So i pre ordered my phone from Verizon and it should be at my house as of this Tuesday. Now my only concern is that when I look at the confirmation email it sent me id did not include my apartment number but it did include my building number. Should I be concerned about this? I realized that when I ordered another gs3 it auto filled in my information and id assume that it took my billing adresse and just placed it with the order. Is there anyone that lives in an apartment that knows what i am talking about and can tell me if their package got delivered ok?
I don't live in an apartment, but years ago when I did, any packages would be left with the office, and a notice was always either left on the door or placed in the mailbox by the office personnel.
Get tracking number. Call shipping company. Talk to customer service and tell them briefly your concern. Do this immediately, before the package gets on the delivery truck to your place. If you have a delivery guy that comes to your complex on Monday, try to briefly tell him of your concern and your correct apartment number. Give them your tracking number and printed out receipt for shipping to confirm your story along with a valid state issued ID. You don't need to tell them what's in the box, in case it mysteriously disappears. Just tell them you're concerned it might get sent to the wrong apt or returned to sender because of not enough information to get to you, the intended recipient. Or you could ask them to hold it at the distribution center and you will pick of up yourself with proper ID and documentation. I'm not saying this will work but that's what I would do if I were in your situation.

My phone was stolen in london yesterday. It had a PAYG sim in it, and I have been calling it and sometimes it rings. I've left messages and texts but nothing.
I have seen services like mapamobile and followus which offer triangulation tracking but the problem with this is that I don't want the theiving twat to know that I'm tracking it, and all these services send tracking notification texts ti the handset being tracked.
Does anyone know of any services or software that can track my phone?
I've been trying to postpone it ( to give the teef a chance to redeem themselves) but worst comes to worst I'll call orange and get the phone blocked.
try https://www.immobilise.com/
Get this: ORANGE can see (on screen - while I'm on the phone to them) who put their SIM in my phone by looking at the IMEI info!
They WILL NOT TELL me as this would be a breach of the information of the theiving c*nt that took my phone. I have already registered the phone stolen with the police and their response was "well if we followed ever stolen mobile phone we wouldn't be doing anything else blahblahblah"
The police said if I knew who took the phone they would go and arrest them, search their house (and find all my other items they nicked at the same time).
Does anyone know of software or a service that can track my phone from the IMEI?
Googling throws up a number of sponsored links, eg
www.mobilelocate.co.uk
Not sure if it's IMEI based. was it insured?
V
Unfortunately, all of these pay services send a text message to the phone that you want to locate and will only then locate that phone, once a permission to locate reply text has been be sent from that phone back the locating service.
For my circumstances, this won't help as there is no way that the theiving [email protected] is going to allow themselves to be tracked.
Any other ideas greatly apprecited (especially from orange employees hint hint)
Have you tried calling your opperator to find which cell tower its using? By this way you may get to know his location. And moreover i heard somewhere that if three towers' triangle pointings with distance may be help you to locate your phone in exact position, but i don't think theyl use this technology for finding a phone. Its only used to track terrorists
Anyway, good luck on your next device. Use precautions like my software UTA
Regards
Carty..
Carty you are exactly right, the signal can be triangulated to pinpoint it's location within a few metres however this is only really done for serious crimes, such as kidnapping, murder, terrorism etc.
But further than that, the network (orange in this case) when someone puts a SIM into a handset, that info (SIM data and IMEI) is recorded by network and for this reason I did not have the phone immediately blocked. When I spoke to Orange they could actually see who is using my phone now!, but they will not give me the info and just for theft the police don't get involved to the point where they get a court order to request that person's details.
Bloody annoying :x
Hey I think you may want to try http://www.eastmobiles.com
in australia, a stolen phone, once reported stolen with imie number. the phone is locked/blocked/bricked by all the telco's.
So i have the Venue Pro. Service Provider is Tmobile USA in Denver, CO. I keep dropping calls (did not happen with my HD2). when i look at my phone it does not have signal and looks like it is changing bands between 2g and 3g. Do not have this problem when on 2g only. Also did not have this problem when using my HD2 phone. This problem happens even when sitting outside my house where my other TMO line has full signal.
I can back you up, I've noticed that the phone doesn't seem to handle the HSPDA > EDGE handoff very well. Often I have seen my phone go from low 3G signal to no service and then to EDGE. The loss in service seems brief and I've yet to miss a call but it does delay my push email by minutes.
The same thing happens when the phone goes from EDGE back to 3G. Not sure if this is a Dell specific problem or a WP7 bug; do you know if any other WP7 handsets behave the same way? MY brother notices the issue on his Venue Pro as well.
Finally I am not crazy. Is there a dell support number or a microsoft support number where we can report this?
1-800-308-3355 is the number for Dell Mobility, let me know how it goes.
finally
After replacing 2 Venue Pros at the Microsoft store my phone has the SIM error after working for 24 hrs. Microsoft did not have nay more in stock to replace so I called Dell and after a few hours on the phone with them and talking to a supervisor they are replacing the phone directly for me. The process for any other consumer is the following below. FYI the ownership on the phone by default is the Microsoft Store you bought your phone from and to get a replacement you need to transfer ownership.
Before you call Dell be prepared to spend an hour on the phone.
Login to support.Dell.com and click on the ownership transfer link on the bottom left side.
Then Select "What if the Find My Service Tag scan doesn't work for me? "
Then enter the Service tag # and ES code from the back of your phone.
Under the original owner info Please enter the Microsoft Store's address. For the first and last name I used Microsoft Store.
Then enter your Info in the section below and click submit. I got a transfer successful screen listing my phone's ST number.
Call Dell Mobility support at 1800-308-3355 and select the option 3 and talk to the service advisor. Please be patient with them because it is a new product for them too and they are just following a script. The worst part is that they do not even know that their own phone's Memory Card is not a user replaceable unit. If they tell you at the end of the call to swap your MicroSD cards ignore that part of the advise because if you attempt to do that you will void your phone warranty. Now I am still waiting for my phone but it was shipped. They will give you the option of either UPS or FedEx.
Wow... this seems kind of a strange way to get a new phone. Do you already have a tracking number for the new one? How are you supposed to return your old one?
And if I understand correctly, you've transferred ownership (and removed the 30 day in-store return policy with the Microsoft Store) and now you are able to get direct replacements from Dell?
Please let us know how your new unit is, I'm very interested to see if they send you a 16GB device that actually works.

wow. talk about bad days...
Attached is the update. Still not shipped.
Any update now that the phone is officially released to the web?
nope, Dell Mobility support is good (i mean the reps) but they are so untrained and no knowledge of what is going on.
Ok, so here is my dilemma. I guess I should have read more before buying this phone, but I guess some things you just learn with time.
I LOVE this phone , but due to t-mobile's stupid restrictions I would have to return it. I would rather sell it than wait days for Dell to refund me my money.
I bought the 16GB version off contract and have the receipts and everything it came with.
Everything is still wrapped up and never opened.
The only thing that was removed was the phone and battery. The Keyboard is still covered in plastic.
Now my story: I bought the phone because I was planning to give WP7 a try with the most anticipated phone of the year. And when I had it, I was going to use the line as my main buisness line with my Google Voice. Come to find out, I cannot foward my voicemail to google voice because Flexpay or Even More PLus accounts have that disabled. I called Technical support and begged , they refused. So, at this point the phone has no use to me and I don't want a 2 year contract. I Know it is crazy to sell a phone for something that little. But I have 2 phones on my google voice, and when it forards the voicemail from my first phone, it rings my Dell Venue Pro phone instead of going to voicemail, hence a loop. And I do not want T-Mobile handling my VM. I want both numbers to be independent of each other.
Not to bore anyone.
I am selling the phone Brand New as it came. All I Want is the $499 OR BEST OFFER. I don't care for the tax.
Price includes shipping. Pretty much my loss here.
For those in Houston, TX or Katy, TX you can meet me and pick it up.
Please text or PM me. 832-413-3951. First come, First Serve.
Or let me know what you think.
Thanks.
SOLD!!!! Thanks to all those who contacted me. Appreciate the business.

Maybe I don't *fully* understand what you're saying, but there is a switch in Google Voice that says, "When forwarded from XXX number, send to GV VM."
I use this switch to allow my GV number to ring to my DVP, but if I forward it back (decline the call, etc), it forwards back to GV, and GV knows to send it to VM - not loop...
Is this what you're trying to do?

Let me explain a little more.
I have a google voice number GG, and I have my regular cell CC ( setup with google Voicemail), and now Flexpay FP ( does not support google voicemail forwarding).
When someone calls my regular # CC, it rings and if I don't pick up, it should send it to google voicemail. But that does not happen, it sends it to my FP number and rings it and ends up sending the call to my Regular T-mobile Voicemail. I don't want that to happen. I want the calls made to my cell, if not answered to be sent to GVoicemail as setup, not forwarded to my other number. I have disabled this with no luck.
And I understand why it is like this and it sucks. See, when calls are being forwarded to google voicemail, it is treated like a regular call dialing GG. And I have set all calls made to GG to be sent to my FP. So, that must be the issue, and since FP does not support GG Voicemail forwarding, it is sent to my regular t-mobile VM.
If you know a work around, I would love to keep my phone , and where can I find this switch in google voice you are taking about?

I dont understand why you couldnt just send it back to dell. its only obvious at this point you're trying to pull some strings.
i think i know what you're up to.

Believe me , I am pulling no strings. Just that it would have taken a while for Dell to refund me the money. But its easier if I just get the cash or a paypal transfer from someone
Is it available ?
If yes, Check pm pls
If no delete it.

Just telephoned the UK microsoft for activation, tel 0844 800 2400
Any they told me that they can't issue an activation code, I would have to call the phone provider.
What do I do now ?

I activated mine via that number fine couple of days ago. Try a few times, yo may get a operator that will do it.
If they keep saying that, its likely that they have changed policy so that you have to contact HTC directly, If that's the case you are **** out of luck and will not be able to activate your phone.
Just tried again, spoke to another operator and they have been told not to give out any more activation codes, I have to contact my phone provider o2...
So I guess that's me dropping windows phone, shall go back to android, bloomin ridiculous
You could always try the Zune help line they do activations aswell had to speak to them the other day about my HD7 but they did take my IMEI number. Maybe worth a shot?
+44 (20) 3450-5855
Just tried the UK microsoft line again, now I have tried 5 times with five different people, THEY ARE NO LONGER SUPPLYING ACTIVATION CODES
Also tried the Zune, blimey they take a long time to get through, anyway, they are not allowed to give out activation codes
SO PLEASE developers, what are the options here ?
This is really annoying as I actually rather like windows phone amazingly
ive tried twice with two different names and makes of phones to two different people and they told me to phone the handset maker for the activation code.
The bad thing is theres a few people who got a code the other day but have gone back to android so there codes are not being used. PM me if thats you!
How can you use someone else's code ?
IF YOU CAN PLEASE SEND ME ONE IF YOU DONT LIKE WP7
it would be good to know what HTC actually say in regards to activation codes as i thought its would be a Microsoft thing.
The whole activation code system imo is absolutely pathetic. Its locking your phone down just like the iPhone does.....

This is kind of the point! Each WP7 'authentic' device has a certificate on it to make it 'authentic', if a device is not manufactured with WP7 on it as standard or is distributed by an OEM before the certs are registered with MS then there is no certificate for it....which is why it asks for activation...quite simple really.
I got my code this morning from the US activations number. A very friendly girl called Rachael took my name, Windows Live ID my *FAKE* IMEI number, mobile number, postcode and country details and 15 mins later I had a code.
In my case the code only works if you do the registry changing prior to activation but have had no issued at all so far and am quite liking the new lease of life my HD2 has now, will be great to dual boot with Android.
i got mine through persistence, it makes this phone way better!

I phoned this morning and got through straight away and the guy gave me an activation code straight away (I quoted this if it helps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2431699)
The number I used 0844 800 2400 and selected option 2 then option 7.

I phoned Microsoft this morning (17th) and the person said right away to contact my service provider because there not giving out codes, phones back at 11:00am another took my name, email address and mobile number, minutes later he said to contact service provider, I phoned o2 and they said they know nothing of this, he even checked the web for me and said he had no idea other than to call Microsoft, so I phoned them back at 11:30 and person took name, email and phone number, asked if it was the hd7 and I said yes, minutes later a got a activation code, I put it in using cap locks and didn't work so tried lowercase and it worked fine, don't listen to Microsoft if they say no or tell you to phone HTC or your service provider, there talking crap
Hope this helps all Uk users
I just told them that ive tried speaking to htc and o2 and they were saying it was down to microsoft so the guy on the phone said ok and gave it me via an email.
you can get codes by phone and Email
This morning i thought that there was no chance of getting my HD2/7 working with Live but I emailed asking a for an activation code via Microsoft support any way
I didn't think this would happen so I followed BrannanD's instructions and called MS quoting the support webpage etc
The operator asked for phone no and an email address and then told me my activation code and it is all working fine.
As soon as my phone had activated and had installed its hotmail app, I received an email reply from MS for the activation code i asked for online this morning.
Try everything IT WILL WORK!!

Hi what was the URL / email address you used?
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO, after my lucky number 7 attempt, I got a bit shirty and said, I have been back and forth from HTC to o2 back you...
Now my phone is activated, let the good times roll, thanks for your help people
Yes it pays to keep on at them! Lucky enough I have not had any problems with the UK, and Just got my second set emailed too.
Russ
I have actually rang up Microsoft now 5 times and got my activation code from the first call with no problems at all. Trouble is when I enter the activation code it comes back with this message:
Problems with server
We are really sorry, but we've run into a problem, and we are not sure what caused it. This might be a tempory issue that will be fixed if you try again later, but if you keep seeing this error and want to call support, here's an error code that ight help them figure out the problem: error code 0xFFFFFFEC.
I figured I would give Microsoft another call and now they are saying there is a problem with my phone and to contact HTC.
I called on this mobile friendly number which I got from www.saynoto0870.com, 01954 713950.
Recently ive been in contact with google in an attempt to have them redirect my package since i wouldnt be home on the day they intended for it to arrive. Google told me that the advantage of buying from google is better support compared to from a local store, even though the local store offers extended warranty and instant swapover for dead devices. So i told them that i would need the package redirected to a different shipping location if i was to receive it.
called google 2 weeks ago about redirecting package
'im sorry, you have to wait until after the package has been shipped before it can be redirected'
called google last week
'im sorry, even though it says Google Singapore and 2 day shipping on your invoice, it will be shipped from Google USA and it will be via 5 day shipping'
I then receive the tracking number, and find out that its been shipped from Hong Kong... so i ask google why it is being shipped from there and if i can have it redirected to a different location
'im sorry, you have to contact fedex about redirecting package'
calls fedex
'im sorry, google told us that they wish to have exclusive control over redirections'
calls google again
'im sorry, i dont have the authority. let me find someone who does'
on hold for an hour
'im sorry, i'll call fedex and try'
on hold for half an hour
'im sorry, apparently i need to call our distribution center over in Hong Kong to have them redirect the package'
20 minutes later
'im sorry, i wasnt able to get them to do anything because i dont speak chinese. thank you for your call.'
WHAT THE HELL GOOGLE? you'd think they would be a bit more organised than this...
/end rant
Anyway, does anyone know of any other way i can get them to redirect the package via fedex? its scheduled for delivery to my home address on friday, but i'll be at work friday, monday and tuesday, which means i will miss all redelivery attempts and i dont have time to go to their shipping center for a pickup since theyre open during my work hours...
You can probably request the delivery time or delivery on a holiday by calling the local delivery hub/centre ?
