During my fabulous times with SGS,I was so fond of some Froyo ROMs that whatever GB ROM or stock I tried,I would often go back to my favourite FROYO nandroid backup. The simplest way to avoid ODIN everytime was simply flash an appropriate kernel(froyo or gb)and then restore the backp, without any problem.
Just wanted to know if we can switch between ICS and JB backups merely though the CF kernel provided CWM without any bootloader issues.Any thoughts?

I had an I9000 also...great days back then!
Anyway back on topic, you can switch to every rom the bootloader doesn't affect anything anymore...
Roms kernels modems etc remain the same like I9000,simple as that!
you cant go back and forth between samsung jellybean rom and cm10 roms , yes , you cant. YOu will be having wifi issues if you do so. YOu have to flash back some smsung ics roms before flashing cm10 when coming from samsung jb rom
the great thing with the s3 is that recovery is a separate.img to the kernel, so the problems you experienced on the s1(I had one too) no longer exist in that respect

There was some weird promise about porting after new year. But nothing seems to have happened.
Problem is that there's not many devs owning the I9001.
So far, the Cranium and BroodROM are very reliable and good roms, its nice to have those too
Apart from that, YardE is working on a CM port if i'm correct o:
Found this on a chinees site:

and then ur device will display android 4.0.1!!
just fake
it's not that i am not happy with my phone and the latest cranium rom.
But it be very nice if we can run ics and it's ghraphic accelerated interface.
btw posted on the cranium site for the request of their custom rom.
In the hope they will port ics.

Just as the picture above shows, when flashing kernels made by devs, it says 1bad blocks encountered in the fastboot window, and when flashing finished and try to start up the phone, the phone just vibrate once and lose response. The screen even doesn't turn on.
I have unlocked the bootloader.
The only way to fix the phone after flashing a kernel is using the flashtool to flash a ftf file.
Do you guys know why this thing gonna happen?
you flashing kernel that arent compatible maybe?
from my ARC using I.See.Ass

Nope, I have flashed kernels made by Doomlord, Jasonstein, FXP, non of the worked.
you have broken nand
send phone to service for nand replacement (of board replacement)
dun know the non-unicode language will affect the DOS code or not , cause u using the chinese non-unicode .... need ask those pro to conform
I had the latest Indian kernal DDLB2 but since that cant be rooted i flashed the XKJ1 kernal.
Now i see that the phone is much slower, torch app does not have 3 levels of brightness, less battery life .
So can someone provide me with DDLB2 kernal? I dont mind loosing the root privileged also.
better update to DDLB2 ROM(with CWM) N just download Cf root kernel LB1 and flash it, it will keep root intact.
Hi,
I have already flashed the DDLB2 from your post, the name of the file is
N7000DDLB2---------2.3.6-------2012 February-------N7000ODDLA1-India
Hence i have the below config.

Can you please let me know how to upgrade the kernel only?
I think you have root. Flash cf-root lb2 kernel using CWM application.
If you don't have it download HC-KTool from the market and flash the kernel (zimage not zip).
Great work by dr.ketan. waiting for direct root for kernel ddlb2. thanks in advance, dr.ketan.
As you can probably tell, I am new here.
I joined to try and solve an issue with my galaxy s.
For the last few months my phone has been randomly resetting itself which is becoming more and more common. Sometime it happens every few minutes.
It also keeps freezing when i try to do anything. The internet is barely useable anymore as it just crashes.
If you need any information before you can help, please just ask.
Thanks to anyone that can suggest some fixes.
thginge Parlor
Tell about Your soft, kernel.
Do You use SetCPU (or other) to overclocking?
I don't have any overclocking software installed.
I am running android 2.2 and my kernal is: 2.6.32.9
It is rooted.
A rooted phone running 2.2?!
Blasphemy.... BLASPHEMY I say to you!
Just kidding, yet again wondering why wouldn't you try a custom rom based on 4.0.4? Maybe it will fix your problems, maybe it won't, but I strongly believe it's still worth a try.
Try the CM9 nightlies.
I have tried to run 4.0.4 earlier today and my phone just went nuts. Became very un-responsive.
I decided to load up Kies and it prompted me to update to gingerbread (2.3), so I did. Problem is solved. Running so smoothly now.
Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

I have that jump program and feel like getting the GS5. I got this GS4 about 6 or so months ago and if I remember correctly (which I don't) I used odin to root it.. Had it rooted for a couple months then decided to put a rom on which was Wicked 5.0 or something. About 2 months ago I put wicked 9.1 on.
I'm pretty sure I saved a recovery before even putting the first wicked rom on, but WTF is up with the way it saves the files, maybe someone can help with this image, but what is the oldest date of these recoveries ?

If I was to go back to just the stock recovery but still rooted, would a t-mobile rep know this? and if they did would it be a problem?
If I did get back to the stock recovery, could I unroot it? I remember buying a triangle app or something ,that reset the flash counter on this phone? does that ring any bells? lol
Thanks
Look at the system information on/in the phone. What does it say?
You can simply just Odin the NAE .tar if you're going to be bringing it back to Sprint. That'll wipe everything to stock.
DAMN IT!!!!!! Wrong thread! my bad
nvm, i found what i needed, lol
