I have an O2 XDA mini s as its so called, and an Orange Sim (both UK)
Now I can make/receive calls fine, but when I try to send a message, or goto the "phone" option, I get the message below. Nor do any contacts from my sim show up.
"The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again"
Does anyone have some advice to resolve this as its pretty annoying!
I did try a search and got no results, so please forgive me if this is a topic that has been given the run around before.
Regards
Sam
Sounds like the simcard is dirty try taking it out and inserting again happens on probs every1 phone sometime.
Another option would be to go back to your cell provider and request they give you another SIM card
sounds like you might not be getting a strong enough signal to use the phone...or send out messages...consider flashing your radio rom to something higher (do a search for radio rom). radio rom flashing usually won't effect the os or ipl/spl...so you can keep all your existing settings. newer radios have more information on towers...so it has a chance to get a better signal...or at least that's what i've been told...
2.19.11 is common for cingular...but there's a post somewhere on changing something that will let you use higher radios with cingular without too many problems...personally, i'm messing around with 2.69.11 (t-mobile) and i haven't had any problems...
Tried cleaning the sim card to no avail.
As with regards to the radio rom, im sure thats the issue as i can make phone calls fine, so im getting a signal. It just seems accessing the sim card and texting is the issue
Its bugging me because its an awesome phone. Im wondering if its due to it being a different network branded phone to the sim card im using...

if that's the case, you may need to sim unlock your phone? but if you're making and receiving calls, you should be fine...
if the sim card is old, or the service provider was taken over...or something of that sort, maybe your sim card has a problem...something like this was a problem back in the US when cingular bought out at&t...the problem was resolved by consumers going to cingular to get a 64kb sim card rather than a traditional 32kb...perhaps something of that sort is happening there?
I suppose that is a possibility,
I will try using the unlocking tool, but im not sure it would be the sim as it is only 2 months old. I just didnt like the phone i got with the contract so bought this.
I will certainly try. I kinda wish i'd just bought the Orange version of the phone
Oz
@Ozington. If you can make calls, chances are your phone is already unlocked. Did you bought this phone 2nd-hand? The previous users may have done something to it. Soft reset your system and tell us all your stuff (especially the Radio/GSM displayed) displayed on the first boot screen.
Alternatively, if you want to avoid all O2 crap, hardreset your phone and during init setup, soft reset it (poke it) just after you have done your security settings. If it is not using official ROM (e.g. no O2 stuff around to be seen), make a guess on the ROM used, and you can also try upgrading an official ROM (safe to do so).
Hanmin,
The phone was bought from ebay, but was brand new sealed, all in o2 packaging, the seller stated it was unlocked. It was all factory packed and the seal wasnt broken..
The Device info is as follows:
Rom Version 2.21.4.1 WWE
Radio 02.07.10
Protocol 413.1.03
ExtROM 2.21.4.101
Does this mean anything?
Regards
Sam
I'm doubtful that it is factory sealed and unlocked. From the information you gave (although not those I've asked for), seems that your phone ROM is a bit, old. Go to O2 webpage and download an update for the ROM (I'm not sure, but I think they have an updated ROM).
To check your ROM version, tell me the battery icon on Today screen, is it on the top left or bottom left. Top left battery icon means it is AKU2, the updated version.
To throw a spanner in the works the battery icon is in the top right?
Thanks for your help. What info did i miss out? (Please bear in mind i have no idea what im doing with the more technical side of the phone!)
Regards
Sam
I briefly had this problem as well. In my case, I could also receive text messages, but still could not send. I changed OS's and it was fixed. The problem only seemed to happen with one of the new OS6 roms. It was intermittent, and even resetting the phone seemed to solve the problem occasionally and briefly. I have flashed my device too many times, but think it was the most recent Touchflo version that had the problem for me. I was using radio 2.69 Ipl/Spl 3.08. I hope this might help. Good luck.
Orange SIM & Unlocked T-Mobile MDA Vario
Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to say that I have a similar problem with my new Orange SIM.
All the GPRS works fine, calls send & receive OK, POP3 email works a treat but no text messaging and when I try Start > Settings > Personal > Phone .. I get "The phone is not ready. Wait 15 Seconds and try again"
I have no answers to this but from all the searching I have done over the past few days to try and find a cure this problem seems to be common to Orange SIM cards. All I can think of is that the Call Centre Message Number needs changing to get the txt messaging to work.
The phone has worked fine on other networks - no GPRS but text messaging & phone calls
Any advice gratefully received !!
Hi guys first poster so be nice
I've got the same problem but came from T-Mobile to Orange.
My IPL / SPL is 1.03 so I'm going to upload the newer versions on the fourm to my phone and see what happens tommrow. Havn't got the time at the moment but I'll post up how I get on.
Do you guys think this is a good approch to the problem I've got?
Hi Sasyboy
You posted just after me. I got my phone working great on Orange now. It has taken me 3 days !!
You'll have to be careful on how you do it. I just jumped in and it caused me a lot of work and time. and a long period where I thought it was bricked 'cos the bootloader screen stayed on and I lost all comms with the MDA
First make sure the CID is unlocked, you must read this:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
I wish I had. This may seem a long way of doing it, but you don't want an expensive paperweight do you ??
After you have unlocked the CID and updated everything as per the Dr P stickie (link above) and it is working, you then need to get the Wizard_Love ROM upgrade. I tried after doing all the Mr P instructions in the stickie but still kept getting the "Phone is not ready...." so I decided I then needed the Wizard_Love ROM upgrade. This took me ages to find, I tried to d/load it via uTorrent but only got 25% and then found it on a Russian website - anyway I have it now, and as I said you'll need it, PM me and I'll get it to you.
You will have to download several files and set half a day aside. If you are struggling PM me and I'll get the files to you as I have them now.
I just need to get the Ornge MMS settings right and then all is fine. GPRS, POP3 email, Internet, Txt messaging OK now, SIM manager works fine (didn't even have it before!) and can access all phone settings for call divert etc
Good luck. Any queries I may be able to help, but I'm no expert. I have spent hours looking at this forum and all the answers are there it is just getting them in the right order.
How do all,
Really happy I updated everything and now it all works fine. Thanks to the community. I love this phone and now with updates it's even cooler.
Was given a SPV M700 with WM6 (Rom version 2.0.8.1), GPS and WiFi working great but not the phone - cannot get a connection and I have tried different working Sim cards! Do I reflash with a new WM6 rom (which is recommended?) or just with a Radio Rom (current version 1.46.00.11) . Oh, I have checked the IMEI and that is not blocked. I don't mind having a go at reflashing as I also have a workiing HTC P3600. Never done this work so any help appreciated.
M700 not working
I have flashed the "phone" with a new radio rom but still getting the message that it cannot register to any of my selected networks. Next step, I guess, is to try a completely new rom. Any one got any ideas why the "phone" is not registering? **Update** Have tried two different 6.1 roms this morning and still can't get the phone to register with any networks????
Replying to myself, I know.. Latest situation is that latest Radio rom and decent WM 6.1 rom installed. I have inserted a Virgin Sim Card from another working phone and it shows a UMTS T-Mobile UK connection and even the 3G icon. However, when I try to dial out, it immediatly drops the line and if I try calling the phone I get the message that "calls are not currebtly being connected to ths number". ****Any clues****
is the virgin sim new have you used it before ie is it active?
and the phone is not set to flight mode silly i know but my girl put my phone in flight mode and it took me a few hours trying to find out why i was not able to make a call but i only had the phone a few days and did nt knw it had a flight mode.
if its not some thing like that then not sure what else to look at sorry cant be more help
Did the phone ever work? You mention that you got it, did it work for that person?
what provider did he use?
Is it locked?
did you try to cid unlock it?
I've trawled the many numerous fora in these parts, but can't find any comprehensive answer to my woes.
Recently, I upgraded to a Nexus One. It's all well and good, and I want to sell my G1. I wiped it and reset it back to stock firmware using DREAIMG.NBH, and now all of my cyanogen madness has been swept away. The phone has stock recovery, stock SPL, stock radio and stock Android. All 1.0.
The problem is, no matter what SIM card I put in the G1, it refuses to get a 3G connection, even though it will get a regular GSM connection. Without this, I can't sign in to a Google account, and this means I can't use the phone at all, as early builds of Android didn't let you use wi-fi to sign in for the first time. I've tried an O2 SIM and a Vodafone SIM, both of which have unlimited internet on them. The latter is used in my shiny Nexus One.
Firstly, why won't it get a 3G signal? There's no way I can sell the thing in this state. Does it need a newer version of the radio or something?
Secondly, is there any way to update it to stock Donut 1.6 without rooting? I'd rather sell the phone in an unmodified state.
Oh, and I've already SIM unlocked it, so that isn't a concern.
I have basically the same problem, I just went back to Android 1.0 and I can't connect to my Google account. I have an AT&T SIM card, but it's unlocked and was working before I reformatted, but it still wont work. Can anybody help the both of us possibly?
As another FYI, it's a T-Mobile G1 from the UK, but if I can have it run generic Android without resorting to rooting (ie: easy to sell) that'd be great. Options, please!
hello friends, ask you about a strange problem.
i've bought a hd2 t mobile from USA ebayer, unlocked and with WINDOWS PHONE 7. I put my Italian SIM (vodafone italy) and notice that i can't use it. call seller and he wrote me unlock code. don't remember if after this i have tried to call, or if have seen the signal strenght, but i have changed to android. the seller used magldr 1.10, but i experienced that with this version the system had restart and restant such as looping mode. so i've found magldr 1.13, and this one permits to android to start.
Now everything runs well, except i can't call. the phone runs, because i can do emergency calls, and with another SIM, 3G italy, an UMTS provider, in some places i can use it normally. but is very poor signal, the most is absent. when i put inside Vodafone SIM i have no signal at all. Close to this i have italian LEgend HTC with Another Vodafone SIM and Full signal. if i ask to find network, even with vodafone, he finds only 3G.
If this problem come from bad unlocking, s there something to do to solve it? i though to try to unlock it againm but now it doesn't ask me for code. so what to do? lock it and unlock again? is possible?
another problem: with phone there is a 16 gb Sd card. i see only 200 mb, before i thought was damaged, but trying to reinstall wP7, i have read on a site that is WP7 that format 200 mb for working. now, how can i do to take back the entire 16 gb of space?

If I were you I'd flash back to the Stock TMOUS ROM and make sure the phone is mechanically sound before doing any more software installs. If the phone doesn't work from a stock ROM, then the device is defective. You have too many variables that could be causing the problems. Get back to stock and then add one thing at a time to your device.
EDIT: An unlock code should work regardless of what you do with the phone, so I don't think that is the issue.
Ok first off what radio version do you have on the HD2 as this might be your reception problem. Certain radio versions work better in certain areas but the latest version 2.15.50.14 seems to work well for everyone. TO flash a different radio version to your HD2 go to "[RADIO] The HTC HD2 Master Radio Thread" and download the radio version you want to use, you may want to try several different ones until you find one that works for you. If you have the international HD2 with 512MB ram you can flash any radio version. If you have the TMOUS HD2 you can only flash radio versions2.06.50.xx and up, do not flash a 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any x.xx.51.xx tradio version to a TMOUS as it will brick the phone. If you have all whit external buttons at the bottom of the HD2 you have a international model, if you have a green send button and a red end button it is a TMOUS. Put your HD2 into the multicolor bootloader screen by holding the volume down button down while powering on, connect your HD2 via USB and wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB then flash the radio.
To get your full 16GB back on your memory card you will have to reformat it cause WP7 puts a funky format on the SD card as it uses the SD card as the internal memory. The easiest way to do this is to get a SD card adapter and put your SD card in it then stick it in a digital camera and format it with the camera then format it with your computer using fat 32, this will give you your full 16GBs back.
thank you both for help. i have already tried to go back to original rom and windows 6.5 for Tmous. no way. but it can call, emergency call runs and with a 3G SIM i can call. the seller said he unlocked hd2 in USA before sending me, i had to unlock it again wit my sim. so there is something strange. seems it has a low signal power, and refuse GSM signal. tomorrw i will take it in a lab for testing of signal. then i will wite here again.

Are you saying you could not flash it back to stock, or that after the flash it appears to be still locked?
i flashed back, removed Hspl, putting a rom on SD and renaming leoimg.***.
then i have installed an original win 6.5 rom.
the same i've done today again, only with a rom for win 6,5.
notice: in win 6,5 the IMEI was longer, finished with a 01 more than other view from android doing *#06#- may be is not important.
the only way to see a carrier working is to put 3G sim and the correct APN.

Ok someone correct me if I am wrong please as I am going on what I consider to be basic knowledge of both subjects here. But the APN settings are basically just for your data/internet connection to work properly with the carrier you have as you have to access their servers to go online. The radio is what is in control of voice communication along with the phone hardware. The hardware also has control over the data connection to but it is more to the extent if you can use 2G, 3G, or 4G. So in summary if you are having voice problems change your radio version, if you are having data connection trouble check your APN settings.
hardware
thank yo for your help.
i have took back the phone from LAB.
no way, there is a hardware damage, due, may be, to transport from USA to Italy. the involved side is in reception, the chip is damaged due to accidental shock, and has a very low activity. only where the signal is full, the damaged filter let it work, but it's always a strange way to do it, totally full signal and no signal in a few seconds. T.Mobile is not supported by european HTC, so i must send back the phone in USA
I am moving from android to WP7. I ordered a network unlocked samsung focus from ebay and it should be here any minute Really excited. But need some advice on what to do next:
1. I am guessing the phone might be loaded with a pre NoDo WP7. So how do I update it ? Would I lose my network unlock if I did update. I am in the US right now with ATnT but will move back to India soon where I would want to continue using the phone.
2. I have heard quite a bit about WP7 unlock to sideload apps. Some pointers on when best to do it (in the sense, before or after the update).
And anything else that I need to know to make my WP7 experience more enjoyable.
Thanks in advance.

Few starting points
1. All phone updates come via Zune. You need to install Zune, and version 4.8 has just been published today. You will also need this to deploy apps.
2. If your OS version is >7008 (settings, about, more), to sideload you will need to flash one of the ROMs here (AT&T UCJK2 recommended).
3. Once in 7004 or 7008, you need to unlock with Chevron. Sideloading works after that and you can update to NoDo
4. Formatting/flashing the phone doesn't affect SIM lock.
Locks are in NVRAM - you do not overwrite this section by flashing firmware or formatting. If the device is already SIM unlocked, flashing/updating/downgrading the ROM will keep the phone unlocked.
Why don't wait for official Mango update?
It should be less then a month away.
Personally I don't want to use different software in order to update to Mango.
I find it a bit risky.
I also got my phone from eBay(originally AT&T) and it works in Europe.
Thanks Guys
So I understand that once my phone is SIM locked, there is nothing that would lock it back to ATnT again ... Great inputs ... will get my hands on the Mango update ...
I was really worried about the SIM lock as if I lose that, the whole point of getting a new focus for 250 USD would be lost ..
Hey, got my Focus and it was on 7004 ... so managed to unlock it ...
Here is a strange situation... I am using an ATnT Prepaid plan USD50 (talk + text + web) ... although ATnT says I require a separate data plan for smartphones, GPRS works just fine on my LG Optimus One ...
However, with my Focus, it just refuses to work at all ... Any work around ?
Also, used Samsung tools to get the 3G toggle button but even after that, the icon still says 3G ... but still I get no data .. tried resetting apn etc etc but no dice ..
Thanks in advance

Connect to a WiFi or USB through Zune and look for "Network Profile" app (by Samsung) in Marketplace. Run it and change the profile to the carrier you use. That should do it.

Forgot to mention .. Did that also ..
Also, for some reason, thought ATnT rom might be causing the problem ... so flashed the Rogers ROM ...
Can you give me the list of steps and lemme see if I got it wrong... Thanks
At this point, I'd suggest put another SIM and switch in Network Profile to the new settings. Then, switch back to yours and run Network Profile again.
If neither work, you might have a problem with the hardware itself.
Hopefully not.
Something else you can try is: some people mess with the Diagnosis values and completely screw things up. There is a thread on Samsung codes in here somewhere, try finding a Factory Reset or at least a Hard reset.
Let us know how that goes.
Dont fret.. the SIM unlock would not be lost
Hey there..
I was in the exact same scenario bought a Samsung Focus from US using it here in India, here are a couple of tidbits (if you may) from me
SIM unlock would not be lost even if you update the firmware / restore from a back up
You cannot unlock for a version above 7004, if the OEM firmware is above 7004 you have to downgrade all the way to 7004 to unlock and upgrade to mango
Also, check on the revision of the Focus, it can be found on the panel near the IMEI behind your battery pack. revision 1.3 is slightly more hack friendly than rev 1.4
Regarding side-loading apps, you cannot side-load pirated apps. It's just wrong. The scene is very unlike iOS scene where the app files are available freely. But you can always, side load certain hacked apps like Registry Editor for phone,Samsung Tools etc. But this might change as Chevron Team might release an official unlock tool with the help of MSFT.
Having said all this, I'm an iOS convert. And absolutely fell in love with this beauty right from day 1.
Feel free to hit me up on the forum or leave a PM if you have any questions

What's the best place to get an unlock code? And is it worth updating to Mango right now or better to wait for the official release?

For code go on eBay, it's cheaper there.
For Mango, as long as you're fine with the fact that once the official update arrives you need to revert back and lose the progress, to update, it's good.
