Samsung Galaxy II

Does anyone have any reliable info on when and where this phone will be available? I keep hearing things suggesting next month, but I'm curious why t-mo would release the vibrant 4g a few weeks ahead of the galaxy II.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App, Bionix-v1.2.1
I don't think there's any news for that phone to come to US yet. It will be released in Europe and all over the world except US. I'm hoping too to come but there's no news about that yet
1st week of March in Europe, supposedly, 2weeks after Europe...BUT... The comment was "scheduled to be released 2 weeks thereafter in the USA" in real English that means..... the 3rd week of March to 3rd week in December
T-Mobile tweeted they would be carrying the device. Don't have the link but its on phandroid and androidcentral.

yea they already released that it was a mistake. somebody confused the vibrant 4g and the galaxy II confused. How anybody could get those the depressing vibrant 4g confused with the beast that is the galaxy II, the world may never know
If this plays out like it did last year, Europe/ rest of world will most likely see it in March (like posted above) and U.S. will have their sub-models out in the summer.

Epic 4g upgrade time any suggestions

Hey guys I am still rocking my epic 4g, but have finally got to my upgrade date with sprint. I like the look of the galaxy s 2, but I was really disappointed in samsung in how slow they are to update software. I really don't want to go through that crap again. Htc evo 3d looks good but I heard the batt life is not good. I have even considered the iphone 4s, but the durability is very questionable. Any suggestions?

Wait out till Galaxy Nexus or other LTE phones release. Sprint's making to the move to LTE for 4G.
Sent from a CM9 powered Epic.
If you must upgrade now, get the SGS2
If you can wait, get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the SGS3
HTC One X

Personally I'd wait til the GSIII announcement to make a decision. Or at least til the beginning of next month to make sure you didn't win a Galaxy Nexus (if you're entering the giveaway everyday).
sgs3 to start rolling out next month. http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/21/samsung-china-exec-suggests-galaxy-s-iii-could-land-in-april/ might not see it on sprint that soon but close enough to wait for an update. i am hoping for word of lte note before my june upgrade.
Just a thought as I recently did this and I understand it's not for everyone. I love my Epic so much and don't mind waiting more (hopefully for a qwerty phone) so I bought one of the $199 iPhones online and then sold it on ebay for over $500. This gives me cash and starts the 'ticker' again on my contract etc...
If you are in the first wave or second wave areas for LTE development, wait for the Galaxy Nexus next month. WiMax phones will not work on LTE. If you don't mind a much larger phone wait and see if and when the Galaxy Journal is coming to Sprint....it is nicknamed a Phablet.

Is it really called a Phablet?? Lol
To upgrade right now would be a waste of money. Two months. 1. LTE 2. New Phones start rolling out and you get better options for the long term. 3. LTE 4. The current line up prices will drop even more. Oh and LTE. Lol
Plus EPIC 4G is hoppin right now!!

Yep even the note on att is called a phablet and really to the OP durable and ipod/iphone shouldn't be in the same sentence really cracked screens all day.
Corning Glass has much more durability not to mention the newest Gorilla Glass.
And Sammy may be slow with updates but atleast on most devices they fix em in every update unlike HTC were there are sevral updates constantly in a month because they don't get it right.

Also wait for the iPhone 5. Jail broke the 4s and its running great as well rooted epic 4g and HTC evo 3d. And there's the galaxy series like the beam, S3 coming out.

I've been sitting on an upgrade since last year for the nexus... that's what I plan on getting on release day =]. Would wait for the gs3 but that's too far from now.

Sounds like I will be waiting.. Thanks for the feedback guys

Nexus 4/Keep samsung s2/wait for new phone

I am thinking about getting the nexus 4, I have a samsugn galaxy s2 right now. My contract gets renewed in december for tmobile, you guys think any new amazing phones will be out by then? if so which? Maybe the s4?
December?? Defff newer and better phones will be out by then that's almost a year...
The s4 will be out by summer and possibly the nexus five by end of year??
But whose gonna wait that long and be stuck with an s2 lol
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
^Nothing's wrong with the S2. It's still more than adequate for all daily tasks and handles gaming fairly well.
I for one will be keeping to the nexus brand from now on. Coming from Samsung's and HTCs which have all had there faults, I've yet to find one with this device.
But I suppose it all comes down to what you prefer in device.
Personally if I was you I'd wait till the end of the year because newer phones will definitely be out. But if you can't wait, get the Nexus 4!

I had a Skyrocket prior to my Nexus 4 and I thought it was a good phone, then I when I got the Nexus 4 I was blasted with the speed and response but also because it had JB installed. After I installed JB on the Skyrocket I thought it was pretty snappy as well. That being said a dual core phone should still suffice your needs for now.
Q2/Q3 and after Google IO you will start seeing lotta phones coming out, based on Snapdragon 800, Tegra 4 and Exynos 5 Octa etc... There may be a Google X phone and then theres also the S4.
But even if you go ahead with the Nexus 4 its still a fast phone that will last you a while, when Key Lime Pie gets out it'll be even better. :good:
I had a Galaxy S2 before my Nexus 4, but by December the new Nexus will be out. I also saw that there are already a couple 4.2.2 roms for that phone! Developer support still seems pretty strong, and it's still a high end phone. If you can I would try to wait and just keep a good rom on it.

Coming from the sg2 as well, and have the death of the at&t weird sleep mode of death and just ordered the Nexus 4 last night contract is up in May/June but just going to switch sim card out and use the nexus 4 till something better comes along, if you have $300+ I feel that it is a big jump from the sg2 to the nexus 4, plus you will always have the latest android version, unlike the super delayed updates from att and samsung

Nexus 4 support

Good Afternoon,
I am interested in getting the Nexus 5 which supposedly is being unveiled on August 7 and in stores October 20. Sadly im sure it wont go to verizon right away but i hope it doesnt take long. How is the software support for the 4?
I come from HTC Thunderbolt where the support lagged for years before finally releasing ICS in February of 2013, 1 month short of 2 years old. I am hoping the support for this phone and forum is high?
Thanks for replying...
The software support is what you would expect from Google... there haven't been many Android releases since the release of the Nexus 4 but it got the previous updates right away, and it's expected to be the same for the next few releases at LEAST.
However why do you think the Nexus 5 will be on Verizon at all seeing as the Nexus 4 isn't?

2) The Nexus 4 isn't on Verizon.

verizon ruined their chances with the way they handled the galaxy nexus. no nexus should be treated like verizon treated the galaxy nexus
oh, and are you sure that you didnt mean motorola x, instead of the nexus 5??

Well the phone should have CDMA capabilities with the qualcomm 800 so i guess im hoping for it to come to verizon. They are saying the LG G2 is the Nexus 5. Its still not confirmed but it looks pretty. I guess we get to know more on August 7th.
Moto X is just an Iphone competitor phone. I dont want that. Qualcomm 800 is what i have been holding out for. Sad none of the new droids got it, the x wont have it so my next phone will be between the Note 3 (kinda big but i can deal with it), HTC T6 (i wont get it i just thought id mention) or LG G2 (possibly known to be the Nexus 5). Any thoughts?
Btw this post was originally just to find out ROM support but i like the additional feedback!

Nexus and Google Edition device dont get CDMA support due to the closed sourced telephone files. There have been no positive rumors of even a new nexus coming this year at all. If there was it would have most likely been released today with the new nexus tablet.

Well if the nexus thing is true then its no big deal. The phone seems to have all the core specs im looking fore. Upon release we will find out if the other specs meet or exceed expectations!
2700mah+ (possibly removable)
sd card slot
nice speaker
LTE A support!
Im so excited i need to change my pants!
EDIT: So i guess i should ask the Optimus G forum instead since it looks like it wont be a nexus device

The 9th would be awesome but on the website it's saying October.
Could it be October 9th instead?

Those who pre-register will be among the first to know about the availability and get pre-order information for the new Galaxy Note 4, which will be available in T-Mobile stores in October, and the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, which will arrive at T-Mobile later this fall.
Really debating if I should upgrade from my Note 3. I have one more JUMP until April *the old JUMP where you upgrade twice a year*. I would like to see the Note 4 in person before deciding.
it'll probably be on the 9th, but in October...
It would be nice if it is the 9th of this month.
I live in GA. Where does T-mobile ship their phone from?
Yeah most likely the 9th of October. The T-Mobile Uncarrier 7.0 event is the 10th of September so I doubt they would release it before that.
Or would they? Nah

Lol its not Sept 9th. October 9th is far more likely.

Samsung specifically said October. I really don't understand these rumors ppl come up with. I didn't hear Samsung say "with the exception of T- mobile USA it will be September"!!!!
He might be confusing the fact that T-Mobile will allow the public to view the Note 4 at specific locations. September 9th being one of those dates.
Really stupid question
Ok so we that have the Note 3 being the hlte...mine being hltetmo or sm-n900t can anyone tell me what the t-mobile Note4 will be in regards to model? I'm pretty sure the model # will be sm-n910t but what will be the codename? I'm bored and trying to do some build prop stuff to make my my Note3 think it's a Note4. .yea I'm bored.lol changed to n910t already but need the codename like hlte.
When I had a rom (forgot which) once antutu thought my Note3 was an S5...I'm trying to do the same but with it thinking I have a Note4. Lol

9/9 would make sense because that's the day the Icrap6 is announced/comes out.
I'm 90% getting note 4, curious to know the performance of those mid range 64bit chips

For what? The demos or the release?
The Note 4 is not making it to a September release. As I posted above directly from T-Mobile, the Note 4 will be out in October.
If I'm not mistaken it hasn't even past FCC stages. No way in heck its 9/9...that would have been WAY too smart and strategic of Samsung.
