You are correct. No camera app is in the stock ROM. You have to use a 3rd party app to use it.

this has been covered extensively. open the play store > search "Nexus 7 Camera Launcher" > Install > ???? >Profit (from your tasteful photos)

Hi!
There is no stock Camera app since Google intended on using the front-facing camera for Google+ hangouts only.

Is there any news on a port for touch to focus?

I am missing this feature too.
Any idea why no third-party camera app does this? Is it OS level stuff so it can not be enabled simply by app?

No camera app?

Anyone know where the hell the camera app is? It works from for example the tapatalk app, but not in the launcher

The N7 has a camera app, it just doesn't have the launcher icon visible/available.
Paul has been gracious enough to "make it so".. Get it here in his thread;

Hope that helps,

You can use 'Camera Launcher for nexus 7' from Google Play Store to launch the default camera app.
Any way to use the front camera as a bar-scanner?
Well what the fukkk

Didn't want to start a new thread on this so I thought I would ask here. Can the front app be tricked into being used for something like the chase bank app to take pics of checks? Anybody have any experience with this?

Using N4 as a webcam.

Anyone know how to use N4s front camera as a webcam? I mean to be able to use it on chatrooms like it its on a PC?

Not sure if this supports the Nexus 4, but it looks like the app DroidCam (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dev47apps.droidcam&hl=en) is what you are looking for.
Not quite what I was after. I would like to use my front camera chatting on my phone browser. Same as you use your laptop camera on video chat.

It's not possible with phone browser. At least not the popular ones. They don't support that protocol. Even with you desktop browser you have to install an add-on most of the time.
I recommend using a video chat apps. There are plenty of options out there.

Download Facebook videos

Hey all. Until recently every time i tried to view a video using the Facebook app i would get a pop-up menu, from Es file manager app i think, which gave me the option to download it or view it with mxplayer or with the native viewer etc. It also had two options to use this choice once or all time. For some time now this menu hasn't been appearing at all. Any idea how to restore it please? I run rastakat 4.4.2. Thanks

You can go into the said apps defaults then change them. For example settings / apps / scroll to mx player then clear the defaults at the bottom of the page. I think this is what you mean.
