[Q] How to fix the lines on the screen? - Nook Touch General

Hi there,
after a six month of usage, one and subsequently another two lines appeared on the bottom of my screen. I don't know if it was due to some pressure (I'm very careful) or fastrefresh app (testing it for a couple of minutes). They are not dead, only inverted (if I have a full black screen, they are white, if I have a full white screen, they are black). See the attached photo (there is also one black spot, but this is pecause a pencil drop). The lines will not dissapear after a restart or full battery drain. Is there any possibility or trick/hack how to erase these lines? Some trick with pressure, electromagnetic field, dissmantle, etc.
I want to fix it by myself, because I am in Czech Republic and got my NST via eBay. I don't want to send it back to USA, because it would be too expensive and I would rather buy a new one in the Czech store.
Thank you very much!

if you restore and reroot nook this problem is resolved likely .

XDA mini-s Screen problems

My XDA Minis-s has major screen problems. O2 - UK.
It has been going fine for 18 months, but now the screen turns white with 2 vertical lines.
I have changed the ribbon, but no joy, appears to be worse
The shop that changed the ribbon, claims it needs a full reboot.
I have done the FAT32 option on other threads.
Anyone help?

I have a similar problem with my t-mobile wizard (which is second hand) occassionaly part of screen goes corrupt usually lines down the left side then the whole screen starts fading out to white, putting into standby and on fixes the screen (however sometimes it starts happening again and again)
From reading other threads with similar problems, this is either a damages or dirty contacts on the lcd display, or lcd is on its way out.

Very local SA problem (different from the known SA issues)

I have a HTC TyTN (HERM200), serial HT628xxx.
I'm familiar with the screen alignment problems that have been posted a lot, so let me first say that I have a different problem.
My screen has a very local alignment problem on just 1 spot.
If you look at the first added screenshot, I was drawing a horizontal line there. Note the strange curve it makes at a certain point.
On the second screenshot, I pinpointed the bad spot trying to make a dot there. Note it's drawing a circle around the bad spot instead.
Of course I tried things like a hard reset already, realignment of the screen, and even different ROMs.
And also the business card solution for the other SA problems.
But it didn't help.
I didn't send it to HTC yet, because it's out of warranty and I don't feel like a huge repair bill at the moment since I have a newer device in use at the moment anyway.
But still wondering, is there anything that can be done by myself, or is my screen really broken?
You have two deformities on your digitizer layer, can also be caused by a contaminant between digitizer and screen.
On the above picture the deformities are at the peak and the trough of the line shown. Sometimes, not always you will be able to see small dents at the deformities location.
When you tap between these two points the screen will touch off and on at the deformities first.
You can artificially recreate this phenomenon by using the notes program. If you sequentially tap the screen with two fingernails and then tap with the stylus on a different part of the screen you will (with a bit of practice!!) be able to create a circular shape well away from where you are touching with the stylus.
There is no practical solution other than replacing the screen/digitizer combo.

Thanks for the clear explanation.
I guess I'll go inform at my dealer about the costs of replacement then.

[Q] Nook color screen unresponsive at bottom.

Hello all,
I've recently purchased my first android device and wow is it cool. I've installed several different ROM's on it (CM7 253, Cm7.1, CM9, Cm7.2). What I've noticed is that the bottom has some issues that may hardware issues.
When I'm in a draw program I cannot draw fluidly near the bottom near the N button. Also when I use the pointer control utility in settings (forgot the name) it is nice an fluid for all of the screen EXCEPT on the side where the N button is. It will seems to get sporadic and will make contact, and not and I'll get dots and dashes instead of a nice fluid line. The soft buttons work fine but require more of a firm push when position in portrait mode.
I'm thinking hardware? This is on a refurbished nook BTW.
I can't get to the device as it's under the tree (for my wife).
Can someone test this and tell me if yours can create a fluid line drawing near the edge where the N button is?
Thanks,
Zack
I bought 9 NCs as christmas presents this year, I had to return 3 of the due to hardware problems (Thankfully I tested all of them the day I got them).
One of the ones I returned had poor touch sensitivity on the bottom of the screen which got progressively worse over a few minutes of use. I had to retype several letters when I was putting in the wifi password then it went into standby and I couldn't unlock the lock screen because it wasn't detecting my swipe. It would just jiggle a little. By the time I took it to B&N it wouldn't even jiggle. You'll have to send it back to a place in Reno but going into B&N will save you some time on the phone.
The other 2 had busted wifi (no signal even in B&N) and a sticky power button (every couple of times you tapped it it would stick and turn the device off). There's also a few with blue tinted screens but I didn't want to return those and play refurb roulette again.
Oh, and I just did some drawing in canvas (the notion ink app) and other than having difficulty drawing a straight line my nook works just fine along all the edges.
Wife got the tablet today and loves it. I was just mucking around with it and found the nook screen recalibrator and that seemed to completely solve my problem! Whatever isin that magic potion is great.
yeah, there can sometimes me issues with the digitizer that are almost universally fixed by screen recalibration.

Green lines a pixel width on screen!

Hi all noob here...
Took delivery of a UK Orange unbranded S4 last week. On Saturday evening a couple of green lines a pixel width apart running from the top to the bottom appeared the left side of the screen. Not right at the side, about 3/4 of a way across. No matter what I did to try and get rid nothing would work.
So I range Orange UK yesterday and they are sending me a replacement for delivery today.
No....the wierd thing is these lines have since disappeared! So do I accept the new replacement (which may be full of Orange bloatware as mine seems unbranded) or do I keep mine in the hope these won't appear again and thus saving me the hassle of getting a new phone back to how I want it...Orange say as long as I tell the courier my phone is now ok I can keep my current one and won't get charged. Or I can change over. My choice.
Could these lines return? Anyone help at all?
Thanks!
if it was me i wouldn't take the risk of having those lines coming back

[Q] Warranty repair for black lines

Hello all, today I've noticed that my G2 has developed the infamous "black lines" accross the screen problem. I have black lines all over the screen vertically and horizontally. The lines appear to slighty flicker and they're constanly visible in all colors, but mostly in lighter colors. The phone is in a good state, few scratches here and there, dropped it once before (~0.5 ft height). The phone is around 10 months old and I use it intensely every day so I'd see if started happening after the drop, it didn't. My question is, does the warranty cover the screen replacement or adjustment (because I've read that it may happen because of the screen connector being loose) if it has the black lines problem? I don't want to open it myself and fiddle with the connectors because I don't have the skill required and I don't want to mess something up while it's still under warranty.
PS. Never unlocked/rooted/flashed, model D802
Thanks.

Warranty will cover it, when you contact them tell them you have tried all types of resets and factory restore.
They will issue you an RMA. Make sure you have the receipt of when you bought it, you will need to send it in with the phone.
I was going to send mine in for RMA but they wouldn't cover it under warranty because I bought it on EBay even though the actual phone was less than a year old.
