Scrolling doesn't work properly in some apps. For exampls, whatsapp doesn't auto scroll or smooth scroll, meaning you have to start from the top every time you open a chat. The news widget after opening the stories, scrolling is really weird too, can't scroll up and it's hard to get it to scroll at all. Investigating the whatsapp scroll issue some had problems that they found were OS related. Any reason scrolling doesn't work like it should in some apps and any way to fix it?
And that's not the complete list...
Opera, adv viewer, Evernote, Read It Later...
Anything that needs a scroll misbehaves, so yes, it is an nook firmware issue.
I found some supposed solution on this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814826&highlight=htmlviewer+apk), replacing the HTMLViewer.apk but it simply didn't worked.
The only workaround I've found, is to use the no-refresh, but even so, some times the scroll misbehaves.

The worst problem is when programs refresh, the scroll goes all the way back to the top, making you scroll through the entire chat history every few seconds, which makes google voice app almost unusable for long conversations. Similar with whatsapp.

I Haven't experienced that with google voice since it isn't available in my country.
I use Imo messenger because i had a weird issue with talk: some chat lines stood on the bottom, in the incorrect order...

Sometimes when I search for apps in the market, a lot of them don't show up. For example I'll search for something that I know for a fact is there, and it'll say "3 results" (or however many results) but 0 results will actually show. What's going on?
i think this is a timeout issue, had it myself a few times. does it work when you repeat the search?
I've noticed this too. I may be wrong, but at least for me it seems to only be a problem if I search from within a category. That is to say if I click Games -> Casual and then search for say "ebuddy" I'll get this. If I search from the Market's main menu, I never have a problem. Could be a coincidence though.

i experienced this aswell, it seems to appear more often (still not always) when not going through market's first screen search dialouge.
Happens to me too... seems random..
Going back to the home screen of the Market application seems to solve it..
To me, this does not seem random. To make this happen (to search with no results) I simply press the hardware search button while viewing something else than the market home screen to search. Whilst when I go to the market home screen and press the menu button "Søk" (norwegian search) all results show up when I perform the search from there.
The browser is driving me nuts. Even the simplest of tasks are so frustrating. For instance if I do a google search, then click a link in the search, look at the page, then press back, google loads back up as far as the logo but none of the search results display until I refresh. Seems to only be google as other sites load ok when pressing back. This is ridiculous if you ask me. Then there is the keyboard lag when typing, like right now, I can type 3 or 4 words before any of it shows up. Trying out the latest dolphin hd browser now to see if it's any better. Keyboard lag is still there but at least google loads properly when pressing back.
Another annoyance is now there is no highlighting of a link when you tap it leaving you guessing and hoping you tapped in the right spot.
Not sure why it's so hard to get these little things right. Seems as if we've gone 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
Trying to keep the faith that these issues will be hammered out.
edit: And how could I forget that the damn browser can't even paint the screen fast enough when you scroll. My nook color blows this thing away in the browser department.
edit2: Text randomly fails to display when typing into text boxes. On the bright side though, I seem to have good luck with browser 720p on youtube.
Im having the same issues as you lol, i have opera and dolphinhd but i like the feel of the stock browser for some reason. I hope theyfix it soon.......and can i get a homepage button on the toolbar and not under the bookmark page lol.
I am on 3.1 and have the issue and it been driving me nuts as well. Having to refresh each time is a pain. I hope there is a fix for this soon.

I agree that the stock browser is the one of choice for me too but are having similar issues, although not major, still needs to be addressed.
I have tried the Dolphin browser and thought that I found the perfect browser until I tried to use citrix, this caused the browser to freeze and required a restart to get the browser working again
Also the browser seems to work great when its working but does tend to stop working if you use for approximately 10-15mins, well it did for me anyway. In this regard, the stock browser is far more reliable.
I am however optimistic and feel that the issues will be ironed out. So far I am very happy with the tablet in general.
I know what you mean about the google search problem. I found that disabling the Google Instant seeing in Settings/Labs helped.
the main annoyance for me is the dreadful keyboard lag - writing this response was painful!
you're right google shows up blank. Usually i dont go back and fourth like that. I just press and hold the search result and choose 'open in new tab', then close tab when im done.
I just keep the search results on one tab and view pages in new tabs.
Temp fix for blank page after back button in google search.
1. go to Google.com
2. select settings from upper right and click on search settings
3. Disable Google instant
I have tried this with Google instant on and I get the blank page when the back button is pressed.
With Google instant off I get my search results.
I hope this work for all
Also seem to eliminate most of the keyboard lag.

Thanks. This helped me. I also switched from the Asus keyboard to the standard Honeycomb keyboard. Even when docked this seems to make typing more responsive.
Typing in the opera mobile browser is much more responsive. It has its quirks, like always displaying mobile sites and having only flash lite but keyboard lag is reduced.
The newest dolphin that I just downloaded this morning is flying! Well, compared to what I'm used to with the stock browser. I believe it is version 5.0.1.
Anyone else having good luck with it?
Google issue is gone, typing seems fast etc.
I don't know if this is the proper thread, but I'll try since it recites various browser issues. I use Google Chrome on my desktop. I am extremely frustrated in my inability to duplicate the most rudimentary of reply functions found therein in the Android browser. These functions include the various Bold, Italic, Underline, Color, Font, etc., symbols shown in the reply boxes on this site, coupled with a total inability to cut and paste to get rid of the message at the bottom, or alternatively, to conveniently respond to various sentences or paragraphs in the original message. I am quite willing to concede that I simply missed how to do this. If anyone reading this can advise what I am not doing correctly, I would appreciate it. I tried the GMail browser this morning, but tried the stock browser yesterday. I recall the same problem with each. Thanks in advance.

yep you missed it
what you need its an ipad, its all done for you there.
Found it somewhere but it fix the lagging:
Instructions:
■Open the browser and type the following in the address
about:debug
■Nothing will appear to have happened; go to the menu button in the top right though and you will notice some extra menu items have been added.
Select Settings
■In the Settings menu select Debug on the left and uncheck Enable OpenGL Rendering to turn it off.
■You’re done.
that made things for worse for me...
things i tried that made it better..
don't use the asus keyboard, disable google instant search, plugins on demand, but still, the overall responsiveness of the device is not good. even loading a phone app like tapatalk it struggles to scroll smoothly, let alone rendering a web page.
Again, it's a real shame. I think they probably should have spent 3-6 more months getting things right as those of us seeking to exit the ios world are not going to be left with good impressions of android. I personally realize things will improve, but many will just try once and move on when they can't even type a basic response in the web browser. I would just about consider typing lag to make the device unusable.. it's that bad.

Disabling OpenGL slows down loading of webpages though.
When accessing google in the standard browser I get the following strange behaviour:
Search for something.
Click a link.
Use 'back' key to return to search results and the page shows no results, just the Google logo and the search box.
If I refresh the page I get the search results back.
Is this the same for everyone?
Yep i had the same on both 3.0.1 and 3.1 however when on google.co.uk i have the cog icon top right for search settings and even though browser set to google instant off the sttings here still show as active so unticked google instant and saved preferences, now i do not have this problem
yep... i am seeing i too under 3.1
yep...this is a bug in the stock browser..
not a big deal but hopefully it will be fixed soon

Awesome! Fixed my issue with the browser too. However, I did like the google instant feature. I'll wait until it's fixed, since this is much better.
Was on the main google site and could not type anything into the search box. I would click in but no keyboard would pop out to type... Am I doing something wrong?

Ya I have the problem with the stock browser as well, specifically with the docked keyboard. I have found if I do a right click to pop up the menu and cancel it, then I can start typing in the search box.
I also have this issue with the Dolphin browser.
i'm having this problem too... kinda. certain websites, like xda, i can't use the back button. this is happening on my tf and on my gt10.1 so it's not a tf specific issue. it may be an app causing this b/c before i synced my gt10.1 after reformatting it it worked fine.
since dolphin is doing this too maybe dolpin is causing the problem? got some digging to do. i may go back to fresh and install apps one at a time... what a pain that'll be.
Sometimes I'll be in the browser on a website and the browser will randomly shut down and take me to my homepage. No message pops up saying something went wrong though. I just got my tablet yesterday and already this has happened 7-10 times. Does this happen to other people or am I the only one? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I have the A501, but my browser has done the same thing a few times. It only seemed to happen when i had a really bad connection though. Don't know if that had any factor in it. Usually its fine though
same here
I think its coding on the website.this happened far less with the new dolphin browser but I like stock browser better.
Giggles are for blonde chics back off there mine
No guarantee that this will work for you, but you could give it a shot.
It very well could be coding on the page as was suggested earlier. Especially if it always happens on a particular site.
For your applications that are force closing or are acting buggy, try this procedure to see if it may correct the behaviors:
Go to Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> All tab, select the application that is giving you problems, and press the Force stop button if the application is still running and then to wipe the data press the Clear data and Clear cache buttons as well.
NOTE: THIS WILL RESET THE APPLICATION AND ERASE ANY APPLICATION STORED DATA UNLESS ITS SAVED TO MEMORY.
If this does not correct the issues, then try uninstalling and then reinstall the application.

Yup
It happens to me from time to time, usually when I'm looking around on failblog for some reason. I just go to my history so I can easily go back to the last page I was looking at.
Stock 3.1, latest update.
Its an old and known problem. Unfortunatly 3.1 didn't solve it. Switching off Java does but thats not a satisfieing solution.
Browser keeps shutting down
I'm having the same issue right now and can't seem to use the browser for more than 2 mins its really getting on my nerve. How can I view video when the JavaScript is turned off? For once, why can't this device not have faults regarding basic functions?

It seems that a good question here would also be, "What browsers are you all using? And have they all shown the same behavior?"
I have the default Chrome, then I also have Firefox and Dolphin. I know there are others as well.
my tab had this issue as well. i notice that when adblocker is running it doesnt happen near as often. i suspect pop up ads are responsible. your experience with failblog makes me more sure.
Hmmm..... I don't ever have that problem with the Dolphin HD browser.
This happens a least once a day for me. But it happens randomly, on any page. Even if i just try and open the browser to the home page it'll occasionally close on its own.

I use m.facebook.com rather than the Android app, but am finding it increasing frustrating to type there. If I click a comment box to type in it the keyboard covers the box, preventing me from seeing my mistakes. Also the phone will not auto capitalise on that site and if I long press to do, for example, a question mark it always types both characters i.e. k?, c', x" etc.
Anyone else or just me?

Check out fast facebook on the play store. Less invasive than the official facebook app, and reasonably low footprint.
the facebook app was developed for a reason don't you think ?
Da you have the latest Facebook Version?
Facebook app sucks for me. It doesnt load on wifi sometimes.
But for typing enable full screen keyboard will let you see what you type or use different keyboard. like GO Keyboard
Try friendcaster, it's better then the Facebook app
