I am using the Official T-Mobile Froyo 2.2.1 OTA Update.
Build Number: FRG83D
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-27237-gbe746fb
Note that the Kernel version is slightly different from the Official 2.2 Froyo OTA Update that was on Droid. (I think it was Droid... dunno.)
I was able to root my phone with that T-Mobile ROM using SuperOneClick 1.5.5 under Windows. I installed BusyBox using the APK in the Market.
Now I want to install OpenVPN. I have not been able to locate a download of the tun.ko or tap.ko modules for this kernel version.
- Can one of you crack developers post a link? All I really want is a binary.
- Barring an easy fix like that, can someone tell me how to find that exact, specific kernel tree? I am happy to try compiling it myself, but I don't know how to get the correct tree (so that the compiled .ko files will have matching kernel versions). Also, I don't know how to compile the kernel for Android. (If someone can point me to a HOWTO, plus the right kernel source, I will try it and upload the binaries if I am successful.)
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Really? Nobody?

I'm running a bounty for Audience chipset support in re-oriented kernels. I will personally paypal you $50 if you can provide a working GB I9000 reoriented kernel ( and instructions for the rest of the devs ) with working Audience support.
I will keep a list of any further donations here -- I am not responsible for any other donations other than my own.
I haven't done any Android kernel development other than browse the files from time to time. Coming from the linux/freebsd world from what I've seen this should be technically feasible:
The kernel ABI doesn't change much from 2.2 to 2.3 .. if at all:
Kernel:
Android 2.2 – Linux Kernel 2.6.32
Android 2.3 – Linux Kernel 2.6.35
One should be able to simply 'graft' audience enabled makefiles/src/objects/options etc into any kernel build from the captivate 2.2 release on Samsung's opensource site with minor edits.

I haven't personally looked into them, but I know Atinm had looked at it, and apparently there was quite a few changes involving audio stuff, including the audience chip drivers.
Not saying it can't be done, obviously, but I don't think its a simple copy/paste action either.
I'd throw in $10

Sorry for the dumb question.
But I want to ask you , because it's the only thread in X5 section.
Why the hell the CM 11 is so unstable in performance edition tha the rom ,,CyanogenMod 10 {Unofficial} v3.0'' . I am searching for the fastest rom for daily use ( my phone is in waranttly now ) . It's not possible to use spotify on our phone , or run facebook application without any kind of lag...
I thing the CM11 is more stable , but I think the reason for this is the only one , our phone is to weak for the updates now . Right?

Android 4.4 is optimized to work on low end devices but facebook and other applications are not. You will observe that android itself runs pretty smooth on our device, its just some apps which kill it.
IMO this is decent performance delivered by a phone 3 year old. You have to understand the limitations of 1GHZ single core processor and 512MB rom.

Cm11 gapps
Nice ROM ,runs smooth with banks minimal gapps ,incidentally I feel crysisltu's build has less noise in-call.

Problem with gapps
I tried both the standard as well as "small" gapps for CM 11 here.
All I got was hangouts, gmail, news & weather but no playstore or play services.
Can someone please provide links to working gapps?
Also, why don't the official gapps work?
P.S. - The rom is working brilliantly. Seems a bit on the battery-hungry side than CrysisLTU's rom, but is very stable. Nice call quality, bluetooth, wifi, storage, camera also work fine.

Your IMEI probably got wiped. Check if it's 0. If it is, follow this to recover the IMEI number: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591997
Will update new build today.
Changelog - synced with latest CM11 sources.
Uploaded. Link on OP.
I got new phone last week - Android One(Spice Dream Uno). Will still keep posting ROMs for U8800Pro. Please let me know if no one is interested , I will stop this thread.
If you could do a build with the new performance profiles in it would be great

Sorry I've just installed cm11 nightly for nexus 7 and that doesn't have performance profiles either, my xperia mini has it though, developed by mikieoannina, he must have included it as an extra.

Hello devs, I think before to split some developers for own project to regroup all ppl want and can working on this device to one place.
The only requeriment are working with apache v2 license (much better gnu because is required to post credits) or any derivate.
For a moment I create this on github, I send the invite to the best developer in this moment (nofearnohappy) and when him give time to reply to me to loki, everyone want partecipate it's free to write here, I'm happy to add to this group for share our knowedge
I love the opensource and I want to share and respect the current copyright for every works.
Thanks for attenction
Ivan said he already posted his sourcecodes on Android6.0 at github, I think you can make it much better, and also thanks for supporting heremes ,thank you very much.

I think you should first pay attention to a Chinese developer who work in Xiaomi, ivan19871002
here's his repo about Hermes : https://github.com/xiaomi-dev/android_device_xiaomi_hermes/tree/cm-12.1
You will notice branch is based on nofearnohappy's work, which is based on bule's.
and he was developed on any Xiaomi's device which use Qualcomm's SoC.
RN2 is his first trial, he only use a week to learn MTK and he already updated a most stable CM on github.
I think there's no body know this news(I'm from Taiwan, so I know all the latest information from China. If you wanna contract with Chinese developer like ivan and bule, you can ask me in PM. I have privately way to contact to nofearnohappy and bule )
By the way, ivan may keeps maintaining this device...
PS. Pay more attention to ivan's patch folder, you'll find all the solution in it.
I check the ivan repository but him fork the nofearnohappy repository only, no one changes...
Nice to know, if you can contact bule and ask him if wanna working on team is the best way

You have to switch to his branch which named "cm12.1" that is 22 commits ahead, but not "master" branch.
ivan and bule have team up already... but I'll ask him about this.

Hello Namaless,
I'm novice but I'm interesed in the integration of the ANT+ support currently in CM. If I can help you...
In this moment i follow the aicp ROM, this working fine for me, its useless have many projects without one complete.
When we have a source for aicp we can integrate
