Is the touch screen.
Something about the way apple builds the touch screen makes it easier to type on. I dont know what it is about their phones, I can't figure it out.

for me touch screen is better with note 2 than with my ipad mini.
The audio module on the iPhone is perfect. Whether it is on or off, you don't hear the faintest hiss. Can't say the same for the Note 2, but it's good enough to enjoy music fully, unlike some of my previous Galaxy devices.

No it isn't perfect. Every Apple headphone jack is at best poorly grounded. From Macbooks to ipods to iphones, they are all poorly grounded. Saying Apple got their audio jack perfect is like saying the Whitestar line perfected unsinkable ships with the Titanic.

Lol, samsung is the one making the screens for Apple.

I see where your getting the touchscreen being better from.I notice that too but it isn't the screen that's the problem. notes screen is actually better. Its just Apple has patented its keyboard technology which is much better than Samsung's. For ex. When ur typing on apple keyboard and your typing a word, apple automatically makes the next key your going to press bigger , not literally but its coded like that and its got good prediction ability so does Google tho as well.

Corning makes the screen in Apple's iPhone now uses gorilla glass that android has been using for a while so I don't really see how Apple "nailed" the touchscreen if anything Corning "nailed" the screen and its not easier to type on when an android phone has the same screen just bigger making the android phone easier to type on so I don't see your point
Is Apple so good that they make people think it's easier to type on the exact same smaller screen it's all in your head bro
What Apple "nailed" is marketing they make people think they are buying the best of the best by advertising as if there talking to complete idiots that sounds bad on paper but in reality most people are complete idiots when it comes to smartphones things Apple advertise are panoramic pictures bigger screens facetime etc these things have been around on android since forever but the stupid consumers don't even know that and think of it as being Apple innovation the only company that was able to emulate this was Samsung with the s3 though the features were actual innovation instead of Apple's perceived innovation it worked just as well now we can get alot of the s3s features from apps in the android market but again stupid consumers again think that there only available in the s3 or note two (I'm often baffled when consumers ask what's the difference besides the screen size) what android companies don't realize is that making a product that's perceived to be good is just as good as making a good one in consumers eyes alot of android companies make good products but the perception isn't there we gotta advertise as if we're talking to stupid people and boom android's king of the world
LOL

Apple's keyboard is going to be down to software more than hardware. Their keyboard is fantastic! I work in a second hand retailer that buys in a LOT of phones and I find the apple keyboard is very easy to just pick up and use. There's nothing really special about the touch screens and they feel very similar to all other capacitive touchscreens I have used.
However, Android has swift key. So go get that and good night
I'll happily challenge any iphone user to a typing test. Especially once you've used SwiftKey for a few months and it adapts to your typing...

True cuz trying to beat android in keyboards ain't gone fly since with android if you hate the one you have you can just download another one from a company whose sole purpose is making keyboards which will always trump stock not to mention some people may like the iPhone's keyboard but if you don't your stock with it (see what I did there) I personally am using Swype which I find superior to other keyboards so much in fact that I can't really see myself going back to a regular keyboard

I am using iPhones and Androids for last 3-4 years (iPhone, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II), both for different reasons. And I can say, yes, iPhone's touch sensitivity is better than any Android's I have used. I don't know who makes the display, I don't think that matters in this case. Just like, right now my iP 5's touch sensitivity is better than my Note 2. Not by a huge margin, but enough to notice.
And there is NO credit in saying I hate iPhone. Don't follow all the kids.
I'm a big fan of galaxy series. I love them!!! But as an IT person I must be objective. Better is better and I must agree that iphone's keyboard is easier than any android keyboard I've experienced so far and trust me I have tried a lot since switching from iphone to my first Android galaxy s 2 because it was the only thing bothering me and it still is. I sometimes use my wife's iphone to send an email and I get jealous of how nice the keyboard feels. This has nothing to do with marketing or anything else. It just feels this way. If you guys are using a keyboard that I've missed feel free to share. I believe even if you are a Samsung fan like me you must still point out the weaknesses in order for the next version to improve instead of being in denial.

Corning makes the screens Samsung makes the displays Apple has no part with the touch sensitivity of the phone iDevices aren't any more or less sensitive than any other capacitive touchscreen device out there the only thing that may make a little sense is that there keyboard may be slightly better at times than the stock android 1 but that's where it ends
"[Sent from a galaxy y far far away] *ominous voice* Hit THANKS"
Actually, capacitive touchscreen vary in quality, some register touch better than others, with shorter delay, in shorter interval, and better precision.
I have an iphone 4s and a Note 2, had an S3, S2, S1, Note 1 before the Note 2.
Objectively, i can say this- As far as software goes, apple's keyboard is fantastic. I still think it's better than samsung's, although i'm not exactly having any trouble with samsung's. They made HUGE progress in all that's related to software during the past 2 years.
As for the hardware....
Taking the iphone 4s as a comparison point, it's definetly better than the S1, a tad better than the S2, and would say on par with the note and S3, which are really similar.
The note 2, however, is a different story. Staying as objective as possible, as far as i noticed the Note 2 has the best touchscreen i ever had the chance to use. I play a lot of games, and some rythem games that require to register 5-7 touches per second at some parts.
There were always some hics, ALWAYS. Even on the mighty S3 and Tegra 3 devices, so it's certainly not a processing power issue. The N2 never misses a point registration, it's an absolute delight to use.
Given the HUGE screen and S-pen as a main feature, i am hardly surprised that samsung are using the best digitizers possible for the note series, it would be a sad joke if a feature they advertise so much wouldn't work properly.
Once I install Swype, apples keyboard takes a back seat in usability. Apple need to steal Swype continuous input or just buy them out for iOS 7. It's such a killer feature to have IMO.
A few things apple HAVE nailed is the mail client. Sooooooooooo much better experience with email. And touch is more responsive on iOS due to input prioritization etc.

Actually Corning only makes the outer layer glass and not the touch screen. If the outer glass in infused with the touchscreen, then that's because the manufacture licenses out Corning to do so.
Apple doesn't and never have used Corning Gorilla Glass, aluminosilicate glass as announced in the iPhone 4

I am not doing a big comparison between Apple vs Android, not my point here. Just a simple observation today when at the Mall, looking at new phones. I think both Apple, and Google make great phones for their user base.
My history of smartphones; iPhone 1 and iPhone 3G, then moved onto to the Nexus-One, and then EVO 4G, which I just dropped in water, doing the dishes, lol... now planning to get the Nexus-S 4G.
With all the hype surrounding the new "white" iPhone 4, I was interested to check it out at the local Mall today, and be open minded to possibly go back to Apple. Uh no thanks now...Sure the new white i4 was cute and petite, but the screen size is just too small for my tastes, I think 4" is just perfect for a phone. And the iOS, was shockingly dated to use again again, after two years of Android. That big thumb button would drive me up the wall, I am so used to my back button, and menu button on my Androids, I could not stand going back to that one click button on the iPhone. Plus the iPhone 4 seemed so fragile, was afraid to even drop it in the store, looks like it would shatter or something. And the "retina" display, ok it was super crisp and high res, but Samsung's Super AMOLED, in my opinion is much nicer, sure the Samsung is not as sharp, but the awesome colors are amazing, and makes the iPhone almost look washed out a bit. And finally the form factor and phone in hand test, the Nexus-S feels perfect in the hand, nice weight, and fits in palm of hand just right, where the iPhone 4 was ok, but just a rectangular slab, nothing special.
Not to bash Apple, but I just don't understand the rabid fan base for this thing, sure it was nice, but Android has come along way in the past year, and the Nexus-S is every bit it's equal and then some. I think with the 3.1 "Ice Cream" release, Android will officially kick the iPhone to the curb as the best smart phone in town. But I am open minded to iOS5, if they add "widgets" and "notifications" plus put it on a 4" screen, that would make me think of possibly going back, but those three changes I doubt we will see in the iPhone5.
I don't get why there is hype on the white iPhone 4. It's the same thing featured in a different color.
iPhone 5 is rumored to come out later this year. And I don't see what you're trying to convey in this thread from the readers of your thread.
Previous posts about iPhone vs. Android (Nexus S in general) have been flame fests and this one will probably end in the same way.

I love my Nexus S but to be honest, it will be hard for me not to go back to iPhone if the next one is a dual core 3.7/4" screen. I even have a hard time not throwing my sim in the iPhone 4 I have to play some games and overhaul some battery life.
After trying out my Android for the first time, I guess it's hard to turn my back against it and go back to iOS which seems boring to me :/
I suggest you pick up the iphone 4, iOS is more effective as a "Phone" than the nexus. If you are really into customization/widgets, nexus s would be a better choice.
Different Strokes for Different Folks
I used to look at it as "This is better then that" etc.. But let's face it, the current crop of smartphones are each amazing devices in their own rights. Each devices has a set of pro's and con's and it's up to each person to decide what is best.
A person will get better objective results by making two threads, one here and one on the apple forums, saying "What are the advantages and dis-advantages of the phone"
This thread being phrased as it is, in the nexus forum, is just going to go down in flames as a previous member pointed out.

My personal observations:
Both have awesome screens and in a sense both have better screens than the other.
iPhone 4 uses better materials (glass and stainless steel)
Nexus S is more configurable, there are all kinds of utilities that tweak the system. Downside is the virus risk.
Both Nexus S and iPhone come with excellent first party apps
I like the home screen and app folder of Nexus S better
I found a nice live wallpaper and I now love this feature
Android market is not available in my country while App Store is
As a rule of thumb 3rd party android apps have lower quality (better still than symbian app store)
Nexus S is cheaper and comes with no strings attached
PS! It doesn't feel right to compare Android to iOS. Google stole the iPhone UI and improved on it, without iPhone there would be no Android (as we know it).
PPS! I own Nexus S and never owned an iPhone.

FYI & facts
before iOS there was WinOS, before WinOS there was PalmOS & SymbianOS
both PalmOS & Symbian are original of phone platform, and everything else that came after simply copied, and improved upon it.
if anyone should be suing anybody it'll be Palm + Symbian suing apple and microsoft
Symbian can be found on the oldest dumb phones you ever got your hands on, most noticeable on Nokia and Sony phones
PalmOS at that point in time was the only real smartphone, as it came from their PDA line.
Palm started as PDA and moved to smartphone
Symbian started as phone then moved to smartphone
The iPhone and Android were developed at the same time its really unlikely that Android intended to rip off a product they didn't know about ....since then they have borrowed from eachother alot

Agreed. Both OS's were unveiled in 2007, with a couple of months between them. They couldn't have rip off one another because they were in production the whole time before that. So don't start saying crap like Android is a copy of iOS when we all know this is bull****.

I recently sold my iphone 4 and switched to the Nexus S. I don't miss my iPhone one bit.
Apple do some things better, Google others. My iphone couldn't download podcasts and back up to Dropbox while I sleep, for example. But then my iphone wouldn't let me run large numbers of polling background apps and run down my battery in hours.
I prefer the iphone camera, and music experience. But then lately I've been all about Spotify so that becomes less important.
Final note: my Nexus has only ever dropped one call. My iphone 4, in identical areas, was pretty terrible at holding a call.
To each their own, but I'd say on balance Apple and Google are currently neck and neck. But I'll say again, I don't miss my iphone right now.

Just traded my iPhone 4 for an Nexus S with SLCD.
The Retina Display is really nice, but the SLCD is also very good, and for me its just the Size... iPhone Display is to small for me. And iOS is getting really boring... some Winterboard and Sbsettings Customization.. maybe a different Lockscreen and some poor "widgets"...
Both Phones are really good, its just a personal preference wich one to Choose
Thank you both for your answers. I'm still undecided whether to buy the SAMOLED or SLCD version. I don't own an iPhone but indeed the retina display is a quality screen, very convenient for reading (might be the resolution aswell). So I guess I'll go for the SLCD.

I feel the same. The only thing that would make it perfect is an led notification.
Yeah it's a great device and I haven't had any problems with the screen.
In some categories it is perhaps the best device ever made. For GPS/Mapping the combination of the fast locks and gorgeous screen is hard to beat even by a dedicated device especially considering all the location apps that are available on a smartphone.
It is perhaps the best ever device to view photos/videos as soon as you take them. There are better cameras and there are better viewing devices but nothing that combines the two so well.
It is a fantastic device for quick annotation with the S-pen. The screenshot feature works well which means you can quickly annotate anything on the web or with the camera in under 30 seconds. I think this could be a real productivity feature for many people and I don't think there is any mobile device which comes even close.
Other than that it just seems to be a solid all-round smartphone.
I didn't want to own a phone, tablet and a laptop. With the note now I have a phone, ebook reader, and a excellent internet browsing device. I have mostly stopped using my Sony reader.I carry just the note to many places. Still carry my laptop for my coding needs.plan to try a Bluetooth keyboard to see if I can do some rudimentary coding as well. Note is not for everybody, but it works for some extremely well

Unfortunately I am one of those who has a less than perfect screen. I suffer from the "uneven grey" problem afflicting these screens (horizontal bands of darker colour).
This is only ever noticable when scrolling vertically in a web browser with a light background (e.g. the light yellow background of xda using Opera Mobile) --- your eye follows text when scrolling and the dark horizontal bands become noticable. I fear exchanging it and getting a worse quality screen, so I'm keeping it and deciding to ignore the issue.
Apart from the aforementioned issue it really is a fantastic device.
With due respect to the feelings of all you nice people, I have my own opinions :
Samsung Galaxy Note, is undoubtedly the best in the class and really is unbeatable in all the respects, if not less i have used in & around 250 - 300 phones all smart phones categories.
Why I love Note as in comparison to BB and iPhone ?
The very fact is unbeatable, that BB is truly business smartphone, and iPhone makes Retina display a mark statement but now Note:
1. Amazing Screen size and quality, as Super Amoled + & the 5.3 inch screen suffices for the tablet purposes.
2. Battery at whooping 2500 mAh makes it a truly lasting companion.
3. Slim design, sleeker than most of the things in the class.
4. Device Memory + expandable is doing good.
5. Camera is unbelievably good.
6. sPen is like power in hands.
7. Amazing Sound Quality.
---------------------------------------------------
All well its all okie, but there is a lil handling issues, but its still an addedvantage.
I am in love with my device, may be people have opinion adverse to me, but I am all happy and am loving it.
Thanks Samsung, We really owe this to you.
Why
Exactly
Well put.
The Note has really put the X in convergence. I noticed an ad for the Note as a Jack of all trade, and I thought that was a great pitch by Samsung. Having owned 9 smart phones going back to the XDA II, the Note is at the forefront of design in convergent devices.
I have not had any major issues with mine apart from the usual teething problems like installing an app that drained my battery in 10hrs(iLED).
The HD Super Amoled screen is sensational, yet some keep banging on about the inferiority of pentile displays because when you examine the screen with a microscope you can see jaggy pixels when this applies to any display. No doubt some have had the bad luck to have a defective device, but there are many more who have no credibility with me, like one person who returned their device because it had banding, which is due to low res images, not the device. This disinformation scares people unnecessarily.
Your thread puts things in perspective.

Actually, even after using my 4.0" Atrix, the 3.5" devices seem way too cramped for my hand

Oh god I couldn't even finish watching that. Somebody please knock some sense into this man, or hire the "wake up" team
Just sold my iPhone4s and waiting for SIII. IPhone is a nice "phone", nothing else. But for other things is too small. Before I have had GNex, SII, Sensation... 4.3 inches is really good size for my hands, but SIII isn't much bigger I think

meeeh, to each his own. how the phone feels in one's hand is completely subjective to the individual.
I do agree with him that the body of the iPhone looks and feels like a luxury product. But for actual daily use, theres no getting around that the SIII is just better in every aspects other than SMS'ing or typing in phone numbers. Also the icon grid of the iphone is a pain in the a**. The ability to setup home screens is much more useful. And thats just the top of the software iceberg.
I have also come to love the light plastic phones by Samsung. It's hard to break and the warmer feel is just great.
The reviewer does come off as a sort of fanboi. His "final verdict" didn't seem to take into account any specifics of the S3 at all, only a rehash of the usual android vs iphone stereotype.

Check the website..... don't think its bias at all he makes some good points but at the end its obvious the gs3 is stronger in calls and multimedia, the only place the iPhone wins is design and camera stills not video.
So if he does love iPhone he isn't showing it in this review , let's not witch hunt.

The iphone. A great product in its day. The iphone4 was a leading handset in its day. Sadly for the coolaid drinkers that day is long past. The iphone is surpassed in every meaningful way now. Unlike most here though I hope they up their game huge for iphone5 because the iphone is what made all of the many better handsets that can be had now happen. A **** hot iphone 5 means that everyone gets better. If they don't it means I get an iphone five. I love competition.
We are at a point were you can not make the phone any better in terms of screen resolution speed and battery life so I think phones after this will be pretty similar. I don't expect anything death shattering from the iPhone 5 . Maybe a bigger screen.

Er, while I don't claim to be an expert on Moore's law, I doubt you have good grounds for that claim either. Both screen technology and processor power have improved significantly each year, and indeed the iPhone still has to play catch-up in terms on specs. There is definitely room for improvement of the iPhone at the very least (and probably everything else as well).

I agree. The coming phone might do better in benchmarks, but in real life, that difference will be barely noticeable.
Just look at some of the Note vs. HOX on youtube. The difference is much less than the specs would suggest.
Edit: In battery life there is much to improve!

1) Last year not being much different from this year does not imply that development has been capped.
2) One cannot expect a notable difference anyway, since everything in the current ecosystem is designed not to take advantage of so many resources. As the resources grow, however, so will demand tend to grow with it. Eventually, for example, with enough cores, enough RAM, and an efficient enough battery, it will become feasible for the OS to simply leave all background tasks running, just like on our computer. That would be a notable change, but clearly it could not happen overnight.

I was just talking about the next iPhone not about the general development of phones. Given how phones are used this year and probably next year, doubling up the hardware specs, will not result in a twice as good user experience.
When you shoot a video from an iPhone 4S its look like you have already zoom a little bit and apart from that its video quality is smooth, colours look so bright and vivid. On the other hand video quality of S3 we will came to know after it get launch.

You cant compare those two phones. You already know that s3 is better.
After all quadcore is much faster than dual.
Here is a comparison that my friend wrote comparing the two devices. Both devices will be coming to US carriers and we will need to make a decision between which device to buy. Check out the review and then let me know which one you think your going to purchase.

how do you compare two vastly different phones for vastly different customer population? also honestly, why is everyone comparing to the iPhone still? while they may sell the most due to people either being invested in ios or for cult like reasons, i really don't see them as the standard anymore. comparison is great for specs but i'm just tired of everyone regarding the iPhone as the standard.

But that answer depend on who is wearing what, and from a viewer point of view rather than user point of view. Well at least that is not my brain is talking.
Ok, first off. Comparing two phones that aren't out/ didn't personally use them for a while is not fair. A6 is probably dual core A15's, the iPad 3 doesn't have the same processor but it still is the fastest(check benchmarks/game FPS). In 3D performance, iPhone 5 would probably win. Operating system is biased and that's the end of it. You can only state the features but which one is better is your opinion. I think iOS works very well, but that's about it. It gets boring quickly even though it's doing its job of working as expected. Android is way more functional and with ICS and later, apps aren't ugly and have a style now.
Okay, seriously? Siri is a better assistant than Google Now? Siri has more sports knowledge? That is incredibly wrong.
Number 1, Siri gets all its info from Google. Number 2, Google Now updates you prior, during, and after the game has been played.
This review was not completed with the best support, not to mention the iPhone hasn't been released to effectively compare speeds, camera, etc. Although, I have no doubt the GNII will destroy the iPhone 5.

I appreciate your friend for writing this comparison and you for sharing it with us, but so many mistakes in his comparisons. The iphone 5 and the iPad 3 do not share the same processor, the iPad has an A5x chip ( arm cortex A9)while the new iphone has an A6 chip( arm cortex A15 which is a beast). The iphone camera is known to be one of the best around, I won't jump to conclusion on which is better until we see what the note 2 can do. Siri is light years better than S voice, but Google now is better than siri. I'm definitely not defending the iphone but since this is an honest thread we have to state the facts. Its hard to judge the exterior of each phone cause to each his own, and as far as battery life goes, I expect the note 2 to map the floor out with any phone on the market, including the iphone 5. The note 2 comes with a 1.6 GHz Exynos 4 quad processor ( quad core) which is a beast also. Both phones have powerful processors that will make them fly. I prefer the note 2 cause of the s pen and its new features, the 5.5 inch screen, the OS, the ability customise it however you want it. But the iphone 5 is no slouch, its a very good phone but it doesn't deserve all the hype its getting. Deuces

It all comes down to what you looking for, at the end of the day. Its is clear that I phones cater more to the masses, people that want a good phone that just works, versus android that caters to the more tech oriented people who like customisation and modding. I have a friend who used to be a crazy ROM flasher, he actually got me into android. Now he doesn't really flash ROM or anything, he just wants something that is stable and works well and he is actually considering getting an iphone ( he used to hate I phones). All the android vs apple iphone is based on that, whether you want something great that just work and you don't have to worry about a thing, or you want something else that is also great, works but can be perfected to your liking.

Finally a thread where people aren't just bashing one thing or the other. Honestly just like everyone here, I think these phones are in a different class, and really can't be compared. People who go for the iPhone 5 have a lot to look forward to, the phone is still fast, has a nice screen, and can finally use LTE which is great. What I don't get is that many people still can't really appreciate it, it is a beast of a phone in such a small package, I mean no offense to the note 2 but that thing is huge and has a lot more space for a bigger or better chip, more ram, bigger battery, a lot of things but the iPhone 5 can still hold it's own and still be really small. Now I will be getting the note 2 because I can't wait for that thing, it's like everything samsung could ever do into one package, it might be the first in the US with a quad core and LTE and a 5.5 screen, and the screen is unique on it's own, hd super amoled, with it being sort of in between a pentile and a amoled plus screen. Really spec wise it is a tech geeks wet dream, and I don't care if I look dumb making calls, I barely do that anyways, currently have the og epic touch and the devs here have kept this phone alive, I can even run jb on this. With the hype around the note 2 I hope it gets a lot of dev support because that thing was made for paranoid android and I can't wait to start flashing.

I think Samsung should sue apple for stealing its ideaof extending battery life.
In my honest opinion, there is absolutely no reason to own an iPhone 5 as it basically reinforces my belief that Apple suckers people in to $200 software upgrades. Samsung ( and others ) time and time again comes out with the stronger hardware. A lot of people say it comes down to personal preference, but I fail to see how people could prefer the iPhone. Out of date hardware, smaller screen, limited OS and customization abilities, having to be hooked to iTunes, etc.
I so wanted to try the iPhone 5 instead of my GSIII, but after the lackluster press release and underwhelming specs... I was left sorely disappointed. I'll be saving my upgrade for now.

Yea, I can't believe people think they are innovators. During their keynote they were explaining how apps designed for the 3.5" screen will work on the 4" screen. Luckily their outstanding engineers and advanced technology, they can center the app on the screen and put a black bar on the top and bottom of the app. WOW. Everyone give Apple a hand clap for their innovation in the field. Android on the other hand, sets their apps to determine the density and automatically sizes it to your screen....woo....black bars would look way better though *sarcasm*

Its basically a slightly stretched 4s, makes me yawn to even contemplate it, how can you compare such a little toy to a NOTE version 1 or 2, even though they are so proud and numbly excited about the ohh arrr slightly bigger screen, its still too small, it looks exactly the same just a load of apps dotted about on a screen inside a square edged lump, these simple phones have there place with the mums and babies groups with there designer gold handbags and tasselled lifestyles.

I want to know from expert guys who have bought S4 or those who have expert ideas about screen smearing or other issues with S4, kindly advise me should we buy S4 right now or should we wait, or should we consider iPhone5 which does it all in good way but just smaller display or even HTC One?
Advice required?
How can you even consider iPhone 5 is beyond me...
Wait to see if the problems get fixed I guess. HTC One is the next best thing.
@usmanxhmed you can choose whatever you prefer. People here will bash you if you mention any iOS devices. But tbh I just switched to S4 and currently having yellow tint issues .. I believe my iPhone 4S's display is brighter and clearer than my current S4, only that it's smaller. You may want to wait.
it's not bashing about ios. iphone 5 is rubbish. even galaxy s3 is better. how could someone consider iphone 5 to galaxy s4. it's beyond my imagination.
I'm loving my S4, I can't see what everyone is moaning about, inventing all of these 'issues' with it! Just set your phone up properly and off you go.
Seriously, it's the best phone I've ever had. My mate has an iPhone, I was showing off my S4 today and it does impress.
The quality of the screen is the first thing you notice, just playing the helicopter video which is on the phone does a good job when showing off, then demonstrate hovering over text messages and emails, then gesture scroll on the browser, it can't fail to impress, even iPhone owners!
Don't hesitate, just buy an S4.

You're probably just too excited with your S4. I had an iPhone before the S4 and the screen is much brighter. Also, my S4 has a yellowish tint, which is not something i'm happy about. Oh and all those features by Samsung are gimmicks and useless, I turned them all off.
It's a good phone, don't get me wrong, but I hate how this forum is filled with fanboys defending it with everything. Phones DO have disadvantages whether you like it or not -.-
The screen is definitely brighter on my brothers iPhone 5, but most the time you have it on mid brightness anyway, otherwise the 1400mah battery will run out

@3473 Yeah a smaller battery and drains fast, but the screen does not disappoint imo. I always had my brightness on 80%. The thing is, I never noticed it until today, hence why I am annoyed by it so much. I realise it now every time I turn on my S4 :\

@NNIicckks This is my first samsung as well, hence why I'm disappointed. Can you hold your phone with an empty white screen to your laptop (both on full brightness) ? See if you can find yellow tint in yours.
Firstly i am not iFanboy, as i bashed all my life iPhones when i use to love Symbian, the likes of e52, which i bought 4 times in few years and i use to dislike Android as it stole the show and i use to laugh at iPhone as i thought it lacks basic features.
Then features made me switch to Android and i could never switch back to Symbian which i still love, but can't use as most of them you know why, thought i have an old Nokia 5630 for emergencies like now.
Used few Xperias, Desires, Galaxy and the last one i sold was HTC One x About 40 days ago to get decent money out of it just to save money for S4.
Then S4 was so dam late after its announcement, i could not wait, i bought brand new black iPhone 5 just to try iOS for the first time in life, to see why girls, and people like girls like iPhone so much, mainly i evaluated in past because it just do most things, and it does in fairly better way.
When i bought it, i liked iPhone5 screen, not just the brightness because i usually set brightness at 40 percent, to save batter, but the blacks, the colours and it was decent package.
I was surprised that you cannot change even SMS app in iPhone but little happy too that i could never decide which SMS app or which launcher i should use with Android, i was happy there is no home screen in iPhone as i was always nervous to use any widgets on Android due to poor batteries of all android phones.
I was sad that you cannot block calls, you cannot record calls and you have to pay for paid Apps unlike in Android, in which i use to find Apps from net and manually install them. i decided not to jailbreak iPhone because i bought it for ease of use and not to mess, so i given up in whatsapp being paid and start using viber.
then i found it iPhones bezal is prone to scratch like a fire in jungle, softwares were beautiful and screen was too small i felt, though i bought to use for long term but due to those limiations i bought new iPhone 5 with good loss for S4 a week ago after using for 2 weeks.
Now i kept my savings back to buy S4, now guess what, screen, issue, over heating, battery drain? now i think did i made bad choice to sale iPhone, as it was doing most things good and plus its size was great to carry it around, if i could adjust with smaller screen thinking, little is big if little can do most big screens task, as i sold iPhone for big screen S4 plus normal android features like default softwares changing, hacked apps, sharing of songs/videos and larger screen to view web pages and videos and pictures.
Though iPhone screen was very good, i was fond of AMOLED sharp colours too and deep blacks.
Now nobody knows whats the situation of S4 in Pakistan, i called the retailer he says he has no clue about about smearing, what it is, means he is not sure if its there or not, so i am left to spend all my savings to buy this fun and see if my luck is good or bad.
Another thing that let me down is no response from Samsung, i think they taking success as granted just as Nokia did and see its condition now, My beloved Nokia too took success by granted an stayed in past glory, by feeding ancient generation slow CPU when the world was moving to dual cores, they thought we are Nokia we can do whatever we want.
Now samsung is silent, no official response, are they this careless about consumer or worried about 10M pre orders?
now i am here without a smart phone? how can i buy S4 when i am not sure if my unit will have issue or not.
For HTC One X lovers, Metal is good, but prone to scratches and dents more than plastic, so you have to put silicon cover, metal gone and phone becomes fatter, but fine, its ok to bear it, but power switch is not fine? it must be pain for me? HTC in years every reviewer bashed your power button placement, and you are not willing to learn, this time put even farther.
Screem is better but why smaller? battery is nice and again smaller as was the case in S3 and One x? why HTC has to do these compromises is beyond me?
But the two things that is putting One off for me is power button placement, hello i have to use second hand every time? and batter concerns?
I have written too much bull**** here, why? because Samsung could not come up with official statement and they are sitting silent like ****** ?
So? so i may end buying another new iPhone 5 and forget about android advantages and just use my phone is phone and be happy with smaller screen, skype, viber, fluidity etc?
usmanx i think you are clearly isheep..

Have to agree. I don't have or notice any of the screen issues folks are going on about. Compared to my HTC Evo 4G LTE, the whites might not be quite as bright at times, but the colors are so much better and the screen is very easy to see and use, even in full sunlight. I guess the screen comes down to personal preference in the end, but I sure would not let any minor issues like that have been reported stop you from trying it. It's not perfect, but I'm really enjoying mine so far after a week of using it.
Hovering affect is waist, so as air gestures? they are not reliable plus they will drain battery plus they will slower the phone, plus they make the OS heavy plus simply touching the screen is more assured? and if you have to show these off, then i should not take your advice.
You can talk about benefits of larger screen, more sharing options and other useless features, please not gimmiks, thanks.
I wanted S4 to be automatic choice for me, but a phone with unreliable screen?

well. i'm not fan of anything. but i'm sure go to freedom. android is freedom. f*ck ios. my galaxy s3 with wanam custom rom are million miles better than iphone 5. not to mention my galaxy s4 is going to be. once the dev start kicking.

Well a personal question, you are not forced to answer, but why your wife has 2 iPhones any ways? is one not enough?
and few people don't have free brain and free time to waist on custom roms or all that stuff, they just want to use phone and after using iPhone i know its limitations and strengths now.
Plus, man take it easy, dont enforce your thoughts on others, and dont think what ever you think is absolute right for everyone, every one as different needs and brains, hence different preference for phones.
So if you tell phone one is good and phone too is crap, i will sit back and feel sorry and i will think you need time to be mature in life.
You should say my favourite phones has these benefits which other phone is not having, thats better

Well dude, perfect is nothing, not iPhones scratch prone premium body, not HTC One bigger body with smaller screen as compare to S4 or its power button position, but for the like of me, who is not that rich and he save some money to buy expensive phone, its not easy feeling to buy it when he reads all this up here?

I understand. All I can tell you is that after using mine for a week, I don't find ANY display issues at all with my S4. I think there is just a mountain being made of a mole hill, personally.
BTW, some of the "gimmicks" are useful. Like the hover thing. In certain apps, it's kind of like hovering your mouse over a thread header in this forum and getting a preview of the thread.
The issues aren't that significant and they don't make the device unusable. Apart from these tolerable display issues, the device is amazing. Perfect audio quality, great battery life, thin and light.
iPhone 5 is also a great device. Yes, the display is small but it has great contrast and accurate colors. Just know that there will be things that you could easily do on Android but can't on iOS.
I didn't get a chance to use HTC One, so I can't comment on that one.

How can you even consider iPhone 5 is beyond me...

How you can't even use proper grammar and still feel the right to insult someone else's smartphone choice is beyond me.
