My wife's gsiii is having an intermittent call volume issue. Sometimes when someone calls her or she calls someone the person on the other line can BARELY hear what she is saying. My gsiii doesn't have this problem. Has anyone heard of this and can it be fixed or should I take it back to get an exchange? We got them 3 days ago.
I haven't had that issue myself either. Actually, only when I hold the phone with my left hand and pinky on the bottom covering the mic. Take a look on how she's holding it. If it's not that, take it back and swap it out. AT&T exchange or return is 30 days and I believe Verizon and T-Mobile is 14 days. I'm not too sure about Sprint.
SGS3 awaiting some dev love
I'm having the same problem, but only with the built in mic. It's always fine with a headset. I haven't yet looked into it past that, though.

I think she is covering mic.

I've noticed that I'll hear a weird vibration noise if I increase the volume over a certain amount in call. I fixed it at some point by inserting and removing the headset but it returned once I changed the volume again. Has anyone else experienced this? This is on the normal speaker not the back one for speaker phone.
Mine has always done it. Kind of sounds like a slightly blown speaker. Honestly it only does it when I turn it up louder than I would want it anyway so it doesn't bother me.
When I first got mine, it vibrated badly when the volume was anywhere over the minimum. I returned it for a new one and this current one hasn't done it once. I have read many reports about this issue all over the interwebs...there must have been a batch or two that is stricken with this issue.
Thanks, I was hoping it was a software problem but it seems it definitely is a hardware defect. I'm in the process of ordering a replacement.
I don't experience the "popping" noise when I'm on a call. Only when I've left it on the charger for awhile. I'm not not sure what exactly causes it but it's quite annoying. If I take it off the charger and let it cool off, it's fine. Not sure what the deal with that is..
It seems my replacement phone has the same issue. Did I just get unlucky or is this a problem with all Epics?
Mine does the same thing. You are talking about the earpiece, right? Sounds like theres a hair stuck in it buzzing when you are talking to someone. It's definitely something screwy with the speaker itself.

Happens on mine, too.

I was already debating taking my Galaxy S2 back because of the pink/yellow tinge camera issue. Now I've discovered a new issue. The earpiece is continually buzzing during phone calls. This is worse if the volume is turned up to maximum. I've had many phones down the years, but this is the first that I've experienced earpiece buzzing.
Has anyone else experienced this, or is this just a one off bad phone?
Thanks
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks

Nope, not at all. No yellow tint. Only batterylife which is not Samsung's fault. Guess I'm lucky.

Thanks for the reply.
I've had many phones down the years, but never experienced earpiece "buzzing" before. It's really annoying! I did a search on the web and it seems to be a very common experience with all makes of mobiles. I suppose you can just get a slight duff one!
I contact the T-Mobile UK Support Twitter page about returning it (it's just under 2 weeks old) and they said I had to send it away to get repaired. That's bull**** surely. I though you had 28 days from new to get a handset swapped????? Isn't that UK law.
I get the impression on the net that sometimes stores lie about this so they don't have to give you a new handset.
Anyone clarify this?
Thanks
I'm having the same problem. Went to the service centre, the technician insists that this is normal as long as the speaker is not blown. Sucks lol.
I guess I'll live with it for awhile until I can't take it any longer then I'll have them replace the ear speaker.
Sometimes I get this buzzing noise via Bluetooth headphones only when I'm on a telephone call. But it rare.

redbullman, did you manage to fix it?
ok I got back my phone (SGS2 international version) from Samsung Service Centre, after a second persuasion they changed the front panel (whole LCD including the front speaker, not sure if the back speaker too, I don't know the structure of the phone).
And now, it's solved!! NO MORE BUZZING when making/receiving calls!
Definitely go ask for an exchange or a change of your panel guys! It's a HARDWARE ISSUE.
As the title says, there's a constant static. Will changing earphones help? Or it a problem with phone itself like review sites say? Is there any solution because this static makes conversation impossible which pretty much defeats the purpose of the phone. If I get RMA will others phones also have this defect?

Also noticed that static goes away when I cover the speaker with something.

I have static in my earpiece with the default in call volume (which is all the way up). When I turn the volume down some I don't have it and the volume is still plenty loud. I'm not sure if it's the same noise your having.
Not sure if problem is same as yours. Noise is kinda like static which you hear in electrical interference. Something like the sound you hear from PC speaker when your phone is near it and you get a call or SMS that time. That kind of sound constant goes up and sometimes down randomly but its almost there all the time while using earpiece only, not without it. Funny thing is when I cover up the back side speaker with my hand that static goes away. Its really strange I don't know what's going on. Never had anything so irritating and unbearable on my previous galaxy s2

Known nexus 4 issue. If it's not loud enough, I recommend you to just keep it and ignore it. If it's really loud, try RMA. Mine also buzzes but I just ignore it. People think that it is due to poor shielding or something

I have the same problem. I will be asking for a replacement, because if people just accept it, it will never get fixed. This is a defect.
This is an old issue. One of the first since the N4 came out. I have always wondered if it is a noise cancellation feature gone bad. Like the buzzing wasn't meant to be so loud, but for one reason or another just got a little stronger than what it was supposed to be.

I think I agree with others that its a hardware issue because when I keep my hand on speaker the problem goes away. Plus I talked to a couple of people who said they had their phones replaced up to 3 times!! And still ended up with a defective piece. Very bad on googles part, I would have been happier to pay more but at least get a reliable device in return. I had my phone imported so RMA will be hell for me and even after that there is no guarantee. Just sad on googles part, just sad.

Anyone else experiencing this issue? I'll be on the phone chit chattin away with no issues, then usually anywhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes my phones mic will cut out, I can hear them fine on my end but they cannot hear me at all. If I end the call then call them back they can once again hear me. This was happening before any mods. Figuring that it could be a ROM issue I Odin back to stock but MDC since I had upgraded to MDL then did some tinkering to touchwiz, shabbys kernel and some theming and I still get the problem. I am assuming at this point its a hardware issue but I wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem at all.
Thanks
Edit: forgot some info. I have a sprint s4 full bars in location, happens just about anywhere, WiFi disabled, 3g area only here in phx
Happening on my wife's stock gs4 but not my stock rooted gs4. She is also having some heat issues. Screen/battery getting hotter than normal since day one.
Going to store tomorrow. Fun fun...

Yeah I'm going to restore mine right now and take it in. Its makes me a little mad knowing this is already happening and I haven't even had it a week. All will be well if they fix it.
I've returned two phones because of this issue, now I'm thinking it's just a hardware bug.
Don't use voice enough to switch to a different one, although it's very annoying.
Yeah I was going to return it but I have been testing the theory that i have been covering the mic hole. If you cover it at all so one will hear you. So far I haven't really had a problem but I don't talk on the phone that much
I've experienced the same thing
I just got my S4 on Sunday, and today it did the exact same thing. Not sure if its just typical Sprint problems, or actually an issue with the phone. Have you experienced more issues?
For me it happened twice in one call, once for like 10 seconds, then again and the other caller just hung up because they couldn't hear me.
Trying to decide if this is a QC issue, or just a one off problem.
I really haven't had any further issues. I know that some of my cause was them repairing a tower. Its only happening when I over the mic hole from what I am seeing. I guess time will only tell if it is a true hardware issue
Hi fellass. I will be sending my Nexy to LG to repair the earpiece (constant buzzing).
They said it takes 10 days for the whole process. Hope they fix it or send me a new phone.
Anyone has any experience with LG's repair policy?
May I ask how loud is the buzzing? I just got a nexus and I can hear the buzzing sound only when I get too close to the earpiece
The room has to be quiet + phone next to ear. It is obvious when making Viber calls or Skype sometimes.
Starting to doubt my decision to send it since so many have it (using repaired/replaced phones).
Other than that the phone is fine (301K here).
I'd be curious to hear some RMA experiences as well. It's looking more and more like my battery or USB port is busted so I'll probably be sending it soon. I'm wondering how long I'll be phoneless.

303k here, with the new modification (nubs), still have the rattle sound.
also I must state im on the latest HW revision (11)
im interested into why you aren't just going to google for a RMA on the buzzing noise? I sent mine to LG to get fixed because the screen had cracked it took them about two weeks to recieve/fix/and send my phone back. and on the sheet they sent with my phone they said they sent me a replacement phone but when i called a lady about it because the new screen they put on it had a yellow blob in the middle she insisted that they just fixed mine (which makes no sense because the bezzle has new dents and not the ones my original nexus had) and want me to send it back into them so they can fix it again. . i don't got time like that tho i would legitly fail my summester classes without the calendar on my nexus
