Does Sky Go say device not supported on anyone else's Note 2 LTE?

Arrrgh
Same problem here.
This is a key example of the incompetence of Sky tbh. They are "allowing" the app to work on the N7100 but not the N7105.
They take MONTHS to release new updates for this app so looks like we will have no joy for some time yet.
Yes doesn't work sky sucks big time.

Latest version working great on my N7100

If Note 2 LTE users could lean on Sky a bit via their forums (http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Go/bd-p/skygo_using) and on twitter (@SkyHelpTeam) they might get the message that they have screwed up.
We all know its a quick fix for them to add N7105 to their allowed devices list... but they love taking months to release updates.
UPDATE: Received a reply from Sky on twitter. They insist it is not a mistake and they are "differnet handsets". I told them that the Note 2 LTE is listed in the in-App FAQ as supported and they asked me to forward a screenshot to prove it :-/
UPDATE 2: Following my tweet to Sky showing the Note 2 LTE as supported in the in-App FAQ. They sent me these replies:
"The Note2 LTE is not supported and we have reported the error. All I can do is apologise for this mistake. Lainy"
"As I said it is not the same phone that is why is has a different name. I have no updates for that model Im afraid. Lainy"
Quite shocking, hey? So a the same phone, in non-LTE varient gets Sky Go support but the LTE doesn't. Amazing.
My LTE version was the same yesterday, but now it is working. Give it another try and i think you'll find its ok now .
Yeah, now working on my 7105, wasn't yesterday.
Wow. It does indeed look to be working now on the Note 2 LTE
Logged in and checked my managed devices and it now shows my phone :good:
Woo it works!
Does anyone know how it checks for root though? It still knows I have root with root disabled in SuperSU.
I'm trying to figure this out as well. I have also tried root keeper with no joy.

Samsung should get it before we do.
And Samsung has already told us the list of devices going to be upgraded to ICS by Samsung, our phone was not in the list.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
yeah, don't know how many times i've read that. the list is of phones they have so far checked and will definitely be getting it. they have not published any lists of phones not getting it. if our phones not listed then it is yet to be confirmed or denied. give it time. hope i'm not proven wrong but i believe we will get it officially, and that i'll have been using it for months by then.

As far as I can tell, there is only one version with pentaband GSM and support for T-Mobile's 42mbps HSPA+.
Also, you posted this in the wrong forum.
Hey!
Thanks for the message and sorry for using the wrong thread.
I more meant yakju and co Rom versions. It appeared that GN doesn't receive OTA updates depending on the version we have. Depending on ur version, you will get it from Google or from Samsung, and clearly not at the same pace.
I was wondering if it would harmonized to be Google only with the Nexus 4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It should all be one version this time.
Google has gone a different route this time due to issues regarding the Galaxy Nexus release. There will be one version (for now)
Google will have 100% control of OTA updates for every Nexus 4 in the world. This time around, Google is not letting any carrier or manufacturer get in the way of their device, like what happened with the Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks for the replies.
i don't want to play the devil's advocate here but is there anything which has been communicated officially which would confirm that good news?
Thanks again.
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app
I'd say you are 100% save if it is possible to buy it in the Play Store in your country. Otherwise, the situation for the Nexus 7 should be similar for what will happen with the Nexus 4. Don't know anything about that one though.
Well well... from the news I see on engadget, apparently TMobile in the US will block their subsidized phones not allowing wifi calls. To me it looks like a Tmo rom version to block this feature.
That would then confirm multiple roms for the Nexus 4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Good thing I chanced upon this thread first. Was gonna ask the same thing. The whole yakju thing for the gnex was a pain despite the ease in converting. Nice to know that this time around, Google will keep to just one build

If you want accurate news stop reading Engadget. T-Mobile confirmed they are not including their UMA calling app. This is nothing new. No nexus devices have ever officially had it. This isn't news more like fud. They are not blocking anything on the operating system level.

T-Mobile has ZERO control over the software on the Nexus 4. None whatsoever. Google has not bothered to implement carrier-specific features like T-Mobile's wifi calling into the phone.
I purchased a nexus 7 as a gift for a family member that lives overseas. Is there anything that will be affected in terms of updates and or general usage aside from the charger? I don't want to give them a headache if I can avoid it, so any info would be a big help before sending it. If there is anything I should know or do in preparation for them I would much appreciate any info, Thanks!

So is there no change in the software at all? I apologize I am new to anything nexus as I am mainly familiar with Samsung stuff. I know for instance the galaxy note 10.1 has ics in usa officially and Germany already has Jellybean. are updates like that likely to be the same?
Thank you for the reply!

As far as I know,
I'm going to Asia next few months ( in this case, we use Asia for example) and I called Google regarding my concerns. What I know is that the
GPS and navigation will definitely work.
The play store seem like only the app will work, Movie/music/TVshow/ magazine will not work if I did not remember anything wrong.
Android updates for the Nexus 7 will be continued I think. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks.
Correct.I have no book here...
OTA updates work everywhere, the only thing that changes are the play store offerings
Awesome. Thank you all for the information, I appreciate the help.

Very nice. Im about to drop the hammer on a P6810 now that I saw this. After my journey with the Nexus7, I miss the quality of the Tab 2 7.0 I bought for my wife. The 6810 will be a welcome addition. Besides the fact that im not a hardcore gamer anyway.
Came from a nexus 7 because I needed mobile data and I can honestly say I'm happy I did. Now knowing we'll get JB hell yes!

I wouldn't get too excited by one note on one Samsung country site, it could quite easily be a typing error of some kind.
If it's confirmed from 2 more official sources (and that doesn't include 'my friend whos second cousin works in the warehouse') then I'll start to believe it.

I 100% agree with you. I guess I should just start saving up for the 7.7 note
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
Well, its on a Samsung corporate webpage so that is obviously a plus. Besides that, how can they only push a JB update to the lesser-specced device like the Tab 2 7.0 and not the 7.7?? Really??? The 7.7 is obviously selling, probably not as much in the US as it is across the pond, but its selling nonetheless and is still a viable device!
I don't believe it, google translate has this as the translated text
"Confirm the update" meaning there is no time for it, I'll see it when I believe it
It has nothing to do with specs, the S2 and Note I which are basically the same devices are supposed to receive the update, so the 7.7 could easily run JB from samsung.

many products has confirm the update in front of it, and it did updated now.
and look at this article, there's still buzz going aroung 7.7, so samsaung won't forget it that easy, especially they will use a lot of common sw components from other similar devices, it will be configure and build and retest for them.

Ive read from numerous sources over the past few months. The update always seems to be 'coming soon'. At some point, I think there was an official release from ATT saying early 2015 (But i don't have a source). Anyways, ill have to see it to believe it. Spring is rollin gout 5.1 Today on the Nexus 6...We just need 5.0 lol.

It's not the worst. Even their latest flagship S series (since S6 isn't OFFICIALLY out yet) hasn't gotten it. Even the M8 hasn't gotten it.
Sam Mobile
It is odd that the site no longer has any firmware for our device. Just last week they still showed 4.3 as our stock firmware.

"with the Galaxy Note 3 likely to receive the update ahead of the current Note 4 and Note Edge."
Translation:
Maybe they'll start rolling 5.0 out before the end of the summer. 5.1? Probably not in 2015. And by then a real bug-fixed newer version will be out. (That big pile out behind AT&T is the pile of "go backwards fast" pills they each take every morning.)
But for me? I hate Material Disgust, my phone works just fine with 4.4.2, Towel Root and SafeStrap, and I'm in no hurry to maybe update to 5 with no way to get back to 4 if I don't like 5. I'd rather someone fix the Note 4 port - that's a nice ROM.
I didn't say it was the worst against other devices, it's the worst out of all Note 3 variants.

Nothing major. You can go on YouTube and see the changes. Most of them are just design changes. Looks a little lighter if that makes sense? The way the active apps show up is new. More like a carousel. My battery drain seems to have gotten a little worse. Trying to determine if I have a rogue app or its the update. Like it overall.
