Hi everyone
I just got myself a transformer and really love it
i am running it with the latest revolver rom
Today I tried to map a network drive and everything was fine until I have a few video and music files with chinese file names. I am using cifs manager and es explorer. All the chinese characters show up as question marks "?" and it seems the system cannot understand the name (I cannot play the files nor renaming them on my tablet)
I tried googling a bit but failed to find a solution. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
Thanks very much in advance
p,s, found this link and tried adding "iocchaset=utf8" into the option line in cifsmanager but sadly it does not work
I believe you'll need a kernel a with utf-8 support and load it via the settings in CIFSmanager.

Guys,
I'm so angry , I just rooted the nook glowlight and am unable to install any apk files.
I'm always getting "there is a problem parsing the package", whatever I found on the internet :crying:
Is there no file explorer by default on it ? And why this parse error ?
And most websites just crash, grrr
Anyone, anyone please anyone : HELP MEEEE
Do you have ADB working? Can you see a logcat?
Do you know that these APKs are actually good and designed for API level 7?
Also, is installation of apps from unknown sources enabled in nook color tools? Most (all?) of the NST rooting packages include it, but you do have to set the flag to get packages found via the internet (rather than the google store) and copied to the device to install.
I get that error sometimes when downloading .apk files from some sites. Your browser might not be downloading the file with the correct filetype suffix. Can you see if it has the .apk suffix on it? I've found that some browsers do better than others with handling this file-type. If you can get xScope browser or Opera Mobile I think those were better. It's also possible that a retry of the download will work, or that the file itself is just bad.
I get the same error on my nook simple touch.
the same apk's work on my galaxy nexus.
Anyone knows what might be the problem and how to solve it?
A logcat will tell you exactly what the problem is.
Use ADB and get a logcat.

Are you sure these apks are compatible with Android 2.1 Eclair? Not everything will work. Which programs are you trying to install specifically?

I haven't thought of that. but you're probably right.
I'm surprised the error message is not more obvious though.

Wrong forum.
Try installing any other package with requirements : 2.1+
In Settings check "Allow Installation of Non-Market Apps" .
Install apk from SDCARD.
I'm 90% sure you are just trying to install a package not compatible with A 2.1.

I have a similar problem...
new to rooting and romming, finaly!!!! got my ms770 lg motion back to stock and I too am getting the error " there is a problem parsing the package".
I noticed that if I download an app, it installs fine, no problem...but when I transfer from my pc, it shows up with that error message when I try to install.
I have read a LOT of these forums , trying to determine how to solve this riddle...they all say try THIS file manager, or, make sure installation of non-market apps is checked, or some such thing...
Well, the "allow installation of non-market apps" thing IS checked...still no dice...
What do I do with the log once I get it?
Basically....can someone please point me in the right direction? Please?

This thread is almost a year old, therefore it is considered "dormant" or even "dead". Please refrain from posting in old threads.
Thanks.
I solved it.
In my phone These Error was occur twice a week. I found Best solution of "There is a problem parsing the package". For you I share this Link you can solve it by this link: youtu.be/njwRDPtfe_k :good:
I would post the picture here but i'm not allowed the error msg i get is
pkg:data/local/tmp/xxx.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_INSTALL_LOCATION]
it happens on like 50% of my kairosoft games the other 50% goes into same directory but installs sucessfully ....
I tried to install them via Nexus 7 toolkit and direct from internal sd card with file managers (The Nexus 7 Toolkit shows me atleast the error all file managers just tell me can't install) and this problem only happens with Custom Roms on Stock i can install them without any issues..
If anyone got a clue ....
Hi all
As the title says, i want to mount a networkpath to my nexus 10 for using "normal" musicplayer like Mort player to play the music stored in the network.
I searched a little around but only found solutions for JB. (Cifs and stuff)
I already tried myself to mount it with Mount manager from the playstore but always get a "failed to mount"
I am using an usb-stick on my Router (Asus RT-N56U). I have access to it with my fileexplorer.
Used ROM and kernel are shown in my signature.
Hopefully someone can give me a hint.
Greetings
Cua.
A little brainstorming:
An user in our german forum found out, that for the moment mounting seems only to work with thunderkat-kernel. But the folder is empty when trying to access. Maybe a problem with the correct rights.
Still in hope someone can help solving this problem.
Hey guys i have a problem, on crisscross v1.8 , puzzle and dragons works as it should but once I try to copy my accounts backup files 048.bin and 056.bin to the filesame folder off puzzle and dragons I keep getting "file creation failed" , but I don't have this problem on stock rom de-bloated with debloater, rooted w/ framework installed
What can the problem be ? And how can I slove it?
seems on custom roms puzzle and dragons don't allow file replace for some reason , it keep ending up in "file creation failed", know anything about this guys ? bcuz i like to use customs and not stock,
is there anyone that can help me figureing it out ? so we can report a fix to the devs ?
