Looking to see if anyone else has had this issue.
with 1.5, my phone always came out of sleep, right to the lockscreen, now that I've rooted, and have started using custom pretty much every popular ROM out there, with the last 3 or 4 I've flashed onto my phone, instead of going to the lock screen, it's just a blank screen, the phone will still sound alerts, but, the screen will remain blank no matter what I do, short of pulling the battery, and rebooting the phone...this doesn't happen every time, but ... it happens enough, that its irritating.
mabye I'm retarded, and theres answers somewhere on google, but, I can't find them ... help?
last roms i've used ...
official 2.1 42turkeys....<currently using>
ahero 1.0
villainrom 6.2
villainrom 6.0
villainrom 5.5 <-- i hate villarin rom apparently..lol....there great.
before this point, i dont remember it happening at all ... but, it could have ... just not 100% there where alot before that point aswell.
happens to me also, drives me crazy, if you find a solution please share
are u using an overclocking program? U maybe setting your phone in a profile too low if you are and as a result ur getting a black screen. Try increasing the minimum setting
Hasn't happened since I made this thread,i suggest making a thread, as it surely worked for me

Also, just using 2.1 by 42turkeys. No overclocking widget, just as it is

It's because your minimum clock speed is too low. Set it to 240MHz+
Automatically rebooting problem. Please help. Tried hard reset, but no luck. Don't know when it is happening.

How often is it rebooting?
Does it boot at all?
Can you reach desktop?
If not, have you flashed previously your rom?
Please supply more details.

Some times once in a day, and sometimes more than a week, basically it is rebooting when I am playing games for more than 10 minutes.
As a phone it is working fine. I am still not rooted.
Build version : FROYO.DDJP6
Firmware Version : 2.2
FYI - One more thing, I bought this mobile just 20 days back. Anyway thank you for quick reply.
Twenty days i would return under warranty for a fix ..

Exchange it, if you have not done any changes to rom, as this firmware has no such bug, probably its a hardware issue.
Is your cell get heat up while playing?

yes, sometimes it heats gets heat while playing.. I am going to shop now, to replace it.
This seems to be some sort of ROM bug. Just reflash to Gingerbread, and be fine.
You can use my howto for that, for example:

I found the issue with Advanced Task Killer. I am using Android Booster. Now it is working fine.
This has happened to me twice in 4 weeks on jvk. Talking on phone then it quickly boots up. Faster than a normal off then power on though.
Also.
Maybe why the screen goes to sleep during a call...
If you set screen off to say 10 mins, when on a call the screen stays active for duration of call except when held to ear, then screen off sensor kicks in and its working normal. Seems screen off setting also switches off phone screen at set time instead of staying active.

flash zach's antlion kernel or tk4-glitch kernel. the 'twoface' kernel might be the problem
Mine also rebooted, but it was on 2.1. The problem was that there was a bug in samsung's code. When I tdisabled the power saving mode under Settings > Display. The phone stopped rebooting.
I have 2.2.1 now and power saving mode is enabled without any problems.
Heelo.
I have noticed that sometimes (happened to me 3 times in 4 weeks now) while doing random things (most recentone was when i was looking at a picture on facebook and wanted to exit the picture), back and menu buttons under the screen don't respond. Home button works, touchscreen works, but menu and back key doesn't. In order to make it work I have to turn the screen on and back on so that they start working. I am using OMEGA 3.1 ROM and Faux 003 kernel.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Check if on stock rom it doesn't work either, or ask in the rom/kernel thread.

As I mentioned it happened 3 times in about 4 weeks now, so it's not a kind of thing that I could test with other roms, because it's very very rare. But I have also noticed that sometimes the same two buttons are less responsive than other times (like sometimes I can barelly press it with a tip of my index finger and it responds, but other times it does not respond when touched with point of finger, it only responds when I touch it with the pad of my finger - does it have something to do with electricity or softer skin on pads of fingers?).
Thank you
I've had this a few times in a bit over a week. Doesn't bother me as it's pretty rare and most likely a bug that will be fixed or possibly bugs in the apps themselves.
Good thing home button still works.

I also think it's a bug. Just had to ask as I didn't find anything with google
Thank you!!
I think he asked if you could test on a stock rom so you can see if its a hardware issue. Ive had mine for almost 4 weeks now and my back and menu button never failed to respond so far. Im on stock btw.
Same thing has happened to me a few times also.
I will be using an app or something, attempt to push the back button to get out of that app, and all of a sudden both the back button AND menu buttons die.... u press the area where they are located and nothing happens, no vibration, no light up, no nothing. The only way to fix it, is to restart the phone.
Only happens very rarely - and hard to guage when it might occur and repeat, due to its random nature.
Same thing happens to me. Also very rare, it's happened twice in 1 month

I also have it happen from time to time. Don't have to reboot tho, it will start working by itself after a while.

bump:
I have still this issue.
Having a i9505.
I am on Kitkat 4.4.2 C-Rom with Ktoonsez kernel.
Same thing with whatever kernel.
Not sure what it is really.
But it is annoying for sure.
So I just recently updated to Nut 's .136 firmware. Sadly the touch screen issue is still there. I have found a temporary solution though. For me, the problem is surely software based. When the touch screen gets buggy, a reboot will always fix it.
I have an app call Fast Reboot Pro installed, which restarts your system without actually restart your phone. I set the app to automatically do a "reboot" every time I unlock the screen. Whenever my screen starts acting buggy, I would just turn off the screen and unlock it.
This seems to fix the problem momentarily. I still hope someone can find a way to fix this for real though.

This was what I've done to my past Z1... But it's still annoying so I decided to sell it and waiting for Sirius or Z2.
This issue is exactly same as Xperia SP... But SP's issue is worse than Z1.

I use Fast Reboot Pro excluding almost all the apps..
I reboot system UI only
It's better to reboot locking the screen than unlocking (so you don't wait the reloading micro-time after you unlock)

May I ask what is wrong with the touchscreen on your phone? Although I dread to ask hehe.
The place I touched is not necessarily where the sensor "thinks" I touched. Or sometimes the screen just goes crazy without me touching anything.

My phone stops recognizing touches and restarts at same spot (thats why swype shows trail, but write scrumbled letters) I get really pisssed. I hope they fix it in 4.4 or I will never buy sony again. (looks like anyway only nexus devices or similar. Cause of all the "anti-modding" attitude of producers)
I update to stock .136 and I can't reproduce it anymore. The issue was there on .290 today, I updated and I don't know what to do to get it back, I miss my favorite problem.
BTW, I receive yesterday the phone and in Sony Center they couldn't find the problem and they scratched my phone everywhere, I tested typing *#*#7378423#*#* and it was there again, the worst service I ever had.

I will try some games like N.O.V.A 3 or H.A.W.X, both of them give me problems with .290, and I will report later.
i get the same problems. It happens during writing on keyboard and browsing on facebook app, imgur app ...
I already play N.O.V.A and some games and still not have the problem after update to .136. I also can put my phone on the bed and use it with one finger. I hope it will stay in this way forever.
i havent been able to reproduce it with .136 since i changed screen protector, no ASF, can't use bare screen because problem is maximized, happier than ever with this phone

You mean Anti-Shatter Film, Yes, I got the phone with that one and I put on it another one, so I got double screen protector and it's very responsive and working fine, at the moment.
Tried this app and so far it works as far as I know...
Btw Im on it for 2 days..

Hello Friends,,,I have Motorola Defy+ running CM11 24-08 build, actually from some days my phone is behaving very weird, when I wake up phone from sleep mode the screen is continuously flickering/blinking, it stops automatically after 3-4 mins of phone use, I mean screen is on for a while.
the biggest problem faced by phone is in the morning after waking up from long time sleep mode, in morning I cant even unlock the phone, black and white strips are appearing on screen but after 10-15 mins its working normally,,,does anyone faced this type of problem ???
I'm using CM11 from quarx too here on my defy. I've not experienced the issues described by you yet. That's why I fear this is a hardware issue.
You can roule this out by flashing the rom again while wiping data (make a backup first of cause ). If the issues persist then it is in all likelihood the phone's hardware which is defective (mainboard, or display cable for example). If a clean install fixes the issue then I would recommend using Titanium Backup to backup your apps and then restore them after a clean flash one at a time until you find the one which causes the behaviour.
Hope this helps.
Thanks @MP1_ bro I have tried everything,,, but problem still not solved yet,,, flashed SBF, stayed a whole day on SBF but screen flickering still there,,, I am not understanding these problem,,, if it's hardware related then why after using phone for a while it works normally,,, but waking up from sleep mode the screen flickering again continue for a some minutes
Sent from my MB526 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Such a behavior is not all that unusual for a hardware defect. When you got a defective soldering for example it can work like a charm when the phone is heating up due to usage (the material expands to close the cracks in the connectors). Unfortunately this does not really help you in locating/isolating the defective part of the phone.
@MP1_ bro then what's the solution ?
My phone is 3 n half year old,,, didn't even have any problem in these years,,, but I change USB wall chargers too many times,,, so does it affect battery? have Just a doubt on battery
Sent from my MB526 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'm afraid there won't be an easy solution Don't worry about the battery - changing chargers is no problem, I doubt the display flickering issue has an negative effect on battery life.
Ideally you would have a spare defy from which you could borrow parts in order to isolate the defective part in your phone. It could be the display illumination, the display itself, the display cable or some problem with the power supply on the mainboard of the phone. Apart from the dispay cable all of these parts aren't cheap.
Yes I have searched it on Google that original defy screen is of $33
But I am afraid to give my phone to service center,,,coz here in India they are not trustable,,, they will surly fool me
