I was wondering if its possible to remap the camera button away from the track ball and to the volume rocker. This will make it easy to take those self portrait pictures with friends than guessing where the shutter button is on the screen.

I believe he means in terms of every single thing working properly, and the speed being up to par with say a stock Nexus One. I thought to myself that I would never switch from HTC Sense.. but the quickness of Cyanogen is just too nice to withdrawal from. Once we literally get the Desire on our phones (you know what I mean), I will go back.
Opening apps just feels so speedy on Cyanogen mod! I really just can't revert... As much as I want to...

As of today is it usable as a main ROM? Also can I install it on top of cm5.0.5.3 or is there some guide that tells us how to go from custom Rom to custom rom?

Agree, trackball is a stupid idea.
Well this is basically a pointless thread other than to say I've read about bugs people are experiencing and all the threads about it.
Well this is the no bug thread. I have zero issues and think this is the best stock rom I've tried (besides trackball wake) and honestly even better than every custom I've tried. This will only make the new custom roms better.
Anyways please don't post if ya have bugs. This is the I got not a single bug thread.
FROYO ROCKS, even this isn't the real final release ( even though I don't see final any different)..
Like yourself, I'm probably one of the lucky ones that has not had any issues with Froyo.
I can't really comment too much on reception, I've noticed that the bars tend of fluctuate a bit more now, but the overall signal seems to have gotten slightly stronger.
I conducted a full wipe before I installed Froyo, so maybe that's a contributing factor to our overall positive experience with Froyo opposed to those who may have simply installed Froyo over their previous ROM.
I also have no issues with froyo. I'm very pleased with it. I just hope I get an update to the official build since i'm not rooted.
none for me that I know of.
very, very complete wipe before install.
I'm extremely pleased with the wifi performance, it's very fast, connects no problem to my usual spots without the hassle. And the better sound on phone calls.
No bugs for me! I'm completely stock, coming from ERE27. I didn't even wipe.
I can easily say this is the fastest android I've ever experienced!
Yeah there may be bugs on some of you mugs... but there ain't no bugs on me. =)

Zero complaints here. It's solid and I am getting good battery life. If you want trackball wake, you can add the Market app "No lock". The display will sleep but will wake on any hardware button push - vol up/down/trackball. No unlock required.

Greetings,
The one thing I have seen a lot of people complain here is about the hard keys on our phone wearing out. This is one of the major issues and i face the same problem. On Windows Mobile I rarely use the Hard Keys but on Android they are really used a lot. So my question to all you talented developers out there is..Cant a ROM be made specially for our HD2 with a soft key panel built into the screen ? which is available all the time !!
I know there are some third party apps like Buttonsavior...etc...but its not something which is as flexible as the soft keys in other phones....I have attached a screenshot to express what I mean.
isn't that what tablet tweaks from cm7 attempts to do? haven't seen if they work, personally.

This is something that is a native feature of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. So check the ICS ROMs and see if the ROM developer has turned it off or left it as a option for the user to decide. Also I know this ROM has it as a option.
Yea, as stated above softkeys in themselves are/can be present in all the ics as standard as the feature ics nexus itself doesn't have any hardware buttons (that i recall).
When I first read your question I thought you were enquiring about if the soft button panel could be present regardless of the state i.e when screen is off, which isn't done. In terms of being able to totally disregard the hard buttons there are proximity sensor apps (as well as some sound apps) that can be utilised to wake the device from sleep, I've used proximity screen off which works well, although i can't report as to using it affects battery life.

I do not think you can do this with a Gingerbread ROM because the onscreen buttons are not part of Gingerbread. But if you want to you can always try it and see what you can come up with. Also it is several launchers for Gingerbread that will give you the onscreen buttons, but I do not think they work with all apps.

Okay, I'm creating this thread so that all users can post their experiences/bugs here because its annoying some of the devs when people post questions in the dev threads. So all you guys like me who need to ask questions or talk about this ROM please post here. I hope they will be kind enough here to answer everyones questions.
I flashed this ROM 3 days ago and I have to say im pretty goddamned impressed. A few words and questions.
First off, I love the stock look from 2.1. 6 Bars for signals, stock moto launcher. That has got to be the most important for me because everytime I flashed a froyo build the launcher would include just the app drawer and no dialer or message buttons like in stock 2.1. The haptic feedback is crisp and works in a few places. Like the dialer and 4 buttons below. The thing I love most about this ROM is is the built in moto LED notifications. I always missed that on the froyo builds and tried using apps like LEDme now and others but it just didnt cut it. The media button works. Its really fast and overclocked its a beauty. The only problem I found with the dialer was the number format and I dont know WHY that should be a problem for anyone. A cool thing I noticed with the dialer was you can block calls from inside the dialer. Love the stock appearance. Okay I dont know what issues you guys have with SMS. All I did was install keyboard for gingerbread longpressed the text input space and chose the input method. It replaced the stock keyboard and everything is fine. The SMS has nice solid black background compared to the grey in dexters and CB's which I assume saves battery. Also you have extra SMS options like pop ups. All apps work great and fast. Over clocked at 1000 mhz, 74 vsel it works as a charm. I use autokiller at moderate and never felt any lessening of RAM or slowing of the phone. About the APN settings yes I cant choose them but for some reason it picked up the settings itself and my data connection is active. I have an unlimited plan so its always on, for those who dont theres a power control app called switch pro you can turn off data along with another bunch of functions. Its basically an extended power control menu. It also has a nice UI. Camera works nicely and over all I just love the stock feel. I have had no signal problems its actually really good. WIFI signals are keeping well even though my router is far away and with froyo I used to get only 1 bar. Apps like Google+ work nicely.
Issues/Questions: I fastbooted into fjfalcons boot4.img. For some reason it became really slow and I had to reboot without it and now its fine. In set CPU half of my swap was active without even running any apps. I use 91 mb linux swap on my SD card like in reverends video from the old khal rom days. Besides that I want to ask about the super sleep mode button, what does it do? When do i activate it? How does it work? etc. By the way im using M7's patch with extended menu's. Umm besides that I tried installing root explorer but it already has its own korean RE, and I cant install root explorer on top because it says system app cant remove. Theres also another browser which in in korean but I just ignored that.
Besides that I have had no Issues with this ROM. Seems very solid and suitable for everyday use. I flashed directly from CB's froyo without reformatting my SD. All my apps were preserved and I had no issues booting this ROM up. I did loose the calvin bootloader img in the start which is now replaced by the official moto M and a sexy T logo after works. All in all I feel this is a keeper, after trying literally every ROM on this forum atleast 2 dozen times. Thats my review as a normal moderate user. I don't play many hardcore games and use my phone for calling, sms, browsing and photos.
Please post your opinions and experiences. And any bugs. Thanks!
How is it's speed compared to miui? does it beat miui?

It feels like an official update from moto
If the dialer and messaging were fixed (americanized), I bet cincy bell would backtrack and call this the official update, especially with a swype keyboard.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
Just curious, does swype really feels that great? Cos im using swiftkey and i feel that i type much better there :/
I'm not a huge fan of swype. My favorite keyboard actually is the stock gingerbread keyboard. I really fly with that one.
Swype is perfect for me when it understands my words correctly.

Yeah, well that's kind of the issue. Sometimes works well and types fast, other times it misses my words. Too many misses makes the gingerbread keyboard my default for speed and reliability.
But Swype also lets you type normally as well as swype to type.

I think the speed is comparable to miui, but its way more stable with very few reboots or any other problems. Could someone comment on the battery life? I'm getting a day with low use. I flashed from the CB Froyo does that make any difference if I don't flash 2.1 Korean first. Kernel issues?

Nice review! But how did you get LED-notifications to work? They don't work here w/o LEDmeknow.
Battery life here is somewhere between 2.1 stock and 2.2-ROMS on here.

It was in the display options. LED Notifications and periodic notifications just like in 2.1. After I selected them I got the flashing 4 bottom LED's which would stop after a few seconds and restart every 4-5 minutes.
My battery life for me sucked bad even after calibration, so I flashed stock 2.1 signapore sbf to see if that changes anything. I heard there are kernel issues if you dont go back to stock. Also memory leaks.

Lol, im sorry but I didn't understand whether you're happy or pissed off about this thread. Hopefully its the former, and thanks again for all the good work!
Just a small update. I was getting really crappy battery life, so I decided to flash the stock singapore SBF and then reflash WanHu's ROM. I took it right from scratch. Root with Universal android root which is so much easier than superoneclick. I tried superoneclick though and it didnt work, maybe because i was trying to do it under MONO in linux. After that I applied the Mioz Patch!
Okay here's where the weirdness starts. First all you guys must remember that annoying ugly korean keyboard and the weird gestures keyboard in the sms, well after the sbf flash my ROM has kept its old android 2.1 keyboard WITH the original haptic feedback. This wasnt there when I flashed directly from the CB froyo. Also Im getting haptic feedback on long touch in the homescreen along with the 4 LED buttons.
Hope this helps. Im going to do some more exploring!
EDIT: Okay so the keyboard is FC on me. It was fine when I was putting in my google info

Can you add some screenshots?
Just installed Quarx remarkable cm10 rom and am shocked at how stable and useable it is. However i have a few questions and so if you know the answers help me out please.
is there a better default launcher (basically i had cm7 set up with custom icons on the apps on the home screen and also was able to fit 5 or 6 apps across the width and am wondering is there anyway i can do this now in jelly bean)?
is there anyway i can get the app drawer to scroll down instead of sideways?
how the heck do i get rid of that annoying google search bar at the top of my home screen?
why is there no dsp audio settings for bluetooth? is this a bug or something that hasnt yet been implemeted?
EDIT: Oh yes and what has happened to the ability to long press the buttons like search that will launch a custom action?
and rather than start a new thread... just in case i decide to bail back to cm7 kang will i need to install the froyo kernal first in recovery? for info purposes i am using a red lense defy and the gingerbread kernal i flashed before installing cm10 is the first time i have ever flashed a kernal.

thanks for that will give it a bash
anybody else know the answers to the other stuff.
edit:
ok wow i have just installed apex launcher and i have to say it is gonna take a good evening of sorting out there are that many options. i like it. so cheers buddy.
however i am getting this horrible lag when using the phone. sometimes it is taking upwards of five seconds for the phone to acknowledge a touch. it is extremely frustrating especially coming from c7 kang when everything and i mean everything was virtually instant. not sure if this is sort of normal expected behaviour considering cm10 is only a few weeks old but if it carries on and despite the fact i love it i will be forced to return to cm7.
you can use nova launcher it is very beautiful.

I've tried both. The latest quarx rom and now i'm on epys lates rom.
I'm use the holo launcher hd - it's optimized for jb and works perfect.
In both roms is the dsp manager present. For bluetooth settings you have to scroll right.
The ability for the buttons can be found in epys last build. I didn't found them on quarxs 08/04 build.

in your experience would you say epys is more stable than quarx.
i think part of my problem is that i used titanium back up to install a fair few apps with there data and maybe if i hadnt i wouldnt be encountering so many slow downs and lag but i hasten to add that i was already seeing it on the rom before i restored the apps so i dont want to blame it totally.
by the way i have found the bluetooth settings so thanks mate. i simply opened the app and it was there so i aint sure how i missed them first time off!!!
no you are right quarx build doesnt have the buttons set up as yet.
i may do a wipe and start again and may even try epys build but epy seems to be busy with other things and i dont want to be using a rom that is no longer supported. if i do i will give holo launcher a bash although i am mighty impressed with apex. already i have been able to set up the homescreen as before and the app drawer is back to one long vertical scrolling list. so we are getting there.
what i dont seem to notice is any sort of hwa going on in fact my experience is the phone runs a lot choppier and slower than when i was using cm7.
another alternative is to go back to cm7 and use one of the ics themes which in all honesty doesnt seem like a bad option to me. i will decide over the weekend when i have some time to play around. thankfully thanks to the recovery it is pretty painles to switch between builds once you have set them up.

I'm running Epsylons 06.08 build and it worked
Jelly powered.Defy
ok i can only imagine i have screwed something up using titanium back up because the lag is actually making the phone unuseable. i simply havent had time to fix it but i will have tomrrow and the first thing i am gonna do is a full wipe. i think i am also going to try running both epys and quarx and also use both the froyo and gingerbread kernals and see which combination works best. i am also going to remove titanium back up. if it cant handle restoring user apps and the data between platforms then it is of no use to me because google will reinstall all the apps on its own.
so i must have simply screwed it up because nobody would use the rom if it was as bad as it is on my phone. i also dont like the no wifi tethering deal. that is something that is extremely handy and if it doesnt work then even if i can get cm10 running smooth as silk then i will most likely not use it as a daily. another bug bear is the lack of flash support. i use the iplayer a lot and the fact that one needs flash to use it means jelly bean may be a step too far. i guess i want to get it running properly because it annoys me when things dont work right and by my very nature i am forced to try to fix it (it is almost a genetic defect of mine). however as i say if i cant use wifi tethering and flash then i probably wont run it as the rom i use daily.
does anyone know if ics is the same? is wifi tethering also broke with cm9?

in CM10 u can use some tehter-app from PlayStore, someone in dev thread say it worked. CM9 is the same as CM10 for me with tethering, but I really don't use it more than twice in three month.
titanium backup is bad if u restore more than the apk on CM10 nightlys, it totally ruins the system if u came from other ROM, had the same issue. I use it for apps that not from PlayStore, it's ok for that.
Jelly powered.Defy
right installed the froyo kernal today with the latest 08/08/2012 nightly for the mb525 and i have to say there is a world of differnce. it is now running pretty damn silky and although it is lacking one or two things it is quite amazing for a build only 3-4 weeks in development. tomorrow (was super busy today) i am gonna give the ics builds a crack and also the gingerbread kernal cm10. i will then decide which one to keep.
obviously i didnt use titanium for squat diddly which i think helped.
i did try barnacle wifi tethering before and it didnt work but then again so many of my apps didnt work after the restore that it may have been that. i will give it another bash tomorrow.
really like the defy recovery app. not used this before and it makes managing roms and backups pretty sweet eh. have to say i am impressed with the level of development still going into this phone despite it being quite long in the tooth. i would have changed it months ago but there isnt anything out there built quite like it. if only moto would upgrade it make it slightly thinner, give us a better camera, a dual core snapdragon 1.5 cpu and a 4 inch screen but keep the same thin profile bezel and superb build quality and i would buy it tomorrow! i did for a week trade it for an atrix which at the time was the flagship but i sold it and bought another defy because the build quality was just totally second rate compared to the defy.
come on moto i can live with your locked bootloader and non existent support (assuming the same old same old lot of devs also came along for the ride). just give us a decent updated version sit back and watch the coin roll in.
ok i can confirm that barnacle does work and that is me sold on this rom and will now use it as my daily.
decided against trying ics because it isnt gonna get an official cm release for the defy (i dont think) and even if it does all the work is now taking place on cm10 so it doesnt make sense to drop down a release.
have to say i used the defy rom updater for the first time today. talk about being spoilt. man that app is just so damn good. i was able to back up my phone and update to the latest nightly and i didnt have to do anything in recovery... it even rebooted the phone for me!!! super stuff.

need a bit more info mate. what is the wifi problem? in general i have no wifi issues it connects to my network and reconnects when the phone is turned on and stays connected when i am using it. so i dont.
i have decided to stay with the side swipe for the app drawer instead of going back to one long list. it makes a refreshing change.
i have also been discovering that on many apps there is a side swipe to get quick access to the next bit. the classic mistakes i have made are with the dsp manager and es file explorer. i was touching the tabs at the top instead of just swiping the screen left and right. the more i try this the more i see many apps have implemented the same useability.
another real palm job is the alarm. i have for years been tapping the plus and minus sign to set the right hour and minutes in the alarm. recently i discovered that i could simply swipe it down or up. quite mad really that i have wasted so much time without realising it.
cm10 is now running well with next to no issues. what a difference a wipe and totally clean install make.
Removing Google Search Bar
You can remove the persistent google search bar by going to Settings>Launcher>Homescreen and deselecting the Search bar option.
Hello.
I've been testing JB during this week, and I would like to know a way to remove the config button from the notifications screen, because sometimes the clear all notifications button is not visible or accesible. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks :cyclops:
