This is a general question:
Is it recommended to buy tab without 3G/4G technology (Sim) ?
If yes, which shall i prefer - nexus 10 or any other tab with sim slot ?
P.S. if i buy nexus 10 now, assume i wont buy new tab for at least 4-5 years ...

Thanks but thats why i am confused. I should wait for sim version or buy other tab with sim slot or N10.
Its a question abt if sim slot should be prefered or it would not be of much benefit in next 4-5 years..

My advise is wait for the 3G version rather than regret getting the Wi-Fi only version..

ye i was thinking the same and also i have a phone which can be used as hotspot. So i can easily use my phone 3g and tab's wifi to connect.
Actually in India we have very limited coverage of 3G and forget 4G. But in few years this is going to change.. dont know how many.
Any 10" tab with SIM?
I am planning to buy a 10" tab which supports a sim to mainly use internet in area without wi-fi. Could anyone please advise me some very good tabs?
Is there any versions of Nexus 10 having a sim slot? How's galaxy tab 2 10.1? Should I go with iPad 4+4g?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. But as I mentioned, I need a tab with 3G/4G. I love Nexus but I believe it doesn't support 3G/4G.
It doesn t support 3g
You look a little noob , you should go for ipad 4 . it suits you better. The most acceptable 10 inch with 3g . the rest are garbage

i was just wondering if i could buy a "wifi-only" nexus s. i dont want a plan or contract, just something like the samsung galaxy player.
thanks in advance
Yes they all can be used in Wi-Fi only mode. Just disable mobile data and phone will only connect when Wi-Fi is available.

Or just put any device into airplane mode.... then turn wifi on...
And u can also make internet calls via wifi.
Good luck

yes but what about the monthly fees? so can somebody please tell me a price and where to buy it?? thanks!!

monthly fees lol
Craigslist, ebay... etc. Someone out there is selling this phone so buy from them no matter what their provider was since all u want is wifi usage out of it.
Vs Nexus S 4G
With wifi only your battery will be great. Main radio eats up battery, wifi uses way less juice.

without contract, you must pay full price. Retail price is $529. You might find a new one for 300-400. A used one will run you 200-300. No monthly fees using wifi
I would honestly just buy an iPod Touch before buying a new Nexus S to use in airplane mode. Unless you can find a used one for cheap, it is overly priced to not be used as a phone as well.
You might as well just get the galaxy player or iPod touch. To be honest

Hello guys!
I have a Galaxy Note which is big but I could use 7" to read PDF better.
Yet, I am not so sure how useful it will be for me since it does not have 3G only WIFI so I was considering going with a Galaxy 7.7 instead.
What is your experience with it?
I mean, even some games require some internet connection before launching for example.
Thanks!
With foxfi app it hasn't been an issue, not once.

It's quite useful. I'm in wifi range much of the time, and when I'm not I can tether it to my LTE phone. I still don't like tablets or phones for heavy data entry, but for just looking the N7 is great.
My next test will be putting electronic docs on it for my job. It will be interesting to see if the 7" screen is adequate for that.
My campus has wifi everywhere so no problem for me.

Yeah that is my concern, that I will end up using my Note more because I will have internet all the time...
I have no intention to ever use 3G on a tablet. On the rare occasion I can't find wifi, I just tether to my phone using Foxfi.

Well that is tethering isnt it?
Last time I did that with my now dead laptop, I got a text message and email and a letter about it, that if I were to do that again they would make some changes to my account to pay for tethering.
That is my issue, I think at the end of the day being able to use my simcard in a tablet with 3G (if it really is that easy) , would be better for me but damn is nice to resist the price and power you get with the Nexus.

No way I'd go with a 3G tablet ,the extra expensive both in price of the tablet and a 3G contract for it doesn't warrant it .If I'm not on wifi I just tether to my One X
Why should I pay for another 3g/4g account when I can tether my exciting 4g phone to it? I also have a 4g hotspot.
Sent from my Nexus 7
I have a mobile 4g hotspot for times I need internet access and no wifi is around. No biggie for me.I would not have bought a 3g model tablet if it had been offered myself.
I don't carry a smart phone so tethering is not an option. I prefer a small basic phone that fits in my pocket. With the Jetpack I can use it for anything including the nexus7 when I need internet on the go.
Look into an app called "Open Garden" - allow you to *automatically* share your your phones internet connection as-needed (via bluetooth). Absolutely awesome and 100% free!

Hi guys,
I have both a Nexus 4 and iP5. I would like to switch between the 2 (iPhone for work and android for home use). I purchased the noosy adapters but have read some horror stories about them.
Does anyone here do what I am looking to do? If so, how do you manage it?
Thanks
SIM adapters work fine, nothing to worry about
I use a cheap Nano to Micro SIM adapter in my Nexus 4 because I had an iPhone 5 for 2 days before I saw my arse with it and returned it for a full refund.
Phil
I have the noosy and it works just fine between my iphone 5, Note 2 and Optimus G. I think the build quality is pretty good actually.

I read on the AndroidCentral forums that if you want to switch between the Nexus and iPhone, you need to give AT&T a call every time you swap out the SIM. (This is assuming you are using AT&T)

I'm still convinced that you need to, as per the thread I read on AC. Mainly because both of you are close to iPhone with LTE to N4 with HSPA+ but never replicate the situation. The guys over there had first hand experience and told some stories on what they had to do with iPhone 5 and N4
You: HOX LTE to N4 HSPA+
Other guy: LGOG LTE to N2 LTE to iP LTE

No the iphone 5 is a nano sim so not possible
It is possible, because it's what I do. I keep my iPhone 5 as backup and use my Active primarily. I did it with my HTC One as well. I use these adapters, and have never had an issue. Very good quality- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009APKE2U/
My data worked fine on my HTC One while still on the iPhone LTE plan. I did switch it to an Android plan just because I'm on Android now but I didn't need to to get data to work.

It's only out in Germany and Italy.
Given that it's 350 Euro - which translates to around $480 (vs the $350 expected local price) not to mention insane shipping costs, that's not really a good option for anyone outside of Europe.
Which is sad because the European model's LTE frequencies are better suited for Canada than the American one...
Annoyingly, I was in Magdeburg two weeks ago and was in a MediaMarkt and a Saturn.. looking specifically for the N7 LTE and they hadn't arrived yet. One week too early. Mind you, that whole 'German stores don't take credit cards' thing would have made the purchase trickier for me anyway since I like to have the insurance protection of my credit card on a purchase like that.
