[Q] Nexus Q apk?

for w/e reason it's not letting me find the app in Google Play. perhaps my ROM (AOPK)
does anyone know a way to get the apk? I just got my Nexus q
update:
I installed Jelly Bean and was able to download it
If the apk isn't locked to your device (with the encryption they announced at I/O) - can you post it? I'd love to have a peek inside!
Questions go in the Q&A section - not the Dev section
The google play description of the nexus q app claims that will work on anything with gingerbread and above, the app right now appears to only work and be listed for jelly bean devices
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I installed a JellyBean Rom on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus for it to work.
here is the apk from a Titanium Backup it probably wont work lol but you never know

Thanks for posting the apk. I was unable to get it from the Play store as it's unavailable in Canada at the moment (seems silly, but whatever). I installed the app from your link and it works great! I'm listening to music on my Q as I type this.
glad to hear it actually works. I had my friend try it out on his G2x with no luck so I wasn't sure

What is yours android version?
Crud, I just bought a Q on E-Bay thinking I would get it quicker (it was also about $100 cheaper) than waiting for Google to ship me one but the APK won't install on my Bionic running the leaked ICS build. The Q application in the Play Store also says it's not compatible with either of my devices (the other being a Xoom running ICS) even though the description says it's compatible with Gingerbread and above. I assume that when the Q actually starts shipping they will fix this issue with the market application but my brilliant plan to get a Q sooner will be for naught!
I know its ridiculous but part of me is tempted to go buy a Nexus 7 or Galaxy Nexus off of Ebay so I'll have something to control this with when it gets here!

I would just wait or else buy a Galaxy Nexus. My kids have Galaxy Nexus phones so I just rooted theirs and installed JB to work with my Nexus Q. The original shipments of the Nexus Q were supposed to ship 2-3 weeks from Google I/O so the app should be available anytime.
I think it is dumb for Google to not have it available now. If I was a developer who got it free I would want to be able to try it out with my friends. After all it is supposed to be a social media device. It restricts the social aspect if it is only available on JB devices.

I wonder if they have it restricted to JB to try to prevent developers from selling theirs, if so I don't think it's working very well based on the number of them on eBay - LOL.
I'm going to be really bummed later this week when I get my Q and have nothing to control it with though.
I wonder if the problem is just the API level it's looking for or if there is something actually missing in ICS that prevents it from running properly with the current build.
Pretty sure it is somehow country specific in Play.
I was unable to install the apk to my JB Nexus 7 which I got at I/O. Being at home in Sweden. I was also unable to install it on my ICS Gnexus with a Telenor sim-card. I was however able to install it on my JB Gnexus (the one I got at I/O) which had my T-mobile sim-card.
I purchased two of these devices on ebay.
But I can't use them because I don't have JB device!
The above APK did not work on a rooted AT&T Galaxy Note with ICS.
I called and talked to google, and they said the non-JB package would be released when the product ships.
Just received the one I bought off of eBay and it sure is pretty - too bad I can't use it yet!
Any developer that can get the apk working on ICS before the official release from Google would get an automatic and significant donation from me (as well as my eternal gratitude)!
Despite my incredible lack of experience (absolutely 0) I did manage to get the apk to install on a couple ICS devices after modifying the manifest, rebuilding, resigning and re validating it (I will add my thanks to all the people's tools I used to do this later, I promise!!). I have it running on my unlocked and rooted LTE Xoom with the released ICS build and my Bionic running locked and unrooted leaked ICS. Both are a bit flakey however and both are telling me I need to update the Play Music application even though I've manually upgraded both to the 4.3.605 build. I did manage to get them to go through the network setup page and say it connected, showed services as Movies and YouTube but then both show it unavailable. I've reset the Q a couple of times and went back through the setup but so far I still can't manage it from either device. Right now my brain is cooked so I'll have to try it again tomorrow afternoon! Thanks for everyone here for their amazing contributions, I really hope the Q becomes a legend in Android history (in a very good way).
Ok, this is the APK on my rooted Verizon GNex, I'm using a ROM with JB to control my Q.
Hope it helps...
Well, I'm still stuck in the same place as yesterday but I decided to upload my modified APK in case anyone wants to try it on their ICS device.
WARNING!! I don't know what I'm doing and only managed to get this far thanks to awesome tools from others - use this file at your own risk!!!!!!!!!
If anyone can look at this thing and figure out why it won't let me connect to the Q after initial connection that would be awesome but I'm guessing that's not very likely either.
Thanks to: Kornyone his awesome work so far and telling me that changing the manifest got it working on his ICS device, Raziel123x for the Apk Multi-tool I used to sign this after modifying it and to iBotPeaches and Brut.all for the apktools. I apologize if I'm making you look bad with my unsuccessful efforts to use your excellent work.
Well, I've made a little bit of progress as I can now connect to the Q and change some rudimentary settings like HDMI, Optical, Brightness, etc. but it still tells me I need to upgrade the Play Music application, takes me to the Play Store and that of course tells me I have the latest build. Neither the Play Music or YouTube applications have the little button at the top to make it play on the Q. I also don't see anywhere to enable USB debugging as some others have been able to do, I was going to unlock it but can't access it via ADB without debugging turned on. Am I just missing that option somewhere else in the menu? It's not covered in the help topics at all.
I'm slightly pleased with myself for even getting it to install and connect but now I'm stuck again. :crying:
Any suggestions (other than buying a JB device or just waiting for the official app from el goog)?

[Q] Nexus 7 & Amazon Instant Video

While I'm waiting for my pre-ordered Nexus 7 to arrive, I'm wondering if I'll be able to use it to stream free videos from my Amazon Prime account.
I've read:
- the Nexus 7 default Chrome browser doesn't support Flash
- Adobe won't support Flash beyond Android 4.0, leaving Jelly Bean (4.1) unsupported.
- Google Play won't allow downloading Flash to an unsupported device
So it seems my options may be twofold:
1) Try installing ATVAndroidClient.apk (I've got a copy)
or
2) Try installing Adobe Flash (I obtained a copy from the Adobe site) and a second web browser that will support Flash such as Firefox.
Has anybody enabled Amazon Instant Video on their Nexus 7? If so, how?
Anybody have any other options for making this work?
Thanks,
Mark
Couldn't you just install the amazon instant video apk?
i do not have a Nexus 7 but i have a Galaxy Nexus which i installed the I/O version of jelly bean on.
I can confirm that Flash worked perfectly with Firefox (chrome does not support it) and the stock browser (one rom included that).
i tested with amazon prime instant video and youtube.
Proof: https://plus.google.com/u/0/11312817...ts/5kE9YdBDrDM
As you said, after August 15th flash will be removed from the market, so have to backup and then install the APK manually.
As bammarata said, the Amazon Instant Video APK from the Kindle Fire does work, however you can't be rooted and it has issues working at any resolution other than that of the Fire.

No app afaik...yet...
I'd guess that if nexus s becomes a big seller it would force those sites to start accelerating porting content to html 5 but yeah in the short term those flashed based sites will be difficult to but i have heard that while not officially suppoted, the nexus does work with amazon prime

the ipad sells great and the web hasn't adopted HTML5 yet
And there is an AIV apk, ripped from the kindle fire, easy find through google. But it has issues on any resolution other than the stock fire one.

ATVAndroidClient.apk
I'm sorry. Maybe I should have been clearer. ATVAndroidClient.apk is the Amazon Instant Video apk that came from the Kindle Fire.
Like bammarata89 says, Amazon has not released an Amazon Instant Video App for any other devices and I'm asking if I couldn't just install the amazon instant video apk on the Nexus 7. I was wondering if anyone has tried this yet or if perhaps someone had any other alternatives such as Neok44 using Flash and Firefox.
Thanks
You can currently install Flash & Air on the device. Down the road, just make sure you have a TiBU & restore Flash that way.
I have a Nexus 7 from I/O and unfortunately neither the AIV app or Flash in the browser work (although it installs just fine from the market). It was the first thing I tried after they gave it to us since I own some stuff on AIV and have a Prime account. Bummer, hopefully Amazon gets on top of it and supports HTML5.

Make sure you try it with a browser that supports Flash. Chrome does not.
For the browser issue, im going to backup the Browser.apk from my Nexus and install it on my Nexus 7. Im going to mainly use chrome but when i hit a flash page, im going to get the app "Flashify" check it out, maybe you'll go my path as well
Android Market has other browsers too. Nexus stock browser may not be the best.
I had to download Dolphin HD on my Galaxy Nexus for some flash videos to work correctly (they'd be cut off in the stock browser for some reason). I'm guessing Dolphin for Pad would be the best replacement on the Nexus 7.
I'm glad it still appears to work for now but future updates to Jellybean and beyond are definitely a concern. :-(

Other than *video* the tools to do html5 are still in the dark ages vs flash.

As others have commented, Jelly Bean Chrome doesn't support Flash but Jelly Bean does support other browsers such as Dolphin and Flash.
So it begs the question, is the AIV app completely self contained or does it rely on any external apps such as a browser or Flash?
If AIV is self contained, it looks like we Prime subscribers may not be able to use it on the NExus 7, but if AIV relies on an external browser and you only had Chrome installed, it may worth loading Dolphin and trying again.
You may also want to try the Dolphin & Flash combination. I've read reports that this combo works on Jelly Bean installed on devices other than the Nexus 7.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the new KF is rumored to have the same resolution as the N7.
This should make the APK work well on the N7...as resolution differences was the major issue with the current APK working well with other devices.

Flash works with Firefox and Dolphin on Jelly Bean/4.1/Nexus 7. It also should work with ICS Browser+.
and as @stumblebum said, if the new Kindle Fire is true and comes out with the same resolution, and i would assume based on 4.0/4.1 there is a good chance that the app should be ported over without much issue.
but until then now, Flash+Firefox/Dolphin works perfectly on Jelly Bean.

Now that I've finally received my Nexus 7, I installed Dolphin HD and Flash 11 but can't play any Flash in the Dolphin browser. I also tried installing the Amazon Instant Video App but no luck there either.
I was excited to get the latest update to dolphin because it said it fixed full screen video playback issues. Apparently the update also disabled its ability to use flash with Jelly Bean. I just sideloaded firefox and can play the amazon videos now.

So is there a way to watch Amazon videos with Dolphin browser and jelly bean? If you need some other app, where do youget it?

[Q] Nexus Q in France

Hi Everyone !
First of all, I wish I will be able to explain exactly my questions (I'm French, so ...).
I ordered a Nexus Q on ebay. I have a google music account since the beggining, even if it's not open yet in France.
I'm really interesting by this little ball for music and youtube, and maybe movies.
I saw on the Nexus Q site that this is a World-ready 50/60Hz 85-265V AC input.
I want to be sure that I won't see the Nexus Q blow up with a simple adaptator. Or do you think it will be safer to buy a converter 110 - 220 V ?
I wish too that Jelly bean in France will have the new music app, and the Nexus Q app too (for the moment, I can't download it on the market.
Thanks a lot Guys for your answers !:good:
It will work. That is the beauty of new electronic devices. I travel around the world and now you only need a converter for the power outlet. The days of needing a voltage converter for electronic devices is gone. You will need to buy a plug converter that converts from the N. American/Japan style to French. This is what you need http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ISR9B6/
Thank you for your answer !! Great news !
No adapter required
You don't necessarily need an adapter, just grab a standard figure-8 power cord and that's it.
I would've added a link to Amazon for that but this goddamn thing won't let me.
Yes, I think I will do that hleinone, because I have a plenty of these kind of cords.
Another question. Jelly Bean is not out yet on the Galaxy Nexus, so I don't think I will be able to use the Nexus Q ?
Moreover, impossible in France to download the Nexus Q app on the playstore. I tried the link on another post to install it, but it doesn't work. I am a little bit affraid to not be able to use it if I can't download the Nexus Q app ! :crying:
Power is no issue. But guys can you explain how to install Nexus Q app on non JB device?
I had to root a galaxy nexus and install JB.
If you're rooted, I guess you can use Market Enabler/Unlocker to install the Nexus Q app from the Play Store.
I download the apk, but impossible to install it.
I think I will wait for my Nexus Q, and if jelly bean isn't arrive on my phone, I will root it, install jelly bean and try with Market Enabler/Unlocker.
Thanks Guys ! But really, I don't understand why Google didn't put the app for all country !! Some of the people who were at the Google I/O are not American citizens !!
But, I love Google, so, I forgive them
I'm not sure it's country related issue.
I can download app from europe on JB just not on ICS
On the Play Store, I got this message :
"Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Impossible d'installer cet article dans le pays associé à votre appareil."
It means : Impossible to install this item in the country of your device
So, I think it could be a country issue. I will see what happen when I will receive Jelly Bean. I'm pretty sure I will find a way to install Nexus Q app thanks to XDA !
And I already download the apk (not working on ICS, but maybe on JB)
I got my Nexus Q at Google I/O, but I didn't install the app on my Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7 before going back home to Denmark. Back in Denmark I get the same message as you whenever I try to install the app from Play Store "This application is not available in your country". I have JB on both my tablet and my phone, so getting JB will not solve the problem.
Let me know if you figure out how to install the app!
Thanks to GDI2290
http://db.tt/Gf1AZApt
I install this APK on my Jelly Bean Galaxy Nexus and it works perfectly with my Nexus Q (I'm French and live in France)
Have fun with your Nexus Q !
Is it so difficult to find us proxy server?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Thank you Irvi!
@unclesem: I tried proxies, but it didn't seem to work, but then again I didn't try that hard.

downloading adobe touch

i want to download adobe photoshot touch on the nexus. it says its not compatible but i have read forums of people getting it to work. i bought the app on a previous owned tablet . would it be possible to trick the nexus 7 to think its another tab so i could download it? or do it on my galaxy nexus and extract the app?

[Q] Issue downloading purchased play movies for offline viewing

Nexus 7 2013 WiFi Rooted Stock ROM
When I try to download one of my movies with my Nexus 7 for offline use I get an error that says "Your account has been used to download videos on too many devices". Google won't provide support because I am rooted. I am able to download movies on my Nexus 5 without issue. Has anyone else been experiencing similar issues? Did I do something wrong while rooting? Any help is appreciated.
How many devices have you approved to download movies too? Most have some limit on it and you can go to whoever the site is and sign into your account and then you can delete the ones you don't use as much and then you can sign in on your new devices and approve them to download.
I know Netflix allows only five devices such as my bluray player x 2, my 2 Nexus 7's and my Note 3. If I want to watch it on another device I have to delete one of the already approved devices, such as one if the bluray players, to get back to a total of 4 and then I could approve one of my other devices like one of my iPhones to watch movies on.
The same type of thing applies to other sites and total number of devices allowed to download per account.
Hope that cured your problem! Good luck!!!

I've tried that with no change. I am able to add my fiancés account as a user on the tablet and download her movies to offline.
I use to let an old girlfriend use my account.... All of a sudden I was knocked off my devices. Turns out she told her sister, nieces and nephews about it. How did I find out, I went to devices and found theirs had replaced mine... Then confronted them... What fun!
Good luck!
