I have to agree with him,
Why go for X10? just wait a couple of months then go for the Xperia ARC or Play, heck even Xperia Neo will be soon released
sync it to Sony Sync from ur X1 and then Sync back to X10.
I'm using both X1 and X10 )

Especially if he is concerned about price, 300 isnt bad and the arc will be way more upon release.
but arc will cost 600 not 300.big difference for almost same hardware

There's some good news regarding the arc's price. However, it's still above his price range. However, the neo will fit better than the X10 Now, the hardware you're talking about is apparently much different than you expected...

Nothing. He's just saying that the newer models have better hardware specs than the x10...better screen with true multitouch, more optimized CPU, more RAM. It still remains to be seen how responsive they will be though.
I have the same dilemma.
I can not wait for two more months for the Arc or Neo. And their initial price will surely be real high.
Plus, I'm actually having 2nd thoughts if they would really perform as expected.
So I was thinking, if I could get an X10 now for half the price of the Arc, wait a few more months while watching the early birds get their hands on the new devices, then maybe after 6 months, if the Arc or Neo lived up to as promised, that's the time to buy either of the two. If not, I'll settle for my modded X10 or best, get an HTC.
I'd buy X10, if it costs 300 euros Arc will probably cost more than 500. OK, it's only a difference of 200 but you never know when you could need them
As I said in the past, the only good things of Arc (for me) are Gingerbread, Bravia display and HDMI. No double core processor, no more RAM, and no more quality in camera (no matter if it has Exmor technology). Multitouch isn't really needed. So let's say is not a significant improvement (MY opinion).
That's in case you want to save money and have a good phone at the same time. Otherwise, if you wanna spend more and have a high featured phone, HTC models are for you or you could even consider Motorola Atrix, those phones can offer you the same as Arc or even more for a similar price. However, if you still want to get a SE phone, you already know what your options are and what phones will come from this brand.
I also recommend you to read the specs. of each phone very closely.
Good luck in your decision
haha I just bought my first high end android phone, the AWESOME Xperia X10 for $200 on craigslist yesterday!! I LOVE IT!!! The difference between my old Galaxy I7500 and this phone is like the difference between a toyota corolla and a ferrari haha! I just upgraded to 2.1 and rooted and installed xrecovery with the dual touch and the jit! This phone is soooooooo fast!
Guys, hello again.
As you know, my X10 was stolen, but Im now moving on and I realize I gotta get a new smartphone, but I can't do it for now, maybe until november
However, with latest news about SE about Android updates and unlocking the bootloader, I definitely decided to get a new Xperia (So no, Im not a SE hater), and Im not interested in Arc but I really like Neo, so if everything goes well I'll get it in the future.
I see most of you guys who are going to update your phones are getting Arc, but I would like to know how many of you will get Neo.
Also, I have two cuestions about it:
I can't find the correct data how much RAM Neo has, some people say it has the same as Arc. Is this true?
And the front camera, what are its real specs?
Edit: Any estimated price? In euros or dollars.
Thanks in advance.
here's the specs of neo and compared to arc..

i do love the design but i need more ram and power..

I already checked gsmarena before, if you look closer, the info doesn't show Neo's real RAM.
And yes, I also thought a double-cored phone could be awesome, but I've analyzed the situation deeper: remember, that's still experimental (just like the case with the first double-cored computers) and we don't know yet how much reliable is a phone like that. Motorola Atrix sounds very good, but I'd rather to ensure the performance of the phone I'll use everyday. I see double-core phones standarized approximately until Q4 or 2012 (my opinion).
Plus, we should see how good the battery's performance is with a double core processor.
Hi, come on my blog bogdancdumitru.blogspot. com and you will see everything about Neo. I have one prototype from about 3 months.

I got it cos it was cheap and better than the ZTE phone, and back then SE had a good reputation. And I thought any android phone will do.
I didn't know about XDA and roms back then but if then that would have been a reason, too.
So what was your reason to buy this phone?
bought it becoz SE did a promo in my country(Malaysia). first 8 who Q up for it will get to buy the phone for RM8.00 (approx US$2.50) lol. so happen im lucky #7 xD
I bought it because in my country its much cheaper than any other Android phone. BTW I'm not regret it I love it.
I bought it because it was a very good phone for a reasonable price. (and because I smashed my Nokia N95)
A the time I didn't know for xda, but now when I found out for custom roms... it's like an another phone worth double it's price
lucky guy, getting a phone for near free
I bought it because x8 got very good price / functionality ratio in my opinion. Then SE just leave it unsupported. Fortunately I found out XDA and awesome roms by doixanh. Now I'm pretty happy with my phone.
I got it as a christmas present.
It´s my first phone with touchscreen and the first with Android.
I bought it beacuse it was the best for it's price-1 euro

me too man.and another reason i got x8 is because i love SE phones but hadnt much money
No particular reason. But now I love it!! Ever since I rooted...b4 was boring.
I my brother bought a stolen one and when he got x10 mini pro for his 18 birthday he gave it to me.this is the best phone i ever had and probably the best one i will have.cuz i cannot affort anything else.i probably wouldnt have x8,but i had luck.so yea,i really know how to appreciate things, and im more than happy with this phone.
I bought it because it was the only android I could afford lol !! But like some others I found xda and it changed my whole world, all of a sudden my little android became too powerful !!!!

I bought it due to really wanting to have an Android smartphone (my old Sony Ericcson Walkman annoyed me due to not being able to do stuff like custom roms, etc. ). After looking at loads of reviews, several price comparisons and if there is any Gingerbread rom available for this device, I finally bought it via amazon
Still using Floyo though although I might upgrade to GingerDX in the near future
i swapped x10 mini pro, locked to o2 for x8 simfree, maybe some will think im stupid but i think i made good choice, i use x8 as modem / send sms from pc, thats about it, i have big hands its not very pratical for me in every day use. so i got it really to take advantage of the £15 month all you can eat data plan on Three, witch is truely unlimited.
Good looks ,cheap ,android.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
i bought it because of its hardware and its price, and better still because i saw all the custom roms and stuff it had, so marazing, i bought it for its potential.
At first i thought it was ugly, but then saw the black version and it became 90% more beautyfull. the white one just wasn't that nice at sight.
There were others at the same price range with similar hardware and specs but this was just the best overall. the motorola one's (dont remember the model, b alike) screen was just to small, and the galaxy mini was too short of specs

Sorry to "crash" the party, but I'd never buy a Sony (Ericsson) ever again.
Why? Simple...
- Lousiest support I've ever seen.
They may release the one or another ROM update for their phones, but, in terms of W/X8, dropping support after just a year with lousy excuses like "oh sorry, Froyo won't run satisfactory on your devices and Gingerbread is well beyond the capabilities" is what I take as "****ing the customer over big time".
- Somewhat solid hardware packed into cheap-ass plastic.
I don't know about you but my major gripe with the X8 has always been the back cover which just crackles/crunches when you hold the phone.
That being said ... I wouldn't opt for something else than a Samsung or Motorola. I'm deeply satisfied with my Galaxy S2. Sturdy design, nice looking and so far a great support from Samsung.
That's of course my opinion, your mileage may vary.

I agree with you, SE definitely worst support for their smartphones.
But too bad, i love only SE designs phones.
I satisfy with my X8 now, my daily usages are only Opera Mini, calls, whatsapp and text. The phone's performance is ok for me, the only bad thing is the screen is too small.
I will not buy any phone within next 9months, and since my contract is end on Jan 2013 too.
I think i will buy Arc S for next, or similar to USD 250-300 around end of the year.

SE is all about the design of their phones. I seek performance.
Voting for Samsung, HTC and Motorola!
Depending the price and screen size either Mini Pro or Pro if a hardware keyboard is something you want. I realised after I had bought my X8 that it would have been nice with X8 with hardware keyboard and it seems Sony (Ericsson) thought the same thing since they released the Mini Pro
ray or mini form 2011
m also not very satisfied with my xperia x8, but i still love SE ..................eagerly waiting for sony xperia s
i really like motorola droid razr max because its battery lasts longer.. 3300mah!! that would really last longer..but sad its only for verizon huhuhu..it wouldnt work here in the phils.

Maybe the moto defy+, btw seems that motorole has some models with good battery.
I'm satisfied with my x8 too, it was a very cheap purchase, even if locked with a 12 month contract. And I like the clean layout.
But as others have said, YMMV... It's full of mobile phones out there.

The new Xperias look really good, but sadly they aren´t dual-core-phones.
ATM, I need a new PC, so I won´t buy a new phone in the near future.
My contract ends in November, and I think that until then, smartphones with tegra 3 will be available, so my next phone will mist probably be a quad-core phone, maybe a HTC or Samsung.
Hey guys, looking for some advice. I bought an arc s about 4 months ago to replace my dying x10i and I've been very happy with it, however it's starting to feel a bit dated and I don't know what would be a good upgrade. I have an excellent sim only contract so would like to buy a handset upfront, but I don't want to spend silly money.
I have installed ics and really like the experience, however the occasional lag is quite annoying. I think I just want a decent handset with more ram really, but I think a galaxy s2 would be equally dated in another 4 months.
I just bought an iPad 3 and really enjoy how nippy it is, I've been considering moving over to iPhone for my next phone..lout would have to wait and see what comes out this fall.
I dunno....maybe I just need to be patient but though I would check I'm not missing some super secret , perfect phone I haven't seen yet! Would. A Sony Xperia P be a good replacement for an arc s? Seems almost the same specs but double the ram... Thoughts?
Well as you are now forever locked into Apple as a single hardware supplier for your tablet, are you prepared to buy separate apps for your phone?
If so, then I would look at the Xperia S... If you aren't, then sell your iPad3, buy a decent Android tablet and a Xperia S.
My brother purchased an iphone4, i asked him if he new he would be restricted with apps, roms and hardware, he said yes its not a problem for him. Hes now wanting to be shot of it, every update destroys his jailbreak and it eats into his time putting it back again. In short he now wishes he hadn't gone down the apple route, although both he and i agree its a nice bit of kit just a bit restricted if you like fiddling and playing with software i guess. Each to their own i suppose. I think his main gripe is with the constant use of i tunes software for his films and movies. I rather like the look of that new hyabusa ? Very much Arc looking but slightly more updated specs, not sure it will be near top of the pops still when its launched here but that's never really bothered me as long as it does what i want it too alls good and rosey. More ram and dual core with a bigger screen will have to see how it sits in the hand. I picked up the SGS II last year and for me it didnt feel good in the hand so left it there i know my arc isnt bleeding edge far from it, butt eh screen is decent and it is comfortable, hope the hyabusa feels the same just hope it doesnt come with too high a price tag.
Well I'm quite happy with the stock ipad experience and quite happy to do the majority of my app purchases for gaming etc on that platform.
For my mobile, I don't play games or watch movies often... It's mostly Facebook, messaging, browsing etc. I know I could make do with a midrange phone for that but I like to be upto date and have a fast user experience. The xperia s feels a little too big when I've used it and I worry it will be the usual Sony affair and not be as fast as it should be with those specs.

Errr okay, I'm not a woman. Thanks for that sexist comment though. I love tinkering with android and really don't see the point in having an iPad AND an iPhone, it's nice to have the best of both. All I'm concerned about is getting a decent upgrade which will last me.
How can it be that the Xperia U is faster than the S? That's not reassuring...often phones feel nippy when new and nothing installed. Or maybe the S will improve with ICS? I am considering getting an S as I could grab one for around £200

The remark is basically inspired from what I have seen with my wife... She's a technology illiterate and iPhone did the trick for her. She had a decent android phone which basically "never worked right", regardless of updates etc. IPhone is a dumbed down version of android with no possibility to customize, with pretty eye candy, sold at a premium price ... IPad is the big brother... You catch my drift ... I just can't believe you spent money on an iPad ... But that's just me and nothing personal ...

That was down right sexist. Don't judge the whole mankind by one example. I'm a girl and would never sell my soul to the devil (read: Apple). Love Linux (Mint) and Android, and I'm quite an average ROM and kernel flasher.

I see more Samsungs and HTCs, with a bit of Sony (Ericsson) here and there. Apple might aim the female buyers, but it's far from being woman's only phone-friend.
