Asus Q200E problems - Windows 8 General

Well I have a windows laptop here, came with windows 8 and booted just fine. Transferring some files over, and boom, it died. Now it only boots to the black screen with diagnose problems and tries to repair disk errors, but that doesn't work. Tried the F9 menu and reset the PC, the other options just freeze when I click them, the reset seems to do something, but stops after a bit (hard drive light constant on, then nothing). Tried to get a USB/CD drive to work, but it won't allow me to select them since win8 fastboot has taken over the bios, so it doesn't even show the USB/CD drive connected. Any recommendations?
edit: holy crap this laptop is annoying as hell. There is nothing I can do to repair it basically. I dont want to take the hard drive out since it was bought sunday (fixing for coworker). Might as well return it and get a new one. Why did windows 8 make it super difficult to fix things.

HD not recognised on any PC

Hi Guys, hopefully someone can help me here it is driving me crazy - well, here is my issue.
Doesnt matter what PC I plug my HD into it doesnt get picked up, i looked in device manager and still nothing. Its like its not connected, but it shows on the phone that it is charging. And does charge.
Can someone please help?
Thanks!
Settings - Connection - USB to PC - uncheck 'enable advanced network functionality'
All that was there is ' Enable faster data synchronization '
No advanced network functionality. Im on Telstra NextG Network Australia with there crappy stock rom if that helps.
I'm looking at a stock Touch HD and you're right- they changed the name of the box. So uncheck 'enable faster data synchronization'.
I did but it is still not working.
I have also done a hard reset and restore to manufacturers default and still not working.
What kind of PC are you using? Is it XP? If so you need to download ActiveSync.
Using XP.. I have downloaded and installed Activesync. It used to be picked up on every pc and suddenly now it doesnt.
Opened Activesync ports in your firewall settings?
Yeah its all fine, its as though the PC doesnt even recognise it. Doesnt show up in Disk Management.
hi lucky
you're already the 3rd one with this problem.
if you plug-in the usb connector, is there a dialog popping up on your hd which let's you choose between synch or hd mode?
if not, welcome to the group of disapointed htc owners.
there is already a thread somewhere about this problem. i have exactly the same, but no one could help me until now.
at least i found a way to flash a rom. the usb connection was working for about 20 minutes. afterwards it broke down again...
try the following:
1. shut down hd
2. remove SD and Sim Card
3. plug in the usb cable
4. do a hard reset by holding vol up and vol down while you press the power button
5. confirm the hardware reset
6. when the hd is booting up again, it will do some kind of customization process. during this process active sync should come up on your pc. cancel the device setup in acive sync and wait until your hd is completely configured.
7. afterwards reconnect the usb cable and active sync should work for a while...
let me know if it helped. i'm still searching for a permanent solution for this problem...
Nope, didnt work at all.
Not even the choice to decide what I want to do pops up on the phone.
Do you think it could be a hardware fault?
I think it is a hardware fault because i did a SPL boot and instead of 'USB' showing in the white box "Serial" did.
It just seems wierd because it was working fine for 2 weeks and then it all the sudden stopped and I did no ROM flashing or anything.
Should I try reflashing my device through the SD card and see how I go from there?
did you try a different cable???
I have about 20 different USB -> mini USB and only about 2/3 of them work with phones !!!
Yeah ive tried all different cables, ive tried ones that work with my diamond but still dosent work with my hd.

Are you getting anything popping up in device manager when you plug it in, in other words does the list refresh like it has detected a new hardware device or is it completely silent? I have seen it a couple of times where a device gets stuck as being recognized as something else. If the list does scroll (responds to the HD being plugged in) do a screen shot of everything in DM then plug the HD in and compare the lists to see if it is showing up as something else. If so, delete the device then unplug and plug in the HD again and have it reinstall the driver.
Good luck,
Gordo
I did what you said Gordo, and it doesnt show up inDevice Manager. Its as though its not even plugged in but for some reason it still recharges off the USB.
I guess about the only other thing I can think of is to plug it in on another PC and see if that computer tries to load a driver. If it does then it is something strange with your computer. If it doesn't then there is something bad with the USB port on the HD (maybe).
Gordo
Yeah I tried that but still nothing, im sending it back to Telstra, since its within 14 days of me getting it I get a whole brand new one!
thanks for your help guys

Evo prevents windows 7 laptop from booting.

I'm not sure why, but whenever I have my evo plugged into my laptop to charge and I attempt to reboot or turn on my computer it doesn't get passed the very first load up screen, doesn't even make it to windows boot up screen. It's a cheap windows 7 emachines laptop, but I doubt that has anything to do with it...
the second I unplug my phone, the computer boots up normally.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think its your computer's bios. I know a lot of people's computers won't start if they have their iPod plugged in. Try making sure that your computer is set to boot from hard disk first, cd drive second and flash drive third. That should work, or there could be a deeper problem. Basically, it isn't the Evo, its the computer.
I had an MSI board that would do this when my iphone2g was plugged in.

This. I can never boot with my iPod plugged in, but it's no big deal.

it is a settign in your BIOS, to disabel it disabel "Boot from USB" or just make sure your OS Hard drive is first in the boot order in BIOS. some people have this issue when a CD/DVD is in there system, and thats how to fix it, your PC looks on your usb for the OS.
I have the same thing on my Toshiba it is not set to boot from USB, HDD is first and it still hangs at the BIOS screen. Not a big deal, I'm just saying it does it.
Yeah, I got the same issue with my evo last night, except on windows vista. But it doesn't matter, its just the bois in the motherboard trying to connect to it as a hard drive. I wonder if you could use your evo as a bootable device for linux or even windows, using it as a live cd to boot a operating system and use the ram to boot up, rather than installing it on the hard drive.
That would be pretty cool. Eh?

I had this same problem with an external hard drive. In your BIOS, you may need to disable Legacy USB support.
The computer is looking for files too boot with on the drive. You have to either turn off USB drive booting or set it after the hard drive in the boot order.
I had this happen once when my Vogue was plugged in and it freaked me out. I don't remember why I unplugged the Vogue but as soon as I did it booted the rest of the way. I was so glad when I realized that it must have been because the phone was plugged in.

[Q] Series of events leading up to A200 Stuck on Iconia Tab loading screen

So, my mother set a password to her tablet, forgot what it was, and fixing it fell to me.
I looked up how to do a hard reset, with the power and volume button, and the lock switch, and initially it did not work. I tried it again, and what resulted was a picture of the Android icon with a back panel open and his gears showing. I left it there a moment thinking that might be a process of the hard reset, but after a while I figured it probably wasn't.
I turned off the tablet again. looked around for a better guide, and tried it again... It basically asked me to do the same thing but was more specific about it. I did the same thing... This time it seemed to work. An erasing data message appeared, but then in red I had another error that was something to the effect of, "Bootloader something or other, nope can't do it" in red.
Now when I try to boot at all, it's just stuck on ICONIA TAB loading screen.
Is it bricked or is there something I can do about it? I saw some threads about plugging it into a computer and copying over some files, but... they were all for the A500, and I don't want to mess it up further... So... Any have any ideas?
I would also add, plugging it into my Win7 desktop with a mini-USB to USB cable doesn't seem to register anything under the list of my drives. Soooo... unless anyone has some light to shed, I really can't imagine what I even COULD do... It won't boot. Computer doesn't recognize it. This is new territory to me, but I'm not technically incompetent.
There is no warranty so whatever has to be done can be tried.
Okay, maybe I'm not giving people time to respond, but maybe there's a way to boot from a flash drive? How would I set that up?
The problem is that I'm familiar with computers... not so much with android smart phones/tablets. Do they just design these things to become bricks, because it seems like we've had computers for a long time that you could open up a BIOS, boot from somewhere else, install an OS... fix the problem. Either there's a way to do that or I don't understand why people use these devices.

Shield Pro - APX Mode

Hi all,
I have the Shield Pro, running 5.1, and it won't start
It was working fine yesterday, but when I got home from work this evening, it was unresponsive. The power light was stuck on, but would not respond to any controller input or, as far as I can tell, any USB input.
I pulled the power out, and plugged it back in, and the light came on instantly. No display on the TV. I plugged it into my PC, but Windows doesn't see anything attached (I have tried multiple cables). If I hold the power button for five seconds, the device just turns off. If I touch the power button even just briefly, the green light comes back on. I can't get into Fastboot or anything. There is no HDMI output at all.
This is, naturally, really quite annoying.
However, after having it hooked up to my PC via USB for a while (not sure how long, sorry!), my computer bleeped like it does when a new USB device has been discovered, and bingo! I now have an "APX" device, with no drivers installed.
So. Who knows about APX mode for this thing?
I'm pretty sure APX is a low level recovery mode.. I recall reading that elsewhere.
go to the developers nvidia site amd search on how to reflash via apx
yeah, I had to use it on my old LG Optimus 2X, back in the day. There's nothing on the nVidia developer site about using it though

Apx mode ( and yes without drivers - couldn't even find around in Internet...) on pc ×device manager× shows me on my 500gb console when I removing internal shdd and connected with pc whiteout shdd (one day nothing to do and decide need open and have look what is inside in console...shdd, motherboard, cooler etc) . Another words sounds those symptoms very similar with my tests, but in my case that was mine experiments/investigations/discovery and your looks like you have some serious storage problem or kind of problem relaited with - can't read os or even bootloader which is on 500gb shdd or flash memory modul on 16gb.

after googling for a bit , i saw some references to the shield tablet, i think someone had an APX driver, maybe you could try that?
I could do, but APX mode is really, really dangerous. You need to know byte offsets and all that :S

if you know apx and you have all necessary stuff from Nvidia (which is not provided for public) you can replace internal drive or even ssd by installing bootloader, recovery, os etc straight on new drive from pc which is main factor why we can't swap them so easily, like 1 - 2tb drive or ssd - which would be fantastic ?. P.s. Something simular protection is for Xbox360 drives.

if that's the case you might have to send it for a warranty repair.. better not playing around if it's under warranty.
an idea for apx
move your shdd from shield and connect to pc then use this program(R-Studio 8.0) or other to restore date on u shdd I think it most work good luck

I have tab p7500 and have this problem apx only jtag help me in apx mode you should now wish sbl for tegra x1 and have nvflash for shield pro sorey for my English the easy way use jtag or tray to restore data in shdd
would there be a way to just dd- flash a new recovery withthe hdd removed from the unit? I am having te same no logo, no bootloader issue and am trying to either find apx drivers (non-existent) or a workaround. There has to be a way.....
i have the same question. My intrest is more in tinkering with the tegra x1 exploit in order to get a different root solution not contingent on nvidias closed source crap. I'm running a 2015 foster model and it is getting increasingly difficult to find tutorials on that system specifically with the newer updates. +i am interested in learning the process to exchange the hdd and mopy and manipulate the widevine keys that don't work on mine after the forced 7.2.3 update that occured with all update sofware removed from my system that also fried my controller with a botched firmware update that is blacklisted and not mentioned on the internet except people asking and all replies deleted. you know general unfettered access to the system without the bootloaders say so . All of this should now be possible now that the real hackers have gotten involved and decided they want to promote this exploit for homebrew it has caused several low level apx drivers to popup in corners ive found myself in from time to time if somebody will just get them to do it for the shield tv instead of the shield tab and the switch it is proven to work.

Dropped phone/screen dead - Any way to recover pictures?

Our son inherited my Axon 7 earlier this year, but dropped the phone. It doesn't even really look damaged... outside of a few hairline cracks. We know it boots up because he can connect his bluetooth headset and kick off a playlist, but you simply cannot see anything because the screen is dead.
I ended up just getting him a Moto G5 for a good price, but we'd like to recover any pictures he has on the phone. I've checked both of the google accounts he has setup through a web browser, but neither of them have any synced pictures.
Is there anything I can do to get these off the phone? I am 99.9% certain I enabled debugging mode, as well as unlocked the bootloader/rooted the phone, but without being able to enter in a pin at boot, I can't seem to get it to show up with an: adb devices.
I dropped my phone too a few months ago, the screen has one crack across the screen, screen went black too but still worked. You can try pressing hard on the screen, maybe the connector is loose when you dropped it. That's all I did apart from not using it for a few hours and screen is working again.
Did you have a PC or laptop to plug the phone into?
I'd use some data recovery software to retrieve the pics etc.

What kind if recovery software will let you unlock a phone from the PC? Like I mentioned above, I can't even get it to show up with adb devices
I use Easeus file recovery app, install it to your PC or laptop, then plug your phone into the PC or laptop.
Open Easeus and let it scan, next choose the drive that is your phone usually D:, E: or F: sometimes then tap raw recovery.
Let the app scan again till it stops then check the folders for the pics you wish to keep.
