Anyone know if i can install stock sense apps on AOSP ROMs? If so, has anyone got a link to the apk files. I'm particularly after the contacts app.
You can't get stock sense apps on asop, but you can get alternatives from the market. There are one or two decent t9 dailers in the market. Have a look at them and see how they are. Think one is called ex dailer, and it looks like the contacts app.
sense needs sense framework so not possible to be on aosop....

Has anyone installed the nexus one browser, contacts, calendar, and launcher on their tablet? Basically, I hate all of the Samsung Apps and want a plain froyo rom. I'm willing to install packages from my nexus one until I find the time to build one...

You should be able. I installed the calculator apk from my nexus one into my tab, cause the euro Rom didn't come with one installed, and it works without an issue.

I've been wondering the exact same thing (minus the launcher - I'm using adw since that's what comes in CM for my N1). Since it's barely been a week since purchase, I'm still a little afraid to start pulling apks over to try it out.
I tried, but I get a "replacing system package" warning, then the install fails. I tried this with my tab rooted and unroored

I think the nexus stock browser is a lot faster and more stable then the stock browser on the tab. I tried pushing over the browser.API from the nexus. But unfortunately everytime I start the browser it immediately closes. I just wanna try it out and see ignite any better.
Bump..

I am using ADW Launcher instead of Samsung Launcher and DialerOne for the dialer but I am missing the simple calculator that was on my CM 6 Nexus One.
Samsung apps are just ugly.
Not 100% sure, but some apps are dependent on the framework of the rom. You can't simply start swapping things out. Contacts and dialer are one of those things. A lot of applications rely on other things that's why they won't work. Once someone cooks up an AOSP rom for us then we can start tinkering in the world of Vanilla...
I'll gladly support someone porting over Cyanogen mod.
Youlu address book, miren browser, launcher pro, half way there already!
I have installed Calculator.apk from CyanogenMod 6.0, it works fine.
I tried to install Music.apk from CM 6.0 but it is blocked by crappy Samsung's MusicPlayer.apk. So I used TitaniumBackup to remove MusicPlayer. Then after reboot it still did not like it, because it seems Music.apk contains native code. So I tried Music.apk from beta CM 6.1 for Galaxy S and it installed just fine. Unfortunately it doesn't show music controls on the lockscreen so it must be a function of the lockscreen. So it is not better than Music Mod.
I would recommend everyone looking for vanilla music app to use Music Mod from the market.
Hello!
My thing is I love sense, but I prefer the AOSP battery life and that its so customizable.
But here are the stuff that sense has that keeps me trapped!
1. The contacts and calendars that link to Facebook, I can see the birthdays on calendar and on contacts I get to see their profile picture they have on Facebook.
2. The HTC_ime keyboard, its hard for me to find a good keyboard on AOSP because I can't add Spanish (mexico) language, and there are some I can add it but they don't have dictionaries (no autocorrect and spelling check, etc)
If someone can help me with this, is be grateful with him for life, and ill be always on AOSP :3
Thanks!

Your issues are easily solved with a few third party apps.
You can use FriendCaster to sync your contacts, etc. You can also use the official Facebook app, but FriendCaster also gives you a direct link to their profile inside contacts and it's better than the official app.
There are plenty of alternative keyboards available, as well as the HTC IME for AOSP. I use both Swype and SwiftKey X, and both have options for other languages and are better than the stock keyboard. If you search the Market I'm sure you'll find something that works for you. I have a modified version of the HTC IME somewhere. I'm not sure if it supports different languages like the stock one, but if I can find it I'll post it for you to try out.
Good luck!
Also, for birthdays in calendar, there are apps that will do this if FriendCaster doesn't. I synced mine a while ago before FriendCaster added syncing so I'm not sure if it will. Once your contacts' birthdays are synced to your calendar you can uninstall the app that synced them.

Does anyone know where I can get the notes widget for sense my 4.0 rom. It comes with notes preinstalled but lacks the widget. I really really want it and I have looked everywhere and I can't find it. I have tried taking the apk from other roms but it says application not installed when I try to install it.

From what I saw, Sense 4.0A's Notes is a wrapper of Evernote (shown in the Account section as Evernote for HTC Sense,) but apparently incomplete as it lags behind the official Evernote app in terms of features, one of them is the lack of widget (Evernote has a dedicated widget app in Google Play, but it works with the official app only.) Different ROMs' apks probably based on different versions of Notes, thus they will not work in your ROM.
either stocks weight ,i think your ROM is sense4a port one V.if you really want notes weight, you can flash sense 3.6

Hello All,
I just want to know if there is a solution to use few apps from sense to Samsung GN3.
For example , I want to have the messaging app , the Music apps and Phone app.
Is there a solution?
I Still have my HTC one
short answer no.
there are some launchers and apps that can simulate htc sense but nothing close to me. i love htc sense and wish it was possible but its not!
For those running AOSP, CM, AOKP based roms and so forth, anyone find the dialer app rather limited and aesthetically none too pleasing to look yet, lack of features etc.
Coming from a HTC phone, I loved their dialer and contacts app. However, the rom is naturally bloated with other junk that is not always needed.
Has anyone replaced their stock dialer with a third party app and found it a reliable solution? I assume it's a case of deleting the system dialer defaults, cache etc and forcing the phone to choose the third party app as the main dialer?
Or, can the third party dialer app be made a system app?
With the system dialer being so embedded, incoming call would still come through rom phone app and not the third party app?
On a similar level, what other system apps have folks replaced in favour of another app which you feel is better suited for your needs? All be it SMS, email apps etc.
Thanks.

I find the stock dialer fine. Other options I have tried is Go Contacts and Ex Dialer which are quite feature filled. I agree with you when you say that stock dialer doesn't look good which is why I use custom themes

This is Android - just install a new dialer, SMS program, launcher, whatever. The system will ask if you want it to be the default app, select "always" and you're done.
