Opensource HWC vs Blob vs no HWC Test Thread - Galaxy S II General

It's a bit hard to keep an overview of submitted user tests for the new opensource hardware composer entropy posted.
So I thought it would be nice to have a thread for it so that the devs don't have to search for test results and for posting new opensource hwc zips.
My testing so far:
Blobs:
fast
transition animations laggy
homescreen swiping stuttery
opening closing app drawer smooth
Opensource Hwc1:
app drawer opening/closing stuttery
Swiping in app drawer laggier than blobs.
Opensourc Hwc2:
opening/closing app drawer smooth but not as smooth as blob
Transition animations smoother than hwc1 and blob
Swiping through homescreens/app drawer as smooth as blobs.

Which one uses changmin in his OpenSource HWComposer builds from S3?

I like this idea....maybe inform entropy about this thread
So with open source HW composer 1 games lag(check out the videos) but with blobs HW composer they don't lag.
(There is image tearing in these screen cast videos where I actually had lags)
Edit : after testing opensource HW composer v2 the gaming results are more or less the same but I find the transtion animations smoother

It would be a good idea to attach the three files. This way, more people can give feedback since that saves them a lot of time from looking all over the forums.

Its hwcomposer.. In simple, the thingamajig that does the magic rendering and accelerate the UI thus giving a difference in the old way of rendering in ICS and the newer graphic acceleration method applied in JB

Open Source HWC 2 unfortunately breaks video playback at some resolutions. Netflix is broken trying to play back a hd stream (it works for a 1 min until it switches to a higher resolution, then the screen looks like it has a sync issue) ..
It looks like there is no great advantage to running the Open Source HWC in the latest builds.. but unfortunately it looks like the Mali builds are being built with the open source already added. I would wish that it could be left out so it does not affect video playback.
I woudl make this suggestion in the proper thread.. unfortuately I am still under the required post count to post in that section of the forum.. so perhaps someone could relay this request for me in that thread?

@Chris we shouldn't post in dev thread even when we have post count more than 10

No worries, I would not clutter up the official CM10 dev thread with this type of information. I was reffering to the UNOFFICIAL thread by mcm811 [ROM][JB][CM10][4.1.1] CM10 vsync patched experimetnal build .. He has been building unofficial builds and taking suggestions from people in that thread as to what items to include and remove. I felt it would be benificial to inform people in that thread as to one of the side effects of adding the open source HWC into his builds .

Note II HWComposer on S3

I tried using Note II N7100's hwcomposer lib file on my CM10.
It is smoother to me than CM10... Just my feeling... Not very sure...
Anyway don't know if its true. I just leave the Note 2's lib file attached below. Try it if you want.
Just copy the file using root explorer to system/lib/hw. When you tries to paste, the phone will just auto reboot. Wait a bit and it will be up again. Then for safety go back and change the permission to like other .so files in that folder.
Don't blame me if anything bad happens... I am not a developer. I am just a noob anyway :/
Works best on CM10 not Samsung rom for me.
I think this just forces it to run in software mode, as it wouldn't actually recognise it. Chances are that software mode is better than using the broken GPU method though.

Hmmm sorry I am not very sure of if broken hw acceleration. But to me at least the user experience is better for me and still able to have the other benefits (except project butter) of Jelly Bean.
It doesn't seem to break GPU rendering, I have force GPU and disable hw overlays ticked and everything is nice and smooth and no problems so far, running for about 30 mins or so.

To me I can really tell that its smoother especially when opening and closing the sms app no longer lags for me.
Could any dev confirm the effect of this?
EDIT:Used the file now and indeed it is better...I'm on Wanam LIB sammy official.
For example i think it fixed that "break" it used to do when scrolling up and down on settings!yay!
EDIT 2:When it works it works ok...but sometimes it doesn't work...
Anyway,back to stock!Thank's OP.
Hmmm best to have dev confirming this. I tried on I9300XXDLIB it ends up becoming even more lag.... But the effect on CM10 is an improvement to me.
Well working fine for now. Don't know if I feel any difference though.
Edit: Probably not a placebo... I feel more responsive scrolling in tapatalk and gmail app.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. We don't have the resources to keep churning out numerous polished ROMs for TB anymore. At the same time, some things are better on AOKP, and some are better on liquid. Just taking the path of least resistance and combining the best parts of both a ROMs would be very helpful to users here. Twisted, thank you!
Obviously any additional improvements are also greatly appreciated.

[Q] About ParanoidAndroid's Tablet UI

Hi, I'm using ParanoidAndroid's Latest build which is 2.99 beta 5 and running trinity kernel @1.4ghz when I choose tablet UI on ParanoidAndroid's settings, it goes to tablet UI but the app doesn't. For example is the youtube app which supposed to be look like a 3d'ish kind of look as it was in tablets but it's still look like a Phablet UI. Is it possible to gain True Tablet UI on this particular build? Thank you in advance! and Am I able to run Jays buttery goodness on this one? How? Thanks again!

The only thing is that some semc apps use a button reference in the SemcGenericUxpRes, with a white text color, so in apps like dialer text is sometimes hard to see in some buttons

gaming on GB is always good, ram depends on your kernel, 720p kernel on GB is recommended (or doomkernel)
i have usually 240mb ram in stock GB - never faced any problems in the heaviest games. ram and benchmark-numbers (especially antutu) is just numbers-porn.

Actually, I tought of implementing ADJ tweaks and adrenobooster v0.7 by default, since it's still a stock rom, not an AOSP rom like cm7
In other words, I've changed most of the png's in the framework-res.apk (hard work lol), systemui.apk, most of the app to match cdma's icons, and other changes that I don't remember, so I don't think it should be easily used as a base rom
