Back plastic strip pops out!? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Just wondering whether I'm the only one with this problem. That back strip pops out one one corner (outside corner, not where the buttons are). I can press it back in but it doesn't stick.
Anyone else have this?
I think I'll contact google and ask them to send me a new strip.....
Thx

They will most likely tell you to rma it. They don't send out spare parts to customers.

It sounds like the little plastic clip in that corner on the back strip could be crushed inwards. You can try to gently pry it back with your fingernail or a small blade and then see if it stays.

Yikes. Mines stays flush all around. Did yours come this way or did you try and pry it open at one point (ie. pry open and pop it off)?

By strip do you mean the plastic piece on back where the nfc plates are under? Perhaps some clips broke?

Creaking back cover near speaker

Anyone else having creaking coming from the bottom of the phone? The plastic "back chin" on the phone? When I use the hardware keyboard, I'm getting some mad creaking when typing. Anyone else?
(Tried to embed the YouTube video and it's not working.. here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4G_EN4pprQ)
Very little.
Nothing major here either.

Best Buy will think I'm crazy and nitpicking.. which I guess I am nitpicking a little bit but it's seriously annoying me. I had this same issue on my Palm Pre for a while - and they never wanted to take it back. Or even swap me the battery cover. Right now, I've put double sided tape on the area above the speaker to try and use it as a workaround. I'm going to go to Best Buy tomorrow to see what they say. Hmmm..
Or maybe I should just go to Sprint to see if they have an extra battery cover.
Seriously... if you exchange a whole phone for this... don't be a jerk.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Mine does that too on the lower right area.
The cover creaks because of the way it attaches to the phone. (Set of small clips that you have to pry open to remove the cover).
Wish they made the back a sliding lock cover instead of the pry to remove cover....

Samsung have white in stock again.

yay i finally have a white galaxy s.
Have been waiting 2 weeks or so for samsung to get the battery cover back in stock.
Am I missing something, or is it not exactly the same but with the back plastic cover being white (ignoring internals that you would never see)?

Has a chrome bezel not a bolt gun grey bezel.

Now you only have to wipe it down once a day.
Really want but don't feel like tearing down my phone that far. I had that inside casing out on the weekend, it was a big enough pain in the ass (although probably the hardest part) and would only allow me to get at the buttons, didn't have the bezel off.
I did that because there was a gap at the bottom when cover was on, turned out that interior plastic was not sitting on the the proper support inside at the bottom, it was mushed down onto the part of that brace that sticks up more. I have had a minor drop since I got the phone back from repair but given the nature of the damage I think it must have happened when the repair centre put the phone back together. Reshaped that bit of plastic and all is right again.

keyboard issue?

Has anyone else had an issue with the shiny black cover around their keyboard coming loose? It's happening on the right side of my keyboard between the enter key and gray plastic framing of the phone. It seems to bubble ever so slightly and it's not happening on the left side.
Is it bubbling as in, the shiny stuff is coming away from the black or the whole thing is coming off whatever is underneath? It could be moisture underneath evaporating and causing bubbling. This could happen if the phone has been exposed to areas near a hot bath or using it with wet hands etc
I guess bubbling might have been a bad description. Its more so just pulling away. Its not just the shiny stuff but the whole piece that covers what's behind the keyboard. If I push it down, the right side of the enter, alt and shift keys moves down a bit as well (like the keys are connected to it). Sorry if my description sucks. Its kind of hard to describe.

Hmm I don't know what is underneath but it may be glue by the description. Gently lift it up a little to see if it is glue and if it is, you may be able to put something there to keep it down.
If it isn't glue then it may be clips holding it in, in which case one is either broken or has come out. Fingers crossed one has just come out.
Hey this happens to me too except on the middle of the keybaord. Didnt really bother me at all

S pen cracked

Hey just a warning for you guys the s pen plastic is cheap as we all can tell so today was showing the phone to some friends forgot the s pen on the couch stupid mistake started playing ps3 anyway after i pulled my phone back out i relized the pen wasnt in there turns out some on ended up sittin on it and it cracked right at the bottom of the button still works but bent and very close to breaking in half if i dont get some crazy glue also phone is new so gonna be hard to get just the s pen for at least a month but thats my stupid mistake be careful with your s pens guys
Good luck finding any plastic which can stand up to your mates arse when it's moulded so thin. ?
Sent from my SM-N9005
I don't think anyone would expect the spen to survive someone squatting on it. But thanks for the warning. Ha.

Well i made my problem a whole lot worse the rest of the pen casing cracked while it was in the phone i pulled it out pen is still fine but top half of the plastic casing is locked in there any one have any idea how to get it out. Theres a samsung repair center in my area but i dont want go there if i dont need too i can open the cover up and take it out but im afarid of voidinh the warrenty
It wasn't clever putting it back in like that. The pen is held with a small sprung clip which locates a tiny grove on the pen about 12mm from the tip, that will hold the tip in the phone fairly well.
Your choices are very limited, if it was me I would take the back cover off, look at the pattern in the plastic where the pen goes & drill a tiny hole about 3mm from the end .. ( this will be between the tip of the pen & the clip) use a thick sewing needle or tooth pick innthat hole to push the broken end past the clip & it will slide out on its own.
When done a spot of black glue on the hole if you want.

Interesting while right now i have the pen the tip everything when i pull it out but the top plastic covering on the pen is the part that cracked off and is stuck so i might be able to find some kind of long thin needle and push the clip but im just gonna get samsung to do it cause its still under warrenty of course its a hassle to find the time to go in but its good to have a samsung store in the area
I can't see any way they would remove it

I dont think you understand the part the broke heres a pic of the pen
Yes I do. All my posts have been on the understanding that part of the casing at the tip is left in your phone. The small hole I am suggesting is up the top end (near the the on/off switch).

Oh ok so you mean drill a hole in the casing put in a needle pull out right ? Also wondering if I take off just the back plate there's no void stickers on there right ?
Small hole to put something in to PUSH the part past the little clip & it will slide the rest of the way on its own & out of the phone.

Only remove battery cover same as when inserting sim or sd. . No void doing that but small hole might void if you don't fill after with black glue
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
There is a void sticker just past the tip of the pen chamber. You need to remove the screw under it to get the back plate off.

Advicing a guy that sits on the spen until it cracks and then puts it back in the slot to drill a note 3 ain't very wise imo!
what I would do is this: get a long and thin needle , bend it 2 mm with a precision plier at the tip, and fish the missing part from the slot.
it will work easy .
good luck

The small hole is what I would do & it is low risk.
I would not poke things up there as it could damage the retaining clip. "Pen removed" sensor.
In fact some phones that had stylus put a small hole there to allow to blow dust out.
I really don't know why I made the stupid mistake of putting it back in but yeah I have the n900w8 canadain version there's no sticker on any of the back plate screws I'm asking about under it ?
If you can do it without removing void stickers or making a hole it's better but be very careful if you start taking the phone apart. Some screws can have a "paint seal".
Its all good now I opened up the back cover while I was popping it up the piece fell out sensor still works at least for detecting that its out and that I'm away from it so that's good now all I need is some crazy glue To glue it back together and then I'm gonna order a new s pen
PSA!!! Cars are cheap, i crashed my car into the pole while i was playing farmville on my Note 3 and driving at the same time and my bumper split in 2 and broke my radiator and a few other engine parts, but it's not my fault, the car is cheap:good:

Back Cover Issue

Anyone else having issues with the back cover snapping flush on the right (when looking at the back) of the headphone jack? Also have a small gap on the bottom on the same side?

Had that on my Note 3...got it exchanged. Mine is flush tho...on the Note 4.
Try installing the cover from bottom first than moving up by pressing the sides and finally the top.

I have same problem. However you try, just couldn't get it on flush. I eventually managed it, but now daren't take the cover off.

i actually saw that gap this morning...this is exactly what i did to make everything fit perfectly...guess you really need to start from the bottom
I believe the way you can fit the cover perfectly is by going clockwise or anticlockwise. I tried fixing back cover on a couple of them and had the same issue but was resolved by going clockwise.

Why can't they just make really nice back covers that slide into place and lock (kind of like my old A555 Devour)?
