I rooted my nook with touch nooter and now i want to get multi touch and no refresh... How do i install that uImage thing? I tried the adb method and when it came to mounting it said the device is busy... And also is there anyway to have fastmode by just installing the apk?

Hello all, newer android user here. I used VISIONary to perm root the device and all superuser permissions are working fine. But when I try to go in recovery mode a red triangle error with an exclamation point comes up. Did some searching and still no luck.

Sounds like you still have the stock recovery installed. Go into your hboot mend (power button and down on the volume rocker) and make sure that you have s-off, then download Rom manager from the market and flash clockwork recovery.

Thanks for the response. S is on - what do I do to get it off? The reason I used visionary is because I have no access to a pc - just a macbook.
Also, I have already downloaded clockwork and flashed

Flash the Recovery ROM again. Your first attempt must have failed. The red triangle -is- the stock recovery (which only shows that screen, nothing more).
couldnt say it better, Would recommend using computer to go through process just to understand the details of rooting. Very helpful,

You do not need a PC to root you phone. IIRC Android does have an SDK for apple computers
any who you can turn s=off via a script. The Unlockr has a kick @$$ walk through for doing it. The Unlockr
Basically you download This file
and
extract the folder from with in the .zip
then you store that folder on the root of the SD card
Download "terminal emulator" from the market
then from within the Term. Emul
$ su
# cd/sdcard/root
# sh root.sh
Click to collapse
And it will push/edit the files needed for "s=off" on your phone
after you've done that boot into BootLoader (how down the volume down button and power button when you turn on the device) make sure at the top it says s=off.
after you do that Flash the Clockwork ROM Recovery Image.
Instructions worked great.
Except now I have flashed iced glacier on - and every time I try to use the internet, the page fully loads then immediately closes and returns to home screen. Mini Opera works fine though.. ?

I am trying to root my Evo 4G and seem to bee running into a brick wall. When I plug in my phone it asks to install the drivers. I have tried automatically finding and installing them as well as downloading the Andriod SDK and manually updating the drivers. Either way I recieve a message "cannot find the appropriate files."
Any suggestions?
HTC Sync has the drivers you need.

Current Device: HTC EVO 4G LTE | ROM: toasted-deck CM10 | Kernel: Stock
But unrevoked says not to have that installed

Then did you install the drivers from the unrevoked site?

You have to install HTC Sync, which will install the drivers, then uninstall it, which will just uninstall the program
okay. installed and then uninstalled the HTC Sync so the drivers are still there and unrevoked recognize my phone and started running the root. Now I'm stuck with "error: failed to get root. Is your firmware to new?"

Hello,
I have a desire HD (radio:Asia pacific-India)
I temp rooted and installed clockwork recovery. Now i want to update to blackout ICS 4.04
I followed the instructions on the web. I disabled windows defender, firewall, antivirus and not able to downgrade the firmware
i am getting some error. Each reboot goes to clockwork recovery to reboot the phone.
Any help is appreciated
Hm, if I remember right, aahk dealt with the recovery and everything as part of the downgrade, you installed clockword before using aahk? I'm no expert but don't know if that is part of the reason. what is the error you get when trying to downgrade?
EDIT: also, are you using vista or windows 7? If you are, maybe try running aahk as administrator?

if you are already root why is that u want to run the Hack Kit for? are you s-off? gives me an error is widely general...be specific. Besides, there's an IRC Support channel for the Hack Kit, you should use it.
If you have clockworkmod put the Rom zip on your sdcard using your pc and try to flash it from recovery. It will probably work and the Rom you flash will be already rooted. If it doesn't work post again but try to be more specific.

Will try right now. I need to install adb first right? Thank you

just tried your method and said that it was a read only file system after chmod 06755 /system/bin/su i was able to move the su from sd card to system/bin but when it comes to that step its read only
Try updating binaries in super user before you go crazy.

just checked that and did not worked so started from scratch and removed su from system and sdcard now when typing su at adb shell screen it says system/sh :su not found. confused on what to do now

Sorry I didn't provide some warnings and things to try to verify some of the steps. When I was figuring it out I knew I had one shot so I did it in another system folder first to confirm.
Glad to help others not have to spend the time restoring though
Thanks for the help. Still struggling with rsd because my stupid computer froze while installing fast boot drivers so now my computer thinks i have them installed so it doesn't try to download them again but rsd fails due to lack of the drivers. Looking for those ap fast boot drivers and its hard doing that for phone as new as ours

Hi,
Can you unroot the nexus7 without using a PC via TWRP or something and then load OEM stock image?
Because I can't connect to my PC via USB.
IF you are already on stock with the ability to accept an OTA, then possibly. To unroot, just delete superuser.apk from /system/app and su from /system/xbin. Although you would somehow need to get back to the stock recovery, perhaps you can find it in flashable form somewhere.

If you have supersu installed it has an option for full unroot

Doesn't lock the bootloader

This would only remove superSU (from /sys) and wouldn't do anything else such as lock the bootloader

It removes supersu and the superuser binaries, aka root.
Besides you only asked for a unroot not a bootloader re-lock. Which is impossible without fastboot or a prior locked state back up of it pal. :/
