Hi,
Does anybody else experience buggy screen more and more often ??
The first few days, i couldnt' unlock it for 1 second or so... was fine
Then after 2 weeks, screen got unrepsonsive for a few seconds from time to times.
Then 3rd week, screen was unresponsive for 1 HOUR... found out cleaning the screen or decreseasing screen sensitivity with BsB seemed to help.
And today... i wanted to scroll down in some program, it reacted as if i had another finger on the screen and started to zoom in or out.... 3 mins later : my screen became unresponsive and it s unresponsive now for the last 2 hours... cleaning the screen doesn't help.. it just doesn't react at all and phone is useless now.
Question is : Do you guys also noticed some decreasing screen quality over time ?? (maybe in some DIFFERENT ways than i had.... like this guy here : http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=10735
I am not able to do what that guy did on the video ! :/
Maybe you should update rom

Yes, I've had exactly the same problem for a few weeks - it's Summer here in Australia and I noticed the same thing happening when the phone gets hot while in use or connected to the charger.
It doesn't get better until the phone cools down. Believe it or not, I had to put mine in the freezer to unfreeze it. That's right, the freezer to unfreeze it...ah forget it...
I've tried several ROM upgrades and hard resets - makes NO difference. It's a device (not software) fault so you'll probably need to replace it.
Here's another thing you can try to see if you have the same problem as me - put a second finger at the bottom left edge of the screen and see if it presses soft buttons on the right hand side.
Howdy folks... i will try to get a picture up tomorrow...
Basically a few days ago i picked up my phone and noticed a marble type effect on my screen, very similar to when you put inks into water etc.
At first i thought the lcd screen had leaked etc but my (actual) screen looks normal, no missing pixels or screen errors
It happened again few days later and then this morning my gf removed it from her pocket the whole touch area was like it... and still is now... 10 hours later...
Could water or moisture build up between the touch part and then screen???
During the time it happens the touch area doens't function at all!!
Any ideas or thoughts at all??
Thank you all very much in advance!!
dont know, but this happeded on my touch ELF and is happning on my touch 3g now, not happy might try a few crazy things before replacing the digitiser il let you know if anything works.
Heres a pic attached...
Cant really see it but maybe help to see the issue?
Can kinda see the outline of where the marble effect starts... and you can see the purple and lights green/blue effect its left..
I wouldn't mind but the touch screen doesn't work kinda making the phone useless!
tried a few things, like freezing than heating, worked for a while, calibration kept falling out. put it away and went back to my elf. tried it yesterday and it hardly responds to touch at all, responds randomly when you press it haaaaaaarrrddd.
might be time to get new parts
Looks like the touch screen sensors are out of sort. My experience with my previous model (HTC Kaiser) similar thing happened. Changing the screen solved everything, works like new.
I had problems with the touch screen on my touch 3g and tryed everything (hard restarts, screen aligns, millions of times) until i changed the digitiser in htc service and everything works fine now, like new as azahidi said. Good luck.
Hi all, I'm on my second 101 now (first had a broken speaker) however I have a problem and I'm not sure if it's a faulty device or if I should go through the ordeal of a full reset. Basically the device seems to loose screen calibration very very quickly. Some times when waking the device from sleep there is a touch screen dead spot n the middle of the screen. Running screen calibration instantly corrects this 90% of the time however 30mins later the same dead spot is back. I had a similar problem with the first one but upgrading to the latest update sorted my issues.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Any suggetions for helping the device to hold its calibration longer?
Should I do a full reset?!
Another defective unit perhaps??
Sounds defective to me. The only time I've calibrated my screen was when I had to as part of the initial setup. It's never lost calibration yet after set up.
My auto rotate is crazy any issues
It seems my new archos 101 auto rotates all over the place. any issues from anyone else. it seems to want to go to landscape with the Archos 101 upside down.
Hi all,
I've had my Archos 101 since early last month, had no issues whatsoever with the touch screen, until that is I upgraded to 2.1.08, now it is becoming somewhat unresponsive at times.
It's only an intermittent issue, and just like Explore's unit I never had to calibrate until then, working like a dream. So, perhaps there's a bug somewhere in the latest Archos firmware?
I have a little workaround for that problem:
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332323
its an app to give you instant access to the touch screen recalibration.
cheers!
The top part of my phone does not respond to touch anymore... it is impossible to bring down the notification bar... and once in a while the whole screen goes unresponsive.. tried factory reset but still the same problem..
am having the same problem since 2 days back
after reading some of the posts i found that the Digitizer For HTC G6 Legend A6363 should be replaced with new one i ordered mine from ebay
ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5039.m570.l1313&_nkw=Digitizer+For+HTC+G6+Legend+A6363&_sacat=See-All-Categories
waiting for the item to be delivered
I've also got a touchscreen issue: the area of the notification power widgets is unresponsive... the rest of the screen works fine, but I don't know for how long :/

Do you have widgetlocker, by any chance ?
Or a lockscreen replacement which disable the notification bar during the "slide to unlock" state ?
I didn't know there was such thing as widgetlocker. I use CM7 latest nightly, never seen that thing.
I also facing this problem from last 2 weeks and i also think this is digitizer problem. If anyone else found the solution else changing the digitizer, then please post.
This is beautiful phone but htc added a poor quality things in it, due to which many users facing such problems.
Nah.. I dont think its because of widget locker.. its the digitizer..
well that's a shame, gotta buy a new digitizer on ebay after just over 1 year of use...
I know.. this sucks... Im planning to upgrade though.. Any of u guys have any suggestion?
Depends on your carrier if you want suggestions for an upgrade.
...but that would drive the post off-topic.

I have the same problem. my screen doesnt work anymore because some water got in from the grill above the screen :S
should I try to take apart and dry off or shall I buy a new digitizer directly?
I think it may be a good idea to try disconnecting your digitizer and reconnect it as it just might be helping. I did it on my girlfriends legend and it has been working perfectly ever since. Maybe a good idea to at least try that before buying a new one. So i guess it could be in the connector to? At least this worked for me.
My touch screen dosent work at times. but after rebooting the phone the problem becomes solved. But the problem comes again after a week or so. Any suggestions guys??

I also have this problem, but if I wait a couple of minutes the touchscreen
becomes responsive again. Half of the screen works when it's unresponsive (right half of the notification bar and down). It's quite annoying but I cannot afford a new phone at the moment.
I'm also wondering if this might be temperature related, this problem reoccurred very often during the summer but stopped during the winter. But now (spring) it's back again.
My problem got worse and the phone became totally unresponsive, changed it, got a new phone.

exact same problem here, mine works when it feels like working, totally random, I simply can't understand why, I doubt it's the temperature... I think its in the device theres something wrong, I smack it numerous time and it works right after a big smack on the screen, or rub your whole hands on the screen, also, the angle you are holding the phone affects this problem, if none of these work, a phone restart always makes it work at the beginning. Oh boy did my phone took and taking much beating... oh well, I wish I could permanatly fixed the problem here, as I was thinking of handing the phone to my brother when I upgrade, I'm using CM 6.1.
I still recommend the same thing that i posted earlier here, her screen still works perfect.
I had the same problem few months ago. The problem is with the touch digitizer. I bought a digitizer on ebay and replaced it myself. After that my phone has been working fine. Its not that hard to replace it if you have a small knowledge about hardware.
I use to get that unresponsive screen issue only in the summertime, plus it gets worse if I add humidity (read: sweat). I just need to give it some time then to dry off/ cool down outside my pocket, and it's all fine again.
Hello Everyone!
Long time now, i have an issue with the Touchscreen of my MB526. From time to time it generates random clicks ... if i then send it to standby and wake it up, everything is fine again. I thought it may be a hardware-problem or a problem with the custom roms around, but when i posted this issue today on the Defy-Facebook-Group, i found someone with the same issue on the stock unrooted 231 Rom (BL7). The Same BL as mine ...
So may be, that there is an unidentified bug in our mobiles? may be some driver problem? Or is it an hardware-issue like the speaker of the MB525, that affects more users?
Maybe some of the Rom-Devs could try to find something related to the Wake-Up precedure what resets the touchscreen and clears this issue?
We need some help here ...
EDIT: There is now one more on the Facebook-Group with the same issue but on a MB525 ... so it's Defy in general and not only Defy+ ...
The same problem here
First of all thanks for addressing this problem. I thought i was the only one.
Ok so I'm currently on W.R.1.7, Defy mb525
And i experience the same problem. random touches and to reset it i have to lock my screen and switch it on again.
I haven't (and wont do till 5 more months) tried this on other roms. but it always starts after 1 week of installing wr 1.7.
I flashed the rom again thinking that it will solve the problems (this and batterry drops) it did but after a week it was back!
:crying:
Had that just today, for the first time.
Was playing Hill Climb Racing, when suddenly the gas pedal (on screen touch area) got stuck, then flickered irregularily 3 or 4 times a second for like 15 seconds. My defy didn't register the back button or the home button during that time. Switching off and on helped. It happened again like a minute later, but not as long. Didn't happen again since then, but if it does in another app I'll report back.
There is no demo function in Hill Climb Racer as far as I know, so the pressed gas pedal could only have originated from the touchsceen / driver side, not from faulty code in the game.
My Defy, MB525 (Green), has 2 years old and I have this issue since always, I didnĀ“t use my warranty because I've rooted since i bought it, but just happens sometimes (the same issue on stock 2.1, stock 2.2, MIUI, CM7, CM9, CM10...).
OK, so this themes to be an issue that affects more than just a few users ...
there was a guy in the facebook group, that reported, that he had this issue to, but it stoped since he used a screen protector ... so this may solve this issue ... but i think this is not all ... The screen is (for sure) not designed to be only useable with an screen protector
and because of the Lockscreen / Wake up solve, this is not happening due to dirt on the display or something i think ...
would be nice, if some dev could answer this post, so we would know, that we are not alone and may maybe get some help in some time ...
@ MadMooney ... i also found this annoying in Hill Climb Racing It's exactly the gas-Pedal that is "locked" then .. bit it happend in other apps (by writing an sms fpr example) to ... so it may be some fingerpoint that we both have exactly the same issue with the same game and the same affected screen area ...

Even i use a screen protector (Amzer one) but that doesn't help in solving the ghostly touch problem..
Its definitely a software issue

I have the same problem with mine, i thought it was because since 6 months back i totally cracked my screen and havent changed it because it still works as it should except looking terrible. What i have noticed thou is that i can absolutely not use my phone while charging it because that will to a 100% result in my screen going wild
I am also facing this issue. I mildly heat the screen using heater the problem solve for one or two weeks then It again appear. I found another thing that this issue may solve if press the right side of speaker hardly. Please try these and report

Same here. It happens when my screen is a bit oily so if I clean it it doesn't do it anymore.
Happens to me too, exactly as OP said, Bayer MB525
Happend with CM7.2 and CM10, I don't remember having this in stock Froyo 2.2.1
EDIT: Things that make it happens more often:
1. Any kind of liquid over screen (mainly water)
2. While connected to an USB
WOW ... such a mass of users with the same issue ... and no one ever told that before?!
OK, so we are facing an big issue with all roms and all kinds of devices / displays ... so maybe it is a driver problem, beacause it is solved if you turn screen of and wake up again ...
the issue with the charger is named here too ... i also had this problem ... with low battery and charger the screen reacts like an resistive touchscreen, not like an capacitive ... maybe these are all the same issue ...
No dev here, that can pick this thing up and have a look at it?

Then let me add that right when it happend, i saw a tiny sweat droplet on the screen. I wiped it away instantly, but the effect stayed for another couple of seconds. Might really be that the touchscreen/driver-combo gets temporarily overloaded from the continuously moist spot.
I had that effect on other phones too, always capacitive screens. If that's all there is to it, there's probably not much we can do about it to solve it other than to make the driver less sensitive, but that would be a bad thing, if you ask me. I like that it reacts at the lightest touch.
Yeah, it reacts fine. But the idea of overload is nice ... Maybe it could be solved by setting up the Multi-Touch-Points to 5 e.g. ???
I think we need an update zip from our great developers to reduce the sensitivity of our touch screen especially for those who realy suffering due to this defect. We can find lot of topics regarding this issue in various headings like !My phone become crazy, touch screen malfunction etc! In QA section
Sent from my MB526 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, for sure .. but if there is no dev reading this posts, there won't be any zips ...
and with the xda-board-rules you can't open a thread for that in the Dev-Section -.-
So ... we will be alone thanks to the admins and the board rules, cause no dev will read the Q&A Section ...
My phone Defy+:
I had this issue on cm7.2 tried following solution but none of them works.
1) Changed to cm10 thought it might be Rom issue but no i have ghost touch on cm10 too.
2) I applied screen guard to see if it wrks but not it does not wrk i still have ghost touch.
P.S. While charging the phone GT disappears.
Try to heat ur touch screen lightly using a hair drier
