Apple too.
google normally does software though so im not so sure they would build a console anytime soon. some of the only hardware they "built" was the nexus one and that failed commercially.
Failed EPICALLY! I'm dropping my Evo for a winmo7 phone BUT only when the phone has a healthy amount of android roms on it like the hd2. I have the hd2 and surpisingly enough, NO sense rom (i've tried every single sense 2.2 rom for the evo on this site) runs as SMOOTHLY and as quickly as on the hd 2.
To get the speed of my hd 2 on my evo, I have to flash CM6. Kinda sad
now that i think though, anybody can throw together the hardware of a computer, its just a computer really. im not sure if we need another console though.

ive used windows mobile, with windows 7 being a newer verison, with no major changes esp the look, will be just like all windows mobile softwares, a epic fair, freezing and lagging.
I honestly don't see what Microsoft is trying to accomplish with windo 7 phones... What's the purpose of playing xbox 360 games on a cell phone?
Is it me, or does it make absolutely no sense... cell phone gaming is supposed to be casual and just a "spare time" kind of thing, not hardcore call of duty stuff...
If they really wanted to enter the cell phone scheme, then they are much better off teaming up with android or ios and working out some sort of collaboration, because in all honesty android and ios pretty much have it on lock. Their just isn't much room for another... Or they could have made a hand held like the PSP...
I will bite my tongue if windo 7 phones prove to be successful and if somehow Microsoft miraculously manages to get the phones battery to run even half a day....
Just my 2 cents. Please don't start bashing. I have been keeping up with windo 7 phones since they were announced a little over a year ago and I just wanted to get how stupid I think it was out of my system.......
But who knows, this time next year chances are that I might be playing Call of Duty: ModernWarefare blackops II while taking a sht on the toilet...

If WM7 is as stable as Android, and has groundbreaking features id consider using it, but I have a feeling its just going to be a polished 6.5. I would like to see a WM7 port to the EVO just so I could try it out before I purchase a phone and be stuck with it for the next 4-6 months.
Also gaming phones didn't seem to make it in the past, like the N-guage and there was another phone I saw that had a ATI chip in it, but never went mainstream.

Windows Phone has a lot more going for it than just gaming.
First of all, gaming is definitely big. As a iPhone user I can see this. I don't even game much, but its hard to ignore the fact that the iPhone is slowly over taking mobile gaming share. MS with Xbox Live integration has a even better oppurtunity here.
Second, MS/WP 7 has the Zune software. Android sucks when it comes to media playback, so does blackberry, and even though I haven't used WebOS much, I'm lumping it in this sub par group as well. The iPhone/iPod is pretty much in another league, and the Zune software is as good or better than it.
Third, WP 7 has real and pretty good Office intergration. Might not be a big deal to you but it'll be big with business users. I don't have to deal with it much anymore but early on in my business I had a WM phone and I used excel all the time.
There's still a lot that needs to be improved but in a pool of similar OSs (Android/iOS/WebOS/Blackberry), WP feels different enough and offers enough for it to gain traction and serve a purpose.

Since the latest Palm phones were announced, I've been wondering if I should switch to a palm phone. I've always loved how WebOS worked. I would have probably gotten a WebOS phone had there been a Palm phone with the Evo internals.
And out of curiosity I checked Sprint to see if the palm pad was listed, unsurprisingly, it wasn't. What did surprise me was that the Palm Pre was NOT listed anymore.
I like web os but iys like the red heades step child of phone platforms. Not to much dev support like for android phones and i got frustrated with the lack of apps in the store. Though it is amazing platform jus not getting recognition but who know maybe hp can change all that we will see

It was definitely cool to mess around with.. but like jesz said... not a lot of support.
I also had a ton of issues with it... exchanging for faulty hardware (headphone jack) to getting software updates that fixed some issues but broke other things.. it was a mess.
Hopefully HP does really well... competition is never a bad thing.
If HP released the Pre 3 right now I would probably get it. I found it my Pre to be the most amazing device I've used so far, I think I was one of the few to have a good build. I could care less about dev support because really I only used a core of 15 apps or so and thats all I use for Android. I love my Evo dearly but if Sprint doesn't announce a successor...
Yeahh thats another issue i had i had my pre for like Ill say 7 months and i had gone

Agreed. The webOS interface and the way it handles multitasking is just perfect. The patches available from the webOS Internals team were amazing and a breeze to use.
If only it had better hardware, I wouldn't look back to Android ever again. At least we can dream.

So I'm a huge android nerd, and I really want a tablet. The problem I'm having is which one do I get. Here are some pros and cons I have for the ones that have been announced.
Xoom - While Motorola has impressed me with their quality and support for android phones, I feel, and correct me if I'm wrong, that the Xoom was released too early because Motorola was rushing to be the first. It has a lot of bugs and I'm not sure if it's worth taking the risk that they will support the device, or if I should wait for a second generation.
The LG slate - The specs are comparable to the Xoom and hopefully the extra time they are taking to release means there will be less bugs. I don't know much about LG as fast as android is concerned, but I am excited about the G2X phone coming out.
The Samsung Galaxy tab - I have a galaxy s phone, so that should tell you I have little faith in their ability to support their devices. I don't fault them for the original tab because they were the first and it was before dual core became the thing and before hummingbird was released. It sucks they can't or won't update the original tab, but I wouldn't let that stop me from buying this one if it is really good. Again, my only issue with Samsung is that they continuously try to convince me they will support their devices and continuously let me down. Great displays, though.
HTC Scribe - Looks awesome, but single core? That wouldn't bother me much, but if they start releasing games and apps specific for dual core devices then anyone with that device is screwed.
Sho what do you think? Any input from Xoom users or anyone in general is appreciated.
Check out the Viewsonic Gtablet. Awesome specs, pretty much "unbrickable", easily customizable (perfect for android nerd), and best of all it's about 1/3 the price of the xoom, et al.
I have the xoom, iPad, and the Gtablet, and while my go to tablet is the xoom, I still can't believe how the Gtablet performs, and fun to play with (screen is not best though).
I think that virtually everything that's "unfinished" about the Xoom is really about what's unfinished in Honeycomb. So, no other vendor is going to be ahead of Motorola in this regard. In fact, they're likely to be BEHIND the Xoom to the extent that they have customized UI's and/or software that they're adding to their devices.
The only exception to this is the 4G upgrade, but I don't know of any other tablet except the HTC on Sprint's that guaranteed so far of getting 4G at all. So, that shouldn't be counted against the Xoom.
Note that I'm not trying to defend the Xoom here, but rather to point out that other devices are likely to be just as "unfinished" as the Xoom until Google releases the first big Honeycomb update. For myself, I'm going to take a good hard look at the Asus, simply because the idea of having a keyboard dock with another 24Wh battery is really attractive to me.
Get the ipad 2, trust me. Then in a couple of months or a year android will be up and running "properly". If you want a tablet right now...jailbroken ipad 2. Done. Perfect.

Xoom user here and I say wait til LG and Samsung release their Tabs, play with all of them and then decide. As far as the Scribe is concerned they already make tablet specific games so with that your already screwed.

I also have GTab (that I'm willing to sell to anyone who wants it btw) and I have to say that customizing it is fun but using it is not. The screen is horrible and I mean really really bad, a disaster when you see it next to your phone or the xoom.

You really are barking up the wrong tree here. While the iPad 2 is great for my grandma and other non tech savvy people this is XDA DEVELOPERS and the iPad goes against everything we do here. Even with jailbreaking you will never get the full customization that you get with Android, never. Steve jobs thinks he knows best for his followers and always will. I even went and checked one out because it is more compatable with my colleges online learning center but I took one look at that horrid UI and just couldn't do it. Not to mention honeycomb is an actual tablet operating system, ios is the same OS as the iPhone just with some tablet friendly apps. Great for my gf and my mom but definitely not for someone like me who likes to tinker.

UPDATE: HTC made a clarification on their twitter acct. See this post for the txt, or go visit The Twitter Post -- thanks Bioxoxide for the heads up.
This shouldn't be shocking to anyone....... but:
From Engadget (link: http://engt.co/eX1niG )
"Unfortunate news for anyone who saw HTC's Sense 3.0 UI and started dreaming about seeing it on their Desire HD, Incredible S or any other handset that doesn't ship with it preloaded. HTC has said that because of the hardware requirements of the fancier new Android skin, only the dual-core Sensation 4G and EVO 3D smartphones and the 1.5GHz Flyer tablet will be benefiting from it for now."
Guess we will continue to have to rely on our Devs until they all jump ship like on the HeroC.

Just read this myself. It's actually a little upsetting, as I do like sense. Oh well =(
I can understand why they're doing this. Even though the Evo might be able to run it, if its laggy, casual users will be complaining like crazy. Then they'll run into a situation like Apple did when they stripped features for the iPhone 3g, but it was still almost unusable.

HTC
Clarification: aspects of the latest HTC Sense won’t work on some previous devices. We are working to incorporate other aspects that will.
This isn't a shocker for me...there will probably be some ported version of Sense 3.0 but I doubt it'll run well. I'm completely fine without it.
I see this as bad this just means that the new sense is probly big bulky and poorly coded or they are lying and its not hardwear and they just want sense 3.0 to be a feature of newer devices to make them more appealing... I saw nothing in any video preview that looked like it needed a dual core... and I see no reason why adreno 200 wouldn't handle the 3d carousel thing

HTC vivid
Galaxy nexus
IPhone 4
Etc....
But always found myself trading phones on craigslist or selling to get the latest and greatest! But when I finally found a xperia play on Cl I picked it up for cheap and I never been happier! Sure its not the latest or greatest but its not a COPYCAT! If they release another phone with a gamepad and get alot of Dev support that be the only way Ill have a new device. I'm looking to buy one in mint condition so I can get that one unlocked bootloader and let the flashing games begin!!!
Just see alot of people mad about ics not coming but to me it don't matter I'm stock att rom with v6 supercharger and I'm set!
Not saying I don't want ics in the future but no point getting butt hurt that's how life goes!!

I got HTC Vivid and use the phone part, email, calendar, text, map, read news, listen to radio and browse the net. I had other phones such as blackberries, HTC Inspire, HTC Titan (windows) Samsung note and based on my needs, this is the best phone I had so far. I do agree that the phone gets a bit warm while using the GPS. The Google map is awesome, the GPS has been improved. The voice recognition works well. I like the notes software that came with it so I can hand write notes on the go. The screen size is perfect, you can read and reply to quick emails much easier. I think HTC is working hard to appeal to the business users and provides Outlook syncing software which is critical. I couldn't believe that the windows phone did not sync with Outlook, MS is missing the boat.
Finally! An iPhone user who appreciates other phones rather than Apple products. Sir, you are a guy in a million!
And yes, XPlay is something innovative, cool and interesting. Soon (not sure when) an updated version of the phone (XPlay 2) will be out. I think it's ability to compete in the smartphone industry will be a lot higher then.

All they have said is its not coming soon. They want to concentrate on pushing the PlayStation certified side on other handsets (touchscreen)(tablets) to build the platform. People think xperia play is the only PlayStation phone but it's not and they want people to see there others. Plus play 2 will not come out till they have sold so much vitas as they won't put out a second new device to compete with there own products. Sony where happy with the play and it would be non business like not to consider it for the future

I have a Iphone 4 and the Xperia Play and love them both, people are allways complaining about the iPhone and Android, what I think is, if you want a phone just to make calls and msg's and play some games go with the iphone, ios is preaty and simple if you want to customize your phone and like to flash roms and mods go with Android. who have an iPhone have an iPhone, who have Android have Android! Stop saying that apple sucks, and the same goes to iPhone users! iOS and Android are both great OS's, they are just aimed for diferent things

Yea totally agree! But its more annoying hearing iPhone users saying android sucks and can't give you a good reason.

I'd love to see someone put Android onto the iPhone hardware. I was watching a youtube video earlier of a Samsung Omnia I900 (windows 6.5) running Android

I had an iPhone for 18 months. I loathe them with a burning passion

I've never had an iPhone.
I actually haven't ever had an Apple product.
Maybe I would have been an iOS app developer if Apple didn't force application developers to use a Mac and make them have to get an Apple AppStore account.
Anyway, I'm staying with Android.

Don't get me wrong, I hated the iPhone the whole time I had it. Wasn't a case of hating it after getting an Android. My first Android was the Galaxy Europa GT-I550 and it sucked hard. Sold it and got the X10mini which aside from the 4 Corners Home Launcher (which Im using on my Play) sucked as well. Then I got the Play which I love. All my emulators in one place
In retrospect though, both OSs have their strengths and weaknesses. iOS is always smooth but lacks the customisation of Android. Android has the customisation but can sometimes be prone to lag
Swings and roundabouts really
