Settings for GrooVeIP - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I was wondering if anybody has found any good settings for GrooVeIP on their Nexus 10. I have a major delay and echo and was wondering if there is a fix for that. I had the same issue with my Motorola Triumph phone, but never resolved the problem.

By default, echo cancellation is disabled in Groove IP. (I don't know why.)
In Settings -> Audio/Echo Settings -> Echo Canceler, I have Basic Echo Canceler turned on. Echo Trail is set to Auto Detect.
In Settings -> Audio/Echo Settings, I have the Speaker Volume turned to 3 to increase the speaker gain.
In Settings -> Audio/Echo Settings, I have the Microphone Gain set to 0.
In Settings -> Troubleshooting, I have WiFi Table enabled (to use the media audio interface rather than the telephone audio interface).
I don't use Groove IP that much, so this configuration is by no means ideal. However, it is functional. Please feel free to add more suggestions.

Thanks, I'll give those setting a try. I think GrooVeIP will never be perfect, but if anybody could prove me wrong please do.

I noticed that this thread hasn't been posted to in a while. Does anyone have any further suggestions or recommendations? I am having trouble getting GrooveIP to work without choppy voice on the receiver end despite using a strong WiFi signal.

I've always needed a bluetooth headset for grooveip to sound good...

Choppy voice usually indicates a bandwidth bottleneck somewhere. The choppiness is caused by the packets of data (audio) not arriving on time.
If this is the case, you might be able to solve the issue by increasing the mic buffer. Go to Settings > Troubleshooting > Mic Buffer.

Inbound VOIP Calls

Hi
I have tried various WM6 builds and cabs posted in the different threads here. I am able to configure my device to say either Available or Selected and it seems to work well for outbound calls using the built in Internet Calling feature.
My problem is inbound calls rarely work. If I call out, hang up, then call my device straight away it usually works. If I leave it a minute or so, it seems to loose connection with my VOIP provider. If I turn Internet Calling off then back on again it usually fixes the problem for a minute or so before dropping the connection .
I have tried several third party VOIP apps and these seem to work fine, keeping the connection with the server, but non of them route the audio through the internal earpiece, all use the external speaker. Anyone know of an app which routes audio through the internal ear piece?
Is there any sort of WM6 'keep-alive' setting or registry key which can be set to make it keep the connection with the VOIP server ?
Thanks
maaron.

[Q] Beep/notification when losing and regaining signal

I constantly listen to podcasts on my commute to and from school, where service is extremely spotty, it drives me INSANE when I miss some important part and have to rewind because the sound cuts out and the phone beeps every minute or so.
I've been searching around several forums trying to figure out how to turn off the beep and the consensus seemed to be there was no way to disable it. That being said the most recent information I found was from the beginning of last year. I'm wondering if any progress has been made or will I just have to put my phone in airplane mode on my commutes? I'm running 2.2 NebulaRom if that is of any use.
go to
Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile Networks -> Data Roaming Guard
then turn it off,
My phone doesn't beep when it loses service or roams with this turned off.
Try this "fix" for spotty coverage.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925898
Also look into the Roam Control app.
This post was the top hit on my google search and just wanted to confirm that on my HTC Desire you can change this via:
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks -> Data roaming sound
(Play sound when connecting to roaming network)
I too found this very annoying on the train, so glad to get rid of it!
There's no such option on my Epic. Maybe because this is a change from EI22 which I'm still running? No way to disable the sound without putting the phone in silent mode. Never has been one.

SPH-L720T Bluetooth Issues - Please help

Ever since the very last update to NG5 I have had issues with bluetooth connectivity. More specifically any and all bluetooth devices I connect (full charged batteries)) have scratchy, choppy, and intermittent audio. I for the life of me cannot figure out why nor how to fix it. I would really like some assistance.
So basic details.
Device: SPH-l720t
Stock Rom: NG5
Wifi power saving mode disabled through dialer menu
Normal Wifi options selected
Wifi Calling enabled (needed because of crap signal in house)
Things I've tried:
Re-provisioning through dialer menu
Removal / reset / re-connection of bluetooth devices

Does this only happen when you are using WiFi calling? Unfortunately WiFi and Bluetooth frequencies are fairly close to one another (both are in 2.4 Ghz range) and can and do interfere with each other. You could very well get interference when using both at the same time. The WiFi is going to have activity when you are on a call, and so is the bluetooth - and they're both going to be active at exactly the same time - increasing the chances of interference. The only thing I can think to suggest is to change the channel that your router is using and see if that helps.
If it's happening all the time (even when not using WiFi calling), then maybe try deleting and re-pairing your bluetooth devices.

Le Pro Bluetooth Issue?

Recently noticing the Bluetooth
Doesn't turn on from the quick settings
Or the Bluetooth Settings.
Anyone else experience this?
Any known fixes or advice?
No problem here, and I have been using it almost every day for about a month

yah, no problem here either. I guess you already tried rebooting the device....
I have had issues like that with BT, reboot resolved the issue. Seems like the software on this phone is not good at handling sustained connections, WiFi or Bluetooth. I see wifi also being disconnected and re-connected quite often.

My X727 shipped with 18s and got the two OTAs to 20s recently. Never had any problems with Wifi or BT connections - music streaming in car and phone calls. Might depend on how your AP environment is set up since I've never noticed issues with sustained connections.
Sometimes I would notice the cellular data connection drop out and require restart, but nothing with Wifi or BT.

Thank you everyone for your input..
A reboot usually fixes this..
But really shouldn't have to resort to that every time
I've had issues with the BT when going from my car to BT headphones, where it will connect for phone audio but not media audio. Turning BT of then back on again "fixes" it, but it's a minor hassle. When I first updated to 20s, BT wouldn't turn on, but a reboot corrected that and I hadn't had any issues with toggling BT on and off since.

This happened once, reboot solved the issue. I used to use bluetooth a lot, but rarely now as my current car HU doesn't have BT. Didn't have any problems when I used it a lot.
I've had the same issue for the past couple weeks. It only seems to have this issue with the cars BT. It may be a minor annoyance, but it can cause some big issues seeing as how messing with your phone can get you pulled over now.
I have this issue. I use Bluetooth in my cars and Android wear. I never notice an issue in the car. But sometimes I'll notice on my android wear watch that's it's disconnected from the phone. I'll check the phone and Bluetooth is off and won't turn on. A reboot usually fixes it. Odd.
Same issue here

This seemed to go away for me when I turned off all of the aggressive memory management features.
The updates seem to have fixed this though..
I can't turn on Bluetooth from the quick access menu or even if its on.. its doesn't show on the quick access menu..
Anyone notice that lately?
Seems to be not working even if you turn off and try to turn on from the quick access menu. I am on 21s.

The following fixed it for me:
Dial *#*#46360000#*#* and uncheck 'Enable background resource control'.
Reboot
Scanning Settings
I think y'all should try disabling Bluetooth Scanning in Location Settings. It is a problem in the stock ROM as well as LineageOS ROM(which I am currently using).
Just try disabling Bluetooth Scanning in Location Settings (three dot menu)..... I'm sure it'll help.

Those posts were made over a year ago. They figured it out already.
It's 2018 and I have the same issue. What do I do?:crying:

Network traffic down to 0 when screen goes off

I'm having trouble related to network traffic. So I was transferring data from my laptop to my phone, tried both via wifi and cellular data, but every time the screen goes of the speed drops to 0 and transfers stop.
I have turned off Lockscreen background cleaner, Data Saver, Power Saver.
Keep WLAN on during sleep > Always
I don't have any Networks restricted under Data Usage > Network restrictions.
Any ideas what else could affect network traffic when screen goes off? And if fixable without root...?
Thanks!

I'm seeing the same thing on my nokia ta-1025. Android 7.1.2. When I try to use a VoIP client like csipsimple or linphone outgoing calls work and incoming calls work if the screen is on. A little while after the screen is turned off incoming calls stop working.

I think a clean flashing is required to fix this.
I just noticed that battery optimization is being turned back on for some of my apps (oreo) after a reboot. Its a bit weird, because it is remembering the "don't optimize" setting for the g729 module for csipsimple, but not for the csipsimple or k9 mail apps.
