Its not working coz its not compatible with the official ICS and CF's new root. Triangle away is made for the leaked ICS repack.

[Question] Odin Counter + Rooting

Hi all,
should the odin custom binary counter go from 0 to 1 when the tab is simply rooted and no new ROM is flashed?
Thanks.

If you are going to root the tab using CMW obviously it will increase the counter, not sure if you can root it any other way.
If you want to root your device thus far you need CWM which you flash through Odin. That will increase the counter for sure.
Mine reach 5 count already since flash the ROM
Thanks a lot - a day older and a little bit wiser now.
It may be obvious to some people that it would step the counter up but some of us are new to Samsung and have no idea how the Odin counter works or is triggered... Hence the question.
so is there a max amount of times you can flash t???? im a total noob to sammy thanks
No, there is no limit to the amount off flashing. Only the counter will go up.

Does that void your warranty? I found a stuck pixel on my display and I'm rooted.
Yes, in the proces of rooting your warranty is already void. If the flash counter is above 0 your warranty is void. At the moment there is no know and tested way to get it to zero. But if you feel lucky, they maybe wont look at the counter.

Did I miss the counter?Nahhh
Last time when there is no counter, you only need to unroot and flash back to stock rom but nowdays the counter goes up and samsung service centre can know that you have play with the ODIN. Mine up to 5 already. Hope there nothing problem with my Tab 2 10.1 when the time goes on.

"Triangle Away" can reset the counter back to 0, but, only on certain devices. I know it works on the Samsung Galaxy S3, not sure about your Tab. Be careful, you could brick it if it doesn't work!

Unfortunately, only US residents would like that video. I don't know of any other countries that push manufacturers to accept rooted/jailbroken devices.
Triangle away will surly put it to zero, in furture, cause its master cainfires work ;-)

USB Jig for S4

I've tried my USB jig on my i9505 and my uncles i9500 with my jig and my brothers jig, and surprisingly, they still get the phones into download mode. I'm not sure if it resets the flash counter though.
Feature:
Forcing device into download mode.
Removing Triangle but not resetting flash counter??? (Still Unconfirmed)
TL;DR USB JIGS DO WORK, HOWEVER THEY ONLY PLACE THE PHONE INTO DOWNLOAD MODE!
I'll update the thread for newbs and noobs with a guide on how to use a USB jig, it's a good investment if you're scared you might brick your phone, they cost around a £1.
If you cannot obtain a USB Jig by purchasing, consider borrowing one, here are threads that have names of people who are available to lend you a USB jig:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891197
Or make one yourself:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604707
(IT WON'T WORK IF YOU HAVE USED THE WRONG .pit FILE AND RE-FORMATTED, YOU NEED TO USE A JTAG RIFF, NEW MOTHERBOARD OR SEND BACK TO SAMSUNG!! (Personal Experience ;A)
Just did the same yesterday and was surprised too :cyclops:
My my counter was 0 so I can't tell ...
So PLS somebody with a counter > 0 and good old JIG LOL

I thought it'd stop working after the S3 but I'm happy it works, now I don't have to buy more tools and shiz!
Off-topic:
Also my post restrictions are really annoying!
My counter is currently on 3 so, if no one tries it in the mean time, I will try this with my I9100 jig at home later this evening and let you know if it resets it.

I think after the S3, It should really just be called a jig instead of assigning it a certain model Thanks btw! <3
It won't reset counter and change to official status. Just tried.

So it puts the device into download mode, does not reset the flash counter but does get rid of the triangle noting an insecure kernel? Then it works better than it does on the S3

Seems like it. I did not use the triangle away or anything like that but I did flash an insecure kernel for rooting and did not get the yellow triangle.
Also confirming that usb jig will go into download mode, but will not set counter to 0 or "official". Used triangle away to do that.

Since USB jigs are confirmed to at least place the phone into download mode, shouldn't we tell a mod or someone to place a link or something to the "Borrow a JIG" thread that's in the S2 and S3 forums?

To reset the counter by jig we need an unlocked bootloader. The jig works, but we don't have the proper bootloader ...

S4's and S3's never had a yellow triangle when flashing. Only the country went up and in some cases a tiny red exclamation mark.

If you ever need to reset the counter and return to stock, it's very easy. You have to use Triangle Away with the stock kernel for it to work. There's a huge tutorial on it here somewhere, do a search, you won't miss it.

Once you download Triangle Away, you will see it in the app and also will see a counter when it does the actual process from what I remember. Here are some guides I mentioned earlier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336392
The counter is just hidden now, if you go into settings and try to do a check for updates, they'll probably tell you it's a modified rom. If you ever need to send it in for warranty or whatever, you'll still have to revert to stock and get rid of the counter
This is the new bootloader. It has KNOX security features.
Triangle away isn't compatible with this bootloader at the moment.

New Note 3

I just got my Note 3 and the first thing I did was root it. The problem is that I forgot to perform a software update. Now when I try to update the software, I get the message that I can't update because my phone is modified. Is there a way to download and manually install the latest software update?
This should be in Q&A....mods will either delete it or move it for you.
To answer you...depending on your region the stock firmware may or may not be available for you to odin back to stock.

use triangle away to restore official status. Then update and reroot (from what i heared, ony the international N3 had a firmware update) Usually, if there was one for you, as soon as you would have connected to the internet it would have told you, unless you rooted without first connecting the phone to the internet

You can use kies to restore your phone back to stock. It will change your phone back to original status, without root. However there's nothing you can do on your knox warranty.

Degrate Shadow KNOX Remover Script

hello guys.
@britton1981 requested me for this Script for removing KNOX.
I dont own the device itself. But it was pretty easy to do.
As the name suggest this is just a Script that removes KNOX crap that block su from time to time.
Try and be rid of the knox.
I havent yet tested this becuase i dont have the device.
Enjoy
And press the thanks button if i helped you.

The Virgin Mobile S3 does in fact have Knox bootloader as well as apps in the latest update to 4.3 (build MK5) so yes there is an S3 with Knox firmware. I can promise you because I spent a good twenty four hours straight fighting it to achieve root access
