Hi all,
I bricked a Nook Glowlight trying to restore a half baked backup, and now I think I need partitioning information from someone with a healthy Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight.
Details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805936
Anyone willing to share?
Thanks in advance,

Hi all,
So I'm doing this bootable Honeycomb SD card thing for the Nook, but I have a 16GB card that after writing the image onto it, the nook only see about 1GB left of storage. I don't know what I did wrong and how to fix it. I tried to partition the card into 2 different partitions, but then my computer would only recognize the first partition and not the second...
Does anyone have any idea? Much appreciated.
I'm sorry, posted this in the wrong forum. Would someone be so kind to move it to Nook Color Q&A please? So sorry, and thank you!

Based on his post, I think this is still the wrong group for it.
He has a Nook Color question, not a Nook Tablet one...
Thanks for watching over us Moderator! Must be a thankless job...

agreed, sounds like a nook color question since you can't boot off sd on nook touch.
but to the original question. You will want to find a utility that can resize the partition without destroying the data on the partition.
Agreed, moved to nook color Q & A.

Get Easeus Partition Master (it's free) and resize the last FAT partition (not the boot partition!) to fill out the remaining unallocated space on the card. It should be completely non-destructive and will give the rest of the storage card capacity.
so I been looking around the webs looking for a way to put cynogenmod on my nook color. i found a good youtube video on it but its for the green dot nooks. and it seems I have a blue dot nook. So I'm wondering how I put cynogenmod on my nook... preferably without re partition my nook thanks.
The link in my sig will help put Mirage-Kang CM7.2 on eMMC. You don't *have* to re-partition if you don't want to but you might want to go over this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094371 to see how easy repartitioning is.
Hey
have the glow version for two weeks, and want to try rooting it, probably with the glowNooter method which seems simple enough.
this is my first android device so i'm not familiar with what might be common knowledge for most. (noogie, uramdisk,CWM etc.)
first thing i want to make a backup, but i got a little confused -
there are three relates threads -
1) back\restore by jocala, which instruct to boot with noogie, but the link to nookdevs is dead
2) n2T-Recovery by ros87, states it works until 1.1.0, and mine is 1.1.5
3) clockworkmod based recovery by mali100 which states it does not include some partitions and links to the first one
so - which method is recommended, and where can i find the instructions for it?
thanks in advance
grab the noogie image from the mirror that nookdevs points to - one of their links is to a file at multiupload, and I don't know but wonder if multiupload and megaupload were taken down with the same crazily overdrawn US paperwork?
Write the disk image, boot from it, and make a backup once booted via noogie - you'll get all the partitions and be able to reimage if you need to.
Is there a reason not to upload noogie to mediafire?
backup successful
thanks!
if anyone else having trouble -
I used the instructions from both jocala thread and nookdevs' Rooting/Manual wiki page, the noogie.img is also available to download there.
roadkill's disc image had an error writing the noogie.img to the SD card, so i used WinImage instead, which worked fine.
after booting the nook from the SD card and connecting it to the computer, i used roadkill to read the 1.86GB partition to the backup image file, and checked it's size to be 2000683008 bytes.
i didn't see the partitions from "my computer" (should have?), but they showed up in roadkill as a physical disk.
thanks again
question about the glowNooter

Hello all. I'm in need of a NST restore image (the 1.8gb kind) with the rom partition removed. My NST is completely gone partition-wise. I've tried every method to recover the rom partition with no luck. The hard drive used to back up my original image has gone bad as well. I don't need Wifi or B&N access, so if anyone coudl help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Awesome! Thanks so much.
Hi I think I need to use this as well.
I rooted using clock work 2gb with usb host 176 kernal.
I had not registered with B&N. Now the nook hangs at login (finds wireless, tries to register,
then gives 'error failure to register', then on device info page only options are turn off or reset.
I do not need to be registered to B&N either.
How do I apply this?
Do I write the image on its own to SD card
or do I have to have it on card with clockwork or nook manager?
thx.

I would advise anybody with a bricked Nook who is going to flash it with a generic image to backup their Nook to their PC first.
Use noogie on an SD card.
I use Win32DiskImager to copy.
Other possibilities are dd or roadkill's stuff.
I'm working on a /rom recovery utility for images.
That will recover the unit-specific files so that you can write them back to your Nook.

Hi. I'm trying to fix a nephew's bricked Nook Color.
1. The device shows no obvious signs of damage.
2. I don't know what my nephew was last doing with the device before it bricked.
3. I have rooted phones and tablets of various manufacturers since Froyo. Not a nube.
4. I have used SDFormatter & Win32DiskImager to prep various sized and classed SD cards, but the Nook never reads from the Card.
5. The device will successfully factory reset, but that doesn't fix the boot issue.
6. LeapinLar seems to have the best tutorials. I just need to find a way in to restore what I believe to be a corrupted factory ROM. I'm hoping there is not an actual SD Card hardware issue.
7. Here are just some of the tutorials I have followed with no success:

Ideas?
Well, the first thing to determine is whether you really have a nook color. It might be a nook tablet. If it is a tablet the color SDs will not boot. You can tell by the color of the bezel. The nook color has a black bezel and the nook tablet has a silver bezel. You can also look for the model number on the back.

Mud in my face
Well, I can't believe I missed that. I have a nook.
I'm sorry for wasting the post. I will start by trying a Nook Rom instead of Color Rom. It's a bit embarrassing how much time I spent in the Nook Color forums and missed that little obvious piece.
Thanks again for you help and quick response!:good:
