Hi there!
Due to connection issues with my router, I had to upgrade my rooter NST to firmware 1.1.2 to have wifi working again. I'd like to root the device again, however, it seems that TouchNooter 2.1.31 is designed for firmware 1.1.
If I root the NST with this version of TouchNooter, is the device going back to firmware 1.1? Is there any root method for the latest firmware?

You'll be fine using TouchNooter for 1.1.2; I've tried it.The relevant library is libnetutils.so. TouchNooter does not replace the firmware wholesale with it's own version, and while I think the version number that is reported once you root a 1.1.2 device changes to 1.1.0, this is purely a cosmetic change.
Ok, I'll give it a try
It does work : Firmware 1.1.2 is still on after rooting.

Yesterday, vodafone (in Germany) asked me to update my android to a newer build. Since then I can no longer use tethering. I tried in on two computers with which it worked before, so I know its not the computer.
the new version is:
firmware version 2.1 update 1
build number:
1.25.162.1 CL229476 release-keys
Is there anything I can do? would a factory reset help me? Is there an app that I can load to get tethering back?
Thanks in advance!

You will have to re-root your phone. Updating the firmware removes root
Did i get this right?
Re-rooting my phone means doing a hard reset?
what does it mean "it removes root" I am more of a newbie than I thought.
thanks!
To get the wifi tether to work you must've first used unrevoked tool to root the phone to get superuser permission and then installed wifi tether. You need to use it again after the update to 're-root'. You do not need a hard reset

This error happen when I return original state after rooting.
I know there are some stories about blacklisting, but let me finish.
The first time that happen, I contact nook support, they tell me that the device is not blacklisted, and probably i have wifi issues. But my nook perfectly connect to my wifi, so I just install an update and the problem was resolved... but. After that I root and return the original state again, and this error was there again... (this happen just after you successfully set up wifi at first use, and before terms and conditions screen).
I deside to root it again from this state - no registered device, no registered user, just rooted (I know is out standard procedure). And rooting works great. I skip the registration (there is a procedure about that) and I had a perfect working rooted not registered nook. I deside to use the app for registration and successfully register it from there, but the issue now is - nook have a perfect wifi connection and working internet, but the nook reader report that there is a connection issue.
SO -
nook support was maybe right to tell me that the nook can't see Internet for some reason
I am right to thing that the Internet itself is perfectly OK
The problem is fixed when an update is applied, but there is no more updates .
The question is - is there anybody with the same problem?
Can I go to some older version like 1.2.0 or 1.1.2, and to repeat the official update procedure after that?
Is there any other ideas?
Thank you

How did you perform the restore procedure?
- use Method #2 to format all the partitions (other procedures only format /data/ partition)

- set your home wifi to WEP
- try again

Recently (3-1-14) I notice some of my apps crashing and that I could not get into Safestrap...then I notice I had a OTA update from ATT that unrooted my Phone...So I began to look for help and found that if you tried to use Kingo (latest version) to re-root your phone it did not work..You have to find an earlier version. For me (1.1.5) worked. Then after you get you root access back just re- install that programs that you may have trouble with and you should be back to normal...
I hope this helps...

All,
I need help re-rooting my phone. I had a stock recovery, rooter phone (to remove/ disable bloat). I received an update from TMobile (the version is still 4.4.2, but build is now KOT49I.D80120g. I could not stop it from applying the update and my phone lost root. I'm now unable to find a way to root it again. Towelroot does not work (your device is not supported) and ioroot says it does not work on 4.4.2.
Please help with what could I try.
Thanks a lot in advance.
wondering if you ever found the solution,. i am on that build as well.
even worse is i can't get into download mode to go back to an older version and install a custom recovery.
Hello all,
My phone downloaded but did not install the 4BQG1 security update via OTA. Since my phone was already rooted, I thought it would be best to revert back to stock firmware with Odin, which I did. I reverted back to firmware build QE1 without incident. Did not have any problems. However, when I tried to manually update the phone to latest security update, G930AUCU4BQG1, it says I have current software, which I obviously don't.
What should I do? Thanks in advance for your help.
