Anyway, I have just looked at my phone today after it coming off charge last night at midnight (12 hours ago).
I have Facebook, Twitter and a few other apps running in the background (twitter set to refresh every 5 mins)
I have not lost ANY battery as yet! very impressed so far but today will be the real test as we're off out and will be showing friends...etc.
Yup, same here. I've been fondling the phone, tearing it away from my friend's grubby hands, done wifi, lots of youtube, some music, and it's still going strong!
And how are you checking the battery status?
I hope you're not looking at the standard Android battery in the top right corner because it isn't really accurate.

Looking at the stats it is now 15 hours since charge and it's at 74%.

This really surprises me as my battery life has been pretty abysmal. This morning I took it off charge and left it. It lost 5% just sitting there – doing nothing at all. I didn't have WiFi or GPS or anything active either.
Something odd is going on here...Does anyone know if it is going to make a difference charging from the USB cable as opposed to a mains adapter? I can't for the life of me think of a reason why it would.
I am not finding the stellar battery life that others are reporting. It is too early to tell, but I dont think it is quite as good as my Hero.
I assume those with very good battery life generally have good signal strength. What about widgets? I am running a number of things including Digital Clock widget and a weather forecast one etc, but nothing seemingly out of the ordinary.

Yes, the signal strength makes a huge difference. While I am at home, my phone is constantly trying to find signal (I live just on the other side of a small mountain from the cell tower...) - I vary in and out from 1 bar and none. Doing nothing on my phone for the whole day except replying to the odd text message brings me down to about 20% battery left by days end (6am-6pm.. so, twelve hours).
Now, move me to the other side of town for work. I will use Wifi, play some games(I am at work afterall..), reply to texts and take a few calls. In the twelve hour time period I will be down to about 50% battery life instead. I get 4-5 bars of signal and 3G coverage the whole time.
Okay I'll be completely honest here.
My phone SOMETIMES loses signal at home but not too much, maybe 5 times a day?
I have Flip clock and weather widget on my main screen.
Left hand I have Twitter and Facebook widgets
Right hand I have News and weather stock widget running
Starfield wallpaper
At the time of writing this I have 72% battery.
Rooted with Bacon add on and Theme X.
Signal strength is a huge factor, especially if you are around 1 bar/drifting in and out your radio will be using 2-4 times(dependig on how much searching it is doing) as much juice than full bars.

Have you looked into a signal booster for you home? They run about $50 for good ones that support 3G and all, they are powered antenas you put on a house window, and while they won't take no-bars and make it full bars, it will give you a constant signal and probably boost you up to 2-3 bars of 2G, and get you 1-2 of 3G(if there is any 3G signal to be grabbed).

I understand exactly what you are saying. I am in the desert surrounded by mountains and always dropping signal so it is killing my phone within 6 hours. I continue to condition my battery so hopefully when I finally go back to Detroit my battery life will be excellent.
My experience is exactly the opposite. My N1 has only 15% left after 12 hours of very minimal use. I only made 1 call today, no browsing/playing. The phone was in standby mode 90% of the time. I have task manager to kill all the unwanted apps. Screen brightness is set to the lowest.
When I first got the phone I thought the battery life was very good. After a while now, it's ok. Maybe it's because I have all these other things setup right now. Since I'm on Fido, I have it set to only use 2G.
If I barely use the phone and just check emails and send a few messages, it'll run down to about 60% after 12 hours off the charger. If I heavily use it, such as wifi browsing and playing some games or something, I can get it down to 20-30% after 12 or so hours off the charger.
To me it's fine, it lasts the day no matter what I really do, but I don't see it lasting 2 days on a single charge.

Been excellent for me! Much better than my iPhone. Im not using using a task manager to kill apps but I did go through a lot of the apps and disable a lot of the auto updating. Like for Facebook, Twitter, News, Weather etc and lasts me all day with a few calls, texts, browsing/playing
I too, have noticed less than stellar battery life with my N1. I wouldn't call it abysmal, but considering I'm only running four Widgets set to update no sooner than every hour, have GPS turned off unless I need it, have good coverage the vast majority of the time, don't force stop apps any more, and have for the most part stopped messing with the phone, and it will still drop around 8-10% battery power/hour. The most my battery lasts is around 12 hours, and that's pretty much leaving the phone alone all-day.
I'm not terribly disapointed, but I'm not terribly impressed either.

This described my battery life until a few days ago. I called HTC support, and they convinced me that it was worthwhile to let my battery die and charge it up again to 100%. So, I let it die, left the battery out for maybe 10-20 minutes and charged it again overnight. I was really surprised to see that it helped a lot. My battery percentage no longer drops as I watch it - with moderate use in a bad coverage are, I'm down to 40-50% over a 9 hour workday.
It would be interesting to see if people fully charged their battery before first use?
I FORCED myself to with the Nexus and it's the ONLY phone I've ever done that with!!
It seems to have helped I think I could easily go a day and a half without charging.....

Yes, raise your hand if the first time you charged your N1 you ran the battery all the way down, turned the phone off(battery pull is best) then put it on the charger and let it get a full charge with the power off?
If not, you didn't properly condition the battery meter and the battery itself. It can be saved, not to worry, just run it all the way down(and I mean the phone shuts itself off all the way down) turn it back on, if it boots all the way up let it go until totally dead again. Then, pull the battery, put it back in after 30 seconds or so, put it on the charger without turning on the phone, and let it charge for a couple hours/overnight to get a full 100% charge on it. Take it off the charger, then turn it on, tada!
How has everyone's battery life been with the Vibrant? I'm having a few issues with mine, I barely used my phone today, and its down to 57%, with cell standby taking up 33% of the battery.

Your battery has and always will react to the way you use it. If you a new user and play with it all day then its going to go fast. If you use 3g, wifi, bright screen you are going to get crappy battery life.
If you use it like a normal person with 6 to 10 calls a day, light web usage, some text messages you should get a battery to last you all day.
Fire up the screen and watch videos or listen to mp3's all day well then your not.
I turned off every little thing, and i still get crappy battery. Wifi off, gps off, sync off, wallpaper off, the whole shabang.
Does your phone actually die, or does it just show a percentage you are unhappy with?
The measurement seems to be a bit off on the Vibrant.

After discharging/conditioning it a couple times, my battery is much better. 9 hours of standby overnight, it only lost 10% battery. That's pretty good IMO.
I just unplugged my phone an hour ago, watched some videos, browsed the web and my battery is down to 86%. It dropped 14% in less than an hour!

Is this your first smart/android phone? Your battery doesn't sound far off for an high end smart phone.you'll eventually learn how to extend the battery, especially after the newness wears off and your not playing with it 24/7 like most of us right now.remember this is an extremely high end phone, it takes a lot of juice to run the high end chip set.if you buy a high performance sports car do you expect to have some fun with it and get 30+mpg doing so? You've gotta understand what you've got. Soon enough there will be extended batteries available and if your willing to root, many devs are capable if tweaking the os to get the most out of the battery without hampering speed our features.

I'm having major issues too. Down to 28%(down to 25% now just typing this message) after 3 hours this morning. I just powered off and back on and I went from 50% down to 28%
Here we go again g1 all over again Seems like the only way to keep power is to uninstall everything.
I'm also seeing cell standby as a possible issue.
Frustrated... Guess it's time to reset to see if one of my apps is the issue...

What percent do you show for "cell standby" from setting->about phone->battery use? I'm starting to think that my poor reception area is my issue.
I think the battery percentage shown in the Status is off compared to what is shown on the battery icon. That said, my battery lasts all day with normal use. If i use the web more than normal, of course the battery goes faster but still i usually get all day out of it. May have to charge it some in the evening.
Was hoping it would be better like the iPhone 4 battery seems to be. It is said that 2.2 will have a bit battery life but we'll see. Believe it when i see it.....if we ever get the update
My wife and I got Vibrants at the same time. She was getting great battery life, around 70% by the end of they day, and I was dying just after 1pm. I assumed that i had a defective phone, but decided to wipe it and try running "stock" prior to returning it for a new one.
After wiping the phone and starting over, I'm getting much better battery life, but I think that it's because I didn't use "push" email. I have a corporate Exchange email/calendar/contacts account, and before I had it set to 'push" (or something like that, my phone is syncing DoubleTwist right now, so I can't check. ) When I re-setup my email account, I told it to check only every 15 minutes.
My battery life has been much better this time around, and I think the email sync setting is 1/2 the reason, the other half being that T-Mobile coverage isn't great where I've been the last week. I'm guessing that the "push" sync meant that the phone needs to keep a data link to the server, which is fine if you have strong coverage. When it's weak, then the radio has to work overtime trying to maintain a link, which drains the battery.
I'm going to try this out today and tomorrow, and if the battery life is better than I'll keep it rather than try trading for a new one.
For one, if you're having a battery issue, buy a charger or spare battery. Get a task manager to kill your apps after a certain time and check into what services are running in the background. Just cause you're not playing with the phone doesn't mean its not running or using the battery.

Cell Standby is at 24 percent.
Maybe its some quality control issue in the batteries? Everyone is getting such varied battery performance. I'm thinking of calling T-Mobile and requesting a new battery.
I notice on reboots many apps get started automatically. I've gotten better battery life just by manually shutting them down with astro file manager app. Ultimately any time an app is running even if its not using cpu cycles it still costs power to keep it in ram. Manually shutting down will minimize this obviously.

Now we know the reason why the battery is draining so fast on Galasy S Phones.
The simple reason the AMOLED screen.
If we compare the Droid X with the Galaxy S both with 1500mAh batterys. While the Droid X can reach up to 7:42 hours of battery life the Galaxy s can only 4:44 hours. Its sad because the marketing made us believe that AMOLED is power saving.

I tested a mkv 720p video playing for 1 hour and it only used 15% battery. From that, the battery should last about 6.5 hrs.
I was reading a test on another site a week or two ago, and it claimed the Galaxy S ran a 720p vid of Avatar on loop for 7.5 hours before refusing to run the video any further as the battery had reached 20, so 4.5 hours seams a little low?

Not quite true that it's just the screen.
I installed a widget to turn off data connections entirely (running on 1G phone and text only) and I get about 4-5 days off a single charge now, and that's with moderate gaming/music/ebook use.
If I want to use the internet/email/whatever I just click the widget, it reconnects in 10 seconds and I am away.
I am also running the LG Optimus launcher as well, which I notice gives me much better battery life than TouchWiz/Launcher Pro/etc (although don't hit the volume button on the homescreen as it force closes)

Well, that's pretty darn good then! I doubt I've seen battery life that good on my phone....
when the phone is set on auto brightness 90% of the time is less than 50% brightness
when is above 50% brightness it is super cool! that's when you see the full effect of the SAMOLED
if you set it to say 60% or 75% brighness you will see the full bloom of the colours.
I'm pretty *****y about my phone's battery life but i have to admit that watching mkv and avi videos on my phone does not drain the battery as i would have expected. 1h30min movie drained around 20% of the battery, brightness in the perfect middle, 3G on and all that. So i think 7h++ playback is definitly doable.
Oddly enough i have the impression that leaving your phone screen on for 1h30min would probably drain close to 20% of the battery (just an impression though, might be totally wrong).
Also, 3G drains a lot of battery. I messed up with my phone and didn't have the APN configured, so no 3G, battery performance exploded, especially if u'r in an area with not so strong signal
i only notice heavy drain on battery when i'm on WiFi or 3G
like browsing the web, downloading stuff
just having WiFi on and 3G on does not consume that much battery, it is only when they are fully active.
all other tasks like watching movie, or doing offline stuff, even playing games does not consume much battery
i can drain the battery with just 4 hours of constant browsing/download stuff
but i can go on the full 24 with 1 battery pack if i do not use 3G/Wifi
on JM1 (or maybe JM2) when i had no 3G and WiFi turnerd off, bascically it would be 2% off every 8h-10h iddle time which sounds really good. However, according to the reported capable iddle time of the phone, it's not that good. People also reported less consumption in iddle.
I don't think i had too many tasks runing in the background (definitly no task killers)

I fully agree with you. I'm surpised my phone uses so little power when watching a movie, coming from winmo I'm shocked I can use this thing for a day (12-18hours) before it dies. Overall I'm quite happy with my set up as everywhere I go I have power cables. Car (check) , Office (check.USB sync) , walking (check, 2000mha solar battery charger) and Home (power adapter). I'm power paranoid due to being with Winmo since the Aero 2130 to X1i.
And yeh, 3g kills things 4hours max when on 3g.
the main thing that seems to drain the battery for me is web surfing and widgets which use the data connection. I now run a minimalist set of home screens with few widgets and have already noticed an increase in performance and battery life. 3g is pretty power hungry, but since vodafones 3g connectivity is so poor, I am often forced to use gprs through the day anyway as I'm plagued with time outs and dropping connections (if anyone from vodafone is reading, I've only been with you 3 months, and already I know I won't be staying with you come the end of my contract!)
Something's gotta be wrong with the test? I mean, look at the Captivate and Vibrant, both do about 4h 45m, but the Epic 4G does 5h 34m? Same screen, same battery, no? Yet ~50 minutes difference? Must be something other than the screen doing something...

Tachikoma_kun, what widget are you using to shut off 3G?
I came to the Galaxy from a HTC legend and I miss the HTC widget that lets you shut down mobile date completely. When I first had my galaxy on JF3 firmware, I noticed there was an option in the settings to use '2G' only. But since flashing JM8 I can't see this any longer.
Most of the widgets I've seen do some jiggery pokery with the APN configuration to achieve the data/3G shutdown, does the widget you use do the same thing?

What's the point of having an android phone if you can't use as mobile internet as you want? I'm on unlimited data plan and my SGS lasts less than half a day on full charge with data on. Its the same thing with my old experia x10i. So I'd assume its the 3g/hsdpa connection. I had a blackberry 9700 as well. Battery life shortens significantly with 3g on.

Hoping to get some good feedback from those who have used the epic for a couple months or more. Now that you're probably using the device normally, as in not attached to it all the time, how is battery life? I've heard initial reports that it's not so good... Also, for those of you who have updated unofficially to Froyo, does the upgrade help with battery life? Can anyone comment how Epic's battery compares to EVO's?

I usually get about 9 hours in my stock battery and 6-7 on my cheap eBay ones. Overall idea say meh, its about on par with most other android devices. I'm running the stock dk28 leak as well with no battery tweaks or mangers of any sort.

On most of the DK28 roms I'm pulling a solid 10 hours with moderate use. For reference, If I leave the phone on standby all day in my house it's lasted 23 hours, if I recall correctly. Honestly that's pretty damn good for a smartphone.
EDIT: I don't use any battery-manager or powersaver either. Brightness = Auto, bluetooth/wifi/4g/gps = 1 is on at any given point in time usually. Google auto-sync = on as well as touiteur (twitter) and facebook notifications every 15 min.
I have been impressed by my battery life actually. I can't speak for the EVO(although maybe soon since my friend might give me his as a backup). I can usually get between 4-5 hours of play time(surfing, texting, apps, music, wireless tethering, movies, etc) The rest of the time it is usually idol. I usually charge it over night, unplug it around 7am, then plug it back in around 11pm. At 11pm, I usually have between 10- 30% battery left.
I just switched to a froyo ROM(bonsai, which is excellent) and so far the battery seems to be about the same. By lunchtime 12:30 it is usually between 70-80% and right now I am at 72% but I also had some extensive time testing the tethering feature.
To be honest, I had a blackberry, and the battery life was a little better, but the features were not nearly as good. It amazes me the battery these things get with that amazing samoled screen.
disclaimer: I do not play games outside of sudoku and spades, so my CPU does not really get challenged, which probably accounts for some battery savings. Oh and I use regular wallpapers, cause I don't really like the live wallpapers.
Im on 2.2.1,and I have to say I see a 40% increase in battery life compared to 2.1,and thats about 11-12 hours,no battery saving apps either,well except setcpu,which does help,but its set at 100mhz - 1ghz conservative.And I use it more now then when I got it,I havnt got tired of it at all.I have noticed the first 10% goes the fastest,and I have calibrated twice since moving to the ROM im on,and its the same in all,so if you get an Epic dont let that scare you.

I've had an Epic since a couple weeks after it was released and I think the battery is probably working the way they meant it to, which means a solid day. I charge it overnight, unplug it when I go to work, plug it in when I go to bed, and I'm usually at around 40% by that time with moderate use. I don't generally have problems with battery drain.
The exception to this is when using GPS with the screen on. It's really difficult to use this phone as a direct PND replacement even though it's basically made for it (especially with Froyo, which fixes the GPS lock issues), because the screen and GPS together will drain the battery from 100% to 0% in about 40 minutes. My dedicated PND, by contrast, will give me 8 *hours* of continuous use on battery power.
Also, I have a 1000mah car charger and even with that connected, the battery still drains when using GPS and the screen (it just drains slower). I have to just turn the screen off when I know I won't be needing to make a turn for a while.
The one thing I wish about the Epic is that it had a regular old LCD screen. The AMOLED screen is the one battery killer - you really need to watch how long you have it on. In normal use it isn't much of an issue, but you just can't do much of all the cool things they advertise that you can do with this phone (like GPS or watching movies).
I do also keep my screen turned way down, which makes a difference, but it's still a killer.
Well, I reported over in another thread that with Froyo, and basically having my phone sit around and do nothing with no WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, no "fixes" such as switching to airplane mode or killing the DRM service, and no "battery saver" programs, I was able to get 108 hours on a single charge with the stock battery (1500mAH). That was with the screen on time of about 50 minutes and talk time of about 40 minutes... (pictures here)
It all boils down to how you use your phone, but in a stock configuration, the power management seems to be better on 2.2 than 2.1 as shown by the large amount of "idle" time I was able to get on a single charge.

I don't disbelieve that - in my post above, when I'm talking about draining the battery with GPS and the screen on in 40 minutes, or when I'm talking about having 40% battery left at the end of a regular day, it's almost always with a screen on time of 30-40 minutes. So 50 minutes sounds about right to drain the battery completely, with nothing else on.
I'll bet if you had 0 minutes screen on time - just let the phone sit idle - you could have probably gotten 200 hours or more.

LOL, what's the point of having a phone then? 8-9 days without using it? I dont think I could hold out that long.

No I know, I was more just clarifying so it didn't seem like we contradicted each other. I think the important stat is really screen time and then any extra radios you have turned on. Just with the regular radio and nothing else, you could get ridiculous battery life on the Epic. It's the extra radios and screen that kill it.
My phone gets me through the day. About 20% down in 7 hours on standby, so thats decent. Heavy usage with full brightness on and live wallpaper starting in the morning, stopping at like 6 A.M...it'd probably die there, for me at least.
The battery is good; I'm running the dk28 rom but it really hasn't affected my battery life at all.
On phoenix kernel i was getting 20-36 hours moderate to light usage. With acs xtreme kernel I'm getting 12-20 hrs w/ moderate use.
That's about 3-4 hrs of screen on time, 45-60 min of talk time. Emails, text ing, twitter, xda, and some various forum reading. Angry birds if waiting in line somewhere..
Note: I leave background data turned off and manually sync/refresh mail/contacts/data. I have no need/desire to be alerted evrytime someone updates twit/fb. I also use juice defender.

I can barely look at my phone on full brightness - it hurts my eyes with beams of awesome.
I get between 13 and 16 hours depending on how much Angry Bird time I put in that day. If I'm doing normal browsing, facebooking, etc then I'll be closer to 16, but gaming drops my battery like a rock.
Thanks for the replies! I think I'm convinced a lot of it has to do with how you use the device. Pretty much how it went with the EVO when it first came out... lots of people complaining about battery and then it kind of faded once everyone settled down. All I need is to get from early morning to right before bed.
GPS with google nav is a killer on any Android with decent screen size and resolution I think. Anyway, I thought SAMOLED is supposed to save a little battery? Or is that only if the background is black? In any case, I usually dim my screen to 30%, keep GPS off, keep auto-updates down to a manageable size, and use some other tricks to save battery, so I should be good to go.
I tried to thank all of you with the new thanks button, but didn't realize there's a limit per day haha. I'll finish it up tomorrow.
As far as I am concerned the battery life on DK28 is amazing. I use overclock widget set at 1000/200 screen on and 400/200 screen off. I can pull more than 30 hours with multiple phone calls, texting, email, web and games for over an hour. Here's the screen shot I took today before putting the phone on the charger.
I've noticed a substantial improvement in battery life since upgrading to 2.2. However, I also began using the Epic Experience ROM shortly afterwards, which boosted it even further. That, plus Juice Defender nets me a perfectly acceptable battery life.
I used my phone heavily today and still got about 18 hours out of it before plugging it in before bed at a 35% charge. On top of that, my phone's never felt snappier.
whoa, is it normal for the epic to take 3.5 hours to charge? If so, any explanation? Past devices i've had tend to take an hour less... Running 2.1, does Froyo help?
Currently on Epic Experience with SuperPower installed. I unplugged the phone about 16 hours ago and it's sitting at 36% with light voice and moderate SMS/data use.
Battery life definitely improved after upgrading from 2.1, even with light use it would be dead in under 12 hours on stock 2.1/DI17.
How to get unbelievable battery life
I have some very VERY helpful hints of great battery life for the Epic 4g. (as i am on hour 26 to 28 and have 20% left with about 1 to 1.5 hours of screen on use.)
First off, use black, or almost black background. Our screens are superAMOLED. This means that if the screen is showing black... those particular black pixels... are simply not on. If you have the home screen black, and have no icons on it, then the status bar is all that is using power... maybe 6 or 8 percent.
Next, Lose the brightness. A few helpful hints on this. 1) uncheck the autobrightness in the display settings 2) turn the brightness down in the display settings 3) If you slide your finger from right to left across the status bar at the top, the screen will dim, if you slide your finger from left to right, it will brighten(this causes accidental brightness 4) cover this light sensor on the right side at the top (I believe) because the phone seems to have a problem always autobrighting even with the uncheck in the settings. This is done best with electrical tape, or perhaps finger nail polish. These things should ensure to always be at minimum brightness
Next, Install Frankenstein Froyo Rom(lightest rom=less cpu usage/blackest rom=less screen battery usage), And Genocide Kernel(undervolted)
Next, install task killer(keeps the rom at optimum efficiency meaning less cpu usage assuming you are killing the apps 3 or 4 times a day) install set cpu(This allows you to limit the cpu clock speed(400mhz is optimal usable and battery settings)
Things to remember, ALWAYS TURN THE SCREEN OFF.
If you pick it up every thirty seconds to see if you have a text, then just sit it down... whats happening now.. The screen is staying on for another 15 seconds probably. DUH!!! bye bye battery!!
TURN OFF THE SCREEN BEFORE YOU SIT THE PHONE DOWN!!!
Turn off gps when not in use.
Turn off wifi when not in use.
Turn off 4g when not in use
Dont use it as an mp3 player.
Dont talk on speaker phone.
Those last few were pretty obvious.. but some people need to be told.
I Hope this helps anyone looking to conserve battery. Follow these steps and i promise 24 hours plus ever time and often as much as 48 hours.

By the way, When you set yourself up with this rom, you are making your phone TWICE as fast... LITERALLY. Hard to believe that a ROM could be twice as fast.
With stock android2.1 this phone gets 800 to 900 in quadrant(benchmark tool/tell how fast your phone REALLY is) Stock android 2.2 quadrant score is a little better scoring as high as 1000.
With this setup, i have gotten as high as 1950 in quadrant. No joke. This is reflected as you cant even tell the phone is clocked down to 400mhz without heavy apps and REALLY paying attention.
I used to get about 8 hrs of use before having to charge. Battery would drain even when I wasn't using the phone. Since flashing to DI18 a few months ago battery life has been great. A good 15-17 hours of moderate/high use and minimal drain with the phone on standby.
I lower the brightness all the way, end the DRM process and do the TWS trick after a reboot. No fancy battery management app that disables all your phone for the sake of battery.
I expect 2 hrs of the screen being on before my battery gets down to 20-30%. Which I think is very reasonable for moderate to high usage.
So i am sorry if this should be in a different section but I thought it should be in general.
I have had the epic for about 3 months now and i have noticed my battery drains extremeley quickly. However i put it down to a bright screen and lots of game playing and internet surfing. However over the last week i noticed it drains even more. Today i timed myself. It went from 97 percent where it started at full charge(i don't know why but it always does that) down to 87 percent in 18 MINUTES!!! I was only surfing on the market downloading a game here and there. What are your thought on this? Do i have a bad battery?
p.s. I recently installed viper rom 4.0.2 c. would this have anything to do with it?

First, about the 97% thing, it is part of the protection built into the battery to keep it from overcharging. It will charge to 100%, then settle back to about 97%. Then, it doesn't charge back up to 100% after that.
Second, it sounds like you have something eating processor cycles. How fast does it drain when you aren't surfing the market and downloading? Have you checked to see what is using the battery or the processor? Are you using a live wallpaper? Were you on wifi? Were you downloading stuff with a crappy 3g connection? Or was your signal good?
I don't think it is the battery. You need to find out what is using the juice.
edit: and there's no need to bump your post only two hours after you posted it. It is early in the morning and people will be around soon enough.

I have no wall live paper-using viper rom apocolypse paper. I check and it always says dislpay is the problem yet it is as low as it can possibly go. I leave wifi 4g and gps off at all times prety much. I have a 5 bar connection because i have a sprint tower litterally behind my house. My house is in front of a golf course and the tower is on the golf course i can see it when i look out my window so i doubt its the connection.

Did you use Spare Parts to check if it's sleeping properly?
how do you do tht i have never used spare parts? is that the battery usage thing?

Spare parts is a free app that gives you access to some hidden settings in the android os. Download and install it from the market.
Before you run it for the first time, connect your Epic to the charger for a couple seconds, then unplug it and immediately and hit the power button to put the screen to sleep. This will reset your battery history stats. Let your phone sit for a few minutes with the screen off. If you get any calls or text messages during that time you will have to start the process over again. After 4 or 5 minuets, wake the phone and run Spare Parts. Hit "Battery history" and look at your "Running" percentage. Then touch where it says "Other usage" and select "Partial wake usage". This will give you a list of apps and components that are keeping the phone awake while the screen is off. Touch whatever app is at the top of the list (most often this is "Android System") and check the amount of time it is keeping the phone awake.
Let us know what you come up with.

Looks like TIKL is the culprit. I stopped using that a couple months ago.
Do you remember what your "Running" percentage was before you checked "Partial wake usage"?
i believe it was around 9 percent
Sounds like every Epic that came out. Mine also. Some people have tricks and apps that help battery. But it's not your battery it's working well. Does it keep a charge? it's working.
What helped me... I was soo tired of it draining. Just brought two extra batteries from ebay.. $9.99 (not sure the going rate anymore there are tons of people selling these just pick one) now I have 3 batteries, a wall charger.. and now I'm good to go on vacations and road trips.
This might not be an option for you. but it's out there sides.. $9 is a deal.
I don't think i wana do that. I am not guna pay 10 bucks for 2 samesung batteries that aren't going to work. I would rather pay 30 for stock batteries, even if they cost more they will last longer and not blow up in my pants pockets. If i buy from a chinese company how will i know that it even works?
I agree I'm sick of these chip batteries that doesn't worth any next I'm buying at least OEM.
