NFS HP question - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased NFS HP for my Infinity. Wouldn't run so I uninstalled it. Went to install it on my Nexus 10 and it is not listed in the Play Store. Any thoughts on why?
Oddly- NFS MW runs great on my 10 - but it is not in the Play Store when I'm on my Infinity.
Is it a matter of the OS?

After doing an extensive search at the app store - Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is not there when I am on my Nexus 10....yet I know people are playing it. Am I nuts?

They are probably side loading it. Get the apk and install it that way. I have done this with several apps not on the play store for the N10 yet.

Thanks for the reply. When you have time - could you walk me through the apk process one time?
Thanks!

Ok what I have been doing is using Titanium Backup to make a backup of the app on the phone. Then send the backup to Google drive from titanium which is on both devices. Go to drive on the N10 and find the backed up app and just click it to install. I choose only install app and not data because the data may not play well across devices from what I understand.

Ii doesn't show up in the store on my phone. It only appears on my Asus Infinity tablet....but doesn't run.Wonder why it doesn't show upon the phone or the Nexus 10?

They just don't have it programmed for your phone yet I would assume.
Can you find the NFS apk on google? If you can find it on the web just download it and copy it to the N10 and click it. I have found several game apk's on the web that weren't supposed to work on my device but did anyway.

Thanks for the quick replies. If I find the file:
1. Do install it on my phone and then copy all of the directory over to the 10?
2. I can't just install it directly onto the 10?
3. Do I need an APK installer?
Sorry for the noob questions. I'm just learning.

If you find the file just put it directly on the 10 and click it. No installer needed the system knows what to do with apk's.
You may get a message about trusting unknown sources but approve the file. Assuming the file came from a trustworthy source.
Hope you get your game bud.

Thanks....I'll work on it.

Trying it out now.

I actually already purchased the game thru the Play Store when I owned my Infinity. All I want is to be able to use the game. The apk works fine, but even though I paid for the original app, I feel kinda guilty.

After Dexter Mod, Google Play doesn't allow purchase

Just completed the Dexter Mod to allow Google Play on my A7.
All appears working fine, except that Google play will not allow me to purchase any apps. I get an Error ("An error occurred, please try again"), everytime I touch the price button on any app or music.
I've rebooted the device without clearing the issue.
Any ideas?
Oh yeah, this device is not on Googles list of supported devices.
Thanks
Update - Still no joy. Free aps download, but cannot buy
I decided to try to re-do the mod.
I first went to Google and deleted all my accounts.
I did the Dexter mod again from scratch and set up a new Google Acct after the reboot.
Going to Google Play updated the Android Marketplace to Play Store on the tablet.
Using Google Play I still cannot buy an app, but I can download a free one. There are only two apps listed anyway. Missle Command which I cannot buy for $0.99 and 8Track, a music app which is free and downloaded fine.
The first time I did this there were a bizillion apps available, although I could get to none of them.
Any ideas here?
***** Another Update: I discovered I can buy apps using Play Store through my PC for the A7 which upload fine, but still not directly thru the A7
Another Update: Success
Seems like after waiting a while and not using the tablet's Play Store, when finally returning, I have a full list of games and apps.
I also just successfully downloaded a free game (Angry Birds Space) directly from the A7.
This is good news!
I had read elsewhere that on another tablet (Samsung, I believe), ignoring the Play Store app on the tablet for a while would eventually alloe it to work properly.
Seems like that's the case here.
Wow, quiet group here! Lots of views on both of my current threads and not a single comment. I know everyone was just waiting for me to figure it out myself ;<)
Dexter has more than a dozen Mods for at least 3 OS on at least 6 platforms. Probably that is the reason that no one replied ??

I haven't been in this forum in a while just pop in once in a while, might find better help for the a7 at tabketroms.com, but any ways have you tried clearing the cache and data of the google play store in your settings?
Thanks for the recommendation on the other site. Everything works fine, but the device is listed as not supported by a great majority of the apps. It's kind of a worthless tablet, at least it was free.

Do you have the space for it?
If so and you have tried multiple installs try using astro file manager the go into android folder/data/I think it says gameloft.data.Na3 or something like that delete the folder uninstall the app try to reinstall if that won't work you may need to factory rest wipe all internal data or contact gameloft.

lol "facepalm"
bit of vital info i let out there lol yeah i have 22gb free internal and 4gb free ext'
i found other people having the problem cleared they're dalvik cache and success...i did crap a little when it came up "optimizing apps" lol my a500 is my only "actual" ics device all the others are modded to appear ics
but yeah clearing the dalvik allowed me to install without fuss, but the game just black screens and says checking license, then loops and loops and loops......dunno im happy with sas 3
My galaxy note and a500 had this problem I actually had to go into the APK itself and hack it to correct compatibility issues.. but I can't teach that here nor will I condone it for the others and there obvious purposes but on my brothers Asus you can do what I said factory rest of course back up your loved apps ditch the others make sure you uncheck nova 3 don't save anything it should work after a FULL DATA WIPE

Like I said you might need to do a back up of your apps but not anything nova 3 related then factory reset and full data wipe this should do it or wait for game loft to update but they might not do that they don't like the Android system as much as ios

Is there anyway to get starfront collisions to work on the nexus 7

I've been looking for a game like age of empires or star craft for my tablet. It seems that starfront is the closest thing to it, but I can't get it to work. Anyone know how to
I am curious too

Would like to know add well
OK well if u use Google well enough you can find a version for the LG p990
Which if installed, it will download all the files needed and it will work on the n7
Sent from either Galaxy S3 intl or Nexus 7
both on stock at the moment!!
Tried installing the version for lg, but it won't download the add on. It keeps giving me an error.
I think I downloaded the add on, I think by using a different version and then just reinstalling it. I got the game to start, but it crashes after the first trailer plays out
Well I un installed it, and now I can't get past the add on download again. I'm not sure what I did last time, but I can't replicate it. I've paid and downloaded the lg p990 version from Game loft, but I can't get that to work either
I managed to get it working by using the Galaxy tab version to download the data. Then uninstall the game and install the LG version, it downloaded the data again but then worked.

Too complicated, I'll only play it on my playbook for now
Galaxy Nexus won't support
How many mb was the galaxy tab version. Mine was 526mb. I tried what you said, but it still says error when trying to download the add on from lg. Where did you get the apk files. I downloaded the lg version from Game loft. Which version of the galaxy tab did you get.
attached are the two apk file. one is for the tab the other for the lg p990. can anyone else confirm that they got it to work. i can't. i tried installing the samsung tab one, downloading the the add on, uninstalling it and then downloading the lg. however, i keep getting an error when the lg one tries to download the add. i've already spent over $20 to play this game, and i just can't figure out how.

can you please elaborate which tax version apk you used and which lg version you used.
Do a search for starfront collision all versions (torrent) it includes 8 apks. I've just reinstalled it to go through it again. Use the galaxy tab apk to download the data (526mb) The game FC's on startup. Install the lg p99 apk over the G Tab one and it works. Hope this helps everyone.

It worked. Awesome. Thanks
Don't spend money on Gameloft games if they aren't officially supported. I did this with Order and Chaos. Every update broke the game and it would say incomparable. They REALLY go to great lengths to only let their games run on specific devices. Toward the end, we had to deconstruct the APK files to remove the device detection code. It became way to complicated to be enjoyable.
I probably "wasted" $40 on Order and Chaos buying multiple versions to make it work and subscriptions and ingame app purchases... only to keep getting locked out for months at a time.
I have a really bad taste for Gameloft and simply do not support them with my cash if they do not want me to play it. So be warned. Don't drop cash on this unless you are seriously desperate to play it, because it may lock you out at any time.
the workaround explained here really works on Nexus 7.
But it just downloads 526MB of data and the graphics are not really the best.
However, if I use the Samsung Galaxy S II version, I get a download of 708MB. I believe these graphics should be better.
what do you say ?
Also, I'm looking for a version to run on Acer Iconia A100 and/or Asus EEE PAD Transformer (TF101).
These 2 devices have Tegra 2 CPU. Which version should I use on them ?

[VIDEO REVIEW] First Look at the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" Tablet

In this video, I go over the camera, video playback, audio books, and a few other fun items.
Before you ask....
Yes, I loaded apk files on here that you would not normally be able to get from Amazon's Appstore. Most worked with no problems.
Nice review... the best that I have seen so far (inc the Verge etc)
Hey just wanted to say thanks for the review. I was on the fence about this and you sold me with the side loading ability. I loved the original Fire, and was looking forward to this. But after reading a few posts about it being locked, and now knowing if it will be rooted I was no longer sure about it. So side loading makes a huge difference.

The Play Store requires files to be manually placed into the /system/app folder and the permissions to be changed. That requires root. All of the other apps were either grabbed from my Nexus 7, or found elsewhere. I downloaded ES File Explorer from the Amazon Appstore, and used it to install the apks.
No PAID apps were harmed in the making of this video.

Thanks for the great review !
The two apps I'm most interested in getting to work on a Kindle Fire HD are Google Maps and Google Now. I know there's no gps but I assume there is some kind of wifi based location ability ? Or just tell Google Maps where I am.
I figure maps shouldn't be too hard, what do you think ? I guess Google Now might require rooting though, is that the case ?
The device itself is pretty sick. But it's still stuck in Amazon's crappy software. It's like putting rims and ground effects on a Pinto; either way, it's still a Pinto.
Thanks for the review - I would like to see how the ComiXology app works but the fact that sideloading works takes a great load off my mind.
I'm definitely going to save up for the 8.9".

Why do you need to transfer apps? There is no itunes here on Android, all apps loading is done through the app stores. You can however use your computer browser to remotely install apps to your device where ever you are. That's a cool feature.
The only reason to transfer apps would be to install apks you get from the Internet, but you wouldn't be doing that would you?
Welcome to the light side. You can transfer apps (.apk.) files as they are known on android as others have suggested. Personally I have
never found the need. The play store is your best friend. There are tonnes of free/trial apps and games you can dload instantly.
Not to mention the 5 day 25c 25p Google sale. They will change each day for the next few days. I recommend office suite pro on sale at the moment if you want the best office app on android. Usually $15 £10, you can grab it if you are quick for 25 pennies. A few gamers and other apps.
For less than 2quid I managed to grab 7 different apps and games. Looking forward to see whats next on offer in a few hours time.

*sigh* There are perfectly legit reasons to be transferring apks; thank God they actually let you rather than just blanketing all unofficial activity as piracy.
Anyways, that's basically the answer for the OP. Apps get remotely installed from the play store with no need for transfer, whereas apks can just be sent and installed if necessary.
