Starting in Germany today Android Central are reporting a brand new update for the International Galaxy Note. It's still based on Android 4.0.4, so don't get get too excited just yet. This brings along popup play, the brand new S Cloud contact backup, home screen improvements, a new lock screen, general UI overhauls and the new 3D gallery app found on the Note 2.
These are said to name 'but a few' of the changes. Until we get some hands on time and start to build a bit change log w e can't be sure. Post up in the thread if you get your hands on it and we can start to sift through it.
On the surface there's nothing I'm massively excited about being a Nova Launcher user, and a QuickPic fan. The popup play could be nice though. Anyway, the crux of the update is this. We're getting Galaxy S III features and Note 2 apps/features before it even launched. This should hopefully be the unofficial handshake we've been hankering after. Android Central believe the Note is now shown as VERY likely to get Jelly Bean from the guys at Samsung and I happen to agree. S Cloud on the Note before it even debuts on the first model to feature it off the shelf? That's hugely encouraging that the Note 2 won't make the Note end of life anywhere near soon.

Change Log (Known)
- TouchWiz 5 (credit to EmuX)
- 3D gallery from Note 2
- Popup play
- Revised lock screen(?) - Allows ability to swipe straight to camera in landscape mode (new?)

WARNING!
Altae reports the following:
Don't try to flash this using mobile odin! You will almost certainly end up with your Note stuck in a boot loop! Use pc odin! During the flashing process you will loose root access! Use Dr. Ketan's guide to restore root access.

It's up on Kies. Downloading now. =)
I've downloaded via the check fus. I can confirm that it is LRQ and that all the features mentioned are there.
Finally we get TouchWiz 5. The new gallery app is pretty smoking too!

Never see any new lock screen. Only know it can customize to open camera direct when you swipe (in lockscreen), with a phone in horizontal position.

Is the launcher any different? I was hoping we'd have a launcher similar to the one seen in the GS3/Gnote ICS preview.

This feature is already there in MoboPlayer, works with CM ROMS too.
I'm currently using an unlocked United Kingdom Note with the Indian 4.04 Rom that I flashed via Odin (screenshot attached) I'm not rooted. Would I be ok downloading this and flashing via Odin just as I did with the Indian Rom? I assume I'll still get English on the device as the Rom I believe is Italian

Well... the installation counter just received 100%, I did not test it yet at all. Expect some details this evening when I am back from work.
I also just got it OTA - German 3G version in Sweden with Swedish SIM. Just waiting for it to finish...
EDIT... Looking good, new window animations, very fast and smooth, what else should I look for?

EDIT: Yes, IR works fine; I tested Peel Remote on 3 devices.
Some others things I notice immediately.
- Some system fonts are finer, not so bold, it looks clean
- Pen icon in the system tray when the pen is out
- Multi-window works very nicely, just unlock from full screen, move around and resize.
Confirmed upgrade of German version in Spain (3g Version).

Can anyone with the update please kindly make a brief video on youtube showing some of the new features on an actual official firmware? Can't wait to see the proper jelly bean in action on note 10.1 =D
To be honest I haven't noticed anything new apart from change in the way multitasking work - you have now a switch in the bottom dock (between windows view and split screen view) and you can start full S Notes in a small window and resize windows.
I see from the screenshot that it has app settings, eg whats app.
Whats the deal? Extra settings for the app?
Just checking. So the zip from sammobile is flashable through cwm?

Hey I know were all just enjoying our JB updates right now, but It cant hurt to start a thread about android 4.2
well as the rumors are flying around about a Galaxy Note 8 with android 4.2 I gotta say we wont get 4.2 for some time
samsung will more than likely market the 8 inch tablet with 4.2 for quite a few months before updating the 10.1
but lets all chat about it
I'm happy as is. The exploit is fixed, the tab is flying. Unless 4.2 brings something extraordinary to the table I am happy to stay on 4.1.2
I hate the new separate navbar and statusbar: a waste of screen real estate and the location of the nav buttons is not reachable with the thumbs. That being said I hope I receive my 4.1.2 update soon cuz i'm still on ICS
The old saying, "Be careful what you wish for . . ." applies here. There are a number of known issues with 4.2, not the least of which is that bluetooth is broken for the time being. You might want to read this article, it will temper your desire to get 4.2 before some of these bugs are fixed.
Oh to hell with 4.2, I don't want a phone UI.
I do want multiuser, though the rest doesn't really matter.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
Key Lime Pie will probably be announced in May so we should just wait for that xD. 4.2 is like ICS from GB while JB is out; might as well skip it.
Doesnt 4.2 have miracast. I want that instead of allshare for sure
I agree. Tablet is running great, but I wouldn't mind seeing these features on the note 10.1...centrally located home buttons and top drag down menus. They would be so very helpful when using the s-pen to write notes.
Perhaps a future ROM...

Id say thats about the only way we will get it however I am unsure if im willing to flash this tablet in the near future. I have several devices and have custom roms on all but this one and have come to know custom roms are buggy or lose certain functions for a long time before they get sorted out. Stock rom (except voip) works so well on this tablet when overclocked with tegrak that im unwilling to live with many bugs at all.

What You Said.
JellyBean (4.1.x) differs from ICS (4.0.x) in various ways, one of them is the default app picker.
The "new" AppPicker requires two taps to run an app: one tap on the selected application and one tap on "Use Once" button, while in ICS one tap was enough. It was worked-around by Google in JB 4.2.x by adding a "doubletap" feature: just tap again on selected app to use it once.

Jelly bean has multiple users function see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960908
Although I tried and your Google account and stuff is still available under the other user account making it usless ? So either its implemented different or there is a missing step... i had 4.1.2 cm on my acer a500 with users feature and it worked great. Separate apps, google account etc...

Thanks for the notice, going to give it a try since it adds the extra number row. My wife just got an S4 and the stock keyboard on there has the extra number row and it is pretty nice.
speaking as a lazy and sloppy typer on a phone, i love SwiftKey. it's predictions and auto correct is amazing
Love the beta since it has built in emoji and number row.

Wow this is awesome. I don't think I'll ever be able to use another keyboard again. The emotional layout is nicer too than the one from stock where you have to move left and right

Hi guys, XPERIA SP(lendid) finally received 4.3 JB update
The first question on mind is always WHAT"S FRICKKING NEW ?????
Here is a firsthand experience of the tiniest things in the update - Unofficial changelog
Also i won't be discussing any performance/lag issues - TO EACH HIS OWN!
Ill start with some & maybe you can keep contributing too....Ill keep adding in this list
1. [UPDATE] INTERFACE CHANGE: This is a big improvement from the previous firmware. Apps open and close with a certain "still effect" Font has changed too.
2. [UPDATE] KEYBOARD
3. [NEW] Option to change Themes.
4. [NEW] DAYDREAM : Now, you are given an option to have a slideshow of your saved pics (Camera/Set Favourites) while your Xperia is charging / docked or both. This option is available under Display Settings.
5. [UPDATE] "NoMoreFreeze" : Probably the biggest & much needed update. No more does Xperia SP freeze when kept flat on a surface. Touch responds flawlessly on a flat surface. No More impatience.
6. [UPDATE] LOCKSCREEN : Now, you can set even live wallpapers as wallpaper on lock screen. AMAZINGG!
7.[NEW] TRACK MYXPERIA : No more searching for free apps that track your phone in case you lose it. In this new update, Sony has provided you the option in the Xperia itself. Go to Settings > Xperia > My Xperia & easily setup the service.
8.[NEW] MAGNIFICATION GESTURE : Go to Settings > Accessibility > Magnification gesture : Now you can magnify any part of your screen ; zoom in /zoom out after activating this feature
9. [UPDATE] : Camera got updated and replaced with SMART SOCIAL CAMERA. Some of you earlier issues with Camera Has been Fixed
10. [UPDATE] : Sony Media Apps got updated too - namely WALKMAN, ALBUM & MOVIES
Ill keep adding more.....Many more to come

Nice to have 4.3, but my SP is laggy and screen often unresponsive...
Using generic ROM (CE version). The UI is nice and also the other refreshments, but the lag and screen issue just killing the good impression...
it was nice to see the new interface ,but that keyboard simply stinks ! i don't know why but i type 10 times faster on the original vanilla keyboard from the rom mods , and the gaming performance on the stock one ? lame lame , stuttttters all the way

Ya guys....i have been using an app called SLIDELOCK, that enables us to view app notifications on the lockscreen
Additionally, for the background of the lockscreen, it kinda mirrors any wallpaper set on homescreen
So if i set a live wallpaper on homescreen, the same "live effect" is visible on the lockscreen
I couldn't do it before, that is why i added it as an update.
