hello dear xda members,
I noticed strange thing - when headphones are plugged, my phone goes automatically in to download mode when I turn it on. Is it normal? Maybe i discovered something new ;-) I have to say that i'm using a AKG K317.

Hi guys, just wondering if there is any possible to shut down the phone function (incoming/outgoing), while keeping bluetooth on.
At this moment, the only way is the put it in "Flight Mode". Reason being, if I am using a bluetooth headphone in flight, I won't be able to utilize my bluetooth function. This happens to me (the phone ring), when I was about to land without switching my phone off, while listening to music with bluetooth headphone.
Do let me know if you have widget or ways to shut the phone down without activating flight mode. Thanks.

The 'no sim' icon is annoying, and I have to believe that the phone is sucking power...

Hi there XDA!
I've been searching and searching to try to find a fix for these issues, without luck. So in my desperation i turn to you.
First issue:
When I call or receive a call, I can hear my own voice and my own sounds without any issues. However - the person calling or being called can't hear anything from my end.
Microphone loops back to front-speaker?
SOLVED!
No idea how the issue was solved, but somehow it now works as per usual
Second issue:
Back speaker doesn't work. Considering headset and bluetooth headset works, I've been thinking that considering its a mechanical function that registers if a headset is plugged in, this is stuck.
Could it be any other issues?

Sounds to me like you need to send it back for repair
For some reason the "loopback"-issue sorted itself out. No idea what I actually did, but somehow it now works

Yup, been thinking about it. Just wanted to see if anyone else have had similar back/loud-speaker issues.
I have the same problem with my omnia 7. About two days ago, I completely lost the ring, alarm, message, game sounds. If I plug in a headset, the sounds are there.
And just today I experienced the microphone loopback issue the first time. I turn of the phone, remove the battery for a minute, insert it back and turn on the phone. The loopback issue was gone. May be it would have gone by itself if I waited but I was pissed of because the phone already lost all other sounds.
I was in and out of meetings and plane flights the day before I recognize the sounds are lost. So I switched the airplane mode on and of couple times, and switch between ring and vibrate numerous times. I wonder if that could have triggerred this problem.
I wonder if a hard reset or poking the headphone slot could resolve this problem.
So i have no solution yet, and hope someone will come up with a solution.
Thanks
Problem Solved
I was playing with some diagnostic codes from a website I found on the internet, I noticed there is a "Melody Test\Test External and Internal Speaker" which you can access by typing *#0289# while inside the diagnostic mode. While inside this melody test application I pressed the option 1. Speaker [L-R] ON and option 2. Receiver ON. I dont know which option did it but suddenly a ring tone started coming from the speaker.
I closed the diagnostic app and return to the main menu and now my ringtones, game sounds start working. Hopefully this will be a real solution not a temporary one.
Note:if it not listed in the app list, to get in to the diagnostic mode press ##634# from the phone pad.
Also note: I tried to post the link of the page which contains all the diagnostic codes of omnia but the xda forum would not allow me to post a link outside because I am a new user. The page i found was on wp7forum website

Good suggestion! Although, from what I can hear, that re-routes all music and such to the front speaker ("ear piece")?
I guess you are right. And also after a soft reset the sounds are gone again. Bummer

Update! Now it is working
Hi all,
For the last couple of days I have been searching and reading eveything I could find. And today I messed around with the sound diagnostics tool, plugged in and out a headphone jack probably hundred times but nothing worked. So I gave up. But i forgat to turn off the Music that was playing on the background while i was messing with the phone so that if it started working i would know.
My phone was in my pants pocket, and while i was hanging my pants, the phone slipped and fell on the carpet. And suddenly a loud music started playing. The music i set to play before. And now everything is working fine, all sounds. Even after soft reset.
So maybe it was the stuck headphone slot after all, i dont know.
But now i am afraid the sounds will go again if i drop it again.
Had the same problem... wife said no ringtone. Due to the poor positioning of the power button and volume rocker on opposite sides of the phone, she had gradually turned the volume down, one point by one.
Think simple faults first!

I really wish my problem was that simple. There is something wrong with my back speaker. Some loose connection I guess.
Every now and then I realize the ring tones (and other sounds) are not working. And when I tap around where the back speaker is (back of the phone, top right) strongly with my fingertip several times, the sound is back again. Everyday I have this loop at least 10 times.

Is someone else also facing this issue?
New Nexus 4 Silent mode issue
Hi,
Even I got a brand new Nexus 4 very recently as a birthday gift from my sister who stays in USA. I stay in India and even I am facing the same issue.
PROBLEM: The phone automatically toggles between ringer and silent mode when making calls.
Say if I've put the phone in silent mode, on making a call it will go to ringer mode and if im on ringer mode, making a call will get me to silent mode.
PS: Did you find any solution? It really gets annoying during meetings as you said.
Also if i reboot the phone this issue gets fixed for some time but again it starts happening.
I have already done a full factory reset twice. Nothing seems to be working for me. I know it's a software bug but it's a new device.
Any solutions??? Plss... Or did your problem get resolved? How if it did...
Sadly No solution to this problem.. But now a days trend has reversed fro me .. if i have it in vibrator mode and change it to ringer it chnages back to vibrator on its own.. this is frustating
Facing the same man... It's not a new problem... we are facing the same issue...
As I mentioned... if its on ringer it goes to vibrate and if its on vibrate it goes to ringer... But if you reboot it gets fine for some time.... then starts happening again...
Let me know if you find a solution. Otherwise have you experienced any screen Freezing during Incoming calls (Unable to pick up) and all? I'm facing that too...
what about: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2248866
Avg is the culprit according to that forum but.. I need to test it out.. tahnks anyways
AVG SUCKS! - It's the reason for all this chaos
AVG is the cause... Thanks a lot. It never occured to me that what was installed to protect my phone was the reason to corrupt its software.
Uninstalled it and now its perfectly fine. Love my Nexus 4.
Hey guys this thing thats been happening to me is absulotely mind boggling and if anyone can resolve this it would be greatly appreciated. it bugs me like theres no tomorrow.
so heres the issue.
i have a samsung galaxy s4 with all the latest updates provided Android Version 4.2.2
when im travelling along in the car or even randomly seated i would receive a call or even make a call and place my phone on loudspeaker now the funny thing here is that the phone after maybe 10-20 seconds will automatically switch back to normal speaker and it annoys me so i have to put it back on loudspeaker mode
ive had the occasional scene where it still showed that loudspeaker was activated but the caller was coming through the normal speaker so it forces me to tap loudspeaker to de-activate it and then tap it again to activate only to realise not long after it automatically switched back to the normal speaker all over again.
NOTE: the phone is laying flat on my lap or standing infront of me.
has anyone had this issue before and is there some sort of fix for it
PLEASE HELPPP !!!

Two thinks u can try if u have had a OTA update and that time if u did not do reset do it now hopefully all issues will be sorted out
2nd try to enable / disable driving mode as and when u use or not in use
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda premium
So I definitely checked to see if driving mode was on or not and I tried it still same issue so my next question how do I do the ota update what necessary
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
So I have found that the only way I can get the loudspeaker to stay on is too keep the screen on after a few fiddling here in there I need to know how to force screen on when it on loudspeaker

I connect my phone to my deck via bluetooth for music. When the car is off and I walk away, every time I get or make a call the phone interface is still on the bluetooth car mode. This means that its automatically on speaker phone and the screen does not turn off when you put the phone to your ear. For the love of god I have no idea why anyone thinks its a good idea to have annoying features like this that seem impossible to turn off (car mode cannot be "turned off" like other stock apps) and then prevent us from getting root to get rid of this crap.
I would like some help on this though. How to keep bluetooth on and not have it automatically go into a car mode phone interface. Thanks.
I still haven't figured out what this is after about a 35 minute round of google searches. The screen I'm seeing is one with huge buttons that are comprised of "end call" bluetooth" and "speaker". Can't bring up number pad either. I can SS if needed.
This is what the screens look like. This isn't the normal S5 calling screens, right? Still trying to figure this out.
Started happening to me. I turned on car mode, went to settings, unchecked to automatically start when connected to Bluetooth, and turned car mode off. Solved the problem for me.
