My R2D2 Droid 2 came pre-installed with Swype 1.64.40.9380. I assume that's the same version that comes on all Droid 2 phones.
I've had my Droid 2 for about a month, and I've been a religious Swype fan since using it on my Omnia II. It worked great until about a week ago when a few other weird things went on with my phone.
Now, I can only use my Swype keyboard as a regular keyboard. If I drag my finger across, the keyboard just closes and does not enter anything. I've tried switching to the multi-touch keyboard and back, rebooting, etc.
Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall this version or an updated version of Swype? I am new to Android so I don’t know where to get an install package for a preinstalled app, nor do I know how to uninstall something that was preinstalled.
I'm coming from the Windows Mobile world, and I'm completely clueless. I appreciate any help I can get on this.

I've got a bunch of apps working, lets compile a list of working apps.
~Netflix
~Hulu
~Flash Player
~WatchESPN
~Dead on Arrival 2
~Beach Buggy Blitz
~At Bat
~Slingbox
~Adobe AIR
Other's I've got working:
- Amazon App Store
- Chrome Browser (can't exit without a keyboard)
- Plague Inc.
- Astro File Browser
- XBMC (of course)
Which version of Hulu did you get working?
None of I've tried the latest from the Play Store as well as the "modified" versions available here at XDA and neither of them work for me. The latest one loads the Hulu splash screen and then crashes, the modified ones just show the main screen no matter what I click on.
- ES file browser
- GBAoid
- Others mentioned
Have others had good luck with Netflix, while I can make it run I have had no luck with audio. Hopefully we get some official versions of some of these soon.
Here's a couple on mine:
-Falcon Pro
-Titanium Backup
Edit:
madmofo145: I had netflix up at one point, audio was hit or miss.
Haven't had any issues with Netflix, but I didn't really use it all the much either lol

How about Hulu?
It was an old modified apk I made, not the latest but it works. I'll see if I will change the new version of it

Here's another
-YouTube for Google TV (works great!)
I LOVE the UI for YouTube for Google TV...knocks everything else out of the park

Any chance you could share the modified apk?
I sideloaded GTAIII just to try out the stereoscopic 3d support. It seems to work great, 3d display works, controller works, everything.
Then just for kicks, I gave quadrant standard a run too.
Other than that i've only tried the obvious things, busybox, Titanium Backup, etc.
It seems that all those games that didn't adapt well to having a touch screen and not a controller are the ones I didn't keep around, so now I'll have to go browsing through the play store to find them all again.
I would like an copy of that hulu apk too
@madmofo, with Netflix you need to use the touch pad and click to increase the volume. The bar is not working correctly, at like 80%~ on the bar you get no audio, you move it as high as possible, it then works.
I am running NOVA LAUNCHER which now that I finally setup makes the system a lot more accessible. The nice surprise is how well ZEN PINBALL HD plays, the plunger is triggered by the O button not the analog stick. I posted over galcon.com to ask for controller button mapping for DYNAMITE JACK, the directional controls do work already. DRAG RACING also supports the controls for driving.

I didn't even consider this would work. Would definitely like a cleaner launcher.
Do the OUYA games still show up in Nova? Is Nova easily navigated with the controller?

Yes and yes. Though I find Nova easier to use with the touchpad than the controller itself.

Good to know. Maybe I'll try one of the Windows 8-esque tile-based launchers.
My MOGA came with Sonic CD and MC4, loaded them both, Sonic CD works flawlessly, MC4 won't launch
I tried Zen Pinball HD because I wanted to see if the stereo 3D worked - loaded and ran no problem (runs considerably better than the pinball game in the Ouya store - but no analog for the plunger which is a bit of a bummer.)
And yes the stereo 3D "just worked". My TV detected it and switched into 3D mode without me having to do anything. Only problem was one game of pinball was enough to give me a headache...but that's not the Ouya's fault!

Have you tried copying over data files for any other tables? I made my first attempt and now the app crashes at the splash screen.

No I haven't. The Ouya is my first tegra device so I haven't used any tegrazone apps before and haven't tried buying any additional tables yet.

It depends on your Smart TV. If it's a Samsung some have BT for use with an external mouse and keyboard. Those that don't you can connect via USB (or use a wireless keyboard that comes with a USB wireless dongle). You can also use your SGS4's keyboard via the SmartView app from Play. Keyboards only work on Samsung controlled parts of the TV interface. They aren't recognized by a lot of the third party apps accessed via Smart Hub.
When you're setting up WatchOn, here's a tip. Don't go through the device set-up process. Instead, make sure the TV and your Samsung mobile device are on the same network and hit the icon shown below. It allows WatchOn to show content from your TV within the app assuming your Smart TV supports it.
This is all meaningless if your Smart TV isn't made by Samsung.
Thanks my tv is samsung, what im trying to do is... for example, watch youtube, and using the search, use my phone as keyboard instead of using the remote pressing the letters 1 by 1. Not sure if that made any sense... i set up the watchon but it doest have the "keyboard" function i was looking for.
RIght now im doing.. seach it on my phone then sync it to the tv-_-

Whatever you're trying to do on the TV has to be keyboard enabled; most non-Samsung apps don't support outside keyboard access and require you to use the keyboard that's provided within the individual app.
Here are two examples. The Web Browser and Samsung Apps support the Samsung keyboard.
If your phone has Smart View installed and is connected to the TV this pops-up whenever the TV's keyboard pops up.
The YouTube app doesn't support the Samsung keyboard so you have to use whatever's provided in the app.
Thanks for the detail explanation.

WatchON's pretty much useless outside of the TV function if you have a Samsung Smart TV. Smart View allows you to control all the other functions and Smart Hub including allowing you to use your device's keyboard vs. the onscreen keyboard. That's what OP was asking about.
Watchon with Cyanogenmod
is there anyway to get Watchon working and installed on Cyanogenmod? I have the APK, says not installed. help!!!!!
Watchon integrates IR remote with your tv program guide (if your cable tv is supported)
for youtube, I used to use youtube remote... an app by youtube to pair your tv and play the videos.
with recent update, that functionality is built in youtube app on the phone. in the app select "Play on" option and you can add your tv to the list.
No. Won't work on AOSP as is (would require major 'rejigging'/porting to get it to work if at all), requires Samsung framework.

Did a quick Google search but didn't find what I was looking for. Have a real crappy site that really only works with the mouse on full desktop client. Clicking with your finger often results in an unwanted action.
Is there a certain browser that may have this feature built in? Or any other tricks that may help with the standard chrome app

Hi,
I don't understand why only few app are available in Play store ? Is it only a problem of non-touch device ?
For an app like Connectbot (as JuiceSSH), touch device is not required I think, so why is it not present in play store ?
Thanks.
Being a non touch device is part of it. Also some games and apps are also exclusive to certain android tvs.
Many apps including paid (provided your play account has the app license) apps can be sideloaded if you extract the apk from another Android device. Sideloaded touch apps usually need a mouse. I prefer using a Logitech k400r for sideloaded apps.
Also devs need to specifically mark the app is compatible with the forge in the play store. Another issue is the on device app browsing and search of the play store is pretty weak. You may have better luck searching and installing via a desktop browser

Thanks you for this details. I will try some apks (and search in browser, but it's in my browser I saw incompatibility for SSH apps).
I've a probably stupid question but... how can you use a k400r to emulate touch ? Using a touchpad is like always putting your finger on screen :/

The device registers a touch only when you click on the touchpad/mouse.
Yeah I would love for then to step up the apps. Firetv is Android but they have more apps available

is there anyway/place to find out the new app releases for Nvidia?
