Original dev and dev forums - Galaxy Note II General

What's the difference?
Samsung Epic - Tapatalk 2

devs forum is made for improving samsung firmwares mostly, whereas original devs are for kernels, aosp roms and etc.

Thanks a lot. That really does make sense.

Roms

Hello everyone Im looking to see if anyone has any suggestions on where to find a collections of the most and best roms out there for the INC. Thanks for the suggestions
This may seem simple but...
incredibleroms.com
I know there are so many out right now, it is difficult to index them.

Incredibleroms.com is a good source for some of the first ROMs created (Most of these are 2.1), however, if you want Froyo, the best place to go is our lovely XDA forum. There are several threads in the Development section dedicated to the different ROMs with updates, known bugs, so on and so forth. The two main Froyo ROMs are currently Cyanogenmod 6 (which is still pretty rough) and Sky Raider (Which has Sense). Read the whole thread before you install any of the ROMs so that you know what you're getting yourself into and happy flashing!

A word from the Devs!

Having owned the International GS3 i9300 and expecting so much from a phone with such powerful and capable hardware, it was a shame to see all the major devs abandoning it because of crapsung's stubbornness with giving out Exynos and other hardware sources. Since its safe to say almost everyone buys the Nexus for dev support, it would be good to see some devs voicing their opinion about how easy it would be to, say port CM10 (or 10.1) to it. How 'open' is the hardware on the Nexus 4? With all the recent 'less than stellar' reviews about the phone (I already know the reviewers had pre-release firmwares), it would be good to know if custom kernels and such can bring out the full potential of the beast that is S4 Pro.
I am a complete n00b, so apologies if this is inappropriate in any way.

Wrong section you should post in the question/answers section.
Anyway to answer your question Qualcomm is pretty much open with their processors and I don't believe there would be any problems building kernels and porting roms.
This is going to be locked / moved.
Nexus devices get CM10 very fast as you only need too add Cyanogenmod source merges and compile it to the Nexus 4 AOSP source and its good to go.
'In retrospect, I think this belongs to the general section! Derp! Can someone move it there?'
This was going to be my next post

It could of gone in either but I think it best suits the q&a section because you are specifically asking a question and you want an answer in return.
Wrong section, ib4tl
Edit: Also, just to put in something useful, this phone WILL be improved, if there are ANY software issues. This is the phone that will have the most dev support in years, with it's low price. In addition, CM isn't "ported", per say, it is built from source.

I asked a mod to move it.

Since its a nexus device, the source tree is already in aosp so custom ROMs like cm10, aokp, etc will appear almost instantly. No need to do any major hacks get stuff fully working like other phones.. Same with kernels, the source will be available immediately, so there's no waiting for the new kernel sources (*COUGH COUGH * HTC)

I think molesarecoming is planning to bring ParanoidAndroid over to the Nexus 4

SII HD LTE i757m development

Hi all,
I am addressing this message in regards of SII HD LTE i757m development. I know there are very few number of people who have this phone in this community and the developers for it as well. I think the reason why is because it is not popular and others are not aware of it because of that reason. I encourage those who have this device and are interested in rom development to work together. I have noted there are at least three known developers, Strange Peer, titanic_fanatic, and dsixda who have contributed to the various roms done and in work. I would be happily to work to further support this device in future rom and the ones available. I am currently working on a website which will host all sorts of information just about this phone. It will make it easier for i757m owners to find roms and support for their phones. Anyone else interested in this project please do message me.
Look out for more information very soon. - affans
Its been over 2 months. Any progress?

From the Moderator
To all, these kind of threads are not allowed..... the allure of "just wait and see....soon X is going to happen" serves no real purpose except ...maybe to market someone or something's agenda...... inflate desire or ego. None of these kinds of actions improve a community based based site such as XDA.
Additionally, Trying to promote others to offsite website is looked dimly upon in XDA. It is not the most respectful thing to do.
So .......This...... THREAD IS CLOSED.

Have fun in the s5 XDA thread. It's a pretty active device with plenty of support
I followed the same way.
S5 is a fantastic device for the hardware part. But Samsung and his fu**ing closed source software make it very difficult to hack. Don't expect find a large choice of Cm, slim or aosp ROMS. Most of them had lack of functionnality or severe regressions.
I now have a fully open sourced Vodafone smart ultra 6 but there's a no community behind... We don't have any rom. If someone wants to help us just pm me I missed my old s2
