Hey all my fellow XDA'ers! I've had a serious cell phone addiction for quite some time now and get some of my greatest pleasure counting down the days to new high end phones and hunting them down! after purchasing each headset, I like to somehow customize/distinguish it from others like mine (no matter what phone it is, I soon see masses of people all carrying "my baby" lol. Thus, I usually try to mod/heavily accessorize my headsets with the latest designer cases or a lil something diff. than the avergae.
Two weeks ago, my world stopped! I finally received my unlocked HTC HD2 which I had been waiting for like a school child waits for his X-Mas gifts!

I love it too much!
The new phone feeling hasn't gone away and I'm two weeks in.
Just had to share...

Glad to hear, welcome to the forum
Sent from HTC Evo, the REAL iPhone killer....
Hey, most of us have had our EVOs for months and still haven't lost that fresh feeling new tech brings.
It's actually rather difficult to lose it with all the excellent ROMs and support we have access to here.
For example, I recently switched to a newer ROM that has swype. I'm suddenly addicted to writing, posting, texting, and emailing from my phone. These new interest get me looking in new places for more apps and such, and the process repeats!
-Just warming up!
The new phone shine is gone for me. I guess I need to flash a new rom or learn how to write apps or something.
You have been EVOfied.
Had mine since November, its still in my hand 24/7
Bought mine on release day and I am still finding new things to play with all the time. Most of the people here are great and willing to help and the dev's keep putting new little tweaks in the rom's.
Just signed up for dropbox, and that is awesome. And the utorrent app w/ 3.0 alpha on my desktop is amazing It seems like it is never ending!!!
Granted, this is my first android phone and before this I had a blackberry curve that was hell-bent on making me kill myself - this is the coolest device i have had in quite some time!
Cheers!
Every time I get bored with my phone I find something new to tinker with, some new program to replace an old program with or some new program to do something new and cool with my phone. Right now I'm busy learning how to automate my phone with Tasker.
lol, i must say, i'm not a big fan of "big" phones, but the EVO is technically not all that huge. i prefer slider phones, but the on screen keypad is really easy to get used to. this phone definitely rocks and should be the iphone killer. the qik application is a bit disappointing to me since the 4g is not all that great, and my g/f doesn't have a wireless router (yet), but i'm sure once i get her one, it'll be top of the game. htc and android are the best team!
P.s. I have root and don't even care to put any roms on here, the stock is great, just removed the bloat and my battery life and performance is uncanny than any other droid i've had before.
I know the feeling! I used to drive 10-20 miles down the interstate before I realized that I had left my BB at home. Now I don't make it to the kitchen without turning around and snatching it up!
Got mine at xmas...
someone help... I think I play with this thing to much...
it is affecting my other important things in life....
I need to stop...
i need to quit....
is there an app to make me put this thing down for a few hours?
ps.. I am talking about my evo!!!!
lol! let someone in your family put a lockcreen code on it lol
... but then you would probably sit for hours trying to figure it out
Best bet is to just feed the beast.
You could always use Tasker to pop up regular messages to tell you to stop playing with it or you'll wear it out.
This is my first thread as an OP, and ironically probably my last in the HeroC forums.. I converted over to the 3vo yesterday (and yes the rumors are true, it is amazing), so this is somewhat of a farewell thread but also one last testament to how awesome this little hero is..
i was on vacation last week with my wife's family in the mountains of Tennessee, we get a cabin there every year.. but everybody in the family has a smart phones, there are 2 brand new windows phones on AT&T and the rest are sprint, 2 evos a nexus s, and a random asortment of other phones.. but they all have looked at the hero with disdain, because most had the hero stock (which we all know sucked balls), and only 2 of them actually let me root it, but wouldnt let me optimize it at all.. but they all looked at my little hero like it was a piece of trash, because they had all moved on to "better" phones.. but on to the point, up in this mountain there was hardly a cell signal, the AT&T phones had zero signal, and the others were hit and miss.. but, my hero had signal the whole time.. not only did it have signal, but i wireless tethered to the laptops so we could get on the internet.. so while their condescending "awesome" phones sat lifeless on their night stands, my hero reigned supreme and gave life to their devices..
i know that didnt really have a lot to do with anything, but thought i would throw it out there, this phone despite being left to die by sprint and HTC, continues to conquer where other phones fail.. my hero shall sit in a glass case as it watches over its android kingdom..
and many thanks to all of the people that have helped me around here, and hopefully i have returned the favor at some point.. i will still be floating around here especially until the 3vo forums settle down a bit.. but raise a glass to our hero, heres to the greatest of the phones that was never meant to be great..
Cheers!

Well said!!!....Not only did my Hero serve me well for 16 months in the face of all those who scoffed. It's now been put into service teaching my 11 year old the ways of Android.
It's amazing how many people revere their Heros. It's just like your first love. I went through the Palm Pilot thing, and this really reminds me of that. People posted about upgrading, but talked about the respect and admiration they had for their first device.
Good luck to you in 3vo land, sounds like that community is really getting going.

I've been browsing these boards tonight as I have been rooting and flashing my sister's Hero. This phone and its community is a spitting image of the Eris I had. I really am glad to see a diamond in the rough across all carriers to spread the Android love. Sorry to stray off topic, but I know all about having a great community driven phone, and I will never forget my Eris.

I enjoyd mine. I rooted almost immediately when I got it last year and learned the Android trades of hack and mod. It was a great introduction to Android OS and a solid little phone. Now that I have the 3VO, I somewhat miss it for things like the jogball, root, custom ROMs. I sold it to a coworker so I still have visitation, lol.

my wife and i both had heros and she moved on to an evo a while back, and wanted nothing to do with her hero, so i traded it in, and kept mine so it can have a nice retirement.. if i get bored with the 3d or aosp posts something amazing, i will take him down and give him a fresh flash to keep him up to date.. it is most deff one of the best devices to learn stuff on, there wasnt anything that i couldnt do to that phone.. times that i swore it was bricked and then 15 minutes later he was pumping again.. :tear:
I've had mine for about a year, and I plan to have him for maybe another year... or maybe more, depends I really love this little thing.

Nicely put man... Cheers to our little phone that was Never Meant/Suppose to be Great!!
Hi guys, The time has now come where I finally get to upgrade my phone. This means goodbye to my beloved HTC HD2.
What may be arguebly the best phone to come out of the HTC factory really has come along way starting life on a dying/dead WM6.5 OS, then the the android development started and next thing we knew android was fully running via SD card. Then came the day where the amazing developers on this site dropped NAND boot and this is the day the HD2 Became AMAZING!!
Its been an awsome 24 months, I know ive not really posted on this site much but I have been reading and following all the hard work the amazing developers on this site have put in and I just want to take this time to say THANK YOU ALL!! without you the HD2 wouldnt have been the device it is today.
After much consideration I have decided to try something new and will be taking delivery of my Iphone 4S tomorrow. But I just have this feeling I will be back here sooner or later.
BIG RESPECT!!
Now its been 2 years with the HTC HD2 and I was really excited about what the phone actually can do.
I cheated in my finals, I lost my gf, anyway when I was in trouble, in a ****ty situation my HD2 helped me with any app, mod or anything.
From now my new mate will be the HTC One. The Change had only one reason: my HD2 was too 'old' and 'slow' for me.
I wanted a newer one, a faster one with more tweaks and mods.
But I didn't want, that my HD2 RIP and wastes in my showcase. So what I did is: flashed the latest rom (Touchwizmod), and gave it to my younger sister with the wise words: it can be your best friend, it was my light in the darkness. Handle it good!
So I think this was a good decision 'cause my sister is also interested in modding.
Yesterday I checked the last time the threads of http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=928, I did a last full wipe, charged the battery full and plugged my charger off for ever.
All in all, it was a long journey with you my pal, but for now i have to say thank you and have to reach the crown of smartphones further.
Still a better love story than Twilight
Personally im torn bout selling my oldie, pissed of by Android, moved to WP. Let's see how it can impress me ( marketplace SUX BALLS )
