Unable to select mobile network - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi guys , let's get right into the problem and if you want to know some details just ask me , I'm kinda of a noob
I flashed the ICS333 rom and then I tried to search mobile networks and when i found the right one and tried to select it says "Unable to select network please try again later" . I'm in GB 2.3.5 with I9000XXJVS Baseband . I tried to change modems and stock rome but nothing works . My imei is fine and I tried to restore Efs with Nitrality.. nothing works.
please help me if you can
thanks !

Did you try on first to choose enable "Airplane Mode" and then disable it?

HELP! No service problem

Hi,
I hope someone here can help me. The other night I was browsing the net at home (wi-fi connection) and after a while, if I'm not wrong, I've seen that the phone lost the phone/line connection, but I was not that worried: 1)I was in an area of my home where the cellphone line is not that good, 2) I was about to turn off the phone. The problem is that the next morning I turned it on and got "No service" and there was no way to get the operator line.
Tried the following things:
1) I didn't have the last version of MIUI so I updated it
2) Tried with an old release
3) Made a full wipe
4) Tried another kernel
5) Tried two different radios
6) Set a just rooted-Stock Rom
7) Tried an old august backup
8) Tried sim of different operators
All these things didn't produce any good result.
I also can tell you that the bars of the signal (close to the clock) are visible and the line is very good but if I try to select manually an operator I get "error" something like "now is impossible to connect to this operator, try later".
I really hope someone can help me and is not an hardware problem (but now I don't really now...)
Thank you and have a nice day!
sorry for my poor english that i did not read all post
but
first of all , get outta home , find somewhere outside because there has better single.
try flash a new radio.
go to MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS ---> NERWORK OPERATORS
select "SELECT AUTOMATICALLY"
and ... sometimes MIUI does have single lost problem , if all of these don't work , try flash Stock ROM to determinate if its ROM problem , radio problem or , in the worse scenario , the hardware problem
Yes ok...thanks for the effort but is clear that you didn't read the post. I tried all of that and trying to select manually doesn't work.
Any radio version suggested?
Try the KB3 or the new kf1. Kd always gave me radio dumps couple of times a day with miui
Tried with KF1 no luck.
Any other suggestion?
Ok one update:
typing *#*#4636#*#*
I can see my operator, my IMEI but NOT my phone number.
My phone number doesn't show as well. Did u manage to get your phone to work again? If not, have u tried putting a different sim from the same or a different operator?
I tried almost everything...nothing works. Tried different sims, different operators...nothing.
What model do you have? And did you by mistake flash a wrong radio. A one that wasn't supposed to be for your phone ( I'm outta ideas)
Try
*#*#72786#*#*
Put msl
Select yes
U need to move the EFS files into root of SD.
Nv.log
Nv_data.bin
Nv_data.bin.md5
U must flash a compatible radio first then move them with root explorer
Reboot the phone and ull be fine

Did u change the baseband using baseband switcher after installing CM7.1 ??
If NO .. change it to APAC.. restart ur mobile .. then it must work ..
if u have already switched ur baseband ... then check in settings weather data is enable or not ..
In settings go to network then Mobile data in the end. Enable data

GT-i9505 No mobile network/data after flashing custom ROM

Hi guys been searching all day when I can grab some free WiFi, basically I rooted my s4 gti9505 with auto root and then installed custom recovery, and flashed PAC rom. I'm unable to make calls or receive mobile data but can use WiFi. My settings say baseband unknown .. I'll attach a picture of my settings here in this thread. I have attempted to flash a modem/radio in Odin but this didn't seem to make any difference, the problem is I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do (didn't make a back up of my phone foolishly before flashing PAC rom)
I'd appreciate any help with this guys! My network is vodaphone UK if that makes any difference to any advice given...
Thanks in advance!

will do this too, have just finished flashing MGA modem twice using your steps, will flash rom again..i wonder if i should wipe/factory wipe as i would when installing new rom...ill try it!
no luck -still no network. im running out of ideas
network - unknown
mobile network type - unknown
imei unknown
imei sv - unknown
going out now for a while but thought id ask - do you think that installing official stock rom (perhaps from your s4 unrooting guide) would help flashed via odin? from searching i can see that some folk suggest that stock will reinstall everything i need...im hoping so, i really wouldnt mind going back to stock, anythings better than this

did you put modem in "phone" in odin?
hmmm weird! i guess your imei is not corrupted, sometimes while flashing rom in cwm, efs partition is not detected, so flashing modem twice should work
you can try with an other modem, use new one (but im sure to flash it twice)
another option is trying to flash your stock firmware

yes put it in "phone" mode, thats the second or third one i have flashed now so im not sure it wont help but for sure ill try again!
are you able to determine that its not corrupted? would it state as such if it were? im going to flash a stock firmware as a last resort. lost after that haha
edit - installed cwm using sgs4 flasher and re-installed my custom rom and gapps, booted no probs and network now working - sorted!! thanks for your help i dont think i would have reflashed the rom without your advice to do so
So I'm practically in the same boat. I'm currently on P.A.C. man nightly 09/18 (Vodafone Germany branded device). I never had similar problems, but now I can't call (or be called) and I'm not able to use mobile data.
I nearly tried everything:
1) I checked the IMEI (saved it before switching over to custom roms), but an IMEI number is still there.
2) Went back to stock to see if it's a problem of P.A.C. man ROMS or not. On stock it didn't work either.
3) Went back to P.A.C. man ROM and flashed modem XXUBMF8 via Odin 3.04 (from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025)
4) Flashed the modem again after I flashed the ROM because it didn't work either.
So I'm completely lost now, I really don't know what to do next. I had mobile data for a couple of seconds every now and then, but nothing stable. And since the problem came up (yesterday evening) I can not make any calls at all.
Can someone help me?
Edit: The very strange thing is that I have full reception balks in the notification area (only in grey). But still, I guess this means that the device is somehow able to detect a signal but can not connect to it?
Edit2: I apparently have no Device-ID. May that be a problem?
So I took some screenshots to show you guys my problem a bit better. For some reason my mobile data now works (currently HSPA, but it's extremely slow). But I still can't make any calls (or get called too). =/
Edit: So to sum this up: the strangest thing about this problem is, that even when I go back to full stock I can't make calls. =/ What could be the problem? An IMEI number is present in the settings (althouh the 'IMEI SV' under 'About phone' --> 'Status' was one digit below the current one that I can see under those stats). The whole problem makes me believe that my provider can't sort my phone number to my device (I'm on Vodafone; but if that's really the case: why the hell does mobile data works sometimes?!). The other possibility: something with the modem/radio is broken. Could this be the problem? The thing is that I also tried to flash a custom modem, but the problem is still there...
I'm really concerned that my phone just became an expensive paperweight
Slightly different than my problem in that I didn't even have any bars for reception..my problem was fixed by changing the custom recovery software (originally I used philz to flash PAC), But I flashed cwm and then used this to again flash PAC, and all was good..don't ask my why but it helped me so you might want to try this...

Thank you for your answer!
You also flashed a different modem didn't you? Did this help or was it only the custom recovery? I'm confused because I used CWM before and never had problems. But then this mess all came up...
Yes I flashed several modems, that didn't help..only using a different custom recovery to flash my custom Rom again helped..hope you get sorted!

So I tried to flash PAC with TWRP 2.6.0 (it worked before), but the problem is still there.
I'm really confused. I really don't know what I can do or try to fix this mess... Is there some USSD code or something to find out if my device is missing some ID codes or if the modem is messed up or something?
Edit:
Update: For some reason I now can receive calls/SMS but only when I'm on GPRS speed. Outgoing and ingoing calls are no problem then. When my device is on HSPA or HSPA+ speed however, the old problem of not being able to call or be called is back. On one hand it's good that I'm somehow able to make calls again on the other hand it gets stranger and stranger. I know that it's a bug on PAC man ROMs that you can't change the mobile data speed options (LTE/HSPA/GPRS etc.), but I think that this could be the problem (or at least a part of it)...

Actually I can change the data in my phone between 3G and 2G (don't have LTE support here in my country)
Have you checked your APN? Think that might be a problem.
Also please post the steps you take before flashing PAC (ROM, kernel, recovery, etc)

Within Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode? On PAC? It always crashes when I try to change something there. In the PAC bug post this seems to be a known bug, my mode is also set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. But whenever I enter the settings to change this, only 'LTE' is chosen as option. I don't have LTE on my plan and I read somewhere else that Vodafone has major problems with it's LTE network here in Germany and that it may be better for customers without it to turn it off.
About APN: there is definitely something strange. I can enter the settings and I see three different APNs that were not created by me (they must be the standard carrier ones): they are called Vodafone DE (for Germany), 1und1 (pretty strange because the settings are the very same on this one, only the name is different) and Vodafone DE-MMS.
The strange thing now is that I can't change any value of the Vodafone DE APN... When I go into its settings, everything ia greyed out. This was the same on the stock ROM...
Now when I create a new APN with the correct provider settings (found via Google on the VF homepage), the phone still won't work. When I put the device aside for a few minutes, the Vodafone Deutschland DE APN is the selected APN again although I never went back to it...
Is there some option to take a deeper look into the modem stats to see what's the problem?
Install stock ROM

I tried that already, but it didn't help. Same problem...
I factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik cache and then flashed my Vodafone branded stock ROM via Odin that I had on my device when I got it. Didn't help for some reason... But: should I also try to go back to stock ROM via KIES? I haven't tried this method until now...
Edit: About my flashing method: I went from the stock ROM to rooted (via CF Auto root with Odin). For PAC I then flashed TWRP 2.6.0 and then in recovery factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik and then installed PAC. After that I installed GApps. I used this method before and it worked without any problems...
Edit2: I found this thread, it appears to be the same/a similar problem with the S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805709&page=6
Now is there something similar for the S4? I think I tried calling ##72786# on stock ROM and it didn't work...

Delete the unused APNs.
Do you have mobile data?
Also I asume that you're running the latest vertigo's build, because with me GSM/WCDMA/LTE is always selected.

Sometimes I have mobile data, but only for very limited time; for the majority of time, I don't have mobile data and can not make calls.
I also tried to delete the unused APNs, but still no change =/
I tried to use a different Micro SIM in this device, but the same problem appears. No data, no phone although I have grey reception balks.
any update on this one?!

Signal loss, "SIM CARD INVALID", "PROFIL LOCKED"

Hi,
After installing the rom "V5.3 TW REVOLUTION S5 (S6E +NOTE 5) Xposed", i dont have signal.

Some time i have signal for 2sec, then it's gone, at the mnu "Access point names", it's say, "Acces is restricted for the user profil you actually use".
Some time i have the message "SIM INVALID" to..
I already contacted the owned of this rom, but he dunno what is my problem.
Hope someone can help me there.
Regards.

I got a problem with that Rom. After I flashed it . Everything worked fine. I decided to get back to stock. I found out that my GPS icon not showing on status bar. And there was no lock. I thought it was an efs problem. I flashed back REVOLUTION S5 gps worked. But on stock, no luck. Until I had the idea to check CSC. so I downloaded a Rom of my country. And changed CSC ,after I rooted, with an app called PHONE INFO. And the GPS is OK

[SOLVED] Mobile Network not working

Hey everyone,
i had some issue with my note 3 after update from 4.4.2 stock rom to Touchwiz MM Port for Note 3
That ROM is perfect but the issue is bit too high:
My mobile network not working. The settings under mobile network are correct but it says "disconnected" for mobile network state under "About Device" -> "Status".
Then i tought I should update the modem, what I have done to new Baseband N9005XXUGPOK2
But the issue still exist
Should I update the bootloader also?
Thanks for the help in advance

Yes, corret settings have removed settings and add once again and double checked all information.
Nothing happend if I start mobile network.
For the modem and bootloader, I recommend updating both in tandem.
I will do flash modem and bootloader after work at home to see if it works.
First the modem flash and then the bootloader, or should I take both into Odin at same time?
Thanks
Solved the problem.
I´ve updated modem and bootloader, after that it wont go.
But I´ve tested a solution from my friend, he said I should go to the homepage from my provider and there can u put in your phone number and they will send u a SMS with a configuration.
After that my mobile network works.
That´s strange because the APN settings I manual put in was correct !?
