issue, upper borders are reddish/darker and lower ones are greenish/bright.

Anyone else seeing this? my friend's S5 has a similar thing but way less noticeable and i could probably live with it, whereas my 6p is probably too much. Yes this is my first AMOLED.
Thoughts? thanks!

You are joking? Right?
That image is blown up how much??
400%. Otherwise you wouldn't see it on a forum, but real life you can see it with no need to zoom
