I have tried Ice Cream Sensewich and now I am on Andromadus since there are times I need the camera. But Sense 4.0 is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Gotta love those sounds, that car mode, that feel...everything!
Still, until most of the quriks are solved I won't be using it as a DD.
But, the question I want to ask is - does the 4.0 Rosie support landscape? I remember seeing something along those lines at the HTC One launch event, but I couldn't get rosie to rotate for the life of me.
A landscape homescreen comes in very handy when using the keyboard/docked in stopped car.

i think theres no sense 4.0 landscape rosie in the stock sense 4.0, only in custom roms, or only when u connect it to htc media link thing
One S and X have it, V doesn't. We should get it soon when resized

My buddy has this phone and wants these toggles on the drop down menu like in the pic attached. He is running stock ROM rooted.
I think a good place to start would be... where did you get the pic?
I have this installed on my phone (hd2) desire hd ROM. I took this screenshot.
He can a) install a widget that has notification options, b) install a custom ROM that has it included, or c) ok there were only two options that I know of.

Sense 2.1 offers that functionality, but in a slightly different UI arrangement. Check RoyalMint or the Desire S port.

I don't know that for sure...just giving you options.
Here's what Sense 2.1 looks like:
any ROM that has notification toggles does so with the same properties as a widget. There are several in the market that would give you that functionality without changing roms.
Cm7 has it. Not same icon styles but it has it.

Widetsoid (in the market) has this functionality...not the same icons though I don't think...

Mine look like this. I'm running cm7.

I have cm7 too, but those icons are sure nice on the Sense 2.1 (if thats the kinda thing that gets you off).
To be honest, Sense wasn't too bad. I might switch to a Sense Rom from CM7. Especially when you read that Sense works more efficiently on HTC phones (despite the large size).

Hi all,
I am stucked by choices.. I love the AOSP ICS rosie UI and features.. but I can't live w/o sense apps and especially HTC Sync. Is there anyway we can have ICS rosie with HTC apps like premium navigation, messages, blah blah and importantly HTC sync ???

AOSP! Speed and efficiency!
It's speed and efficiency, over looks.
I've tried them all, but i always go back to Sense 3.5. (Waiting for stable for daily use 4.0.3 with Sense 3.6)
Well.. I was just wondering if we can have all.. aosp sounds fun but HTC have many widgets and HTC sync to provide the convenience that I need.
Will uninstalling HTC sense do the trick or cause the Rom to Fc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
It's all driven by personal choice.
I installed an AOSP ICS rom and I loved it, but ultimately, for me the experience was lacking without Sense. So I dropped back down to GB with Sense 3.5.
I'm waiting for a stable ICS release with Sense, will upgrade then
Well, that's why I'm asking if there is any way to combine both..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I am also a huge fan of Sense. But i'm on IceColdSandwich and really love it for daily use. When there will be a working sense ICS ROM i will switch, but for now i'm going with the AOSP one. You can customize it so that it at least looks like a sense rom
do what I do...keep back up of another rom so if you get twitchy you can flip back etc..actually I have three at the moment .runny 4.0...this is my daily I use this more because of sense...ics just because its smooth and...sweet. and now got absolution.I'm not a gamer so save data etc doesn't matter to me..SMS can be retrieved if needed.contacts are on both so..my 10p worth

Anyone else find battery life is poorer on sense roms, or is that just me? I'm currently using IceColdSandwich, really nice rom.
Well, an AOSP uses tons less space and ram, so i would imagine the battery life would be immense on that.
I flashed Virtuous Quattro and that used hardly any space in the system partition, where sense Roms use almost all of the space.
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough.. what I'm trying to find out here is if there is any sense Rom that is possible to be customised to look like ics without losing the advantages of some sense apps and HTC sync. I'm not into switching roms as I prefer to have one to work as my daily driver.
I know of coz ics Rom can be customised to be as close to sense but without sense kernel, there will still be missing HTC sync and some sense apps.

I've been a sense guy too for a long time but I've recently been following lord's ice cold sandwich rom and I love it more than any sense rom out there.
The great thing would be a rom AOSP
with synchronization, camera and widgets (Sense)
Greetings!
Aosp. I always had sense. But I'm on LC s ics and its great. No more sense for me.

well yeah...launchers..adw have ics themes,launcherpro..golauncher ex has a sweet ics theme, all it does it change your dock etc and app draw, but lets you slide horizontal so thats good anyway...thats the only way your going to look like ics without losing sense, failing that, use the ics theme on a sense rom

Ok I will put it to you simple. The only way to have sense apps is to use Sense. Non of the widgets work without the launcher being used. All of the apps can be replaced with AOSP versions. Not sure about the navagation as I would never use a phone to tell me where i need to go. Sync seems to be a big deal for you and not sure why. There are far better option out there.
So simply if you want to use HTC apps then you will use Sense.
yeah but depends if he wants the widgets..the apps themselves can still work, your not wrong though, the asop is quicker, battery lasts longer.can customize more,..sadly although i have them on my back ups,im a sense rom junkie, gets on my nerves to be honest. im hoping, with sense 4..they up there game now, sense 3.6 is..just with a few added bits not really an overhaul and its debateable whether because its running ice cream in the background if it will actually make a difference
forgot to say, although you can replace all apps from sense with others in asop. The mail app still in my opinion is one of the leaders for that sort of app. If someone could port that out of a sense rom id be chuffed lol

360 degree? Are you talking of panorama? My EVO 4g does panorama. My 3devo doesn't. At least not now with ICS installed.

Im assuming your talking about the carousel effect, in order to have that you need flash a sense 3.0 or a sense 3.5 Rom
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
Don't think it can be done
It seems the only way to get something specifically ripped from a newer device is to use a full ROM built from that device's software. Individual pieces, such as camera or visual features, are difficult (if not impossible) to rip by themselves, since the details are unique to each piece of hardware, even within a specific manufacturer. If it was that simple, I'm sure we'd have a front-facing camera on the ICS ROMs by now
Seriously though, I'm certain it can't be done, at least, not easily.

I'm using Sense 2.1 on my Evo 4g. It has the 360 Panorama effect. It's either the Synergy_signed_070411_161953.zip or Senergy-R2-supersonic.zip. I can't remember which. But it has the "360 deg" mode.
The Sense "carousel" isn't a camera effect.

I think he may have misunderstood what TC was talking about. When he mentioned "any app with a 360° effect", it seemed like he was talking about the "carousel" (360, carousel...you know?) effect on the homescreen.
But I'm certain, as you are, that he meant Panorama. Sense 2.1 incorporated Panorama into its camera app framework, and most ROMs based off of 2.1 and above have it, including the ICS ROMs since that's a standard feature of the default ICS camera.
Anyone have the apk for the 360 camera; I have the panarama apk already installed?
I wanted to see if I could get the ideal combination of Sense 2 and 3 by having Sense 3 apps but Sense 2.1 launcher, so I'm trying to get a lower auto brightness mod with Sense 3 lockscreen and weather, the Revolution HD theme, and possibly with a mod to disable scroll cache.
Does anyone know whether I should be using the classic or sense 3 version, and does anyone know where the sense 3 mods for ARHD 5.x.x are?

You'd be wrong, because I was definitely able to get GB 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1's launcher and the Sense 3 camera, keyboard, lockscreen, weather, and task manager. I have a feeling that with that combo and disabling Dalvik scroll cache would produce the smoothest Sense ROM for our phones.
If HTC released ICS for our phones with all the current Sense 3.6 features but with all 3D effects removed, I would definitely give that a shot too. Even though Sense 3 with ultra smooth rosie is fantastic, it still takes up too much RAM and there are still the 3D carousel effects.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure if you could use older frameworks with newer versions of sense. Cleared that up for me, thanks
It'd be nice to see HTC release pics with something like sense 3.6 (sense 4 would be amazing imo)
My GF's desire c (with a slower processor and tiny screen) gets ICS and sense 4 yet we don't?!

It's not really Sense 4, it's the 2D cut down version that resembles Sense 2.1 in function.
