Yep... true, but only discussions (and all from before the phone actually was released) but there is no definite answer in the 5 i've read so far.... Only assumptions.
Mine has a small lag. Hard to say how much, maybe 1-1.5 seconds. I also have an iPAQ 3970 with an external serial GPS receiver which doesnt have any perceivable lag at all, and the Xperia definitely has some lag, but I find it acceptable.
Gave my touch pro back during my 14-day "honeymoon" period as the gps lag was a real dealbreaker for me.
Changed it for the x1 as it was just released at the time and tt7 is much better. Touch pro had lag of 10-15secs when turning corners, x1 has no problems like this "out of the box".
gps lag
the gps lag is due to having A-GPS enabled, for some reason it causes the gps software to update slowly disable it and it runs extremely well, i have both the touch diamond running tomtom 7, and the experia running copilot flawlessly.

GPS comments for Blackstone

Peoples,
I have a Diamond and I often use the GPS, BUT I am always suffering from extended periods to find satellites, sometimes lag, etc etc
I do know how to get "around" some of these issues (on Diamond) by using GPS Test, HTC GPS tools, lighting candles, sacrificing chickens....but its a right pain
The question is put to all Blackstone users....do you suffer from these issues?!?!?
Looking forward to your responses!!
I didn't noticed any problem with GPS
i also use an Athena and the Fixe with blackstone is quicker
The HD is quicker than the diamond with initial GPS fix.
are most folk using TT7?

And I could take just between 2 to 11 seconds for fix in Athena. So HD even beats that?
On the Touch HD, the fix is quite fast, usually 10-15 seconds. Then in operation, there's sometimes a small lag, but no more than 1-2 seconds when driving above 100 Km/h -- which is perfectly understandable, since the GPS signal itself is refreshed every second.
GPS location
i am finding the initial GPS location, very quick, keep the quick gps updated.
however when using software like either tomtom 7 or igo 8, position actual and position GPS seem very different. And if at the wrong time, could be very costly re:speed camera's.
other than that, IGO8 blows the socks off tomtom7, just the voice comms alone, then we goto 3d maps and buildings too....
mindblowing, igo8 for the HD! works great

Does anyone know how to enhance GPS precision?

I'd really appreciate.
Regards,
Enhance its precision? I'm not sure about that. It seems pretty accurate for me.
If you want to speed up the fix time, you will want to run QuickGPS and download the data. I also go into options and tell it to update it automatically.
I wish I could get aGPS working on this phone. With my Fuze and the right radio, I could get a lock in less than 5 seconds outside. With the Treo Pro it takes 15-20+ sometimes.

Overall

what is your view on this phone overall.
will copilot 7 work on it?
does it seem fast?
wonder if it is worth it.
thanks.
After my Samsung Omnia the Mini is the best phone I ever had. Damn Samsung...
Copiliot is not the best Navi, but it's quiet good.
The HTC is mostly fast in response and syncing with thunderbird over Birdiesync works great.
It does all I want from a phone. Only Problem is the screen resolution, because a lot of apps do not work, or have problems.
Ingo
what do you mean?
because a lot of apps do not work, or have problems...
is there a list?
what is the point of having a phone on which a lot of apps do not work?
There are some lists in this forum.
And the point is, that you perhaps need a software, and it does not really work, or just uncomfortable. If you dont need any apps, there is no problem.
I don't know about copilot. It's not offered in the package of our region.
But one thing i can tell you is that, HD mini has a damn good GPS receiver. The most poweful i've seen so far. It locks on to the satellite signal almost anywhere. Even inside my office building. Really beyond my expectation. Around 1 minute to lock from cold start. Less than 10 seconds for hot start. It even locks faster than my dedicated GPS device in the car.
I installed a freeware navigation software on it. Works really well.
Does tom tom ver 7 or memory maps work on this phone?

GPS fix really slow

Hi, since I've installed the Flyme 5 the GPS became really slow to fix. Then when it get the signal it has a good precision, but it takes too much time to fix.
Is there any trick to make him faster?
Thanks guys
