So to start with, I did use search
I have my HD with T-Mobile. Everything was working fine for months, until a few days ago.
I'm able to connect to the internet, however after 1-2 seconds, it seems like my phone stops sending/recieving data. Internet connection is still listed as active, yet the pages won't load etc, hitting refresh doesn't do anything.
Worth noting, most of the time, I don't get any errors in Opera, it just stops loading a page after 1-2 seconds. (It's the same with IE and every other online app) Sometimes I get 'ERROR - Could not locate remote server' in Opera.
Internet works fine over WLAN.
I can't link it to any software/rom. When it first happened, I've used Duttys 2.5, now switched to 2.9 and the problem persists. Also tried different Radios, different connection settings etc.
Any ideas ?

Maybe it's a network issue. Do you have a sim card for another network you could try?

Yeah, I tried. Same thing.
Any more ideas?
It's really wired, I rolled back to old HTC stock rom (still the same issue), installed stock 1.56 again ... and it's working. I have no idea what was the issue, especially considering how many times I've flashed it before and it was always there.
Oh well, I'm happy
Scratch that, forgot that the HD uses my PCs connection when plugged in.
So, it still doesn't work. Think I'll write to HTC, or is there anything else I could try doing?
Have you tried calling someone when you have the problems? After a couple of weeks-months a lot of people seem to have connectivity problems. I've sent mine back and hope to have it back soon!
I have this problem all the time for a week now. Everything but 3G internet works fine.
I did install SPB Wireless monitor yesterday, to check how is the data transfer.
Running the browser, hitting refresh each time, downloaded about 2KB of data (on average). (Same on both, 3 and T-Mobile)
Then, I've left youtube app and browser on - after about 40 minutes, it managed to download most of the youtube app start page and most of one of the pages I've opened with the browser. Data rate was highly random, often not downloading anything for a couple of minutes. In total, it was about 1.1 MB.
Then, after those 40 minutes - it didn't download anything any more for another hour or so. After that (the connection was still active), I've refreshed the browser and tried to load a different tab in youtube app, but for another hour or so no data was transferred.
did you install a new radio? and ifso did you also install the corosponding rilphone.dll?? maybe you can use hd tweak and set the data connection you use to always on. this works fine for me
Yeah, I tried a few radios (with dlls). Didn't help.
Data connection stays on, for hours. (without tweaking, which I find kind of strange).
As I said before, it's not an issue with disconnecting. Connection stays on, yet data is not being downloaded properly.
which data plan are you using?
Also can you navigate here and see if this is like your problem (post 22 and down):

Thanks
It's web'n'walk. (uk)
However, it's certainly not an issue with t-mobile, as it works exactly the same on '3' as well.
I'm running out of ideas here really. Seems like no one so far (including HTC tech support) had the same issue.
I think the only possibility is, that it is hardware related somehow.
Hi Volw, did you find a fix for this? This is happening to my bosses phone.
Hi... is it my impression or is you Touch HD's behaviour similar to this ?
Sorry for the link, but didn't want to repost...
I think you're not alone!
Have you tried a hard reset? In my case it solved until I disconnected from my home network again!
I hope I can help (so little) in detect the specific circumstances in which the error occurs....
My solution, since I had mine for less than 30 days was going to the shop where I bought mine, swaped for a brand new one and I kept for the firmware that came from factory... didn't flash for the current official rom (cooked roms are out of the question for now - with all do respect) and I'm very very reluctant in flashing my new TouchHD. I even flashed the first unit twice but I kept having the same problem.
Now I'm affraid of flashing this one and going back to the shop with a second phone in the same condition...
Still with the installed firmware from factory (previous from the current oficial) I still get a few minutes for it to "see" the active HSDPA connection after disconnecting Wifi!
Sorry if i deviated a bit from subject... just trying to help.
Regards,
MD
I have exactly the same issue. I've had my HD for about 6 weeks and the Wifi has always worked fine with my home network. But then suddenly one day last week it stopped working.
It's still connected, but no data is being transferred. I can't update the weather or browse the web.
I've tried playing with all the settings and connected to my neigbours unsecured wifi network, but still nothing works.
This is particularly annoying because data is not part of my contract, so wifi was my only way downloading files, updating things etc.
Anyone had any luck solving the issue yet?

Hi guys, I had exact the same problem.
I'm on O2 Germany network and figured out, that when disabling HSDPA and only using 3G I never had that problem anymore.
I mean although I had full HSDPA connection, Opera was sometimes able to load the Websites, but most of the time the loading failed (mostly the first page load was ok, but all other calls ended in a blank screen, or the "Could not locate remote server"...). This is pretty strange and I would love to use the HSDPA connection again, but for now disabling HSDPA is the only solution for me

EDIT: I had this behaviour with the stock ROM and also with Dutty's V3.3 which I'm running right now. What I was thinking is, that maybe the auto switching between GPRS/3G/HSDPA is damaging the connection???
HTC HD / Blackstone connection issue
I have the same problem in SG - Opera does not load web page some times, even when the 3G/HSDPA icon is flashing on the top bar, and that the Data Connection in CommMgr is showing green.
I have to click on the Data Connection in CommMgr again (which will not go off), and the connection back up again.
These happen to other internect connectivity as well. Usually happen in the first connection (of each app) to the internet after I restart the phone.
I'm currently on the latest Energy ROM with radio 2.08. Everything is fine (minus the wifi screen out of place for some odd reason), and the data connection sometimes simply "hangs" - under connections it would say connected, and i would get calls, but no data. Marketplace, e-mails, etc. can't reach the net at all. when that happens, the only way to fix it is either reboot the phone or manually turn off and on the data connection under settings. anyone else experience this?
Nevermind, just had to give a payment.
no one else?
I'm completely lost as to what is wrong with Android, I can turn on WiFii and sometimes it works great, other times I get nothing other than an IP, so what does that mean. It means the initial handshake to the DHCP server is succeeding, but once I have a connection, I can not do anything at all. I've downloaded "Overlook Fing" and when this happens basically I can not do anything pings, traceroute ... all fail with 100% packet loss. If I go back to a cellular connection then I get data again, but sometime if I keep turning WiFii off and on repeatedly it will work eventually, also sometime rebooting the phone helps, but none of these are sure fire solutions, and often only work about 20% of the time. When at home or at work, I'd really like to to waste my data plan as I have WiFii, but since it fails so often and when it fails I get no email and see no messages as to what has failed I'm stuck not trusting WiFii ever.
So far the only solution or recommendation I've gotten is reinstall, which helped but it started up again later. Now between the time when it worked and when it did not work, I did not install any new software or change any data settings on the phone. Also as I said I know the WiFii can get an IP so the radio works, its just it will not send any packets. I even tried disabling Droidwall, but that made no difference either.
Recommendations?

1.Wrong Section (not trying to be rude).
2. I had a similar problem but the simple fix was to reset the router(silly me), which i doubt is the cause for your problem. Sounds more like a hardware problem.
3. If it's a software problem, flashing the specific wifi module on your phone should help....otherwise flashing a new ROM should help. If it's a hardware problem indeed.....no fix.
Felt this was the right place as it is an Atrix that is causing the problem. Also I've try both stock and Alien ROMs same issues with both. I'm hoping there are some logs on the Atrix at the OS level with information to review to find out whats wrong.
Eric
have you tried connecting to other wifi networks?
Exactly what are all of the wifi related apps you have installed? Any wifi profile apps like Zakus Wifi Profiles?
You listed Droidwall, which looks like it could cause your issues. What do you mean by disable? Just kill the task or freeze it using TiBU? The Droidwall app might respawn soon after you kill it as a task. Try uninstalling or freezing Droidwall to make sure it's not running.
First off, I believe what he meant by wrong section is it should be in Q&A. Second, what kernel / radio are you using? That is kinda important. Stock? 1.77 radio? 1.97? I had a lot of problems with 1.97 radio, but 1.77 works perfect for me. Where as others say 1.77 is terrible for them and 1.97 works perfect for THEM, so...
My Defy has a problem with wi-fi tethering, and also USB. I can get a usable connection for about a minute, then there is no data on the computer. I can still access data using the browser on the phone. If I go to turn off tethering on the phone, the tethering function locks up. The icon stays on screen, and the only way of clearing it is pulling the battery.
If I try USB tethering, it also locks up in a similar way.
I have tried the default stable rom from the cyanogenmod site, and the latest nightly. I have also tried Maniac's latest nightly, and the 7.1.11 rom.
It's bugging me as I've just switched to the defy from a wildfire, which worked fine.
I tried searching and I have not found a solution yet. I'm running SHOstock-I with ktoonz kernel on android 4.4.2.
For some reason, my Wifi randomly disconnects from any currently connected wifi network. The first thing I try to do is to connect back to the wifi network (any available network), but it simply tries and says "Connection Failed". Next, I try to disable the wifi connectivity alltogether, but after I tap the toggle button it becomes "greyed-out" and I can't toggle it.. it just hangs. If I go back a step and then select wifi again, then I can try to disable it but the same thing just happens again.
If I reboot, then wifi works again.
Oddly enough, if I enable/disable teathering, then wifi starts to work again.
It seems I can't run Wifi for more than an hour without this issue happening. It seems to have just started doing this out of the blue. I suspect a full wipe would solve the issue but I'd rather not do that unless I have to. It usually takes me a while to get things back to normal after a wipe.
Any ideas?
Some solved the problem by unInstalling the Smart Wifi utility (for ATT and maybe other carriers too).

Thanks, but I don't have that app installed. I am positive this is not a router issue as well.
Everytime I wipe cache/delvik then the issue doesn't occur for a few days, which I think is odd. I also tried different kernels and the problem persisted.
Does anyone know if it's possible to confirm if this is a hardware issue? I doubt it...

It is a good idea to turn off any 'connection optimizer' or 'wifi optimizer' application or setting, in short anything that decides what connection is selected based on available connections should be turned off. The most probable reason for the problem is badly programmed software.
