It's been addressed a few times already. Mine still does it so I'll probably contact Google for a replacement in the next couple days.

I like my N4 alright so far. I am having a problem with the GPS, though. It takes a long time to lock in on my location. I'm just checking in Maps, and it seriously takes 30 seconds for the GPS to lock on. Once it does lock on it's solid, but the time it takes to pinpoint my location is disappointing. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, are there any possible solutions for this problem? Do you think I could get a warranty replacement for it, even though the GPS locks on eventually?
I did a factory reset and it locks on a little faster now (~10s)
Well, I'm having the same issues again. I used GPS Status, and after 10 seconds I'm locked onto 3/18 satellites, 5/18 after 15 seconds, and 8/18 after 30 seconds. It's really annoying. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Hardware? Could it be solved through software? I've tried FasterGPS, and it doesn't really help. TIA
I always get an instant ~9m lock.

Dude... The signal has to go to space... SPACE... ****... SPACE. It can take a few seconds...
Or your sarcastic..

Yes, I got the same issues.
It is very annoying. I don't want to buy Korean products again.
For my iPhone 4 and One X, they all lock my location very quick and accurate.
But for Nexus 4, a lot of problems.
Working fine here. Just used it to driving around on black Friday lol

I don't have a gps fix issue but have a different question for those who have been driving around using their nexus.
I have been driving around using Google navigation (gps enabled) and music playing in the background on my Nexus 4. The odd thing is even though I have the usb car charger plugged in the battery continues to drain.
I went and bought a usb charger that supports 2.1 amp charging thinking it might be the old usb car charger not powerful enough but, nope, the battery continues to drain with the 2.1 amp charger.
Something I did notice is that with a 2.1 amp charger is that the phone drains much slower (minus 1% every 25 minutes) and if I turn off the gps the phone actually charges normally like when it's plugged into a wall socket.
When I was on my iphone 4 I could listen to music, use a tomtom app while charging my phone. At the same time. Why does the nexus 4 use so much power with the gps turned on?
Is everyone experiencing this? if not which car charger do you use?

Another thing I have noticed during my gps experience is that if I listen to music and charge the phone at the same time , there is a high pitch noise in the background that is really annoying. Is there a way to stop this from happening? And is this normal?

That's pretty much a maximum-drain scenario, with both the GPS and cell radios going and (during the day, at least) the screen brightness very high. I haven't done a lot of experimenting, but I looked at my battery graph after about a 20-minute trip with GPS and Pandora going, and that time showed an essentially horizontal, but squiggly, line -- my battery was at 80% at the beginning and the end. (It does charge when I'm not using navigation, though.)
I've had a similar scenario with previous phones. Generally speaking, when I'm using navigation, there are significant times when nothing is happening ("Stay on Route XXX for 21 miles"), so I turn off the display during those intervals to let the battery charge. I still get the voice prompt in time to turn the screen back on to see my next turn, so it's not a big loss.
Battery should charge regardless. Is your charger showing up as USB? Many car chargers are optimized for apple standard and only give 500ma to other devices. It is a quick and easy mod to fix it though just need to solder 2 pins together, plenty of tutorials online and discussion under any charger on amazon.

Turning off the screen sounds like a good idea, I will try and see if it improves. Been reading around lots and this seems to be the only solution. Just glad this isn't due to a bug or a defect unit.
Extra information: the 2.1 amp usb car charger when plugged into my phone shows AC charging mode.

I found a solution for my battery draining while using gps problem. The reason seems to be related to the data cable that is supplied with the phone. I bought an off market micro usb cable from eBay and when I used that in my car, whilst using google navigation, the phone charges up as normal.
I hope this help others too.

GPS working perfectly here. Even the very first fix on the very first day happened in <5 sec.
My GPS is terrible. It's been 4 minutes and still nothing. I'm using an app and see that i'm bouncing between 3 and 4 satellite fixes, but you need 6 to be locked on. the signal is also very low for all the satellites.
Could it be that I'm in Taiwan?
I've posted on another forum about this issue, but I didn't see this one until now. I had problems with GPS right away when I got my N4 on 12/10, so I did an RMA and got another Nexus 4 yesterday. New one's GPS is much better. (It has another problem...its volume rocker is wiggly and wobbly! I'll live with it). However, the first N4 seemed to do better yesterday than it had in the 10 days before. I have no idea why....there were no "fixes" put on or anything that would make it work better. Anyway, it sounds like some of you might have defective ones, and maybe you should RMA it. Just be prepared to possibly have a different problem when you get a new one!
Hello community, please help:
I've been getting 5 beeps, which drop in volume, whenever i play a certain game (Plague inc.). A temp monitor shows only 80*F. It is rooted w/ SmoothROM 4.2. One time, it did the 5beep cycle and i kept playing, and the screen looked like I pulled the electrical plug on an old school tv(Zap! then power off). Now, i sometimes will see very fast horizontal line glitches while doing any task on it. I've tried to search but couldn't find anything Nexus 7 specific. Also, couldn't find what 5 beeps in decreasing volume meant in the Nexus 7 guidebook. I really dont wanna fry my first tablet
Thank you!!!

Hmmmmm I've never heard of that. It sounds like your GPU could be overheating and rebooting for safety. Do you have it oc'ed or anything?

i think i read someone else having this prob and your right it came down to overheating, also check your battery status's to see if the power droped from say 70-20% i think i remember that was a symptom the over guy had and also the visual lines after.
srry not much help thou
Hello all,
I ordered and received my nexus 7 around 2 weeks ago from the play-store. Last night it died, so this morning I hooked it up to the charger and let it charge while I went to classes. I get back around 6 hours later expecting it to be fully charged and I hit the unlock button and nothing happens. I then proceed to make sure it's plugged in and of course it is. So I unplug it and plug it back in, and about a minute and a half later, it turns on, makes the "low battery" noise, then makes an odd ring twice I've never heard before (may be the notification ring) and then it shuts off again and the screen gets weird lines across it and such. I've tried multiple outlets and a few usb ports on my pc and still nothing... I'm currently running paranoid android and franco's kernel. Please help!!!
Thanks,
Chughes13x

And it's fixed! Thanks a ton!
When I put my phone on the charging orb, sometimes the screen comes on and I get the notification sound to indicate it's charging, sometimes I don't. Either way it charges. What gives?

No, that's not it at all. My ringer is always on, yet I get the notification about 20% of the time and no notification about 80% of the time.
If I had to guess, it has something to do with charge level and time since last on charger. If the charge level is below a certain amount (60% or so, don't know the exact #) AND it's been awhile since the phone was on the charger, I get the notification almost evry time. If the charge is high OR the phone was recently on the charger, I get no notification (but it still charges fine).
Google probably did this so that it doesn't disturb you when you put it on the charger for a touch up during the day. I just want to know what the exact parameters are and if there's a way to modify them.

Completely stock.
I saw another site that said the notification plays anytime the battery is under 90%.
But that can't be right either. Yesterday I got the notification when I put it on and it had 91% at the time, later in the day I put it on the charger at 59% and no notification.
It seems random.
Mine does it too and when the sound comes on it only plays a millisecond of it sometimes and plays the full charging noise sometimes ... I'm rooted on project E.L.E with faux kernel so I figured it had something to do with that so didn't think too much about it

Just tried to make a call while the phone was charging and you can't hear anything from the earpiece unless you unplug the charger?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I've noticed this also. The earpiece and the mic do not function while the device is plugged in but the call does connect. The second I unplug the phone both the mic and earpiece start working fine. Any one know why? or how to make it work?
Same here. Really had to hunt to find that at least you two have experienced the same issue. I don't necessarily mind the issue too much, but I definitely want to make sure it doesn't have the potential to expand to more serious problems in the future. Anyone else have input on this?
Mine works fine while charging.

Same
Have the same problem...did not find any solution except unplugging
That's dumb as....... Google missed a lot on this. Charging notification, charging LED, now you can't make calls while device charges? I never have had to encounter this duality but I don't see why it didn't work. Can you two try it on speaker phone and your Bluetooth headset

Glad (not) I'm not the only one. This is driving me mad. From time to time I have to make long calls and rely on talking while charging. You would almost think that Google/Huawei did this on purpose to prevent me from doing so in case my phone blow up on calls during fast charging. But obviously it's not by design like that!
Anyone have some light to shed?

Not getting this issue. However, maybe you guys are on Android N? I know plenty of people who have the Nexus 6P and none of them have mentioned this issue.
How about a clean flash of your rom?

It most definitely has something to do with the charger and/or the outlet.
I think I'm going to pay closer attention and see if it only occurs during rapid charge. Pretty sure the rapid charge is at play. I run PureNexus, which is very close to stock Marshmallow, and it has been clean flashed since I discovered this issue.
edit:. Ok... maybe not. happens on my battery as well. lol.
My 6p just started to do this on 7.1.1. WTF??? I'm beginning to want a full refund for this device

I just went back to 7.0 and it's still there, I never had this issue. I do know it's only on outgoing calls with wifi on while charging. Shut wifi off and it works fine.
I called Huawei today and they said because I used the official Google 22.5 watt charger that now my warranty is void. That's almost too funny.
