tried both long ago on the Streak and the general cconsensus was that it had no effect on the Streak's memory management. now the zeppelinrox will say otherwise, thta it's universal... but truly the scripts are geared toward the same devices that bnefit from moving apps to the sd card (devices with less than 1 gig of cpu and less than 512 mb RAM, those days are long gone. Any device capable of running Gingerbread hasn't much need for it

They wouldn't keep re-flashing updated services.jars on each rom update if it wasn't any good.

dude dont say like that man...i loved the v6 i had on gingerstreak. My friend had put that for me. I wanted to know more about v8 so asked. I'm trying to learn all of this so thought to clear-out the procedure and all. Please help me out with a full v8/v6 supercharger guide. I'm currently also trying to learn the die-hard battery calibrator of yours .
I Truly Admire Your Work zeppelinrox...
It's the same as on gingerbread.
On ICS you just have to patch services.jar as well.
This latest version has an ICS Service Centre that helps with getting it patched and applies permissions

Hi, I just got a dell streak and would like to know which would be the best OS to have on it.
Any advice would be appreciated

Dj steves streakdroid is about your only custom option. Its great but not perfect, I think hes workin around with unknown source codes or something makin it difficult to perfect the monster. You can go stock 2.1 which keeps the ultimately useful bar/app button. 2.2 isnt worth a damn considering streakdroid 1.7.0

Hello
I recently switched form cm7 to miui and i gotta say im impressed it is so smooth and beautiful!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_bBYAGYFls
Thanks s15274n!!!
i need 2 questions answered before is switch..
1) How's battery life so far?
2) what DOESN'T work...
bcz cm7 is pissing me off with me getting 7 hours of battery.
P.S. can i use launcherpro or something like that instead of the launcher you have there?
and there's a OFFICIAL miui comming too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013370
Battery life is like a bit better than cm7 about 3 more hours.
Everything that doesn't work in cm7
It has been supported officially already where have you been lol
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Yeah i trust ya, i just flashed MIUI preview
and the MIUI preview is not "official"
If you go to the link i sent you to, then it leads to the miui forum...
they say their making a 100% official for t959.
the miui we're using right now is a port from the miui9000 forum, thats why not everything works
OOOPs just saw the "based on i9000 miui" and yes it is now since it's on their list of supported devices! Awesome! maybe we wont have to flash using these complicated steps?
yeah we won't currently the dev who ported it removed the kernel that comes with it when you flash it and thats why he told us to flash the cm7 kernel... so it'd work with 2.3.3
Thanks for the suggestion, i love it so far. restoring apps.
Any tips since this is my first time using it? any tips to make it faster? (is it even possible? lol its so fast) or any UI tweaks etc? im not used to the new settings app unfortunately lol.
Mmm I ocd it to 1.3 and used automem killer to strict. It is a little confusing lol xD

You will still need to. The complicated steps have to do with formatting from RFS to EXT4 to YAFFS2.
that looks so different.

The Search Button is Your Friend!
A little research on your part would have told you that there is no 2.3 for Streak, with the exception of the experimental and still early developing GingerStreak from DJ Steve, with extensive kernel re-writing by Fards.
Unless you are quite talented in flashing custom roms, and don't use your Streak as your main device, you will probably want to patiently wait for further development, stability and refinement.
I suggest you do a thorough search on the subject so you don't get flamed in open forum, or worse, brick your Streak!
kraz
Simple streak rom I would think is best cpu performance, but I have on tried 1.9.1,and like it with set cpu to minimum 384 maximum 1119,lcd density 180 or 200.......im still on 305 bb though.....might be even better if I put a newer ones

Agreed, Simple-streak is the fastest performance. The latest 1.9.1 is stable and very good but Simple-streak is fastest and best for games.

And for, simple streak can i flash using multi recovery flasher v08 streak droid recovery?
not CM7,NOT miui,i just need a great 2.3 kernel! Just use for JVS/JVT and so on!
the Talon kernel is good ,but not great ,its color is not good enough, even use by voodoo control, and the battery life is a lit short.
i dont care about the GPS,i just want a more smooth kernel.
---------------------------------------
I can give you two kernels, you can try them.
Explain:
1.GalaxianEE_JVS.tar is i9000's kernel, but you can try it ,just no sound, the other function is ok(not conside GPS).
2.lidroid kernel 1.6 is vibrant's kernel,you can try it,it's a good kernel,but just have 329 RAM.
3. you can use oldin to manage these two kernel. they can be used by 2.34 JVQ/JVS/JVT, just try!
my english is bad, i wish all of you can understand what i said.sorry

I do not understand why making a kernel is so difficult. Can some one explain this please?

1. Its a kernel from a firmware and base that was not meant for our phones.
2. No kernel is perfect, even if it was made by Samsung themselves.
3. Android kernels are Linux kernels, can only be compiled in Linux and sometimes Mac, never in Windows.
4. Kernel deving can sometimes be hard and frustrating, especially if it was ported from another device. Sometimes the drivers and modules don't work right when they are compiled, causing less than great battery life and some errors. It happens. Its just another side effect when dealing with ports from other phones.

Thanks for the info. I m very happy to own a Galaxy S as it keeps getting updates but sad to own a Vibrant as Samsung/T-Mobile just forgot this device.
The amounts of ass kicked by this rom are unparalleled. I've had my eye on it for months, but due to an insane paranoia about backups, I'm just now trying it out. I've already installed about 200 apps and my free space is still great, stability/fluidity is madness... performance is awesome. I don't think I could want anything more out of this.
I just fell in love with my Xperia Play again.
