the benifit of videocalling is not to see your face only ,you may need to show some one a thing when shopping or doing any thing before doing it ,video conference is only one benfit of it
dual post .................
There is very little point in video call without seeing the other persons face.
I understand where your coming from with needing to show someone something.
But I've never ever needed to show someone something that badly..
It would be nice, but we'd never use it.

I agree, plus, if the other person can video call (Which is also expensive), they likely have a phone that will accept a picture message or a video message that our HD2's can send (And with good quality results too, better quality that front facing cameras too).
Without a front facing camera I can't see the point either.
Basically there is so little demand that unless HTC were getting hammered with requests I doubt they'd do something about it.

to show someone something i can put the call on hold, take a picture -> send it via mail/mms, and then carry on talking. hence, no need for video calling
ON MY REGION IT IS VERY CHEAP TO MAKE VIDEOCALL THAN SENDING MMS videocall is as expensive as normal call on my country ,so better for me to havevideo call

I wasnot shouting i , forgot to close the cabs lock
Here is how to do it:
- install "HTC Dialer disabler (MS Dialer enabler).cab"
- soft reset
- install "Rhodium dialer.cab"
- soft reset
Now you should have the video call option in your dialer.
Here in Macedonia we have cheap video calls and indeed it's cheaper than sending mms. As I work in one of the mobile operators I get unlimited video calls for free. So I really miss it

I got mine on a contract for free... I've seen as new quantums with a start bid of $199 on ebay pass in without a single bid...
ok many thanks really!! i love this phone... =) another little question: if you check for lg quantum on ebay you'll see that the phones locked to at&t are cheaper than the ones unlocked...so i wonder: if i buy a locked one (used) can i unlock it when arrives in italy? because i can't remember right where exactly, but i read that if i call at&t and explain them that i am an italian guest and give them the imei code, they'd give me the unlock code...is that right?
Dear all,
I know there are already many threads asking about if Atrix 4G is capable of two-way call recording, and in short the answer is no due to some firmware issue.
Well, I just flashed the official firmware by Motorola for Atrix 4G model sold in China into my AT&T model, and two-way call recording turns out to be one of the functions by default.
This is not a cooked rom, though there are some cooked roms based on this official rom that also have the same function.
I just want to let you know that ATRIX 4G can do call recording beautifully, without any compromise, even for my AT&T model.
Please kindly not to start the legal debate (or even worse) again, as I just want to share this piece of information with you, and I fully respect your view on the moral and legal implications of call recording.
I missed Dark Force and CM7, but I just need call recording fuction so badly that I have to use this official, bloated room by Motorola. Hopefully one day we can find call recording function in those wonderful cooked roms.
Interesting. Where did you find this "official" firmware?
Edit: never mind, I found it. Thanks for the info!
Good find! It would be awesome to see this functionality in other ROMs.

The link I found is full of chinese, I'm not sure the link will be useful for you guys, but here it is anyway: ligux.com/t-61-1-1.html
But the equivalent instructions and download sites in English is found right here in XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15020775&postcount=2
Also the Fruit Cakes is the safer approach (search for hktw): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I would suggest you go look at the XDA post.
I haven't flashed and tested it personally yet, so please don't take my word for it.
I'd love to see this in future ROM implementations...
I wonder what's the cook's POV on this issue though...

Okay got it. I hesitated to post it at that time because people can always use "search". Nonetheless, thanks for pointing it out.
Sound recorder + speaker phone works pretty good too.
The downside to that though is.... obvious.

well, i know you didn't want to start a legal debate... and i'm not really trying to either, but the legality of it IS probably the reason why this might not make it into any custom ROM's.

Unfortunately I'm too new to post an external link here.
I'll PM you instead.
And unfortunately again this is a PRC forum so you probably don't know understand the Chinese contents, thus unable to register and download the file.
How may I help so you can get the apk/file you need to port this feature to other versions of roms?

I'm not a legal expert to make a comment on this, so if any senior member is interested in porting this feature please let me know how can I help.
I registered XDA user account to post this finding because I thought it could be useful to some Atrix users.
I bought my Atrix in the U.S. but I live in Taiwan.
The Atrix sold in Taiwan has no voice recording capability either.
Yet the Samsung Galaxy S2 and many other phones sold here does have such feature by default.
So I assume it is sometimes a decision made by the manufacturer, at least in some countries other than the U.S.
NO in the usa it is totally illegal to record a phone conversatio without the express written concent of all partys involved thus creating a lyability for people who create such software and or implement it
however personally i think it would be usefull evidence against vindictive ex wifes

Thanks for your input, and hopefully it concludes the legal side discussion in this thread.
Once again I'm totally fine with how it is in the U.S., and I assume there are Atrix users like me who live outside the U.S. as well.
There's a few apps that work fine on my SGS and not my Atrix. One of them is ANY program that allows you to listen to music with a single (mono) Bluetooth earpiece. That for instance is not an issue on my regular SGS.
Besides call recording, (and bluetooth music) I often wonder if the phone is purposely locking it out, or just bad programming on the STOCK ROM itself?...

Can you guide me, how you were able to do this, are you able to tether in the Chinese version.
Just got a Note 3 and rooted it. I want to put a ROM with call recording built into the phone dialer. Are there any for the Note 3?
Anything else we can spoon feed you with ?

LOL.
You can just give a look in original android development section. There are a lot of ROMs where call recording is built in. Alternatively ACR works well too! Don't know about dialler, but it records calls automatically.
