I installed cleanrom and glazedjellybean v1.1.2...im a newbie..so if this is a dumb question please forgive me..i love the speed of the
roms but i'd like to have the bar at the bottom have the book icon, music icon and film icon...is there a way to add them so when i want to look at movies it goes directly to movie..or books ect....the rom's eliminate these but to me having them back would be alot of help...can they be added...if so how???
You just open the app drawer, long press on the app that you want to add to your home screen, then place it wherever you want.
im looking for the icons that come loaded on unrooted nexus factory set..

Maybe i was a little unclear...what im looking for isnt really apps...yes I've done that...I as hoping to find a way to get back the icons at the bottom
screen that comes with the nexus 7...like the little book icon that when tapped shows me the books i have or the film strip icon that shows me the movies including the transformer movie that came free with the unit and of course the earphones..that when tapped go into your music content...
those arent in the app's i have on the rooted custom roms ????

If I interpreted you correctly, they are apps that don't come with most custom roms
You can download them from the play store depending where you are, otherwise just find the .apk and install it that way
Google is your friend.

I apologize if this has been discussed, I really did search and only found one place where this was asked, but there was no answer. According to the Samsung 7.7 features page it says this "Mini Apps : Upgraded so you can choose and edit your own Mini Apps tray. You can easily access favorite features such as Calendar, Email, or PenMemo as a pop up over full screen applications. " So obviously my question is this. How is this done? Or is it even possible on my model? Thank you and again sorry of this has already been addressed.
If you look at the bottom bar on your Tab you will see an icon that looks like an upside down 'v'. Click on it and it will bring up your mini-apps tray. You can launch those mini apps over the app you are in.

I think you misunderstood my question. I know about the up/ down arrow and the mini apps. But it says that is is Upgraded so you can choose and edit your own Mini Apps tray. So Im trying to figure out how to change them if its possible on the wifi only 6810. Thanks

Im not totally sure which one I used, but it might have been the one in post 19. But that one will change the icons as well. Im not sure where you might get one that is stock. The same author of that thread "Ssaass" makes an app called "Wizzbar" that might help you. I may be able to make one for you. Upload your systemui.apk and Ill see what I can do.

Ok, didnt think I forgot about you did you? I think this is what your looking for. The edit function shows up when you press the mini apps button. Lower right corner, cant miss it. This is all stock icons with edit function built in. Hope this is what you wanted. I tested this on my rooted stock 6810. Let me know if it works.
PS: For anyone that might want to know how I did it. All I did was use the "layout" folder in the Res folder from the apk that has the edit function. Then rezipped, changed name and permissions, and put back into system/ app.
Awesome... Thanks for your time. I'll try it when i get home tonight. I'm thanking you now anyway...

Yes, it works, thanks... But what I didn't expect is that you can't add any app you want, it's just limited to some samsung "mini" apps which really su**s!
I wonder if there's a way around that...
Thanks again I really appreciate it anyway.

Yea. Thats why I dont even use it. I use "honeybar" and hide the bar in games, movies, etc.
I don't use Google Now at all. I'd love to get rid of it. Also, the grey Google search bars on the top of the home screen.
I just unboxed my new N4, and yes, I searched for threads to help with my issue.
I'd like to be able to remove the Google Now icon from the wheel when you long press the home button. I'd REALLY love to be able to add other apps to that wheel instead. Is that even possible?
I'd like to avoid ROMing the device, but will if I must.

Nova Launcher can remove the Google Search bars and a ROM like AOKP can alter the apps in the "wheel". I don't believe altering the wheel can be done without ROM'ing.

I feared as much... I really wanted to avoid ROMing, so I may just have to deal with it. I'll probably grab an aftermarket launcher though...
There's no reason to not move from Stock mate, lots of optimizations and lots of fixes and features out there Esp. with Halo around these days
You can just freeze google search and FC your launcher.
When it reopens the search bar will be gone.
To undo those steps just unfreeze google search and restart your launcher again.
I guess I'm going to ROM the phone... : \
There is another mod that I want badly, and apparently, ROMing is the only way. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41861795#post41861795

Welcome to the Nexus 4 world.
What's wrong with ROMs? They're great and add much appreciated features to AOSP. Paranoid android is amazing.
Thank you Enhanced
Carter, nothing is wrong with ROMs. Nothing at all. I just feel the N4 is amazing without one...
That being said, I'm currently downloading PA_Mako 3.56 (26May2013) and the newest GApps. I require more tweaks than the stock ROM will allow.

I can understand not needing a custom ROM on the N4 although I would love a Nexus 4 with Halo on it.
Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.neko.freewing.NoAssist

I'm a nurse and need seconds displayed on my watch for when I perform vitals. I know there are watch faces that display seconds, but they go away once the screen dims. Any third party watch faces that would fit the bill?

I haven't seen any. That'd be a massive drain on the battery; the watch would be constantly redrawing the display instead of sitting idle and updating only once a minute. I'm not sure you'd even get through a shift before it were to die...

Yeah true good point. Well maybe there's an app I can load that just gives me seconds for when I go into a patients room. I guess I could load like a timer or something too. Or maybe I'll just have to use a regular watch during my shifts. Thanks for the input.

I'm sure someone could whip up an accurate watchface app that stays alive while open. Not sure if one exists already. But it shouldn't be hard to do at all.

I'm learning that app but can't figure out the seconds part. Under clock draw interval, I figure that's where I need to be. I've tried sec always but seconds still don't pop up. Any ideas?

It's amazing how little people read.
i linked you to an app called "wear picture watch". Download and install that. Open it, it's a watch designer. Download the zip file from that guys page now open "wear picture watch" app. Goto the side menu scroll down you'll see "import/export" click on it. Now select the zip file and click "refresh" on top. There are other settings here on this app where you can adjust what shows up and what doesn't. One of those options can be tuned to have the seconds hand show up even when dimmed. Furthermore there is "update interval" which can be changed do the second hand moves even when dimmed.

Actually you originally linked me to a play google link first. Which did NOT work. Which is why I said url did not work. Than I did go to that G+ link. I originally didn't see the instructions within the posts on G+, so my bad. Maybe I was distracted by the nice designs. As for the "update interval" section, there is none. There is a "clock draw interval" but not a update interval. I only saw that under weather settings.
I got it working. It is in fact the "clock draw interval", not "update interval". Just had to change that to sec. always(wake lock). Now just need to figure out how to get some numbers in there displayed around the clock.

No worries, got it working exactly how I want it! So glad you pointed this out. So now I can just switch to this clock temporarily when I go in to see patients. I will post the file(assuming I can, and of course giving credit to where its due) that I used with the adjustments I made to allow seconds be displayed even while dim. So if future medical personal come along, they have a way to use their smart watch at work. thanks again.
Help getting a face
Hi
As an EMT this is exactly what I'm looking for! Downloaded wear picture watch app, but am having a hard time getting faces imported. Went to the G+ page and got the box link to download a face. It downloads a .face file. Question is where do I go from there. I do not see an import/export option in the app.
Thanks a lot
Hey again guys. I've been doing further research and I'm positive the console I want to buy next is a Mojo.
I plan to root it as soon as I get it, so the important question is: how do I make it so the navbar doesn't show up? Apparently its always present by default, making all apps even XBMC not actually fullscreen.
Hopefully someone can tell me that. Thanks!

That's were I've heard your name.. on the "The Retro League" podcast lol
I haven't heard those two in ages.. wow!
I should go get me some right now lol
Cool, ha.. to your questions.
I think there's app on the app store which remove the navbar in jellybean.. not 100%
I would think CM12 would have that as an option.. again not sure sorry.
MX player does hide it but games don't.. that I recall anyway.
:good:
I wonder if there's just a script that you can edit to fix this. I just want the damn thing to not take up screen space when it's not a touch screen device to begin with.

Try Auto Hide Soft Keys APP which worked fine for me on rooted jellybean. Kodi/XBMC on the Lollipop (CM12) ROM works without this app because of immersive mode which hides the navbar, so I would suggest when you get your MOJO to switch to that ROM.
I know this is probably a crazy noobish question, but is there any way to download game apks from the google play store directly to my imac? I'm pretty new to google play, and it keeps saying to sign in on the device. but thats just the thing, I don't have a mojo yet. I'm still trying to figure out if I will get one.
So what the heck? Can't I just download to my computer and then "sideload" later?

I'm not sure why you would need to sideload apks to the MOJO since it will be fully functional with google play after using the rooting method for jellybean. On CM12, missing apps can apparently be fooled into appearing in google play by changing the device to something else like an nvidia shield tablet using Market helper http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146216
But there is a way to download apks to the computer if you must: try this

I'm newish to android but I think you still need to use the navbar regardless of lack of touch...
At least with jellybean, cm12 feels better integrated to android but still need to get to the all apps menu button.
I think the issue is jellybean didn't let apps remove easily, were as cm12 does.
Hi All,
I'm just installed Malaysk rom and be very happy with the features.
Only the design is not mine. How can I change icons? Would nice to have stock icons back.
Thanks
Markus
Ok, I found out, I can change the themes, so I now found a design which fits.
Thanks.
I also think that the colors and quality are low res.
Look like pallid...
but how to change?
I changed launcher.. Using apex.. As didn't like the look of what was in there.. With the new back ground mine is starting to look how I like it.. Then icons come back to stock..which also I like.. I am not big on that boxed icon I have seen and the 3d look for a launcher is not really what I want..
Sounds good.
How can I get this or how can I install/change?
Can you give me your image or can you write a how to?

Check this post, its a video I made before I flashed the ROM and first installed the unit..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63050913
I prefer it as gives me a good clean look ( set it up again after the flash).
I like that it gives me the scroll on the right hand side as I am driving here in Australia.
Thus saves reaching over to start an app.
Also I am using quick pic to setup up the background screen as it doesn't crop any out and or pixelate the chosen background pic..
I played with changing to the tablet mode within settings but didn't like is as much.. So went back to stick settings..
Still a work in progress, will make another video in the coming days and upload it..

Thanks. I read this informations, but still unclear.
Did you flash Malaysk rom and then changed to Apex?
I flashed with Malaysk rom incl. Next. If I now (if possible) delete Next, do I get back stock icons?
If not, can I flash Malaysk rom w/o Next w/o loosing any apps and settings?
If I understand you correctly, just go to play store and download Apex and or any launcher you want to try...
Install it.. Then push the home key..
It will ask you if you want to use that launcher as default..
Yes or no..up to you..as you can always go into default programs and wipe it so next comes back up..
At this stage I have not wiped next launcher out of system apps (by using TB now that we are rooted).. But as I get more comfortable with Apex as my got launcher I will do it.. As I wiped a few others out to free some internal memory.. But wit the in mind see do get apps2sd which is good as I moved a lot of data to the new extended partition that we have got from using this Rom..
Stock icons will appear .. Don't fret it... Using another launcher is not going to wipe off any of your programs..
Flashing the ROM will lol..
So do a backup
Also note the trick of formating the internal partition on first boot..or you will Wonder where all your space has gone..
