Hi all,
Just wondering if someone could help me out or at least link me to somewhere that will. I haven't been able to find anything.
I just want to downgrade from ICS to a good Gingerbread ROM. I've always owned HTC phones before so doing anything to this droid scares me.
When I bought the phone it was on stock .621
I have the latest CWM flashed.
Let me know if any other info is needed.
621 is gingerbread
you need d2 bootstrap first
read how to install and use bootstrap

I have a Droid 2 with 2.3.20. I am new to installing roms on my device. I downloaded one to try, and it specifically said that is was for devices with 2.3.320/340. I thought maybe I was imagining some kind of type or something. However, when I installed the rom, I got stuck in a bootloop and had to flash an sbf to restore my phone. My question is....is 2.3.20 different from 2.3.320/340? I definitely want to try out some different roms, but most of them say they are for 320 or 340 and I don't want to have to sbf again. If my version of 2.3.20 is different, how do I get 2.3.320/340? Thanks ahead for your help.
2.3.320/340 is the Droid X. A lot of devs build roms for the DX then port them to the D2. 2.3.20 should be fine for any current roms for the D2. I can verify that Fission, GummyJAR and Liberty will work with 2.3.20 as I've flashed them.

I was just given a rooted Droid X.
currently it is running MIUI 1.9.9, it is running BP_C_01.09.13P baseband and 2.6.32.9-g55626e1w30471 as the kernel.
I'm brand spanking new to this device, and there is a ton of information regarding different updates issued for it. I've searched but I cant seem to find a clear answer...
can I flash any Droid x rom on this device as it is right now?
is there any need to .sbf to something first?
I've read some contradicting information and would rather as than soft brick it.
thanks in advance.
It appears you are on 340 which is the froyo kernel. Most roms have moved to the gingerbread kernel (602 or higher)
Depending on what rom you want to flash you will need to sbf to 602 and optionally take the ota to 605 and then reroot. Use the d2 bootstrapper to get into cwm and then flashed away.
There are plenty of guides with more details about this.

I was just wondering is there any ROMS for the Droid x .621 I have tryed multiple ones from Rom Manager and I always get bricked. I cannot seem to find any one this site specifically for .621. Can anyone help me?
did you install d2 bootstrap first, and run it then update cwm with dx 2nd init from rom manager
edit: any gb rom should work on 621

I will try that. I used regular droid x CWM. Ill let you know how it goes.
So, my Droid X is going to be a hand me down to my younger brother. Problem is, It's rooted running Rubix. I need to revert it back to the stock Verizon software so the phone can be activated. Does anyone know where I can find that software? Is it even out there anymore?
Any help would be fantastic. TIA!
never used rubix, but on most roms you can activate
if you have a verizon account, go on line, select line or phone you want to replace
Enter esn code, from under battery
Then dial *228
If you really need stock rom, and a nandroid was not made before flashing custom rom
Try ezSBF for dx in my list

I'm just a noob beginner but alot of the guys i work with love looking at the latest features of the roms i keep switching up on my nexus. One of them brought me a Droid X he wants to use for streaming music in his home network but the phone has "unheard messages" on his voicemail that keep interrupting the stream. I have found no way to clear this interruption. This X has the .621 update so it seams from my reading there is no sure way to root and flash a new rom. If I try a factory reset will it be forever stuck in the unusable mode of waiting for activation?
BTW...I'm really enjoying running MUzzys on my GNEX!
JeepJunk
yes 621 can be rooted
magic md5 method or ezSBF milestone 604 method
and activation can be skipped with 4 corners method
