Galaxy Note Lte 10.1 Turns On By Itsself!! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hello people and thank you for the wonderful job you are doing, i am new member to this community given that i just got my first android tablet!!
When i unpacked my 4g (lte) note 10.1 tablet, before i do anything, i plugged it so to charge it... 5 mins after the tablet turned on by its self.... i thought it was something random, so i turned it off again... 5 mins after same story!!!
I went to the store and they replaced it for me, but guess what... the new tablet is doing exactly the same thing...
Is that normal? i suppose not!!!
But if it is normal, how can i disable it? given that i ve been told that it is best to charge the device when it's turned off!!
p.s any tips regarding charging are welcome
thank you in advance for any kind of help you may provide

Welcome, but unfortunately you posted in the wrong forum. This is about the GTab 10.1 and not Note
Just a small hint as I dont have one myself.
Plug it in and let it load for at least half a day and then you can have lots of fun with it. Stay calm, wait and let it load

Please help...bricked or not???

Sorry for my english but it's not my first language, even not second, so apologies.
So my problem... i don't like to post and don't post so much but i'm here every day. I have some devices and i love flashing and trying every new rom. I'm not a noob and nor dev. Just a simple user who's second life everyday is xda.
I just want to know if my HD2 is bricked or not. So the phone do not boot up, screen do not turn on, button backlight, or charging led. Nothing. It was installed with magldr. First i was thinking that battery was dead and with magldr do not charge and that's why do not boot. But no... today i have bought from somebody a docking charger with spare battery charger and 2 batteries. No luck. I have disassembled my leo and took a look in it. If i try to turn on i see that the vibration motor turns on for a half of second and than nothing happens.
I'ts not so very big problem if it is bricked (while i have a DHD, an SE xperia neoV, an asus tf101g, and next week i will buy a galaxy nexus too) but i don't want to take it in box if it can be bringed back to life. I just want to know what can cause this , if somebody knows what can i try feel free to answer.
P.S. no do not boots in bootloader also. Last time was installed with android via magldr, no OC, and all happend when i was driving my car using navigation on it. Simply turned off. It seem like the bootloader was deleted or don't know. Also battery pins checked. It can be defective mainboard or what???
Thanx in advance.

Yeah i agree with you but then why is vibration motor moving? Also i know that it doesn't matter but i have the original car charger from htc, and the phone was not plugged in, battery was at starting the navigation app at about 80% and after 10 minutes was the phone dead.

a few times on both by hd2's, I've come across a situation where some app/process hangs, the phone freezes or becomes really sluggish, and the phone starts to get hot at the bottom on the back. I always pull teh battery smartish, but perhaps yours did the same, and it burned itself out. Its well known that the hd2 suffers from heat.
Perhaps give the freezer trick a go, see what happens.

I think thats just some kind of myth. I bet I have flashed my HD2 OVER 150 times, a lot of experimenting of windows mobile, and later went on to Android. I did have a problem with a HD2 to vibrate 5/7 times and then freeze, in any way. Even when I flashed. I had trouble booting it too, but removing the battery for 30 minutes worked.
Thanks for your answer. I will contact him maybe he can help me.
I think too that the flashing limit is just a myth. I was flashing roms more than 300times and with no issues. My Leo was a survivor two times made bath and even after was fully functioning. Last months i was using just for gps and playing with roms.
If i can't fix it i want to give it for somebody from hd2 forums. If you are near Gütersloh in germany and you were contributing with something for Hd2 community feel free contact me and i will give you for free. No shipment because i can't send it, but if you are from other country and you have somebody that can send it to you tell him to come here contact me and we will see what we can do. There is the phone, 3batteries, docking station with one extra place for battery charge, original and silicon case.
I WANT TO WAIT ONE WEEK FROM NOW IF I CAN'T FIX IT I WILL TELL YOU AND EVERYBODY CAN CONTACT ME. REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST BE A DEV OR THEMER BECAUSE I WON'T GIVE IT FOR EVERYDAY USER WHO DID NOTHING FOR THE COMMUNITY. I CAN'T DONATE, LET THIS BE MY DONATION.
THANKS

Mate, i am from Hannover, which is not too far off your location. I might be able to help you with some advice. I am under pressure at work at the moment and cant reply in detail now but hang in there i will get back to you asap. Sorry cannot help right now.
There is two possible causes i can think of.
and btw: the flashing counter is not a myth. the Chip counts the number of flashes. But i don't think it has a kill switch. That is bull****. It's just for HTC to tell how often it was flashed and judge what users did to it.

Source? Never heard of this before. (Also, surely only ruu based flashes would register, the firmware wouldn't see android flashes, so it would be a hugely incorrect figure)

Hi Samsamuel,
good question. It is something i came across recently when my device got killed and i bought a new one with a brick. I did a lot of research (tried to find a way to get rid of the brick myself) but since the mentioning of the counter was something of little interest to me at the time i didn't take note of where i read it. It might be only HearSay and not be a proven fact, additionally, i was thinking the same about the RUU flashes and the android flashes. Most likely only the RUU flashes are counted. Maybe the part of the chip that holds the clocks for call time counting also holds a flash counter? Something i find a reasonable assumption. Further, i read about it in the environment of the whole jtag-programming world where i think i came across a page stating that their programming box resets the flash counters. i can't remember if that was the RIFF box or some other lesser known box. The RIFF box at last does not seem to feature it if i look it up now.
So, long story short, it might also just be a marketing gag for those believing in the Myth of a killswitch. As i said, i don't believe that but think flash counters aren't that far off reality and to answer your question: i cannot prove it. I just read it somewhere.

Ok here is a random search results collection of threads with similar issues related to overheating and broken solder Points on the CPU. You can read through them to get an idea of whats coming up to you.
Number 1
Number 2
Number 3 - by far the best one on overheating and breaking/fixing the CPU solder points!
And here the Help i can offer you for the scenario where your HD2 is "just" a brick - which is way more easy to fix! This is the Guy who successfully unbricked my HD2:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/HTC-Bootload...TAG-/320848960362?pt=PDAs&hash=item4ab4169b6a
BIG RED HINT: This guy has just bought himself an Infrared soldering station which could be used to re-solder the BGA connections for the CPU if them are broken! Read more about it on Link 3 up above. That dude is MASSIVE! Respect for his work is the word of the day! If you ask that guy with the soldering station he might be interested in doing a try on your device. He's learning, you are gaining if he succeeds. If he doesn't he still learned something and you helped the community by making him smarter
And there is another one in Austria who knows more about the Device and the possibilities and he was the first one ever to mention a HTC WhiteCard (for real, i searched the net and didn't find that term anywhere), i have never heard of that before but it seems to be a universal sim card that can set any HTC device S-OFF and according to that dude it costs a sum with 5 digits and he got one. It does exactly the same as the XTC Clip. amazing story anyhow , he is called Harald Kubovy and can be contacted here: Entsperren.net
Why did i not choose him? Further away, longer wait, 5 euros more. But he seemed to know A LOT.
And one last note: i don't think it is necessary for you to come over to my place as i cannot directly help you. I am not the kinda guy who fixes hardware. I fiddle around with software a lot and i am VERY tempted to buy a RIFF Box but then again i wouldn't really know how to work it and it costs quite a sum and then it sits here and i cannot use it effectively to get my money back out of it so i'd rather not toy around with it. BUT i can let you have all my research knowledge from my own desaster last week. Read above.
Cheers mate and good luck for your Quest for salvation. PLease feel free to contact me if there are any more questions.
Good night.
I have exactly the same problem as you, I turned off my phone and since then It just wont turn back on no charging light nothing except a small vibrate for half a second when I remove the battery and reinsert it.
Have you found any solution at all?
Hello maximillion,
Read my post above yours. If you happen to be in Germany contact the Ebay guy I linked to. He's good and your phone probably is just bricked. Happens sometimes.
If you are not in Germany I recommend searching your local Ebay for someone who does JTAG repairs. Or check for the search term "riff box" and "jtag".

N800 dead while flashing

Hi guys. I was trying to update my Tab10.1, and almost at the end the flashing process has failed. I am trying to post a splash about the error message but the forum does not allow it to me
Now the tablet does not boot up any more, is not even being recognized by the PC when i plug it in.
I put a testet in the battery, and when i press the power button, the charge starts going down very fast, which means it is not wroken at all.
Any one has a clue what to do to bring back to life??
thanks
First of all are you talking abt tab 2 or note N8000 ?

From looking over the Samsung galaxy note forum here, some one else is having battery problems. Depending on where and when you got it, you might be able to return it. Otherwise, only suggestion is to pop off the back, remove the battery and plug it back in.

I alredy tried that. Even with another battery fully charged in another tablet.
Any other suggestions??
thanks
Well as has been said before the N8000 is the NOTE 10.1, the TAB 2 10.1 models are p5100 p5110 and p5113. If you flashed something for one of those on your N8000 then you have most likely HARD bricked it.
You could try the Unbrickable Resurrector or possible a USB Jig if there is one that works with your tablet.
I think you flashed the wrong rom to your device and you've hard bricked it.
It's now a paper weight. Find papers. Please read next time!
the only 800 or 8000 that has a tab name attached to it is the Galaxy Tab SCH-I800 for Verizon, even if that is the one you have you flashed a ROM for the WRONG device as that would be a TAB, NOT a TAB 2.
This is a proto device guys. I know what i am doing, is not a wrong firmware the one i am trying to install.
The problem was when odin tried to write the nand.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/n8000.jpg/
I tried disconnecting battery, and placing it back on. There's no much else to try. The battery charges if you plug it with itys charger. I measured that with a tester, but the PC is not recognizing it anymore.
A been trying to find a jig for tablets, but as far as i know, there's still no solution for that.
I already got another sample from the OEM, but i would like to keep this one for my own, they never ask for crap back
thanks

I am awaiting for about 100 respondents then i make some stats and wil publish that on xda, or samsung has to pay me 10 million dollar and give every user their money back... but i dont expect that so i wil post the stats as soon as possible.
ATM i have 25 responses so its not possible to say something very interesting but this is my view atm.
- half is blue half is white. (earlyer i heard it would be only blue)
- most users say they didn't root
- most users reported that they notice some lags and bugs one or two weeks before the phone died.
ATM 40 respondents keep reporting :good:
This thread should be sticky as it is very important. Samsung should make public their problems which affecting more and more of us and fix it or atleast fix it for free when time comes no matter is under warranty or not, because is their fault and nobody paying 600euros/700$ for a phone should pay extra to get it fixed when is Samsung's fault.
Done my part.
all the 54 people who filled in the form thank you:good:
BUT IF YOU DIDN'T .... AND YOUR S3 DIED .....

After this $am$ung will have to make an official statement and replace all faulty devices for free. Things like this are not acceptable from ,,smartphone of year''. Nothing to complain about the device i own 2 of them and i love them with all my heart and i cannot ask for more at the moment, but things like this should not happen. Only here are lots of dead phones, but who knows actually how many are out there from people who doesn't even know/access this forum? Samsung should take action about this ASAP, if not maybe we can do something more and get together some of us with affected devices and call samsung in court.

Anybody knows perhaps how many S3 users are on XDA? This way we may estimate what is the percentage of S3 out there which got suicide.

Can we please have an update on the trends?
I have the Verizon variant and had major problems with mine suddenly. My phone would freeze and then not boot again. Flashing a rom would get it to work for a few minutes then it'd freeze again. I'd have to try to boot to recovery about 10 times before it would actually boot recovery (CWM). The phone would even exit odin mode during the middle of odin flashes. I got the phone replaced about a month ago. Pain in the butt though.

[Q] battery issue please help

Hi I m having a "not very big" but weird battery issue with my n10, I think it's related to battery calibration.
It happened to me twice two weeks apart that my nexus at battery once 80% and once 60% starts suddenly to be very laggy and the screen flickers and become dim and then bright then dim and so for about 10-15 sec. Then it goes off and its completely dead.!!
After connecting it to the charger for 2-3 min I became able to turn it on and the battery becomes 0% and charging...
Another time it [email protected] 85% I turned it off for few minutes and when turned it on it became 35% !!
Im on stock 4.2.2 with Franco kennel r8
I don't know if this is battery calibration issue or not if so please anybody help me how to recalibrate and if not just help me to know what's the cause of that
Thank you.

I got mine from UK but am in India where stupid sammy doesn't provide support for this tablet officially. Talked to my neighbourhood samsung dealer earlier when I got the tab on what to do in case of a problem with it, he says he can unofficially get it repaired from sammy but I will foot the bill, of course. You can find out if this is the case in your country too.
Or you can try mailing it back to a friend in the states who can then send it to google I guess. Google will send a replacement and he can mail that back to you. Either way, you will have to spend some cash
If you live close to another country which provides n10 support you can talk directly to the support there and mail it to them.
Hope things work out for you. I guess we kinda knew that we were taking a chance getting a product to our countries without a warranty. But it's really stupid of samsung and google to not provide customers with an international warranty.

[Q] Is it bricked?

So I've been lurking here since I got my Nexus 4 (over two years ago) to find answers to my problems and usually I've been able to find an answer.
Now, I think my trusty Nexus 4 has finally given up the ghost. I powered it off Thursday night and when I went to power it on Friday morning, I got nothing. It had over 50% battery when I turned it off, so I don't think it's the battery. I've tried to boot it just about every way I can find, but nothing. It's been plugged in most of the weekend and still nothing.
So I'm thinking it's time to start looking for a new phone , what do you all think? If anyone thinks they've got a way to get it to boot up, just let me know, I'll give it a shot.
Thanks!
It sounds like it died. I don't have any suggestions on how to get it running if it doesn't even turn on.

No, if I plug it in to the PC it doesn't see it all.
I read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/tutorial-how-to-unbrick-n4-t2347060
but I don't think it will work because I can't get it to boot into any mode I've tried.
If you're running Windows 7 go into Start->Control Panel(view by large icon for ease of use)->Device Manager and go to Action and scan for hardware changes with the Nexus connected just to be certain that it's just not being detected properly in its current state.
Also there was another guy with a very similar problem that managed to fix his (does require dismantling the phone, but it's not too complicated)

Thanks for all the help, I saw another similar thread about the battery, but since it was about 50% when I shut it down on Friday night, I didn't think about doing it. I guess it will be the last shot. I have one more day left of time off from my knee surgery, so I might give it a go tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope the surgery went well and that both you and your device are up and running soon! If there's anything else you need don't hesitate to ask

Asking for thanks is kind of gauche. If it comes it comes
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
It may well be, but nobody seems to thank anybody without incentive on this forum any more :sly: I know this from experience, I've been here since the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 days!
*Edit: Ahh they were the days, with developers such as @nobodyAtall and @doixanh !

@jgill33 : try charging it for some more days.... perhaps its battery is having problems.
No way, I just fanboyed way too hard then @doixanh, where have you been for the past 2/3 years?

If you're running Windows 7 go into Start->Control Panel(view by large icon for ease of use)->Device Manager and go to Action and scan for hardware changes with the Nexus connected just to be certain that it's just not being detected properly in its current state.
Also there was another guy with a very similar problem that managed to fix his (does require dismantling the phone, but it's not too complicated)

OMG!! I just got done doing the battery thing and it worked!! The odd thing though is that the battery was no where near dead. I only charged using that method for about 10 minutes and then it restarted the phone with 30% battery. I have no clue what the problem was . . . but I think I might take this scare and upgrade . . . maybe, lol.

Brilliant news mate!
If anything I'd say put a new battery in there (£17~) and you'd have peace of mind in the fact that it will be unlikely to happen again any time soon, plus you'd save anywhere upward of £150 on buying an upgrade!
