So all of a sudden I notice that my wifi signal bars turn blue to whit, when watching a video it turns white and no more of that will load?? What does it mean and can it be fixed?? I'm running honeycomb 3.2 I can't get is because the bars turn white and no more can be downloaded...what do I do?
Im pretty sure this is somewhat like on windows when you get the connected but no internet access situation try turning wifi on then back on
Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it, on my tab and router but still having the same problem, could it be software problems?

Could be router. Try changing channels on the router.
Um, I honestly don't know how to change it dude, can you help me with that?
the colour is only there when your Google account is connected. if it is grey then you are still connected to the internet.

All routers are different. You'll really have to get your users manual and look. Basically, if I remember correctly, just access the admin page for the router. The look in the menu;s.
However, before you do that, have you gone to your Wifi settings, and set your Wifi Sleep Policy to "Never"? Might fix your issue without messing with your router.

Hi.
No problem with the wifi so far. This is strange.
Do you have warranty?
Sound stupid but did you try to reset your router?
If nothing is working you should go to the service.
yea i messed around with wifi router, nothing, i can browse the net on 3g wich is odd, but 3g is expensive so that cnt be the solution. bluetooth and 3g work obv but the wifi cannot connect itl connect to the wirelss just NO datac exchange?
There is someone with the same kind of problem but on an EVO 4g, but i really do not understand what they reply's mean. Maybe you do?

i managed to fix it, it wasnt my device as such it was my router, too so i fiddled around with both mainly giving my x10 a static ip and bam it worked, cheers!!
I too have a wifi problem, but it is quiet a different one and i have no idea how to solve it.
when I connect to wifi at home my router reboots, but there is no such problem when i connect to my office.
I tried reseting the router at home and still no use, once it got connected and when i started a download from the market the router again rebooted.
How can i solve this????

Maybe switch from G to N standard (or vise versa, if availible?)

Somebody told him to try to switch the router from b/g to n. That was the point of my post.
And your router obviously operates all 3 standards at once
So I just updated my Desire HD with the new 2.3.3 update. I downloaded the update OTA using the wifi connection here at home. The download of the update and the installation itself went fine. When my phone rebooted after the update I was glad to see all my settings and apps were still there.
However, there is no connection to the internet anymore through wifi. It does connect to my wifi as I am able to use the Unified Remote app to control my computer. None of the apps however can use the wifi connection to connect to the internet any more.
I already deleted my wifi settings in my Desire HD and re-added them, but that didn't do anything. A simple reboot didn't solve my problem either. My mobile network connection works fine, although much slower than wifi used to be of course.
Does anyone know what I can do to hopefully get my internet connection working again?

This is a known problem...HTC gotta fix this with a new OTA ...
Btw, i can connect to my wifi, and also browse market and web with the standard browser..
Ps:Whit new 2.3.3 Ota..
Chefs have found the WiFi problem. It's not really a big problem. But HTC implemented a minimum WiFi signal strength, which is set high.
So if the signal isn't strong enough, the WiFi will be turned off.
Infact, here on my desk the signal is on the max, and i havent any problem..
I am getting problems too with wifi after update.
For some reason at home wifi is ok here i only reach internal network ...
Very Strange problem...

I doubt that's the problem. When I look in the Testing menu (using *#*#4636*#*#) and go to Wi-Fi Status it says the RSSI is between -51 and -76 which should definitely be strong enough I suppose.

You're correct
HTC has set the minimum WiFi strength to -88, which is imo too high :-/
That's why people will experience dropped wifi
So what is the solution?

Whoops. i don't know why I pressed the "Thank you"-button xD
For casual users: Nothing, wait until HTC releases a new update.
Chef gtg465x has provided a fix in "ROM Development"-section, but you need to root your phone and use CWM etc. If you're not familiar with these things, you better don't try to fix it.

I suppose that only helps when you have the problem of your phone dropping wifi signal when it is below -88? Then I don't think this will solve my problem, as my signal strength is ~-60 and the wifi connection itself works fine but just doesn't connect to the internet after the update.
EDIT:
My problem has been solved
It appears that my phone does not get the right information about the Default Gateway when using DHCP as it was set to 0.0.0.0. After setting the phone to use a static IP I could change the Default Gateway and solve the problem.
Now the question is, why doesn't my phone get the right Default Gateway from my server after updating the phone to 2.3.3?
iep thats my prob ...
Where can i find the signal strength of wifi in DHD ??
When i'm near my router, activating wifi on phone, it only tells "excellent" but there are no values.
Thanks for your advice

Wow, thats the reason, why i love this forum. Thank you very much. Your answer came blazing fast.
The value tells -57 to -60 (pressing on 'Refresh Stats') sitting directly near the antenna of my router
I can't evaluate, if these values are good or bad.
Would be nice to know, which range is good and which range might result in connection problems.
Thank you

Those are pretty good numbers I believe. I am usually getting between -52 and -70 when sitting in my room, which is about 6m away from my router (and through 2 walls). Apparently, anything lower than -88 is bad with the new 2.3.3 update as the phone loses wifi connection at that value.

Ahh i understand. So lower values are better than higher ones.
I heard, that it depends on the radio. I flashed 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2 used with 2.3.3 (MDJs VivoSense 2.1) and it works very good. (no wifi drops at all).
GPS is fast as well. After some seconds i get about 8-10 satellites.

Try searching the NC forums here with your router model. I use the D-Link DIR-655 and it has a known issue with the Nook Color. I have to switch my router to 802.11G only mode before my Nook can connect to it. Others have had to turn off wireless security before their Nook will connect. It's a real pain!

Sometimes I too have similar problem with my xperia. But the problem disappear after rebooting the phone and/or router.
I think it related to your phone's uptime. As the more the uptime, the memory tends to be fragmented and it has impact to wifi drivers (?).
it happens regardless of the never option

Guys hang on looks like a found a solution to this crap.
I carefully observed what happened when my wifi turned off automatically. My phone flashed a message "Get IP address fail, please check wifi password or wifi app status"..
I thought of making my wifi setting from dynamic to static. I used "ipconfig/all" in my cmd to get the details for setting up static ip. i rebooted both my phone and router. And bang!!! It has not been showing the problem now.! I've been using it for 10 minutes now at a stretch ( for the first time).. Am happy and hope that it doesnt recur. Will let u guys know , if the prob comes back!

Hoping the community can help me troubleshoot this issue I'm having... on a new S10+ (SM-G975W) running OneUI 2.0 Android v10. I cannot seem to figure out why apps like DAZN, Sleeper, Pluto, Microsoft News, etc. all run extremely slow (if at all) using my home network wifi. I can literally open an app and it won't even load while I'm on my own wifi, however once I turn my wifi off and use data it loads instantly. Every time. When I'm on away wifi networks (work office, friends places, etc) it works perfectly. Other devices on my home wifi network work perfectly using wifi. Other apps on my phone seem to work without any issue while on wifi (insta, youtube, brave/chrome, google news, etc)... so the wifi certainly does work on this phone; I can do speed tests on fast.com and using the speedtest app and get great results.
I've tried:
- toggling between 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks
- resetting network settings on phone
- resetting network settings on my router (EA 7500 V2)
- forgetting/restarting rejoining wifi network
- hard resetting my router
- toggling various power mode options from high performance to optimized to medium
None of these have worked. I can't seem to figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas for what I can try to do to resolve this - it's driving me mad.
Any help here? Wrong place?
Maybe you could try to change channel of 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi in your router. If it's possible, try tu put DNS of your IPS in router. Or try to change router for another one for test.
Thanks for the help... I have tried toggling betwwwn 2.4 and 5ghz settings. I will look up what the DNS would be and try that. Router seems fine - worked / works with everything else..it seems the issue is on my phone.
When I put my phone in airplane mode then take it off, the wifi works well for a.period of time. Then, it stops again.

Do you know of any? I cant find any to turn off.
Also, I have now hard reset both my router and my phone, still the same issue. DAZN wont even load on wifi. Works on other devices' wifi on the same network. Works with cellular data instantly.
Could it be my ISP that's blocking certain types of traffic?
The behaviour is so weird, for most apps it takes 20ish seconds before the wifi 'kicks in' and starts working. I have no throttling or other apps installed.
It also doesnt load certain online streams. Some work, but some dont, and if i switch to cellular they work perfectly.
PlutoTV is another app / stream that simply does not work while using wifi, but works using cellular.
So in summary:
- S10+ DAZN and PlutoTV apps definitely do not work over 5ghz wifi connection
- other phones using same apps on same wifi networks work pefectly
- I've hard-resetted my phone and router and it's still not solving the issue
so... what in the heck could this be?
Is the WiFi-Safe Mode enabled in the developer settings? If yes, try to disable it.
FYI - figured it out. By disabling IPv6 on my router it solved my issues. Hope this helps someone else in my situation.

Dude! You Rock! I've been trying to solve this conundrum for years. I never could figure out why apps would run better on slower cellular, than they would on fast wifi. This has made my streaming perfect. No more buffering. Thank you

FYI - figured it out. By disabling IPv6 on my router it solved my issues. Hope this helps someone else in my situation.

Legend! This has been troubling me so much lately that I've stopped using Wi-Fi. Disabling IPv6 worked like a charm! Thanks so much.

Thankyou, was having weird behaviour on all android devices on my new ISP, disabling IPv6 on the router helped. Really interesting it seemed to affect only android (S23, S21, Google Home and Shield TV) but not windows, IOS or Mac.
