Come on Micro$oft can afford to ring me like 6 times a week to tell me my computer has a virus. And even helped me get rid of it once I'd given him my credit card number and cvv as an identity check, so why not Samsung.

Are you trolling?
1) Microsoft and Samsung are completely different entities.
2) India will never receive the first Jellybean update.
3) We ALL know that Jellybean is coming.
4) If he did, indeed, receive a call from customer support, one legally valid response they can give him is that the update is coming soon (which we ALREADY know is coming). They can't tell you more than that because Samsung India DO NOT KNOW!

well it's based on what customer service told me and a few others
I sent them a mail few days back...They are still stuck with " Sir, Samsung galaxy i5801 is coming with android 2.1(eclair)"
I don't think they even know that the official froyo is out for our device...but i hope gingerbread is released for our phone

Per this article and other, similar articles, Samsung is reconsidering. Not T-Mobile. The difference is, Samsung may roll out ICS for Galaxy S on other carriers and not T-Mobile, just like GB. Hopefully Samsung will atleast throw us a bone via Kies some day.

In fact Sams have confirmed that Note 2 and S3 will get the 4.2 update but there is no schedule yet. And what i think?

Well. It's not a first time when Samsung promising an update and than delaying it for ages. In my pinion we can expect 4.2.2 to be relised after note 3 arrival. That why I'm a happy user of custom rom. Alliance Rom 3.1 is the best I've tried till now.:thumbup:

Android 4.2 is overrated in my opinion, there's nothing really major. If anything, Android 4.2 is known to be buggy and battery life is worse compared to 4.1 which is very stable. But it's great to be on the latest version of android....

It still isn't clear weather a completed version is in their labs for testing and approval OR Moto's version was submitted to them for them to add bloat, test, fix, test, add more bloat, test, etc. I think once Verizon puts out a soak with their junk on it, then we may be getting truly close.

Sounds more hardware than software related. I doubt they'd hold an event (or waste time at one) to announce a software update for phones released back in '12. They didn't for the newer, more relevant phones, and with no other company calling an event to announce "we've released KK for you on XYZ phone" it would come off as very pompous.
...am curious to see what their next model phone is though...
So possibly the firmware will be released before the new phone comes out?

I was thinking that they could announce the update with their new phone. With a big MAYBE. :fingers-crossed:
We all bought this classic phone for more than INR20000 and all we got was a minor android upgrade to 4.2 followed by a extremely good bnb2 update :/
On the contrary other manufactures like moto has already stated it will upgrade its 2012 series to kitkat.

i submitted the mail for upgrade
but i don't think that samsung will give me positive response
they completly work on samsung marketing (they launched a new device and has forget the old devices)

I received a call from some rahul(from samsung) telling me sir we are still awaiting the info from our technical dept whether the device will be able to run kitkat or not. He said me however there are for sure some firmware updates but was hesistant to say same thing about android upgrades

Yes! But I'm getting the exact same reply when I sent an email finding out if KitKat will be available for S DUOS 2. They said the exact same thing. Is it something to be trusted? Or do you think that it is some fixed reply they're sending to everyone?

It might be fixed reply...but still we can't say upto 1 month Usually 1 month is sufficient for testing the device compatibility..but still i have doubt we can not trust the email fully... And Good method of cross checking mails :good:

Guys even s3 will not get kitkat update. They are saying , a phone with 1gb ram cant handle kitkat with touchwiz . So I dont think we will getva update. These are all fixed email replys..

There's an unbelievable news,
Samsung has officially announced the successor of Galaxy Ace III named as galaxy Ace Style . This phone has 1.2Ghz dual core and 512mb of ram and most importantly it has Kitkat Touchwiz 4.4.2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't believe my eyes when I saw that but yeah it's real .
