Seems its gone quiet on the rom/updates for most cookers , this prob because they are all at work on a new custom kernel for their roms like j, WB etc , what goodies will be activated by them and what release kernel will you be using ? as i see on freexperia hub both the .29 and 32 have been worked on? , will you all be dropping froyo and jumping straight to Gingerbread ? i like GB but for some reason i like froyo better WB v5 with custom .32 rom would be top notch

yep. I dont mind much for the fps cap but its probably cause I dont know what im missing. The most important to me is 16m colours.

believe me, you do If you've compared the x10 with phones like the htc desire, the desire is so much smoother because there is no fps cap
The important things for me are removed fps cap and overclocking.

I hear you buddy!
I don't think the call volume is necessarily because of the kernel. Its not a problem for a lot of people, it seems to be a regional problem. There are volume hacks available already but I don't know for certain they work for in call volume.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Regional or not its problem for many people so why not...and as I know all sound hacks works only on hacked devices...correct me if Im wrong...
...another thing is NO exposure correction (+- EV) for 2.2+ camera and until now nobody answered me if we will have it on new ROMs as we already have on 2.1 stock camera...maybe Arc cam port will help...do somebody know why noone port Arc camera apk to X10? Just a question because Arc firmware is here in XDA for a long time...

i'm very very sure there are a few things ppl NEED in a custom kernel:
1. FPS cap removal
2. 16mil colours
3. UNDERVOLT to save battery
4. tethering
Plus, it open doors to Cyanogen and MIUI teams to develop a version of their roms specifically optimized to our x10...
Also the possibility to port Sense Roms for those who like it, as jerpelea has tried unsuccessfully in the past...
And the possibility to develop optimized kernels, which will improve roms stability and speed...
Just look at G1 development section and you will see that there are some kernels that runs faster and better than anothers...

Well, fps cap doesn't really bother me. Considering the human eye can't see past 24fps and I don't really play any games to have seen the fps drop down to it being noticeable (except when the phone lags of course).
Human eye can percieve Much more than 24fps. 24 is a basis for smooth effects. 32 is generally the smooth media standard. Its a theory like gravity. Z"tests" have shown human eyes seeing past 60-100. Due to ram and higher fps would smoothen and speed up our phones. Much less lag. Better response time.

is it even possible to change to kernel so we have 16m colours? can our screen do that?

Try using Z's custom kernel for 2.1 at least once (or just compare the smoothness of scrooling menus and screens on iPhone and Xperia X10)... the removal of the 32fps cap do a hell of a difference. First time i´ve tryed i ->

Old old news see previous posts its an option only .

OMG! NO!!!! They are thinking of adding an OPTION for older people to have larger Icons to help them use the phone and they are making updating the firmware easier for those less technically capable!!!! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING??? THESE PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE USING SMARTPHONES!!!!!! I'M NEVER GETTING THE S2 NAO!!
Haha, good one, but really why force it on everyone else.
Edit: (after reading some more) Lets see if they offer it as an option or not
If anything id be looking to DECREASE the size of the icons not increase them although the size they are right now is fine.

I'm technically capable (IT developer by trade) whom also happens have very poor sight. I choose SGS2 because of the screen size and "low" resolution!
If Samsung implemented an option to have larger icons, I might actually be happy to use it!

WTF!!! This is a huge downgrade! Only reason i can think of is Samsung HAD to do it because of Apple's complaints about the similarity of the gui's of Android vs that of iOS. We've already begun to see the effects of this war with one of the most recent releases of the SGS2 ROMs, lacking nonetheless than the overscroll bumping effect!
Myself, I will stuck with my old stock ROM with Android version 2.3.3...
By the look of it, there are many people here who should seriously consider taking up the bigger icons given the apparent eyesight challenges they are having.
Such as not being able to spot that this is an option and not compulsory...
ITS AN OPTION FOR SENIORS
Now stop *****in'
It would be good if it was just an option, but if it is so, then where is this written?
Personally, although I am middle aged and have poor eyesight, I much prefer having 16 icons of normal size rather than 9 enormous icons. Especially considering the big screen size. I don't think I'm the only one...

Hey Guys .
I just Bought a LG NEXUS 4 ! I was with the HTC one x before !
and the question that I want to Solve is That When I picked it up I found the colors really bad on the screen ! the Colors Or like not as sharp as they would be On a 720p screen .
So I was Wondering if that's Normal ! if That's the case with all the nexus 4s out there Or it's just my screen ??
I'm also experiencing the pinch-zoom delay (not responsive) ! I'm runing official Android 4.3 .
So I would like to know if Rooting and installing a custom rom on My Nexus 4 will Solve any of these "litlle issues" or it's just the same for all the other nexus devices Out there ??
Thanks for your answers . Good luck
I've been thinking of switching from One X to nexus 4 myself I'd like to steal ur thread a bit and ask the same question, is nexus 4 screen much worse than the One X?

colors can be improved by flashing a custom kernel like franco or faux or any kernel based on this two or that support gamma control
you can find colors spreadsheet heres the link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoDp2qRui0u0dGE4T2gtSDBTRHVFSldPS2RrX1Rya0E#gid=6
and can set color by that or can manually figure out which suits you
and about pinch to zoom that is what pinch to zoom is made by google it will be like that in gallery and i suppose chrome
you wont see that delay in firefox or other
hope i helped
The pinch-to-zoom delay is one of the most annoying things of the N4. I can't believe they didn't "fix" this.
And please don't suggest me Firefox. I hate it.

i'm not suggesting anyone anything i'm just trying to make a point that it works fine on that but not in gallery etc so its not a hardware problem or like that only if someone ever can find where those values are and can change them the delay can be fixed

For me personnaly, the One X screen is way better sharper
Its True that the nexus 4's us brighter.
But the color reproduction is way better on the One X screen
And also the camera is better on the One X !! Defenetly.
And Im sure that a lot of you Will agree with me.
But whatever.. Each one has his own préférences so.
I still got the One X and side to side with the N4. The difference is noticable.

The One X has over saturated colors. Stock 4.3 is much closer to natural colors. I don't have any issues with pinch zoom with a custom kernel. Camera on the One X is much better. The screen color issues you guys see I think are similar to those coming from Samsung devices with super over saturated AMOLEDs.
Spent the best part of two days trying to fix this i guess... I swear to god if I hadn't figured this out, the phone was being returned!
YMMV, caveat emptor etc.
1) Enable 'Disable HW Overlays' in Developer Settings - won't work without this! Edit: Resets after boot! Anyone know how to automate this?
2) Download Nomone - Resolution Changer from the Play Store
3) I swear to god - change resolution to 1441 x 2561 (edit: changing dpi breaks stock LG apps)
4) Reboot phone - fix should already work but this fixes layout for DPI change.
This doesn't negate the effect entirely but it looks like its 95% gone. Other resolution variants work too but this one has the greatest effect of all the ones I tried.
Picture for proof - sorry for potato quality, my only other camera was an iPad - maybe the difference is less noticable zoomed in, but compare the 'mited' bit to see the biggest difference.

LG use post-processing to artificially enhance the sharpness of the screen - not sure if it varies by model or its an eyesight thing, but some seem to loathe it while others don't even notice it. See this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/figure-how-to-remove-sharpening-t2807761
Compare the 'm i t' bit of that picture i linked - top (default) one has a very strong white outline, while it's barely/not there in the bottom one.

There's an easy fix for that. The fault is imbalance of the colors/contrast.
The fix is definitely to modify contrast and such either from settings>accessibility>color adjustment or by using trickstermod.
